"The Well at Jordan’s Farm You’ve heard of farm-to-table, but the Well at Jordan’s Farm takes it to another level: farm- as -table. Culinary Institute of America grad Jason Williams sources most of the ingredients for his daily-changing menu from what’s in season here on Jordan’s Farm, a 122-acre land trust property operated by the third generation of Jordans. Reservations are essential to get a seat at this alfresco restaurant—there are only a few at the kitchen counter as well as a handful of picnic tables and dining gazebos around the grounds. For a small donation, pick fresh flowers for the table. Bring your own alcohol, and leave the credit card behind; this is a cash-only establishment."

Stop questioning - look no further. We got off the waitlist thanks to someone cancelling their 5:30 reservation. the Well was incredible. The vibes, the service, the food, the wine pairing. Came here to celebrate our 5th anniversary and learned it was their second to last night. Stef/steph our waitress was so kind and knowledgeable. She knew all the wine nuances, the food was presented and tasted amazing. Menu changes regularly so this is what we were lucky to have tonight! Will absolutely go back next time we’re in main.

Such a fun and unique dining experience. This was a highlight of our vacation in Maine for sure. Every course was delicious. We also had the wine pairing with our meal and found some wines we really loved.

What an amazing evening! From the five course meal that was delicious to the friendly and kind staff to the firepit outside the night was fantastic. What a hidden and wonderful gem! I highly recommend.

The Well is an incredible experience every time. Book in January for the coming summer and then enjoy a perfect, locally sourced chef's tasting menu in a gorgeous farm setting. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.

There are different experiences to be had here, all of which are great. Chefs table/menu - 5 courses. Gazebos for family sized parties overlooking a portion of the farm. And my personal favorite - Arriving early for first sitting - alla carte menu - at the open air picnic tables w/shared seating. Service and food have been 100% for me each of my 5 visits over the past 3 years.

Last night we had a wonderful celebration meal with 3 good friends. It was my 3rd time eating at “the well” and I have to say each time has been a fantastic meal. The super fresh farm to table ingredients can’t be beat, quality culinary craftsmanship , attention to detail, and the plating were stand out if not stellar. My greatest appreciation for this place is their general willingness to happily work with food restrictions. I am always nervous when eating out that my food needs make me seem high maintenance and difficult. The waitstaff made me feel like the modifications I needed were no big deal. Which made my dining experience even more of a pleasure. *Celiac and Keto friendly.

We try to go at least once a season to The Well for a gazebo tasting menu with family or friends. One of a kind experience, always delicious and friendly knowledgeable service . They are extremely accommodating if you have an allergy or aversion to certain ingredients.

This meal was absolutely one of the best meals Ive ever had! The desert was definitely the best! Every course including the drinks all were perfect. I hope one day to come back again!

Yelp
My husband and I came to The Well to celebrate our anniversary and what a wonderful place. The gazebos, the barn with picnic tables, the fire pit ... all add to the unique dining experience. My husband and I opted for the 5 course tasting menu and we were not disappointed. The flavors on all our dishes were strong vibrant and delicious. The staff was great and was even able to provide a tasting menu to fit our dietary restrictions. We even loved sitting in the main kitchen overlooking the chefs. We were able to interact with them and thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Well.

Yelp
Ambiance is incredible. Private gazebos by candle light in the middle of a farm field. O la la!! Farm-to-table dining. Truly is a magical atmosphere. We chose family style dining and the food quantities are astounding. Enough to feed many, many hungry people. The payment is made at time of reservation including gratuities. Be sure to reserve early the entire summer was booked except for one slot when we called in April. Staff is friendly but offer no wine pairings, no explanations of the food being served and are only present to deliver food and leave. Strange and also doesn't add to the experience. Also doesn't make you feel great about prepaying a gratuity of 18% for every diner in your party. The food was ok. I appreciate that they use all fresh quality and you could definitely detect that in the flavors. But the wow factor was not there. The food was something I can cook myself. Everything is smoked and has a monotone flavor of smoke. The only highlight was the fresh donuts with blueberries served as dessert. Go for the atmosphere because it is lovely, you will be full, but don't expect to be amazed by the culinary experience.

Yelp
So, I made a return trip here after a 3 year hiatus. I have very fond memories of my original visit - but I've often questioned if that was just one of those nights that the stars aligned and the world seemed perfect. I now believe that to be the case. The pros: This place has such a unique setting that you can't find anywhere else. There is something so special about sitting in a screened in gazebo at a picnic table on a farm where your party can control the music playing. And, you can bring your own wine and beer. Let's face it - the mark up on wine/beer can be a substantial hit to your bill at any restaurant. When you can buy a whole bottle of wine for less than you pay for a glass sometimes, that's a selling point. The pot de crème dessert was nothing short of amazing - and this is coming from a girl who doesn't seek out chocolate for dessert. The cons: The prices on the food are just not worth what you get. My salad, which was some mixed greens with fresh snap peas and a very small amount of goat cheese was $12. I also got the chicken which came with a small assortment of grilled veggies on some polenta. This was $28. And my dessert, which as good as it was, cost $10. I don't think desserts should ever be more than $7 unless they are sizable and meant to be shared. It is a cash only establishment. The cost to eat here is quite high and people just don't carry that kind of cash anymore. In summary, while the atmosphere and experience are unique, the cost to enjoy it just doesn't seem worth it to me. If you are going to eat here and don't have any dietary restrictions, go the route of the chef's choice (the whole group has to do it though). I think this is the best way to get the most bang for your buck at The Well.

