What can I say? Our unit was right on the beach and was simply spectacular. We were so close to town and walking distance to everything. My favorite? The fireplace . Anyone wanting a romantic weekend, this is definitely a great spot. In addition, free parking was a plus too!

We came down for the king tide and spent one night. Our room had a nice view of the beach and our room was very comfortable. Walking distance to the beach and restaurants so you don't need to drive your car. 2nd time staying here. We'll be back. Thank you.

We were so pleasantly surprised! Our friend had recommended a resort that was sold out, lucky for us. I found The Waves on Trip advisor and it had good reviews. I booked a room and I was delighted when we arrived. We had a beautiful 1st floor room with a kitchen and an oceanview balcony, with direct access to the beach. Our room also had a fireplace! It was so romantic! We had dinner reservations which we cancelled to have a picnic on our balcony! The town was so picturesque and quaint! lots of little shops, restaurants and the beach!!! so much to do! Definitely going back!

We've been relaxing at Cannon Beach since the 70s when you had to rely on books and mags for information. But we usually stayed south of town. Not sure why but we usually rent a house. We recently lost a puppy of 17 years and needed a last minute break and found this through our online search. It was one of those perfect weekends when everything just fell into place. Yes, these have been around a while but they are clean, comfortable and right on the beach. And less than 5 minutes to get something to eat. Staff was excellent. And we watched the elk show Saturday night with an encore Sunday morning. And we've had enough views of Haystack, the rocks and the lighthouse to the north has more to offer.

I stayed in the White Heron Lodge portion of this resort. There are two 4-plexes off the beaten path, but still very close to everything. It is on the far end of the beach so it is very private. The room itself was very spacious, clean and charming. Loved the fireplace, comfy bed and incredible views. Everything is within walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again. Pictures you see of the room on the website are acurate.

Google
Only there one night, but enjoyed. Great walkable location to shops, restaurants, and beach sunset! Room was ready early so they let us check in and start our adventures. Nice 2nd floor balcony view of stream and ocean. Very comfortable beds! Nicely appointed kitchen with everything we needed. Great shower!

Google
The construction of the place was well-designed and maintained considering the ocean winds constantly hit the Waves. Of course, we looked at them as designers and contractors. Our suite was pleasant and clean. Cleaner than most high-end hotels that we have been to. I would highly recommend this place.

Google
Great place to stay. Right on and off the beach. Rooms are clean and staff is awesome. I do have a small ask..better mattresses would be make me stay here again. Getting old and it was too uncomfortable.

Tawna A.

Yelp
We loved our stay. The hotel manager was amazing in finding us just the right room for the price we were looking for! We had a partial view from our deck which was perfect. We were able to check in early which we were so happy about. We loved that the room had a big jetted tub that was appreciated after a long walk on the beach! The bed was very comfortable as well. We loved staying there and will want to again.

Michael M.

Yelp
We had the Ocean view suite and the view was stunning! The owner was personable and we were able to check in early! Clean rooms, spacious and comfortable!

Christie S.

Yelp
Great room, exactly as pictured on the website (sorry I didn't take pics to post on Yelp!). Newly remodeled, clean, and comfortable. We were in #106 "Garden Court", but there was no garden to be found. We overlooked the parking lot. It didn't matter, we were out most of the days. Great location to walk around town. Decent walk to Haystack Rock, but easy and nice. We'd definitely stay again, maybe try for an ocean view room next time.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Room was clean, comfortable, and had a spectacular view. The kitchenette had everything you could want. Beautiful view and walking distance to many shops, restaurants, and Haystack rock. The only drawback was that we were on the first floor and could hear our neighbors walking above us, but even that didn't dampen our amazing stay.

Yelp
My wife and I honeymooned here for 7 days this august, all in the king La Colina suite. I travel nonstop for work and I can say this was one of the best hotel experiences ever. The service was just right, they strategically bring fresh towels and do housekeeping around your schedule. The fireplace and kitchenette were perfect. The location couldn't be better. It was the perfect place to kick off our marriage!

Lisa L.

