Right in front of the lake, this hotel has definitely seen better days. The hotel looks great from afar, but if you want to get into the details, the finishes are obviously dated and worn, but the modern style still holds. The service is fantastic, from the greeting to the checkout. The bottom floor is great for having a drink with friends and family. Just outside, it has tables and chairs to admire the view. ||The rooms are the same as the hotel; it was beautiful at one time, but it is getting a bit rough. I am sure it will be getting a facelift anytime soon. Same with the washroom. The shampoo and soap are not the best, but they will do the job for a day or two. If you are staying longer, bring your own or buy at the local stores.||Parking is expensive, way too expensive. Locally, use Lyft, not Uber. Uber is about 40% higher. ||At the end, for the price, it is a great location, great view if you get the lake front. The pool is not a great thing, but the gym is better than that.

Pros: What we liked was comfortable beds. Although, they are Almost too small for two people. The Water pressure in the shower was excellent. It is a Busy place. We also enjoyed the short walk to Navy pier. Con’s: What we didn’t like was the cleanliness of our room. There was dust and dirt on the top of the water tank on backside of toilet. Crumbs on the window sill and our nightstands. The fridge smelled terrible and we didn’t even want to put our leftovers in it, so we just ended up throwing them away. In addition to that, the drainage system is not the best. We had to stand in water to shower and the water also backed up in the bathroom sink. The price for parking was outrageous and we were unaware of additional cost of parking. We ended up parking in a different parking garage down the road and had to walk back to our hotel and room. The elevators could use attention as well. As we were going down the elevator we would get almost to the bottom and it would stop on the second or third floor to load people. Assuming the people wanted to go up, When the doors shut it would then go up to floor number 7 so they could unload, then we could go back down so we could unload on ground level. This happened a couple different times.

This hotel was beautiful. The front desk associate Edgar made our experience better than expected. He was very accommodating and professional. He took great care of us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed including a beautiful lake view room. Thank you to all the staff. Because of you we will definitely book at a The Wade our next trip to Chicago. Keep up the great work!

Google
Positive: Very nicely designed and maintained - relaxing vibe, interesting location very near Navy Pier yet also tucked away so it wasn't hectic. Great price. Our room was very comfortable and well-designed. Negative: Not really - many of the previous complaints about the room quality seem to have been addressed, at least on the 25th floor where we were. Staff interactions were pleasant and uninvasive.

The hotel is better than the reviews. I'm a platinum member, was recognized and upgraded and received complementary breakfast. Details and cleanliness are what could use some attention in all areas. The pool area could be improved. Be careful of rooms next to the elevators 🛗 as the noise isn't muffled properly (they accommodated a room change request for me which was a pain). The 2nd room I had was missing a safe and fridge, the windows were filthy, the sheets stained and not well vacuumed.

I rarely write reviews but after almost being scared away by the many poor reviews for this hotel, I felt like I had to. ||My daughter and I spent one night here for a “girls trip” to the city and we were very happy with our experience. Does the ambiance scream 2025? No. It’s a little dated but kind of in a retro, kitschy way (the 90s are cool again anyway, right?) It’s more “funky” than “luxury” but if you’re not expecting the Ritz-Carlton I don’t see how you can be disappointed. Everything was very clean and well-maintained, from the awesome pool and gym to our room. The beds very very comfortable and had a nice selection of pillows. The water pressure in the shower was great. Every staff person we interacted with was polite and friendly and responsive. I didn’t spend any time at the inviting, colorful lobby bar since I was with my eleven year-old daughter, but it was very lively for a mid-week summer night. ||The location is A+ and was perfect for the purpose of our trip: Michigan Avenue shopping and mid-week summer fireworks at Navy Pier. It’s an easy 8-10 minute walk to both. The views of the lake were incredible. ||I hope more people will leave positive reviews that counteract the negative ones, because I was definitely wary of staying here after reading those. But I was pleasantly surprised by The Wade and I would definitely stay there again!

Was hoping to stay 3 nights. Hard beds and pillows. I was near the elevator, which I requested, but had NO idea how noisy they would be. The experience was not great. I made other arrangements and left after the first nearly sleepless night. Location was great as it’s right by Lakeshore. Move on and don’t stay here. I spoke to Precious, a manager at the front desk. There was no attempt to resolve anything. She wasn't even willing to offer a taxi ride. Disappointing.

5 Stars for Rooms Operations Coordinator, Gerri Pagan! Thank you for making our stay so incredible and for your kind hospitality! Most of all thank you for giving us a view! & to the helpful & supportive staff I spoke with when I misplaced my ID! Your team is incredible! Comfy rooms , trendy boutique vibes, lively night life in the lounge, and delicious breakfast included! A perfect choice to celebrate Suenos weekend!

Yelp
I did not do much research before booking this Marriott tribute collection hotel for a work trip. I was somewhat impressed, my biggest complaint is finding the front desk! They upgraded me to a mini suite, I had already paid for a lake view and received that on the 31st floor. The room is mostly updated, except the bathroom shower, hopefully they redo that soon. The tile was caving in and certainly needs a redo or they will have more water issues if they aren't already. The WiFi worked well, the staff was nice, there was sample space in my room and I didn't hear a peep through the night like most hotels. The hvac also worked well, both units. I would stay here again, walking distance to restaurants/stores/river walk.

Yelp
Something at this great waterfront hotel went really bad when they changed from a "W Hotel" to a mystery "Wade". I'm thinking management doesn't give a rip but it's a shell of its former self. Bar and lobby restaurant have no kitchen because of an A/C problem that can't be fixed in half a month (wtf?). Bar staff is wonderful, they stuck with it through the transition, but I think they are heroic. God bless them. The BEST. Management needs to rethink their careers because obviously Marriott put their worst performers here (think 2 out of 5) . And IT SHOWS. Any business traveler who has been at any other hotel in Chicago would say where the hell is the leadership. Look for another job please. (THE WORST)

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel several years ago when it was the "W" or a different name, but you will see that the reviews are most likely the same. For me, I see these name changes as a way of hiding previous public reviews on various web sites. The rooms are very outdated and falling a part, considering the price point. Hotel rooms and hallways are very noisy. As soon as you open the room door to the hallway, the noise is overwhelming. The room was very dated. I should have known to stay away from dark carpets and dark bathroom tile. If the Maintenance team spent a few hours in there, I'm sure many of these cosmetic items could be corrected. The room was dirty and there were things that cleaning folks could have done to make it look a bit better. The icing on the cake was the blood on the bathroom wall, which was not mine. Location is good, but I would not stay there again unless there were some room updates made.

Yelp
No attention to details. The place is way outdated. What is louder than the people in hallways or rooms next door are the outdated and malfunctioning mini fridges and HVAC fans.