Yelp
Came here and was so underwhelmed, it is absolutely NOT worth the hype. There are so many better restaurants in the Portland area, don't waste your time here when you can have a much better experience at Twelve, Central Provisions or Street & Co. No idea how this place has the ratings it does, I think they're riding their reputation they once perhaps had. We made our reservation in February for a June dinner and had to prepay at $85/per person for sad food, lame service and tiny portions. We were seated indoors at the 'chefs table' which is just a shack with a screen, with a glaring kitchen light shining in our eyes the entire time they couldn't turn off. We had to turn ourselves away from the table to block the light the entire night. I get that it's rustic Maine, I'm a Mainer, but this was really bad in terms of ambiance. You can't see the kitchen and the chefs cooking, what is the point of the chefs table? Perhaps the gazebos would've been better but with how bad the food was and the underwhelming service I don't think that would've helped. We are huge foodies, grow our own food, very interested in how it's made and where it comes from, which is why we initially were so excited to go. My boyfriend is a professional chef and I've worked in restaurants in NYC for years. There wasn't even a menu! We get it was a pre fixe... but some kind of description would've been nice. Our server gave us no information or warm welcome to the farm, we had to ask where the food was from/what's in season, etc. She gave no info other than they cook what's in season (obviously). The portions were comically small. Undercooked pasta, 2 oz piece of halibut served with a single cauliflower floret and frozen peas. Peas! Duck with barbecue sauce. Barbecue sauce?! Paying $85 dollars for one of the most common sauces, and one I could've made at home. They also had cold hollandaise with asparagus as a starter/salad course, another sauce you can get anywhere. There was no creativity in the dishes whatsoever. The dessert were the doughnuts which was the only highlight. And the fact that we got a loaf of bread in the beginning which - thank god - we did as otherwise we would've left more hungry than we already did. Our cocktails were too sweet and it was quite difficult to choose a wine since there was no menu or mention of the courses served. I suppose that's how they force you to purchase the wine pairings since the patrons are left clueless. Lastly, it felt wrong that we had to prepay back in February for a very disappointing meal. Where is the incentive for the servers to do a nice job when you prepay? The auto gratuity on the meal was the kicker. Overall extremely disappointing, poor food and weak service.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! We were visiting from out of town and my boyfriends grandmother found this gem. It is an experience like no other. The service was outstanding and the food was phenomenal. I apologize for the quality of the photos, it was a little dark in the gazebo!

Yelp
I think The Well is doing something really special... and it's obvious that it's a beloved spot. Every time I've come it seems that there are large groups celebrating something, so if you're looking for a unique, intimate setting outside - and outside of Portland - to toast to whatever it is you might be toasting to, definitely consider coming here (but make a reservation in advance). There are private gazebos that seat up to ten people, and despite being near other gazebos full of people, you still very much feel like you alone are dining in the middle of a garden where your vegetables most definitely were living up until a few hours ago. It doesn't get any more farm to table than this! (Side note: you can also buy produce from their farmers' market, and enjoy your BYOB drinks by their open fire before/after your meal! Awesome on both accounts!) Unfortunately, one of the reasons why I've only been a couple of times is the food/price: while I *love* some of it... I'm disappointed by some of it. I've had the family style meal here before here, and as a vegetarian it felt like a waste of money - I ate some salad and some beans for $55. Eating off the menu is much easier with a dietary restriction, but even then I only liked half of what I got recently: the bread and butter (which is a complimentary part of the meal) is absolute perfection (I wish I could come here and just eat this with some cheese!), but the appetizer this time around was disappointing: a salad that was a handful of greens, three snap peas, and four crumbles of goat cheese. My main was the best at the table: smoked tofu on top of pappardelle with chard, olives, eggplant puree, and bread crumbs (if it, or something like it, is available - GET IT; not only is it the best portion for the price, it's also the most abundantly flavorful); but, my dessert - the "sunshine cake" was the least liked at the table (essentially an angel food cupcake topped with fresh berries and homemade whip - it pales in comparison to the silky, chocolatey pot de creme with shortbread cookies which is DEFINITELY what you should get). I do think this place is amazing - I just know, after a handful of meals here, that I'm personally not their demographic. But again if you a) love to eat hyperlocal and hyperseasonally, b) are looking for an experience unlike anything else in Greater Portland, c) are from out of town - you would be remiss not to check out The Well!

Yelp
The Well at Jordan's farm is such a treat! The mostly outdoor setting is very comfortable but offers refined dining service. The food is delicious and tastes so fresh. My partner and I visited for dinner last night on their third day of being re-opened since COVID19 hit. We opted for the chefs tasting and though it seems they're still figuring out how to beat pace the courses, the overall experience was good. My partner and I both agreed it would be helpful for those who purchase the tasting, to have servers explain the tasting when customers first sit down (this is the number of dishes we'll be serving, featuring x,y,z and starting with so and so dish. Otherwise, it would be nice to have a menu that provides an overview. It felt a little odd to have our serves randomly appearing with various dishes at various times.