Yelp
Not only have I never given a yelp review, it's certainly not like me to give a negative one however I am making an exception. while there is now a 3 night minimum for certain rooms which is fine, we decided to take a chance and see if they would allow a two night stay at the last minute since it was so late in the week and one of the rooms had not yet been booked. The owner was gracious enough to agree but we had to call by 6PM on Thursday with the promise that if it hadn't been booked for the following three days, we could have it for two nights. After waiting all day, We called at six as requested and the owner then gave us the option to rent it for three nights with the third night reduced. We explained again that we could not stay 3 nights which is why we wanted two nights in the first place. They then came back and said we would have to wait until Friday morning (the day we planned to get there) at 9 am before they would give us an answer. Basically we waited all day for them to go back on their word. We had people waiting to hear back that were joining us as well as pet sitters lined up and waiting for us as well. We explained that they lost a long time customer as we have stayed there numerous times and enjoyed it very much. I doubt they care. It's a sad day when people can't keep their word. In my opinion this is just greed at it's finest. As a owner of an establishment such as this, I would much rather have happy guests that continue to come back than squabble over a few hundred dollars. Very disappointed.

Elle R.

Yelp
The price per night was $330. Quite expensive, but of course we understand it's because of the location. The 2 things good about this room was the comfortable bed and the very close proximity to the beach and the town. With that said, I took a few pics where improvement is definitely necessary. First pic shows 2 things - it was taken at around 9:00 pm. As you can see, the room has no darkening shades so it's never really very dark. Also - yuck - the table is full of watermarks, scratches, etc. looks terrible and we put nothing on it except for the little fan (no AC) they provided. Third pic is a view from the bed. Perhaps the picture can be replaced with a large big screen tv. The one provided was so small and in a weird place. Another pic shows the closet. Five hangers for 2 people? C'mon. Also, very awkward to get to your clothes. As you can see in the second pic, there is a huge space on the right where shelves could be installed. We had to store a lot of our clothes in our suitcase. The side tables were very small. Shelves would solve this problem. Finally, the bathroom. Again, as you can see, plenty of room to have a couple of shelves. Instead, we had to delicately balance our bathroom supplies along the sink and on the toilet tank. Ridiculous. Other complaints - we went grocery shopping and put our food in the fridge. Guess what? It wasn't even turned on, so our food was ruined. There's no full length mirror - plenty of room for one. Nor is there a magnifying mirror in the bathroom. Only enough coffee and sugar for one day? You should at least have a few days' worth. Windows don't open and there's no screen on the back door, leading to the ocean so too bad if you want any cool ocean breeze heading into your room on these warm days. Don't waste your money!!

Yelp
This is our go-to spot to stay in Cannon Beach! They have several buildings so lots of different sizes and views to choose from when it comes to rooms. We prefer to get a room with a view of the ocean and most of them have balconies. We have visited Waves many times and have an excellent experience every time, even with COVID 19 restrictions. The rooms are consistently clean, some have fireplace and jacuzzi tubs, there are smaller rooms perfect for a couple or larger cabins that would accommodate a group. The location is within walking distance of downtown Cannon Beach and you can walk along the street or the beach to get there. It is a hike to get to Cannon Beach but the views are gorgeous even if you don't walk all the way down there. This area of the coast also has a small river right in front of the ocean that changes with the tides. Some people don't like this but I think it adds a unique element.

Frank B.

Yelp
I had booked a room for two nights at The Waves, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to cancel more than 24 hours before my scheduled arrival. Every hotel I have ever stayed at allows refunds if one cancels by 4:00 PM the day before arrival. The Waves said they would keep one full night's fee unless they rented that room. They kept over $400 despite the fact I had canceled a full day in advance. I learned my lesson: Don't ever book a room directly with The Waves!

Marcie K.

