The view and sound of waves from the balcony were absolutely amazing. We stayed here during our vacation last February and loved it. The beds are very comfortable with really nice bedding. Delicious coffee. Nice bottle of wine. Wonderful shampoo, conditioner, and bath wash. Highly recommend.

My partner and I recently stayed at Waves and when I tell you it was everything! Upon arrival we walked in and was met with kind welcome and a bottle of wine. Once we entered the room it was beyond peaceful, beautiful, with the waves welcoming you at the balcony. The atmosphere relaxing if we didn't have the door open we slept on the balcony. During our staying was Thanksgiving and the host was kind enough to show us to the market so we can have our own dinner due to the restaurant being closed for the holiday. He even share some details and advice to make the experience even better. We loved everything about our stay honestly the communication even before we arrived warm and pleasant. A car is a great addition when visiting unless you only plan to stay on the premises, which you can't go wrong either way the restaurant, bar, and a few other nice spots in walking distance will leave you satisfied no matter what. We are already planning our way back. I highly recommend Waves you won't be disappointed. A Waves Lover❤️

Rooms are exactly as described. No obstructed views of the sea. The sound of waves crashing against the grotto was so relaxing. Only a few minutes walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Also a really nice restaurant is onsite (“Ama” food was delicious), be sure to book dinner reservations there ahead of your stay.

My husband and I stayed at Waves at Cane Bay for one night to celebrate our 9th anniversary, and we were absolutely blown away! From the moment we arrived, it was clear that the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. They had a beautiful flower arrangement waiting for us along with a bottle of wine , which was such a thoughtful touch. The view and the sound of the waves created the perfect vibe for a romantic getaway. Honestly, I could’ve slept on the balcony—the ambiance was just that amazing. Waking up to see the moon lighting up the sea was truly magical. It’s one of those sights you have to experience in person because photos simply can’t capture its beauty. We had some trouble making our original check-in time, but Charlette was incredibly accommodating and made the process seamless. Both check-in and check-out were a breeze, which added to the stress-free experience. If you’re looking for a romantic, scenic retreat for two, Waves at Cane Bay is an absolute must. This place is an island gem, and we can’t wait to come back!

Google
Very quiet and relaxing boutique hotel. Great views and friendly staff. Checkin to checkout was very efficient. Center of everything it felt like. Easy to get around the island from where they are located. Would stay again for sure. Wish we could have stayed longer. Diane and Tom were very cordial and helpful

Google
Incredible service! We were provided housekeeping daily, beach chairs were available to check out at no charge, there’s a beach bag available and several beach towels. Staff was very responsive via text or in-person. The only downside was the septic smell because of how close we were to the office. It wasn’t often but when it did hit….😳

Google
Incredible. Spectacular. Peaceful. As a photographer (I live here on St. Croix), I was looking for two things during my staycation; a nice backdrop for photos inside and out, and to feel like I was away from home. Waves Cane Bay could not have suited my needs more. I was blown away by my experience staying at this gorgeous boutique hotel. Just 20 minutes from home, and I felt like I had traveled to another island. Booking the ‘superior’ room was well worth it for the additional space, and the privacy was unmatched. The room had a calm and relaxing feeling and the VIEW!!! All you can see and hear were sea waves crashing, and hills in the distance. Sunsets were unreal, and the night sky filled with stars. AMA restaurant was delicious, and accommodated a plant based diet. Chef even came out to make sure it was delish, and it was! Just a short walk to Cane Bay beach, where Sunnyside Up Food truck was stationed to offer breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would DEFINITELY stay here again.

Google
Such a beautiful and relaxing boutique hotel! The view from the balcony was breathtaking and the AC worked great in the room! We will be back again! The restaurant next door “Amas” was delicious! We were also thankful that we could hear the waves while sleeping!

