My room was NOTHING like the pictures they had online. The decor was completely old and outdated. Originally I booked a room with a city view but when I arrived I got “upgraded” to a room with a lake view. The view was definitely not worth it to me personally. The whole decor of the room was lime green and super distasteful even the bathroom had a lime green countertop. The sink drained so slow, the little side mirror didn’t light up in the bathroom and when I took a shower the entire floor was soaked! The water leaked through the glass door and I had to use 3 towels to clean it up. There is very little lighting in the room and the tv had no streaming services. I had very high expectations for this property and it fell extremely short. I will not stay again, they lie on their website on the rooms they sell! I even went back to the website to see if maybe I booked the wrong room or to even see if that room was on the website but it’s no where to be found! Why blatantly lie on your website about your room types? Plus I still haven’t received my stay night and credits! Worst hotel booking I’ve ever experienced

Overall, it was a mostly pleasant experience. Every staff member we encountered was great. They answered any questions, brought us extra blankets, and were very helpful with check-in and check out. The location is very close walking distance to the Navy Pier, and there are several bus stops within a short walking distance. Our view of the Navy Pier from our room was fantastic. Now, the not so great: the room we were in was in SERIOUS need of some work in the bathroom. There were several loose tiles, and some were broken and looked like they had been grouted together. Also, our room was close to the elevators, which shouldn't have been that big of a deal, but every few seconds, it sounded like there was an airplane whooshing through our room. We got used to it pretty quickly and were able to ignore it, but I can see where it would keep people awake and be very annoying. We would stay again, but ask to be as far away from the elevators as possible. Speaking of noise, they do live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and when you walk in the doors, the music slams you in the face. We didn't hear it in our room, thankfully, but we were on the 15th floor. So overall, great stay, but bring your ear plugs.

Year’s Eve 2025 has become a financial disaster. The hotel charged over $3,000 more than expected, claiming they were only “holds” that would drop off—they never did. I’ve contacted the hotel’s accounting department countless times, only to be told the issue is with my bank, despite my bank confirming that no refund was ever processed. Now, with the hotel’s rebranding, they say they no longer have access to the records needed to fix this. Even Marriott Customer Care hasn’t been able to help. I’ve been left out of pocket, with no clear path to recover my money. If you don’t want to risk losing thousands of dollars, avoid this hotel at all costs. I’ve never experienced such poor accountability and lack of support. Travelers beware!

The place has a lot of style, for better or worse. The location can’t be beat! It’s across from a beach, two parks, & the amazing lakeside trail, and it’s a couple blocks from Navy Pier and a small concrete dog park. Lastly, it’s a short walk to the Magnificent Mile if you’re the shopping rather than recreating type. If you can get a room on the lake side you will have a fantastic view! There is a restaurant downstairs, the hotel is pet friendly and has plenty of grass for potty breaks, garage parking is crazy expensive but typical of downtown Chicago. Unfortunately, they are resting on their laurels a little and relying too much on their location to reach five stars, but the potential is surely there. We did get an amazing deal on our rooms, but the wear and tear is showing. They’ve been spending too much on appearance and letting a good deal of maintenance slide. One of four elevators was broken during our whole five day visit and our room had a few minor issues. There are signs of lack of maintenance everywhere, which is what’s holding them back. If I can again get that kind of price I will definitely stay here in future. The location, grass, and pet friendly policy are absolutely perfect for my dog and I.

We had an amazing stay! The hotel was lovely, with incredible views and outstanding staff. The bartenders were fantastic—I highly recommend their drinks! I ordered the short braised beef ribs, and although they’re a bit on the pricier side, they were absolutely worth it—so delicious!

I recently stayed at the W Lakeshore and found it to be a pleasant experience overall. While I did wish the rooms had coffee machines for added convenience, the highlight of my stay was the exceptional service I received each morning during breakfast. Ann Marie truly stood out with her kindness, thoughtfulness, and outstanding hospitality. She went above and beyond to make my mornings brighter and more enjoyable. The hotel staff, in general, were great, but Ann Marie’s warmth and attentiveness made a lasting impression. I highly recommend staying here and experiencing the wonderful team, especially Ann Marie!

As a life time platinum with Marriot I think this one of the best hotel in Chicago the view and the room are amazing. The parking too expensive. you can use hero spot to book your spot and safe half. The room service was amazing

Stayed at this hotel for 4 days with my family. Amazing views of Lake Michigan and Navy Pier. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The lounge and downstairs bar are also very nice and not overly priced. The overall cost of the rooms per night seems very fair as well.