Yelp
Good location, great view, and a clean bathroom. That's where the good stuff ends. We paid $370 a night for this room (over $2,000 for five nights). The carpets are absolutely filthy (see photos) and there was a two foot hole/rip in the living room carpet, the couch was grossly dirty and broken down, and the whole place felt tired and grungy. The trim is beat up, the dining table had big scratches and large pieces of missing "wood" from the top.The deck area is missing a lot of shingles and looks a bit trashy. I had to scrub what looked like melted ice cream off the countertop when we arrived. Granted, hardly any of the motels or hotels in this area have air-conditioning, but this place is stifling hot. When we walked in our unit after check-in the thermostat read 87°. Everything was closed up tight when we arrived. I found one dirty box fan in a closet. Called down to the office to ask for another and was told that was all they had. She suggested leaving the front door of the shared unit open to get a cross breeze. It was 8 o'clock at night. Of course we couldn't leave the front door to the unit all night, and we had to close two of the three windows in the main part of the room because they had no screens (not uncommon in this area) and someone could have easily just crawled in the window next to my sleeping son. At 10:30 pm we couldn't stand the stifling heat (still 84 in the room), and I had to go buy two more fans 30 minutes away at W*lm*rt. I guess we will be gifting this place two $30 fans, because we can't take them home. Today it is supposed to be even hotter, and I do understand weather is out of their control, but it's been extremely hot in Cannon Beach the last two summers - it's not like it's a surprise to them. I would not recommend this place until they replace carpets and do some renovations. They also need to do something to compensate for the lack of airflow in the units. I've stayed weeks at a time in Cannon Beach and have never paid so much to stay in a run down property. I have no problem paying $2-3,000 for five nights as long as the place is clean and comfortable. This isn't that.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a lovely weekend away while staying at The Waves in Cannon Beach. Our room (La Colina King) was just perfect! Had an amazing view of the ocean and we loved laying in bed, looking out the window and enjoying the sounds of waves and seagulls in the distance. The fireplace is a nice touch as well. The room had a nice built-in booth by the windows, perfect for a sunset dinner. We enjoyed use of the stovetop and refrigerator in the room. Makes it easy to make meals and not have to go out if you don't want to, especially with Covid-19. The location can't be beat and is right around the corner from all the shops and restaurants in downtown Cannon Beach. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were sooooo soft! I want some for myself at home!! We have found our new place to escape to! We will definitely be back!! Only suggestion for improvement - better patio furniture.

Mikyung H.

Yelp
Great location. Beautiful view. Friendly, helpful staff. It was an amazing, unforgettable experience waking up to the breathtaking view every morning and walking along the beach. We spent a couple of nights here during my second trimester and it was very relaxing. The sunset was surreal, felt like I was in Lord of the Rings or something. I would love to return with my son one day and get some pictures of him by the Haystack rock. We stayed in the room with the kitchenette and fire place. It came fully stocked but some items need to be upgraded. Knife was quite dull, couldn't really make good use out of it.

Carrie H.

Yelp
Great place right on the beach. The views! So nice cuz with a full kitchen you could really nest if the weather is blustery. Thanksgiving at the beach! Gas fireplace, windows all around, comfy furniture, we had two bedrooms and two baths (plus a Murphy bed). No two rooms are identical. Lots of privacy with the way they angle the windows and the outdoor space. Located right in town, so there are tons of places to go and things to do without driving. Definitely a keeper.

Britta F.

Yelp
This place is NOT what it looks like online. The room was dirty, there was a simple push in lock on the door with no latch while vagrants were actively trying to get into the hotel. The hotel staff refused to give me my money back after I realized the hotel was NOTHING like what I thought I booked. Also, the room I had was over a garage and my "garden view" was of a driveway. The hotel needs updating desperately. I wouldn't pay more than 80$ for the room I got.

James D.

Yelp
The Waves Cannon Beach is hands down one of the most charming cottage-style motels I've ever stayed in. The Waves is conveniently located to numerous restaurants and a couple of bars and most importantly the beach. The motel is roughly a mile from Haystock Rock, which is simply magnificent in itself. We had the pleasure of staying on a third-floor beach facing queen which I highly recommend. The room came with a small kitchenette, quaint bathroom, comfortable bed, balcony and a fireplace. Enjoying the view on the balcony in the morning was my favorite part. Parking was easy, check in was great and it was an overall great experience. We will definitely stay here again!

Jeff B.

Yelp
Awful. We didn't even stay in the same buildings for the hotel. Unit 218 is above a pizza joint hidden away. Took us 30 min to find our room. There were no map, and only instructions by speech. For how much this room is this is unacceptable. I hope they sell this room off as this is just a business room changed to a small outdated hole in the wall. I'm never using this place again.

Alan S.

Yelp
Really disappointing. Mis-represented on the web site.... so basically fraud ....ocean view room of the parking lot.....wow But they were gracious enough to offer a refund after a 6 hour drive.....like that's an option....really Never again lost a customer for life !!!!!!!!!!