Yelp
Outstanding location and ambiance and very good food. I've been to over 50 countries and this is the prettiest restaurant that I have ever been to. Set right up against the Caribbean Sea, with waves crashing over the rocks and splashing at your feet while you watch the sunset is a magical and unforgettable experience. Make e reservation for 5 pm when it opens. The food was very good and was the wine and cocktail selection. There is a separate bar above the restaurant too. If I am back in St. Croix, I will definitely go back. We tried the Tuna ceviche which was excellent with unique flavors. The lobster pasta was very light and tasty. The only negative was our waiter who was grumpy but efficient.
google avatar

Janet G.

Yelp
Dinner at AMA was wonderful. I had a Caesar Salad which was very tasty with a smoked Caesar dressing. My husband had a melon and prosciutto salad that was amazing. Tuna special was cooked perfectly rare with a ginger soy sauce with polenta cake and asparagus. My husband had the grilled snapper which he said was excellent. Service was impeccable and what can I say about the atmosphere...absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend eating here if you are coming to St. Croix...Enjoy!

Yelp
Ama at Cane Bay was one of the highlights of my vacation! The ocean front dining, the food, the atmosphere and the service were incredible. My guests and I made reservations and were seated upon arrival. We had seafood dip for appetizers. Our entrees included fettuccine, salmon dish, and filet mignon. The steak and salmon stole the show. The food came out fast and plated perfectly. This oceanfront restaurant provided great photo opportunities for couples, solo visitors, and a ladies trip. Our server Jada was amazing. Highly recommend

Yelp
If you ever find yourself in St Croix, be sure to book a reservation at Ama. The location is dreamy (seaside dining with the sound of waves crashing on the rocky shoreline), and the food and drinks match the ambience. It's not as expensive as you might think either! Ama will always be on my must-have list when I'm in STX.
google avatar

Glenna K.

Yelp
I eat here every time I come to STX and it gets better every time! The view alone would be worth the trip, but the food keeps me coming back for more.

John G.

Yelp
Absolute five star setting. Tables are perched on a rocky ledge just a few feet from the crashing surf. Spectacular! Food was nearly that good. Crab dip appetizer was okay, but didn't taste much like crab. Filet was wonderful and lobster fra diavlo was not-too-spicy and had a lot of fresh local lobster meat. Fair warning...the drive to the restaurant on Northside is kind of terrifying. One and one-half lane, curving road cut through the brush on the edge of the water.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a lovely meal by the water. Friendly & attentive staff and excellent food. I was solo and didn't feel at all awkward - a great dinner

Yelp
We went for the bread pudding, and that's the only thing we'd return for. The atmosphere is incredible- waves literally crashing next to you...so relaxing. It was windy and we did not have a problem with bugs. Sadly, all of our food arrived cold. The Brussels sprouts came in a piping hot cast iron skillet and somehow were still cold. They were also pretty bitter unless you got one doused in the miso sauce. The mahi in coconut sauce was very bland and missing a vegetable and perhaps some hot sauce (or any sauce...) The filet was cooked well, and tender, and the veal reduction was very tasty, however we wouldn't pay $50 for it again. The bread pudding was very good, but we also wished the bread part was hotter. It's not TOO rum forward, and has chocolate swirls throughout. Our server was very friendly and we did not feel rushed at all. Oh, the French 75 was good but needed more bubbles in it, and the Firing Squad was "good" per the hubby. Worth it overall for the vibes, but maybe just go for drinks/dessert?
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
Amazing views great for a date night. I suggest you come around Sunset. They have a mixologist here and the staff is very knowledgeable about the food and has great recommendations. The menu does change up sometime and they have special features.
google avatar

Yelp
Unsure how to review. We arrived at 5:15 for our reservation. Massive rain storm.... lost power and said they couldn't serve us dinner. we received a phone call 2 minutes before our reservation and we were already in the parking lot. We completely got soaked with rain walking in to the restaurant . Sure would've been nice to know about this ahead of time..... We asked if we could buy a drink and they said yes..... Credit card machine had enough power to work .
google avatar

Ricky J.

