The Waffle House

Visited on a Sunday, it was very busy, so it took some time for us to get served . The waffles were exceptional, definitely worth the wait, being this my first visit. Great atmospherr as it's situated alongside the lagoon and Tanglewood Forest. There's lots of pathways, with tress, seating and some art pieces. This leads to the Ramsgate Beach. Loved every moment, and wish I had more time to explore..

I visited the Waffle House last around 40 years ago, and had planned a return trip for many years. When the opportunity finally arose, I was not disappointed. The restaurant has had some changes, but retains its roots in amazing food and incredible service. The waffles I had were the crispiest, tastiest waffles I've had in a long time. The toppings were decadent yet didn't leave you feeling saturated. Unfortunately, the prices are really high and waffles for 6 is more expensive than Steers for 6. However, I was suitably impressed and might return again in 40 years.

The legendary Waffle House is a firm favourite of ours. We often pop in after a walk on the Ramsgate meander. Sweet and savoury are equally delicious and they have of the best coffee on the south coast.

Quaint place with a relaxed atmosphere. Service was great and food came out quickly. Good portions and delicious flavours.

Delicious savory and sweet waffles as well as burgers. Lots to choose from on the menu. I just had a plain waffle with cream (the syrup is free) and it was delicious but my friends had the most beautifully crafted waffles. A bit noisy but cozy by the fire. Kids playground and walk along the Board walk towards the sea.

After 30 years, I finally returned to The Waffle House in Ramsgate, South Africa—and it did not disappoint. The variety on offer is impressive—from sweet classics with fresh fruit and cream, to savoury options featuring ingredients like chicken mayo, bacon, or even curry mince. There truly is something for everyone. What stood out just as much as the food was the attentiveness of the staff—quick service with a smile, and a clear sense of pride in what they do. After three decades, The Waffle House is still delivering excellence. Whether you’re a first-timer or returning after years like me, it’s a must-visit if you’re in Ramsgate. The blend of tradition, flavour, and charm makes this more than a meal—it’s an experience.

Enjoyed my meal and drinks here very much. The rock shandy was crisp and refreshing & the watermelon, mint lemonade was also very good. Had the bobotie and it was top notch. A+ Would recomend.

A restaurant that stands the test of time. Food and service were amazing. Food is amazing, tasty and filling. Prices are a-bit of a shock but you get what you pay for.