Tiare V.

Yelp
We've loved our stay here! Gorgeous views and the place is so close to everything in town. Our room was perfect and love the built in table! Deck was great for tanning as well!

Yolanda R.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing service! Had planned a surprise for my boyfriend and they definitely delivered! We got the flagship king studio I believe and it was beautiful! Beautiful view, fireplace and porch to see the ocean and about a 10 mins walk to haystack rock if that. Definitely coming back!

JM J.

Yelp
This was our first time staying at The Waves in Cannon Beach. We are very impressed with the property and the service. The location meets all of our needs for being able to walk into town. The rooms are clean & have everything you need. The view is wonderful. We are really glad we found this location. We booked another trip for October of this year. We highly recommend The Waves.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Very clean room! Excellent view, with beach access. 1block from the main st, and all the restaurants and shops are within a few short blocks.

paul d.

Yelp
We stayed in the building named La Colina. Very well appointed room. Renovated with a fine eye, good taste and at great expense. I was an architect, so I know. I have no interest or connection to the owner. The colors, carpeting, tile, and even the furniture are wonderful. Stickley furniture! Quiet at night too. Beach right out front. I highly recommend this place.

Lauren Y.

Yelp
Beautiful area, location and room. Couldn't have had a better getaway, this place is right in downtown with tons of shops and restaurants a few feet away. I will definitely be back! The only thing I don't love is as soon as you make your reservation, they'll charge one night on that card. Not a deal breaker, I'll definitely chose this place over any of the others.

Holly D.

Yelp
If you want a place with the most beautiful view you could ever have... choose this place!!! Make sure to get an ocean view room. We got a mini kitchen as well as a fireplace. We will most definitely be coming back yearly because we were so happy. You don't even need to leave your room at this place. The best view you're going to find is actually going to be your hotel room. We will be back !!!!!

Kimberleanne H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I just stayed at this lovely motel and had an excellent time as a late Valentine's Day celebration together! It would be silly to complain about anything because our stay was as close to perfect as possible! Staff was lovely and nice. There's a great selection of dvds in the lobby that can be watched for free. There is cable in the rooms which was also really nice! Our room was nice and quiet aside from a squeaky toilet, which wasn't an issue because it didn't hinder the function of the toilet. The kitchenette in our room was fully stocked and we took full use of it during our stay. We found it easier to park behind our room on the street than the provided parking lot. The back porch/deck was an added bonus which we used quite a bit. We'd exit the back and cross the street to the beach. It was absolutely perfect. We will definitely be back in the future!

Dee B.

Yelp
Stayed 2 night in the El Colima king studio. Upgraded, clean and ocean view. Loved it! Nice fireplace and separate heater in the bathroom. Location is great on 2nd. You can park and walk everywhere in town. Small grocery store close by. Cute sitting booth in room and own private patio. It is a-bit far from haystack, but nice long walk on the beach and you can be right there. I will definitely stay here again when I am in Cannon Beach.

Laurel C.

Yelp
Since I discovered the Waves in 2014 I have literally been back almost once per month. I read a review about it being dirty but that is my primary compliment to the Waves. It is immaculately clean. The rooms are not fancy or elegant but they are incredibly beachy and comfortable. You can't beat the location right on the beach and half a block from town. I am a self avowed clean freak. I have never seen one ounce of dust or dirt or grime anywhere on the Waves property. I have stayed in many rooms, including the White Heron vilified in an alternate review. Although I hate to send everyone in Portland straight to my favorite hotel, you really are missing out if you do not try it. It is worth every penny.

Patti I.

Yelp
I met here with family members from around the country for a reunion. What a great spot! One extended family rented the beach house and the rest of us got condos or rooms in nearby Waves facilities. All properties are close to each other and close to the beach, so it was ideal for a family gathering. We had dinners together in the beach house but could retreat to our own places when we felt like it. It was no more than a three minute walk between units. Wifi was great in the townhouses but slow and spotty in the main beach house. Beds were comfy, even the wall bed I used in the townhouse suite I shared with my sister and her husband. Kitchens were small but convenient and updated. The bathroom was a little dated but well-maintained. The prices here are not cheap but they are appropriate for what you get: clean, comfortable accommodations right on the beach with good service. I would stay here again.

joyce k.