Yelp
This place is worth every penny for the views and the ambiance. The food and service were also very good, make sure you get the crab dip. They have a Grotto pool that is absolutely stunning! It has all sorts of sea life swimming in it including a few eels!
google avatar

Pam B.

Yelp
Steak and lobster perfectly prepared! Mahi was delicious. EJ is wonderful and always glad to have him help us make great choices. Most beautiful view!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
This spot is magical!! It left us speechless with the incredible view!! The service was great and the food was delectable!
google avatar

Yelp
We stopped here with a reservation on our first night in St. Croix. I can see why their reservations are booked out and I am grateful we were able to get in here early. The food is absolutely amazing and full of flavor and the service was above and beyond not to mention the ambience of the ocean rolling in and the tiki torches gave it an amazing Atmosphere I wish we had more places like this back home make this must stop, but please remember you will need a reservation to get in here. This place stays crowded and busy!!!
google avatar

Isabella A.

Yelp
I love this restaurant, the food was delicious and the service amazing that tall guy Lee, he is amazing I recommend-this restaurant and the view the best in Cane-bay!!

Yelp
Excellent choice for our last meal here in STX. I booked a 5:30 reservation near the grotto for a sunset view with dinner and was thrilled with our seating. What an absolutely lovely setting. My cocktail was lacking a little - too sweet- and I wish I would have went with wine. Otherwise we loved dinner! The cheese plate was fantastic, and I enjoyed the yellowfin crudo as well - though I might soften up the beets a bit by shredding vs cubing. I had the almond crusted mahi and the coconut rice was excellent. Loved the fish as well. My daughters split the vegetable melange and I was able to try some - fantastic! The lobster fettuccini was ok to my palate - my son had wanted to try lobster and there was a generous portion of it atop a fairly unremarkable bed of fettuccini Alfredo. We shared the cheesecake creme brûlée to finish the evening. The server was lovely and was 100% willing to take our family photo - I'm sure she does that multiple times a day!
google avatar

Yelp
Stunning views, highly recommend making a reservation around sunset for a lovely show while you dine. Food was good and portions were generous. The menu does not have a ton of choices but that's how you know they do it right. I got a glass of wine for $11 which was super reasonable. Entrees were $30-40
google avatar

Richard S.

Yelp
The food, ambience, view and service was first rate. Everyone serves roasted Brussels sprouts these days, with varying results, but the sprouts here are the best I've tasted. The almond crusted mahi was delicious. I can't imagine a more beautiful view than from the tables at Ama. Some had pounding surf just a few feet away (but without splashing anyone, or the table). I would call this restaurant a required experience for all visitors. Prices are decent, compared to the restaurants in the Frederiksted area.

Emily S.

Yelp
We asked for the best table in the house, and we got it, right at sunset along the tidal pool. It was better than a sunset sail with crashing waves at our feet. The mixed drinks are standouts (the spicy tequila cocktail in particular). The food was also excellent (had the lobster pasta, mahi mahi and tuna tatare special). Even the peanut butter pie was atypically good. But the main reaon to go is the proposal-worthy romantic setting, one of the best I've seen except maybe the former St. Regis in Kauai.
google avatar

Betula F.

Yelp
OMGOODNESS....AMA I want youuuu. Sooooo during my last stay in St. Croix I was romanced by a handsome friend that thought my last night should end with upscale and class. The food was beyond AMAZING. The chef outdid himself. We had reservations however we sat by the bar as all the tables were reserved. I wish we had a table because the barstools made my legs feel weak when we got up. It could've been the man I was with that my legs tremble LOL....The bartender was extremely NICE. My glass of wine complimented my meal and ambience. This location is literally located by the beautiful waters of St.Crox. It was romantic. This was my top favorite restaurant that was worth the wait to end my trip. Try 'em
google avatar

Stacey S.