Yelp
Where do I begin? My husband and I visited The Well for my 30th birthday and dinner was nothing short of incredible. As a pair, the only option is to sit in the main kitchen "building" either overlooking the chefs, or overlooking the garden. We chose the garden view. Since it's BYOB, we brought an incredible bottle of cabernet that we received as an engagement gift. It was kiiiind of unfortunate to drink it out of plastic cups, but I'm not one to really care about that kind of thing...mentioning it here as others may find this disappointing ;) The meal itself was outstanding. We went with the tasting menu, which basically consisted of everything they had on the menu. The homemade bread and butter to start was beyond. The prosciutto that was served next melted in my mouth. The fish was cooked to perfection. The chicken, though it looked only okay, tasted incredible...the crispy skin was out of bounds. The final dish which I believe was a beef short rib of sorts, was absolutely heavenly. We ended our meal with the homemade donut and the chocolate pot du creme. We actually asked to get both (since I think the default is the donut) and we thought they'd give us one of each..but they gave us each both desserts. There are NO complaints here!!! Both were incredible, but that donut is to-die-for. Service was impeccable and so so friendly. The chef came out at the end of the night and we chatted for a bit about the meal and the farm. Overall it was such a special night, we're already planning to spend my next birthday here! You are doing yourself a disservice if you live in the area and have not checked it out!!

Yelp
Visited The Well with a group of 8. We sat in one of the larger gazebos, which was screened in, had a gorgeous wood table with benches and had a speaker to play your own music. The place is BYOB, I was surprised to see groups rolling in with coolers and poppin' bottles (this was my first byob restaurant experience). The servers stop by an appropriate frequency to refill water, clear plates, etc. The group can do a family style meal or order items individually, we did individual because the family style isn't vegetarian friendly. The bread and butter was a highlight, as well as the pot de creme. I'd love to return and reserve a small gazebo for an intimate dinner.

Yelp
The Well at Jordan's Farm is a cute restaurant located on a working farm in Cape Elizabeth. It would be an ideal spot for a romantic date night or for families. With outdoor tables (wear bug spray), seating near the fire or in screened gazebos, it's sure to please almost anyone. Our party of 12 basically had our own world in the gazebo. Since The Well is BYOB (why aren't all restaurants???) we brought 12 bottles of wine and drank 10. By the end of dinner it was apparent that the gazebos are perfect for large, loud parties. While you can order a la carte, we opted for the family style dinner (normally $45 each) which includes ample portions of roasted chicken, sausage, a whole hake, potatoes, beans, veggies, bread, salad and a hot homemade donut for dessert. The only mild disappointment was the fish, which still included some bones and was less flavorful. Everything else was delicious and my food coma still lingers. It's a cash only business and you leave your money in a "treasure chest" near the kitchen. It's charming to see somewhat of an honor system still in play. I'm excited to return later in the season to see what fresh new offerings the farm has in store!

Yelp
We were a party of four celebrating our daughter's birthday last week and had the chef's tasting menu on the porch. It was very chilly and I asked if they could lower the flaps on the screens because we were cold and it took them over half an hour to do that. We also asked if they could adjust the glaring spotlight from the kitchen since it was shining directly into half of our party's eyes and they said they couldn't do that because the kitchen needed it set that way. We suggested installing a shade! We ordered drinks and before they came out our first course was served. Proportions are tiny...we weren't overly impressed given all the reviews we've read and we all thought the best course was dessert. At $85/person we would have expected a bit more food and there really wasn't anything special about the preparation of any of the courses and our pasta was underdone. We've had better meals at some of our other favorite places in Portland and lastly, a server can always make or break a meal and our's certainly didn't add any extra points. She wasn't overly friendly and didn't seem very happy to be there or promote the farm.

Yelp
I first came to The Well two years ago on an East coast trip. I had such a great experience that my s/o and I detoured to Cape Elizabeth to enjoy another meal. This time however wasn't as enjoyable in terms of food and service but definitely still worth trying. The experience is based on a farm-to-table meal where the menu changes daily. The restaurant mainly has outdoor picnic table seatings with gazebos for private groups. As we were a party of two we sat inside the main building where the kitchen was overlooking the garden. The ambience alone is worth coming where it's BYOB, the environment is laid back where you can spend time pre and after dinner by a fire pit. Food 3.5/5 We decided to get the tasting menu which includes 5 courses that includes items from that day's menu. We started with a peeky toe crab with heirloom tomatoes and arugula. The tomatos were fresh, sweet and didn't require any type of seasoning or salt to highlight the flavour. The amount of crab was more than I expected and was a great balance to the dish. There was a pesto type sauce on the side which in my opinion wasn't necessary. Second course featured greens with smoked Gouda, potatoes tossed in a vinaigrette. Each element was either too bland or salty on their own but when eaten together was the perfect balance. Third course was steamed mussels with pork sausage in a white wine broth. Although the mussels were on the smaller side, the meat was sweet, succulent and juicy. There were only a few pieces of sausage but I didn't care much for it. The sausages didn't have too much flavour nor did it contribute to the dish and felt like an afterthought. The broth had a very strong taste of wine and was on the saltier side. I ate a majority of the mussels without the broth and was quite content. The fourth course was grilled tenderloin, corn, corn purée with smashed potatoes. This was by far my favourite dish as the steak was cooked under medium rare. The corn was sweet and added a lot of flavour to the dish. For dessert we got the beignet doughnut and pot de creme. The beignet was served warm with a generous sprinkle of sugar on top. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and wasn't overly sweet. The pot de creme was equally delicious and perfect for any chocolate lovers. I love that they complimented each other and was a great way to end the night. Service 3/5 To be honest our server seemed a little awkward. She would spend a lot of time standing over our shoulder and wait for us to acknowledge her before speaking. The service wasn't terrible but didn't exceed my expectations either. All in all I still enjoyed my meal and had a good time at The Well. It's a dining experience I've never had anywhere else and don't think I can find for a long time.