Yelp
This was my second stay in the same room at the Waves. We rented the 1 bedroomn ocean view in the White Heron Lodge. The views are amazing and the deck is wonderful. This unit is on the first floor and you can step off your deck to a lawn and then through the sand right to the beach. This unit is further from town (still walking distance) but there is a little estuary and then a large sand bar befor you get to the actual ocean, which is great because I didn't have to worry about my son in the waves. It was also the perfect spot for a bonfire. The beds, even the wall bed, are comfortable. The kitchen is updated and has everything you need to prepare meals. The bathroom is a little small and could use a bit of updating, as can some of the furniture, but everything is clean and comfortable. I love that they have free movies (even new releases) to lend out. We had nothing but wonderful experiences with the staff. In fact, my son left a small stuffed animal behind. We didn't know it was gone until well after we were home and couldn't find it anywhere. Without even asking The Waves mailed it back to us at their expense. That was above and beyond in my book! Our first stay I was looking at hotel rooms through hotels.com. I called the hotel to see if the room I was looking at could accommodate my parents who can't navigate stairs. They told me it could and also had a lower rate then any of the websites so I booked directly with them. We will definately stay there again.

Bridget R.

Yelp
This is my second time staying at The Waves, and while it's pretty pricey, I've very much enjoyed both stays. Both times, I booked using Trip Advisor, so I can't touch on the booking process like some of these reviews mention, but I had no issues. You can't beat the location of this hotel, whether or not you have a view from your room. It's seconds to the beach and minutes from every restaurant/shop in town. Of course an ocean view is ideal but wasn't make or break for me since I figured I'd be spending most of my time outside enjoying the beach. Both rooms I've stayed in (queen guest room and lower lighthouse) were clean, cute, and just what I needed for a little getaway. For the price of the place, I'd expect more modern rooms with more amenities available, but there is a mini fridge and gas fireplace so I can't complain too much. Very cozy. There's an indoor hot tub that looks out to the ocean, which is awesome, although the windows could use some cleaning... they didn't mention the hot tub to us on our first stay, which would have been nice to know about. Generally, this has been a comfortable place to stay. Each place you can rent from the Waves (from what I can tell) is unique in what kind of view/set up you will have, but if you're not too picky and are just looking for a nice but basic hotel for your vacation, I'd recommend checking it out!

Lisa G.

Yelp
This was the perfect 3 day get away. The staff was exceptional and our view was incredible. Location near to everything including great restaurants right down the street. Withdraw definitely visit again.

Cathryn M.

Yelp
Well.....we thought the grounds were very well maintained and the room cleaning service was excellent..also check in.... appears to be nice owner's....maybe unaware of this practice that is happening which is still not fair. HOWEVER when paying close to $1000 for three days....the reservation would reflect the same room with 2 queensize beds.....not a room with a Murphy pull down bed that was so incredibly uncomfortable that it was difficult to sleep....my back is still not recovered. BEWARE...the reservation was changed to another room without authorization by the reservation clerk....or notification to us .... The owner did give us approximately $90 back....it didn't make up for the poor quality of the beds...when we asked specifically for 2 queen size beds that were comfortable!

Sandra G.

Yelp
Our stay here was in a king, beach view room with a private spa! The staff and owner could not have been kinder or more helpful. The room was perfection. SPOTLESS! the kitchen had everything we could have possibly needed. The spa was so relaxing! We loved our stay here so much we would make it an annual trip.....except this motel is not pet friendly. Other than that I could not say enough good things! Everything was absolutely WONDERFUL!!!!! You will not be disappointed in this motel!

Kyle T.

Yelp
Booked a room last minute. Had a partial beach view which was still amazing. Suite was clean and comfortable. It was right across from the beach and super convenient. The suite itself had a full kitchen and all the amenities you need. There was a nice shared hot tub that had a beach view as well. The staff were friendly and polite. There's also parking available

Tammie E.