Yelp
Excellent ambiance , delicious food , great service! We enjoyed the New Years Eve meal , although very over priced for what you receive , I'm not sure what their regular meal pricing is but this restaurant is definitely higher than any other restaurant on the islands .
google avatar

Erik B.

Yelp
We come to Ama each year we visit St. Croix and believe it is the best dining on the island. The food is fantastic, the service good, and you cannot beat the view and sound of the ocean next to your table. Pro tip: ask for grotto seating when making your reservation to get a sea-side table.
google avatar

Eddie C.

Yelp
Ama Cane Bay is a romantic and appealing restaurant set high above overlooking the Caribbean Sea! The ambiance is a dimly lit with soft island music playing in the background. Options for seating is lower level view of the ocean with unobstructed views or covered patio dining. Tables are limited so reservations are highly recommended. It may be the most desired upscale restaurant on the island and we came here to celebrate a birthday. The dining experience was amazing and the staff was attentive, courteous and friendly. All of our dishes was exquisite including the desserts. They have excellent drink specials including the Old Cuban and Vodka Punch. Great place to celebrate an event or splurge with great friends. Big Fan!
google avatar

Francine C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Apps, Seafood & drinks were so delish! Ask the bartender to suggest a new twist on a fav drink! The view from the lower deck was so beautiful an hour before sunset!
google avatar

Robb K.

Yelp
So far, the best on St Croix's north/west side. From start to finish our first dining experience was simply awesome. Because of the drive distance and potential traffic we left the house early AND arrived early. Rather than just be seated at our table we went to the outside Bar for mojitos (with fresh mint); the drinks were delish! The conversation by the outside Bartender and most certainly the sunset were both a delight. At the appointed time for our actual reservation we were greeted by the Hostess who made us feel special,"I really think you'll like the table we have for you tonight," and she wasn't wrong. Our Server, Tony, conducted himself with the utmost professionalism, complete with a "boyish" smile and always made sure nothing was out of place including topping off our water glasses whenever needed. At no time during the night did we feel rushed. The food was prepared to perfection; ceviche (app) with Seared Salmon and Filet as the main courses. The restaurant's Inside Bartender delivered our drinks to the table and encouraged us to try them before she left. Grotto seating? We sat next to the ocean; any closer and you would be in the water. Seeing the sun continue to set as we sipped our mojito's was a great experience. We'll be back for sure!
google avatar

Jess S.

Yelp
Wow wow what an amazing view to go along with the amazingly delish food. The cocktails were also fantastic, and even though we ate at the bar (we didn't book in time) the ambiance was still amazing and we could turn around at any point and see the view. But just know that if you're sitting at the bar, you are facing generally away from the ocean. But you can always go up and see the ocean otherwise. If you're just trying to go for the view and some drinks - the bar here is separate than the one right above it. I think it's Sunset bar? You don't need a reservation for that one. The only thing with the oceanside view is I would make sure it's not going to rain lol.
google avatar

Eric D.

Yelp
Beautiful setting right on the ocean. Very good food and drinks. Great service. A lovely evening.

Mike H.

Yelp
This dining experience was our favorite setting on the island... it is literally ON the water at Cane Bay. The hot crab dip appetizer was delicious & our dinners were amazing. Fresh wahoo was the special that evening and was buttery & perfectly cooked. Very attentive service, but the highlight here is the setting!
google avatar

Kayla G.

Yelp
Ehhhh.... Besides the server this place was actually mid asf. The medium well steak was actually beyond well done. The signature drink for the evening, called a midnight banana was not it. Granted it's right right off the ocean and you can see waves crash up on a rocky shore; however for a $49 stalk, it should have been a bit better. My boyfriend's mashed potatoes were a bit cold and he spoke up. I believe Jaida was our server. View was one of the best on the island for a sunset.
google avatar

Ruin R.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food and a great location. Loved dining with the waves coming in just feet away. Great place for date night or to enjoy the sunset. Service was on point.
google avatar

Martin T.