Yelp
Great all around experience. Fun to watch the kitchen and the food was not fussy but put together and so good. There will be a command performance with guests. Although I really liked sitting so that I could watch the chef work and that isn't possible with more than a party of two. My husband wants to go back just for the kitchen playlist.

Loved everything about it. Beautiful location, friendly people with a peaceful vibe. Most of all the food!

Yelp
An incredible meal. We made reservations to sit at the 4-seat counter and got a front-row view of the kitchen! Ordered the 5-course tasting menu ($65/pp) and it was perfect. Everything chef Jason Williams cooked up tasted fresh and fantastic. Can't wait to come back again. PS. It's still cash-only but customers no longer pay by way of the treasure chest.

Yelp
We visited the Well at Jordan's Farm on a trip to southern Maine. What an absolute treat! Even after restaurants started opening post Covid, I have rarely felt that restaurants lived up to theirpre-Covid quality. I have never been to the Well pre-Covid, I can honestly say that this is the best restaurant meal I have had since prior to the shut downs. We had the five course tasting menu. It was superb. The delicious homemade bread was served alongside a lovely chicken pate on a crostini. Second course was a sublime scallop with shaved fennel topped with housemaid bacon. Third course was a light risotto with mushrooms and bacon. The main course with chicken confit served over Farro with summer squash (very tender and tasty). The final course was this amazing homemade brioche doughnut coated in sugar with a blueberry sauce and fresh cream. All of this was served in a little farmhouse overlooking their own garden. Such a lovely, special night.

Yelp
2018 We just returned to The Well for the first time this season. We made reservations to have a big family dinner there for my daughter's 6th birthday. We had 11 people in our party, including 6 kids ages 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9. When we arrived, the staff were visibly annoyed. Our table was not ready, and when we were seated there wasn't enough silverware. We had to request more silverware when the food arrived. The food was ok. It really wasn't anything special. My husband had his pork cooked to the chef's recommendation of medium, which is very much over cooked for pork. The kids plates, we were told, came with peas and carrots, but they didn't. The jugs of water on the table were left empty throughout the meal. They did put a candle in my daughter's dessert, which was nice. We did have another reservation for a meal next week, we cancelled it. So disappointed that this place has changed so much from last season. 2017 Truly a dining experience! Service was exceptional and food was perfect. My 2 young kids even cleaned their plates which never happe. BYOB which is great for us since we're wine collectors. If you're a foodie, this is the place for you! Just had our second meal at The Well in a week and food was perfect. Becka, our waitress, is outstanding. The beignets are amazing. Don't go here without getting one order.

Yelp
Our family style dinner the other night at The Well at Jordan's Farm was picturesque, full of laughs, and delicious food shared by all. The adorable gazebos that you can reserve give you the feel of being secluded but still out in the open. They have adorable hanging candles as well that hang about the tables (see photos). If it's just two of you, you can also sit at the picnic tables and enjoy the fire pit! Also remember folks it's CASH ONLY! We had a multiple course family style meal and the staff was very gracious and willing to answer any questions. Honestly the roasted vegetables were my favorite - the mushrooms cooked to a perfect consistency and the yellow carrots just melted in my mouth. Out of the meats (hake, sausage and chicken) the roasted chicken with house made BBQ sauce was my favorite. The skin was just crispy enough and the chicken tender (not too dry which happens too often at places). Atmosphere at this place is definitely a 10/10. Food is an 8/10 BUT I would definitely come back just to bask in that atmosphere and try more dishes off their menu. The desert itself is something I would bike out there for - house made donut with cinnamon sugar + homemade creme and fresh strawberries. Definitely kid (and dog!) friendly - bring the family! I'd say it would be great for family gatherings (8-10 people max) especially.

Yelp
There's something to be said to dine in a gazebo surrounded by loved ones. Everything was perfect. The waitstaff was exceptional. The food. The food was glorious. The food just kept on coming and coming. The table was filled. The hardest part was deciding what to eat next even though our belly's were full. My mother kept on kvelling about the mashed potatoes. The paella was a huge hit and an amazing presentation. I personally loved the salad which felt like it was picked an hour before consumed. With every dining experience I always have room for another slice of bread but tonight I could add the pressed pork to that list. I kept on saying oh I'll just have another little piece. After our beignets we went over the bridge to get warm by the fire pit and had a few more laughs along with dance performances before heading home feeling totally satisfied with this magical night.

