The 7 Best Hostels in Medellin (Updated 2025)

"Located in the upscale Laureles neighborhood, I found this a fun, affordable hostel with dorms covered in South American and Colombian cultural artwork by local students; each bed has a large locker and a privacy divider and the pillows are notably comfortable. The kitchen has the basics, the Paisa Bar and sundeck host local musicians, and the terrace often features live bands. They run lots of free events (Spanish lessons, salsa classes, karaoke, stand-up comedy, open mic), so it’s a socially lively spot where you can also get decent sleep thanks to the privacy features." - Matthew Kepnes

The Wandering Paisa is one of the safest places to stay in Medellín. It is in a WONDERFUL location. The staff are employees and not volunteers. Security it good, with cameras. The ambiance is friendly and clean. There's a bar, a community kitchen with good cookware, not cheap/broken/burnt no sense. I cannot recommend this place enough for the savy traveler. ☔

Best value for money, highly recommend! I had an amazing stay at this hostel. The value for money is honestly the best I’ve seen: you get so much for what you pay. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made me feel at home right away. The location is perfect: it’s in a lively but safe neighborhood, and it’s really close to the stadium, so it’s ideal if you’re planning to catch a game. The atmosphere in the hostel is great, very social and easy to meet people, whether you’re traveling solo or with friends. That said, it’s not a crazy party hostel, so you can still get a good night’s sleep. Everything was clean, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout my stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable, and well-located place to stay.

Amazing price and it was even better value! Hot showers, great WiFi and beds were comfy too. The staff on the front desk were nice too :)

Best hostel in Laureles. Sociable, friendly staff and good facilities. The rooms are a bit tight for packing your bags. But it’s worth staying here!

I had a great time at The Wandering Paisa Hostel in Medellín. The hostel has a really welcoming and laid-back vibe, and it’s located in the Laureles neighborhood, which feels more local and authentic than the busier Poblado area. The staff were super friendly and always ready to help. I loved the social activities, like the free salsa lessons and the language exchange nights—they made it easy to meet other travelers. The common areas were cozy, and the bar had reasonably priced drinks. My dorm room had a/c, but overall, I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a fun and genuine experience in Medellín.

Perfectly sized room for me (hostel standards). The staff was nice. Beer and water at the front desk. The AC drain pipe routed to the bathroom stall, but oh well, it’s a hostel. I liked my stay and will use them again.

Location wasn't in the best neighborhood certainly two stars service was excellent as they will check you in 24 hours a day if you're getting in from the airport a bit late. Rooms a bit cluttered and crowded.

If I could knock off half a star I would. Overall, this is a fantastic location to stay at. The staff are friendly. The prices are affordable. It is close to the metro. And you meet some great/interesting people. I’ll be staying here next time I come to Colombia. The only reason for the half star deduction was for one of the late night staff/receptionist. It seemed as though she did not know what she was doing. She left the front desk unattended, so I had to wait to be let in, which was not an issue. When I purchased a beer, she came at me aggressively asking where I got the beer, even though she saw me standing at the bar. Even with the displeasure with one of the staff members, it does not warrant a full star downgrade since the overall staff is quite friendly and helpful.