Yelp
OMG. Most perfect restaurant meal. Everything was superb. Absolutely gorgeous location up close to the crashing waves. My wife had an outstanding French 75 to start. The smoked Caesar salad was savory and delicious and paired wonderfully with the crab soufflé dip. The salmon was perfectly cooked in a curry sauce and the Ahi tuna special over rice was marvelous. The key west key lime pie was orgasmically good. Every dish had us awed and extolling its virtues. Service was great. A perfect start to a St. Croix vacation. Don't miss this extraordinary small, intimate restaurant. Hats off to the chef.
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
The best dining view on the island. At times they have to close the lower deck if the waves are too high. You are on the water eating amazing food and enjoying great drinks. Hard to beat.
google avatar

Bishop S.

Yelp
Amazing food ..service and veiws. Excellent place for date night or to impress your clients or friends. Two bars, upper deck and lower, beautiful hotel as well, with every room giving an awesome view of the Caribbean Sea, and the waves crashing in your ears constantly. Make reservations or you will be disappointed... You've been warned ,make reservations for dining, seating is limited.
google avatar

Sara D.

Yelp
By far the best meal we had on the island and the best ambiance and service. This place is literally right on the water so the ocean breeze and soft sounds of waves crashing against the rocks were nice additions to the overall experience. Definitely a great place to go for a romantic dinner, but if you go with a group you can sample more of the menu so keep that in mind.
google avatar

Alison B.

Yelp
Amazing ambience! We had booked seats at the bar but they had a table right down on the sea wall. It was secluded from the other tables and perfect view of the water! We had the crab soufflé - yum! I had a bela Rosa cocktail - delicious! And then we had the lobster fettuccine and the mahi - both were amazing! Key lime pie and chocolate chip bread pudding for desert made it all perfect! The only thing I'd say is that we got seated at 6 and finally just asked for our desert to go after we had waited for 10 plus minutes for desert. It's darker down by where we were seated and it had been a long day so we were just done. They were nice enough to box everything up but no plastic wear to go. Beyond that - there was absolutely nothing to complain about as our server was gracious and everything was wonderful! So romantic!
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
First, the food is incredible. We basically ordered everything on the menu. Can't go wrong with anything. Negative: DO NOT go before 6:00. The sun will beat you within an inch of your life. They also said the fans were broken, but happened to work as soon as we paid our bill. Also, the mosquitos were savage. Think I left with 26 bites.

John B.

Yelp
I am not one who writes reviews. Tonight, I'm motivated. Went to AMA and got to admit, I didn't have a good experience. Success in life is a straightforward proposition. Give your client/ guest a good experience and they'll come back. Been there twice. First time was an awesome experience, so I went back. Tonight was a bit different, and I won't be going back. TLDR: Was insulted by the wait staff and then got my entrée ice cold. The wait staff ... the wait staff could use "charm school". Never tell your guest that you are to "sophisticated of an establishment" to offer them a cocktail that is not on the menu. You have the ingredients. Make the drink. Charge double if it offends you! Sorry, I like Lime in the Coconut and when I saw the table next to me enjoying theirs in that cool Tiki Glass, I wanted one too! You have $6 canned beer including Coor's light so I'm not sure where you draw the line regarding sophistication. A simple "we don't have that; it came from the bar up the stairs" would have sufficed. Serve your food hot ... you served your most expensive entrée ice cold. I got the "spiel" on how great the filet is. OK, I appreciate a good cut of beef, let's have it! When I finally got it, it was ice cold. Beef, greens, and mashed potatoes...not lukewarm, cold. No guest wants to tell you that their food is cold, then no guest wants to tell you it's cold after you take it away and bring it out cold again. Treat your customers like they are paying you for the service and give them food that's hot!
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
Dinner at Ama during sunset was absolutely perfect. We sat in the grotto, with the waves splashing around us. The food and drinks were good. The views were spectacular. Service was good.