Yelp
One of the best places we've had dinner at in our 7 years dating! Absolutely beautiful location and even better food. We drove up from Boston and it was worth the drive. I would recommend to anyone. It is cash only and you can bring your own wine. We drove down to the lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, a short drive away, making the night really romantic. For dessert, we ordered both and are glad we did!

Yelp
We visited "The Well" during a birthday trip for my mother's 60th birthday. I tried to make reservations for my party of 4 adults and 2 children but was told reservations are only for parties of 6 adults or more- however if I arrived before 5:30- there usually wasn't a wait. Of course- it took us longer than expected and we arrived just before 6- and there was a short wait. If you have never been here before it can be a little confusing... Do you just seat yourself? (no, you need to go to the counter first to see if anyone is waiting before you) Which door do you go into? (fyi it's the left door) There were people coming from all different directions. The couple that drove in after us, actually went in the other door- and thus they ended up at the counter first. At the counter is where you do two things. 1) you put your name for a table in. 2) After they call you for a table and you get seated- you then go back to the counter in the little building and then place your order for your entire party and pay. You will need to order your whole meal at once. Appetizer/Salad/Entree and Dessert. It's just much easier this way. Back to our picnic table. We got settled in- some of us went to sit by the campfire they had going, others stayed and enjoyed the BYOB. They brought bread and yummy butter in a bag to start, and then salads quickly followed. My salad was DELICIOUS! And the bacon on it was thick and salty/smoky. When it came time for dinner to be served. One of the chicken entrees we ordered was missing. It happened to be my mother's- we were told it was 'coming right out'. But it didn't. Then we were told they would give us a free donut (the nights dessert)... and we waited. Everyone had finished their meals before the remaining chicken dish arrived. The meals were AMAZING, perfect portions, deliciously prepared, fresh veggies. Then it was time for dessert. Guess what? They forgot our extra donut. This is why maybe paying ahead of time isn't the best idea. I feel there was very little done to resolve the situation. It was kind of embarrassing since this was a SPECIAL dinner for my mother. However, the dessert was absolutely delicious. The donut was perfectly cooked and the strawberry compote it was served with was sweet. I could have eaten like 5 of these. Overall, we were happy. The food was great, the setting was wonderful. We will definitely come back. Next time I will come early- or bring a larger party and reserve one of their screened in gazebos. It is definitely a place to check out, and hopefully my tips won't help you feel so confused like we did!

Yelp
This was the cornerstone of our honeymoon when it comes to food. I planned the trip here before most details were thought of for the trip. The concept of a high-end, farm-to-table restaurant intrigued me. I can't say enough good things about the experience. Even the fact that they allow your to BYOB allows you to get a great wine or beer with dinner and not have to pay an insane markup on it. Keep in mind that this is typically a cash only place, so be prepared. You *may* be able to use a card, but it is a remote location and internet isn't always around. We were seated next to the kitchen and were able to meet the staff. This allowed us to have a view of the farm and get to know the great people making our food. Some of our dishes were even hand delivered from the kitchen. One of the kitchen staff had even seen me earlier in the day and remembered my Weird Al shirt because it was written in Chinese. After reading over the menu and snacking on the bread, we couldn't decide on what we wanted. As you should expect, the menu changes regularly. The options that day all sounded amazing. We decided that we wanted to do the five course, chef inspired tasting menu. I didn't have enough cash to get this and am very thankful that they were able to help out with using a card. Again, DO NOT count on this. Every dish was amazing. Even with my extensive time in kitchens, I learned a lot about cooking. I am not going to detail the food. With the menu being seasonal and ever changing, just expect that they will have some spectacular options. There was not a single bite that was not great. My wife and I are still blown away. We regularly eat at high-end restaurants and this has surpassed everything before. I can't even write about this without getting hungry. Do yourself the kindness of planning ahead and getting a table here.

Yelp
One of the best meals we've ever had, anywhere! Over the past 3 years we have dined at The Well monthly during its short summer season. Last night's meal was one of the "great" meals...perhaps the best we've ever had, anywhere. For appetizers we had the pork & ricotta meatballs (awesome flavor) and the mixed green salad (very fresh, served with snap peas...really really good). I had the lamb with oyster mushrooms & risotto, while my wife had the cod with mashed potatoes, carrots & peas. So good that we split our plates 50/50 with one another to maximize the experience. And let's not forget the hot donut served with fresh strawberries! Loved sitting at the chef's counter watching them prep the meals. The gazebos are fun too. As is the atmosphere of dining on site at Jordan's Farm. Service is top shelf, but you'll need to make a reservation well in advance! We'd recommend The Well to anyone as a "must visit" in the Portland area.