Yelp
Don't let the word "motel" in the name fool you; this place is full of charm and it's RIGHT on the beach. I don't know why this place isn't more highly reviewed; there are SO many places in Cannon Beach that are CRAZY over-priced. This place is a great value (still more expensive than I wish to spend, but hey, it's right on the beach) and really has everything that you really need for a short get-away to this cute beach town. Here are the things we judged the hotel on: SERVICE: They don't go out of their way for you, but they are nice. Nothing extraordinary. But I'm not booking this hotel for the service; I'm staying here due to the location and price. ROOM: Cute and comfy. I suffer from chronic neck issues and the pillows and bed didn't bother me too much. We've stayed here twice, once with a great view of the beach, and other time no view of the beach but an amazing bay window where we could take siestas with the sun beating down on us. The ceilings are tall so you feel like the space is spacious. It's a basic room, but it was really comfortable. Parking is easy and off the street. LOCATION: Can't be beat. Unless you want to spend $200+ more a night to stay elsewhere on the beach. Every night (and every time) we end up having a campfire right on the beach, and it's perfect. Also, the location to town is great. Just a 5 minute walk to any number of the cute shops, grab a coffee, or some lunch. I kind of don't want to say such great things so I can still stay here without worrying too much about reservations. But this place deserves the rave. Go, it's cute, convenient, and perfectly located to town and the beach.

Laura C.

Yelp
Great location and views for a reasonable price. Walking distance from the Cannon Beach strip and a brisk walk down the beach from Haystack Rock. The carpet and furniture were a bit worn but the room offered all of the necessities needed. Just an FYI, they provide basic cooking utensils but not cooking staples like other rentals I've stayed in (butter, oil, spices, etc). Would be a nice addition! Wi-fi connection was spotty as well.

Brittany G.

Yelp
There are few times in my life where I will splurge on a hotel but this is the place to do it. As the first stop on our honeymoon Roadtrip we had heard great things about this place and were not disappointed. Our room had a king bed, small kitchenette and a deck that faced the ocean. The views were out of a magazine! The room was very clean and the property was very safe and secure. I would stay here every day if I could!

Cameron S.

Yelp
Came here for a quick overnight trip to get out of the city. My friend and I just got a garden room for 87.50. When we arrived the front desk receptionist told us she had upgraded us to an ocean view room at no charge. The room was also ready at 1:00pm even though check in wasn't until 3:00pm. Customer service was excellent along with the quality of the room. I would come back in a heart beat. It is conveniently located to great spots downtown too.

Anne R.

Yelp
Not worth the money, too expensive for the quality of the room. Jacuzzi not working, room not ready when we arrived, strange layout. There are much better options in Cannon Beach.

Vickki C.

Yelp
Came with family and had a great relaxed comfortable vacation at the Waves. I cannot say enough about the amenities, the views and the feeling of being home away from home. We were here last October and will return in 2017. The rental was clean and heavenly

William V.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at The Waves. The room was clean and modern and the service was excellent. Many restaurants and shops are within walking distance and the Ecola Park is nearby.

David B.

Yelp
This is for Sandcastle Condos - not The Waves Hotel - the condos are managed by The Waves at Cannon Beach. I wish we had stayed at the hotel. The upside - the staff at the front desk were very nice, professional and let us check out 5 movies which was great for having 2 cranky kids who had been traveling all day. The bad - the room was not ready on time, and once we got there (unit B1), it had a musty smell, and was very old and tired feeling. The balcony of the unit was roped off, obviously due to structural damage, and it looked unsafe. The bathroom's bathtub stopper was covered with mold, one of the burners on the stove did not work, the microwave was cracked, beer cap on the front deck, and an overall ick factor. Not a comfortable stay at all.

Britt B.

Yelp
I'm shocked to see that the Waves only gets 3 stars! We stayed here for our anniversary weekend and were both VERY pleased. It is in absolutely the best part of Cannon Beach, beachfront, oceanview, great lodge style room with kitchenette and fireplace...Who could complain? The Waves own a few different properties and we were in the La Colina. Pros: View, cozy decor, private balcony, indoor hot tub with ocean view! Cons: Skylights that let 6 a.m. sunlight in with no way to block it out. Bathroom is a bit dated, but clean and sufficient. You will not regret your stay here. We paid $700 for 3 nights.

Olystacy B.

