Pleasant waterfront restaurant with good food and great coffee, friendly staff and a lovely view over the water. It’s a relaxing spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere – just be aware of the seagulls if you’re dining outside!

Wonderful location. Service was good despite being busy. Big Brekky Burger and Big Breakfast got the job done. Enjoyable vanilla latte and dirty chai.

Disappointing and overpriced. Limited menu options. Got the chicken burger and had the most pathetic scrap of paper thin chicken, and a freezer burnt bun, with a tablespoon on soggy coleslaw, for $25!! that doesn’t even come with chips! As a local it’s Very disappointing, definitely won’t be returning to waste any more money.

A cosy and welcoming spot on a cold winter’s day. The portions were generous, and every dish was delicious. The service was kind and attentive, with a thoughtful touch that made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

Had a lovely breakfast at The Waterfront Cafe in Merimbula. eggs benedict with smoked salmon for me, and a burger for my husband, both delicious. The view of the lake was absolutely dreamy, and the service was friendly and prompt.

A great place to go. Must stop in if in Merimbula. Get the chilli scrambled eggs and prawns, they are next level. So amazing. The big breakfast is also quality, poached eggs were on point and the homemade ham hock beans were delicious.

I took my wife and 3 year old here for lunch on Saturday 1st Feb 2025. This by far is the best fish and chips I have ever eaten in 30 years. The salad was amazing - only would have preferred more radish and red onion. The chips make other chips taste like those potatoes that sit in a cupboard too long and grow roots from them. I couldn’t recommend to go here more, specifically for this dish. Will be back again the next time I am down :)

Yelp
The Waterfront was THE most popular spot in Merimbula for breakfast and brunch, and no wonder. It was right on the town boardwalk, with open views of the estuary beyond. It had everything such a place should have: decent food, good coffee, and people watching. There was also plenty of parking nearby on an expanded section of roadway next to the visitor center. Like a lot of places in town, the menu was a little small. They had one type of omelet, an eggs benedict dish, one pancake dish, etc. I chose the "eggs my way" dish on both my visits, since I just wanted something basic and flexible. This came with a number of optional side for an extra cost: baked beans, spinach, roasted tomatoes, sausage or bacon. (Australian bacon is like a piece of Canadian bacon joined to a piece of american bacon - back bacon meets pork belly). We saw a lot of regulars here, with a few sitting in the same spots (I assume they get there early). Nice hometown feel, but that's true of a lot of places in Merimbula. A really nice spot, but not my favorite in town (that role is filled by Bar Beach Kiosk); Grading on the local curve, this one gets 4 stars.

Yelp
Another gem in Merimbula. This is a favorite of the local first responders, and it's no mystery why. Coming from the US, where eggs Benedict with house made hollandaise is a rarity, theirs is superb. While I haven't had it, many of my coworkers rave about the house made OJ too. For that matter, they have all enjoyed their meals to a man (and woman).