Yelp
I had high hopes and mixed feelings. I love the concept of this place and was excited to try it. We expected to be facing a kitchen and watching the Chef at a "Chef's Table" dinner, but that wasn't the case - that was disappointing. Also, I reached out way ahead of time when reserving a table to mention my fairly numerous dietary restriction (gluten, dairy, soy. and nightshades) ahead of time and was told it wouldn't be a problem, so I was excited. Overall, I think the chef did a nice job of pivoting to accommodate my restrictions but I felt like I was eating and experiencing way less than neighboring guests - the advance notice didn't seem to matter at all - he was adjusting on the fly instead of having planned out or prepped anything different in advance. At this price point, I guess I had expected more of that? Having some more interesting substantial gluten free substitutions to offer would be great. I couldn't enjoy the fresh bread basket and no substitution was offered. The salad/pole bean starter was tasty. The little dish of cauliflower "risotto" swapped for others' pasta course was ok, but very light - a gf pasta cooked in a separate little pot of water would have been much appreciated. The monkfish with corn and bacon was delicious - my favorite. Now I'm not a meat eater and I certainly wasn't going to mention that because I already have so many dietary restrictions for chefs to contend with, but the smell and texture of the beef course actually turned my stomach - tough and raw and gamey smelling, and my husband, who IS a meat eater, found his to be the same. Others had homemade delicious looking donuts for dessert - I had a delicious thimble full of berries with chocolate. (Get a few great gf desserts and put them in your freezer to offer a guest like me?!) I paid for the wine pairing which was tasty and helped take the edge off of feeling otherwise kind of hungry and like I had paid a lot of $$ to leave that way.... I'm a serious home chef who adapts recipes all the time to omit dairy, gluten, etc. I serve meals to groups in my home who have no idea they're eating a gluten free dish or a dairy free dish - I wish that expert chefs would broaden their repertoires of ingredients that work for everyone so they don't just do a tiny mini version of a regular dish missing half its ingredients!

Yelp
So good! Everything is fresh. I'm not a fan of fish, but the cod was cooked perfectly. It was moist and buttery and light. I have no complaints or corrections to any dish I get. I have had the salads, meatballs, chicken, cod, and the chocolate and donut desserts. Everything is perfectly executed. Everything is at the peak of freshness. The bread is soft, light, and airy...I just wish there was more!

Yelp
Wow!!!! We decided to try a spur-of-the-moment walk in and got two seats at the flower garden counter. This was our first experience at The Well and it exceeded all of our expectations at every level! What a unique setting, wonderful service, great wine list and of course the freshest food you will find anywhere.Kudos to the chef and all of the team. We have made our reservations for September and October!

Yelp
Amazing food, atmosphere, and staff!!! It is truly a dining experience. The courses keep rolling in, one as good, if not better, than the last. And the homemade donuts.....OH MY!

Yelp
This was a real disappointment! Started off by telling us they didn't have a decanter for our wine - not even an extra water pitcher we could use. And only 4 wine glasses so too bad that we brought white & red wines. Had to reuse them! Brought ciabatta in a brown bag to the table - no bread or side plates. The waiter convinced us to try the 5 course family style dinner and assured us the chef always made something special for that! Wrong! We were served 2 different salads, cod and overdone & dry pork loin. All were listed on the regular menu and none of which were that good. The dessert was strawberries and cream - ok but nothing special. While sitting in the gazebo was nice, it wasn't worth the hype! Go to Scales in Portland instead!!!!

Yelp
Didn't have a great experience. For $65 to leave hungry is annoying. Our waiter was clueless and we waited over 30 min between courses. The hostess asked if we were done as the the next party was waiting, and we'd only had 3 courses.

Yelp
I have to say that a lot of my amazing/best ever/awesomeness experience stems from the fact that I went with some of my favorite people and we drank roughly 23984705872 bottles of wine. That being said, my experience at the Well at Jordan's Farm would have been fantastic regardless of who came along for the food adventure. First of all, who could not love the atmosphere? Because we were in a big group and had prior reservations (side note: you can only make reservations for a larger group), we sat in a huge gazebo. It even had bluetooth for you to play your own music!!! The gardens were beautiful and there was even a fire pit. I am not normally a big nature girl, but the environment was cozy and comfortable and very peaceful. OMG the food! I loved the bread in bags to start, the delicious meats (chicken, sausage, and a whole fish), and the amazing roasted potatoes. My favorite dish by far was the amazing carrot/other vegetable blend. YUM. A few quick notes: -may be dog friendly (there was definitely an ADORABLE dog wandering around that did not belong to the owners) -cash only -bring a sweater as it may get chilly -its BYOB, which I love because it allows you to drink as much or as little (or none) as you want I will definitely be back!!!!