Mark T.

Yelp
Absolutely the most beautiful setting for a restaurant!!!! Service was amazing Food was a let down after all the hype. But for romance and beauty it's the best.
google avatar

Christina R.

Yelp
Amazing staff, wonderful flavorful food. Enjoyed a relaxing sunset anniversary dinner. We both had Lamb chops (one of the specials for the night.) Tender, tasty, the spinach was so flavorful. I also had the cauliflower bisque. Amazing. We finished with tiramisu and frozen chocolate soufflé. My heart is happy and my belly is full.
google avatar

Chéri F.

Yelp
Another good evening watching the sunset and trying some new cocktails with fresh passion fruit at the Sunset Bar!

Kelly A.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant for a special occasion. The host was extremely slow and dismissive when we arrived timely for our reservation. Then, it took about 1 hour to get drinks and appetizers. Overall the service was very unpleasant, slow and non engaging. The whole dinner took almost 3 hours! We ordered the steak and it was overcooked and cold. The views were nice but we can't eat the views. Go to Hamiltons for a great steak and fresh lobster! Or to the boardwalk if you want the view and food.

Cheyenne H.

Yelp
You must eat here! Cocktails are top notch and the food leaves nothing to be desired. It's exactly what you'd hope for when thinking of a high quality meal with breathtaking St.Croix views.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Pretty Amazing restaurant on the North Shore. Beautiful setting right on the water. The food was amazing. Fish tasted fresh out of the water. Bartender forged some immaculate cocktails, and the wine list was top class. Note: you must make a reservation via their website and DEFINITELY best to do it at least a day in advance as they seemingly fill all tables most... if not all nights. Also note, they do have an outdoor lounge that only serves quacamole and ceviche only for snacks, but both are delicious. Ama is a 'must try' sort of place if you're staying in the area.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
LOCATION: Amazing dining locale for a romantic sunset evening. Bring your sunglasses and come before sunset. The 30-40 minutes AFTER sunset are truly golden. The ocean was up so the lower dining level was cleared of tables. We dined on the upper deck and escaped getting wet. SERVICE: The waiter was too familiar. The term, 'smarmy' came to mind as the waiter tried to wow us. FOOD: The food was solid but not anything to draw foodies. The big hooray was for the amazing Brussel sprouts. Excellent!! But the rest of the dinner was downhill. Both the daily special Crab encrusted Wahoo and the Almond encrusted Mahi were over cooked. The Mahi was actually tough and dry. The shrimp ceviche was NOT ceviche at all (which should be acidic with the vinegar used to cook the seafood) but rather boiled shrimp tossed with some cucumber. Nasty. Couldn't find much crab in the crab dip. It was just a mayo based sauce. Truffle infused mash potatoes was very good and well matched with the Wahoo. Tiramisu was a firm affair that was on the dry side and relatively tasteless.
google avatar

Susan D.

Yelp
This place is special: appropriate for both fancy dining or more casual drinks at the Sunset bar. The views are insane, the cocktails and dinner was excellent. I'm shocked I didn't take any pics of the food. I wish I could give 4.75 stars, the only ding was requesting the table by the water (as specified in the reservation) and was accommodated promptly, yet I sensed a bit begrudgingly, which set the brusque tone of service for the rest of the eve. Nonetheless, this should definitely be on your must dine list if on the island.
google avatar

Melanie P.

Yelp
The ambiance is everything!! You are right on the water, and the food is delicious!!! The service was not the greatest but that's normal in the territory!!

Taylor N.

Yelp
Beautiful place for dinner. Amazing view with the sound of the ocean crashing next to you made for the perfect ambiance. Food was fantastic and fresh. Staff were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We recently had an amazing dinner at Ama Cane Bay. From appetizers to the desserts everything was delicious and well presented. Thanks Chef Faheem and his staff.