Yelp
I am incredibly disappointed with the total lack of professionalism and unorganization this company has. They are also property managers for a condo, either on site or nearby that we wished to rent and therefore sent an email asking availability for the unit advertised. I received a response that it was available and they confirmed the price. I responded back that we wanted to rent and asked whether I should call to book or book through the website since they were having a buy 2 nights get 1 free and it wasnt showing when I tried to book online. I received a response that I should call but the number they gave me was wrong. So after some digging( and all within a few hours) I called the number (which rings to the Waves Motel). The gal I spoke to was disorganized, and confused albeit nice (Lisa). She went about getting ready to take my visa when I reminded her it was buy 2 get one free. She then told me it had already been rented. This is unbelievable at best. She then told me she had another unit and it was less than the one that had been rented out from underneath me. She *agreed* to give me the 3rd night free as advertised but then couldnt even assure me what was in the condo because she didnt have pictures or information yet. SHe did tell me it had enough for 6 people to sleep so I said I would take it and she started to process the reservation when she said it was now not showing availability. what the ??? She said she would try to figure out what was going on and call me back. She called later that night and I didnt hear my phone so she left a voicemail. I called back the next morning as soon as they were open and spoke to another gal (Paula since apparently Lisa wasnt there). I told her the story of the day before and asked if she had any information on the unit. After putting me on hold she came back and said she didnt know what Lisa was talking about when Lisa tried to tell her what had happened. She then, after several minutes, told me she did have a unit but it was even more than what the first one was quoted. Not to mention that Lisa had just told me the night before that the price was lower than the first unit. At this point, I just gave up. I would not want to stay in a place ran like this. Either dishonest or totally disorganized and inept. If I owned a condo there I would be switching to a different property management at first opportunity. What makes me mad is I was weighing in between this and another unit and during the time it took me to deal with this, the other unit was reserved. I make reservations for our family quite frequently and have never encountered such bad service. If you choose to stay here or the condo's, good luck.

Yelp
Stayed in one of the flagship rooms with another couple. The ocean view was fantastic, especially early in the raining morning. The air smells fresh. The beds were incredibly comfortable. 3 couples could definitely fit. I personally would have been happy to sleep in the living room on the Murphy bed because you would wake up to an ocean view. The room was spacious and cozy. Plus, the staff was incredibly nice! Definitely reccomend.

Yelp
My fiance and I stayed at The Waves for our engagement weekend. We booked the La Colina Queen Studio. While we found the room comfortable, we were disappointed with how The Waves positioned the room. While the site does note "ocean view", the photos and description on their website depict something completely different than the actual view. Yes, there is an ocean view, but they fail to note that the room is ground level with a parking lot directly in front of the "private" balcony, i.e. we had cars parked directly in front of our window/balcony at all times and unless we closed the shades (which is not the point when you pay for an ocean view room), we had guests/cars regularly passing in front of our room at eye-level at all times of day. The photos on their website seem to have gone through a bit of selective editing to remove the parking lot from view, which is dishonest. And while the deck is only accessible to the studio, it is in no way "private" as noted on the site. Also, the balcony light was on at all times and the shades do not block out the light. So, we struggled to sleep well. The room was clean and located right in town, which was convenient. Unfortunately, we felt disappointed that The Waves was not more honest in its description, particularly given the importance of the weekend, as we would have stayed elsewhere for the privacy and view we were hoping for. It appears this feedback has been provided on Trip Advisor by other guests, as well (one as old as 2013), yet no updates were made to their site at the time of our booking. We did check if another room was available, which it was not. No compensation or apology was offered, which is poor customer service.

Yelp
Updating my review with some photos. I love this hotel. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and I've now seen three of them. I stayed in the Flagship room for a business trip. I had a complicated reservation and The Waves handled it perfectly. I had a two day business trip, one night booked by my company, another from a travel agent for my company, and three I booked myself to tag on a vacation. The Waves exceeded my expectations and had already anticipated my concerns, upgrading one of my rooms free of charge so I could stay in the same room for the first two nights, and let me stay past check out time on the third day until the second room was ready. Absolutely excellent customer service. Their main Flagship room (#404), not in these photos, is absolutely massive. Two bedrooms, living room, dining room, full kitchen, and rents for $289?! in off season. I've never seen such a beautiful room for so cheap, even in off season. It is so nice to go to sleep to the sound of the fire and sit looking out at the beach. My only negative is that it's spoiled me so much that I want to live here now and don't want to go home.