Yelp
Someone already said it... Where do I begin!?! What an amazing place, meal and people. We were attended to by Kristin, who from the get-go -- get-go meaning the moment I called trying to make a reservation to the moment we left the restaurant, was just amazing!!!! And that's an understatement!!!! She and the entire staff at the Farm were terrific and accommodating in every way... I was even lucky enough to get a gazebo, which is amazing in and of itself. Not just the service, but the food was awesome to say the least. Definitely go for the Chef's tasting special... You won't believe just how great this 5 course meal is. Even sitting around a fire before our table or gazebo was ready, was great... We did so with other patrons and it was just a blast getting to know new folks. This is a tough place to get a reservation but well worth it if you make your way to Portland Maine or Cape Elizabeth. Again, a great big thumbs up to The Well at Jordan's Farm and Kristin who brings great energy to the place and people whose lives she touches. Awesome!!!! Nelson

Yelp
A really superb, special experience, especially the counter seats facing the kitchen. Dishes all creative, delicious and festive - a celebration of flavor! The donut dessert with wild Maine blueberries and a fluffy could dollop of whipped cream is heaven on a plate!

Yelp
My first visit here was just lovely! I joined a large group of about 20 in the greenhouse, which was so fun! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The food appeared at appropriate intervals, creating a seamless service, which allowed everyone at the gathering to focus on enjoying the company. I loved the chicken!! Dessert turned out to be delicious donuts (without the hole) and the best chocolate mousse I've ever had. Dinner was $55 (not including tip). I would recommend this unique experience if you can swing it.

Yelp
The Well at Jordan's Farm was my first farm to table experience, and I can't stop praising the restaurant. What an amazing experience! The atmosphere alone deserves five stars. Since we had a small party, we did not get to dine in the private gazebo but sat by the stools facing the "open" kitchen. There are two options on the menu; family style or a la carte. The food was very well done; we ordered the chicken and fish. Though, my personal favorite is the warm bread served at the beginning of the meal. It was so delicious that we had two refills! The honor system where you place cash in the chest adds an unique touch too. So does the pick your own flowers/bouquet adjacent to the restaurant. Not to mention, BYOB! Can't wait to be back with a larger gang and try out the private gazebos!

Yelp
You can't get any closer to where your food comes from than at The Well. Located on Jordan Farm the chef creates always changing menus based on what's being harvested. The atmosphere is lovely - done in an intimate "shack" with the chefs or select a screened in gazebo. There are open air picnic tables too, but be warned the biting insects are often a nuisance. The food is delicious albeit a bit plain. It's honest good food. Well prepared and of course fresh. While nothing was disappointing I didn't give 5 stars because my meal wasn't outstanding or particularly memorable. The setting took the show.

Yelp
Beautiful picturesque setting, fresh wonderfully prepared farm to table food...add loving family and byob wine and you have an amazing evening in Cape Elizabeth. We reserved one of the screened gazebos, round table, sipped wine and sampled freshly made warm bread. The menu is small but done extremely well. We started by sharing lamb meatballs. I had the grilled BBQ chicken, wonderful purple potatoes. Others had the halibut ( which looked amazing) perfectly cooked. While the pork loin looked equally amazing. It may be a little pricey, cost wise compared to some high end restaurants in Portland but the money is so much more well spent here. The food fresher, the location beautiful...an amazing place. Next time we take a chance against the bugs and check out the fire pit with seating, or if lucky enough get two of the seats inside the little kitchen hut bar overseeing the great chefs at work.

Yelp
This dining experience was easily the best of the year for us. The food was gourmet simplicity. The surroundings are as unique as they are beautiful and the staff seems to well understand the special energy of the place. Sitting among the wildflowers and vegetable gardens of Jordan Farm in the setting sun is enjoyable enough as it is, add the delicious breads, appetizers and entrees to the postcard picture and it becomes legendary. I ordered a poached lobster starter, which was served perfectly over fresh off the vine tomato and Chicken Confit served over mashed potatoes. Everything was spectacularly fresh and vibrant. Do not be timid to go the distance with this menu- Salads, Breads, Starters, Entrees and Dessert, there wasn't a weakness amongst them. (Don't forget to bring the wine) This place is special, a real charmer!

Yelp
Wow. Just wow. This is the coolest farm to table (to farm) restaurant you can imagine. More a series of gazebos than actual restaurant, the concept is incredibly neat and the cuisine literally "fresh off the farm." I highly recommend the tasting menu, very reasonably priced, and it allows you to taste a bunch of menu dishes with smaller portions. The setting is spectacular, although we went on a rainy day. Overall, this is a top notch dining experience you must try!

Yelp
Unfortunately I did not even get to try the food at The Well. After having this restaurant recommended to me by a friend and booking months in advance, my partner and I left very unhappy and hungry. We scheduled an entire vacation around this reservation and had been looking forward to it for months. We booked a hotel room specifically for this dinner. We drove hours to eat here and I specifically booked a reservation with the option that overlooked the flower field only and not the option "close to all the action" of the kitchen as it vaguely states on their website. As a small scale, organic, florist/flower farmer managing a small operation by myself, I was excited to eat good farm fresh food while overlooking a late August flower field. We arrived on time for our reservation and were surprised to find ourselves seated in front of and overlooking the kitchen sink and the kitchen fan. Every other guest was seated at the counter overlooking the flower field. There was another party seated directly behind us. When I say our elbows were almost touching I am not exaggerating. There were less than two feet between us and the people behind us. They had about a foot in between them and the party next to them and then there was a 6-7 foot gap in between those people and the next party. When we asked if we could move to be seated with the same view as the other guests, we were told that was not possible due to COVID restrictions and spacing. I went on to point out the existing spacing and how it was unfair that we were paying the same amount of money for a totally different experience. While our waiter sympathized with us , he told us there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to someone else and he went to "escalate the situation". He came back and told us we could either come back in two hours, come another night, or be refunded. I was shocked by the fact that we were treated this way after reserving a $300 dinner and that the management did not even come out to address our concerns. It seemed so unreasonable given the current extremely close spacing of the guests in the restaurant and the large gap in between two the groups to use COVID policies as reasoning. The blatant inequality and lack of respect we felt from this restaurant was a real disappointing end to our trip. The difference between how we were treated and how the guests around us were treated was a real shock. I have never experienced such blatant inequity. We ended up taking a refund because the management of our reservation left such a bad taste in ours mouths. If you have loads of extra money and don't mind spending it on lackluster experiences, why not try it. But if you value your money and your time, this is definitely not worth the risk. I don't know who's managing this restaurant (because they did not care enough to come out and talk to me) but they need to take a closer look at customer service and experience and ensure guests are held in higher regard in the future.

Yelp
I LOVE The Well!!! Such a quaint, beautiful, and warm dinner experience. I've become a regular at the farm stand, and have been back twice for dinner. Both times we went for the chefs tasting menu- definitely recommended! Each course that comes out is better than the last, and they're all amazing. Super fresh and healthy- the true farm to table experience. The cabanas are such an experience- I love the rustic charm, the privacy, the view of the wild flowers, and the blue tooth speaker to play the music that we want to hear. Great for a date night or your whole family. Also love that it's BYOB- they'll give you a wine chilling carafe and opener. Make a reservation early in the summer if you want a chance to eat here!

Yelp
Literally the best meal of my life at this restaurant, and I've eaten at some pretty swell places. First, the bread is out of this world; butter was incredibly fresh, and salted, which I love. We split the greens and pole beans which were perfectly seasoned. I had the sausage and risotto and pureed corn, again a perfect blend of seasoning and textures. We split the doughnut which I think is really a beignet, which was rich but light. We definitely felt the quantity of food was fine for two of us. The setting was charmingly rustic. My one complaint is the beverage markup seemed a little high given the obviously low overhead involved in the location (a shed in the middle of a working farm). $10 for a bottle of Acqua Panna and $15 for a glass of Slingshot seemed a little high. But overall, a memorable and delicious meal.

Yelp
Out of this world dinner. The setting is unparalleled or looking gorgeous gardens and blooming flowers in the cozy flower bar. The service was superb with the chef bringing out every course and introducing each. The food is phenomenal atmosphere unlike anything else found it Maine.

Yelp
So delicious and the food was phenomenal. It was moderately expensive (~$30 entree) and it was worth every penny. I went with two vegetarians and they both had multiple options to choose from. There are gazebos to sit in, but we sat at a picnic table in a tent and it was a great environment. I would travel many miles to come back here.

Yelp
A unique experience and well worth tracking it down. Portland has an abundance of fine food places but when you want to break out with a group of friends, this is the place to go. Good food and wonderful service. We were in the 'greenhouse' which was really pretty big. Forget about the noise around plastic cups. Bring your own wine choices and utensils and have a fine time.

Yelp
Outdoor dining in summer Maine, rustic farm, locally owned and sourced = look no farther than here! Food is great but atmosphere is even better! Book the gazebo and get yourself to the outdoor fire pit, enjoy byob style beverages and soak in the scenery. Service is phenomenal! They even have a food coop so u can pay a fee and get a portion of their veggies every week! Cash only place so ATM before u come! Absolute hidden gem!

Yelp
The atmosphere was magical and the food unforgettably delicious. What a special place to enjoy amazing, fresh, and local food. The bread was to die for with a warm and soft inside and crusty outside. The doughnut was the best I've ever had. They don't sell alcohol and we enjoyed bringing our own wine (with no corkage fee)

Yelp
One of the best dinner and experiences you will have in Maine. I have been to many restaurants in my life. But nothing with this concept. You can sit out in private gazebos on the farm or at the 4 seat bar at the chefs counter. We sat at the counter. Food was excellent. Amazing to watch them crank out high quality food in such a small kitchen. The service was excellent from Kate at the front to all the wait staff. I will be back for sure. Thanks Jordan's farm!!!

Yelp
HIGHLY disappointing! We came here for a large party in the "greenhouse" last week and left underwhelmed. First, the greenhouse isn't what we expected at all. There are no plants and no cute decor. It's a huge concrete slab covered by a white tent with a few picnic tables. Second, the food was less than good. The meat was really smokey and dry, the veggies were just ok, and the fish was dry. Third, all the reviews I read said this place is BYOB, but that's not true. I guess they finally got their beer and wine license. No liquor. We brought a bunch of bottles of wine and ended up not being able to drink any of them. Annoying. Fourth, this place is way overpriced. We did a "family style" dinner for our group, which was supposed to be $75 per person, but with gratuity and wine, it came to $125 per person. I don't mind paying that for amazing meal, but the food just wasn't that good. The only reason why I'm giving this place two stars, instead of one, is because the service was good. The female servers who took care of us were all very attentive and sweet.
