The Well Has Opened a Country Retreat at Litchfield’s Mayflower Inn | Vogue

"Set amid serene surroundings that overlook The Mayflower’s placid pond and rolling hiking hills—an atmosphere that quiets the mind with the visuals alone—this retreat takes full advantage of its setting. Weather permitting, many treatments take place outdoors: you can have a Forest Craniosacral treatment under a trio of autumnal trees, or a Midnight Gong Bath on the expansive lawn. Inside, the relaxation room invites you to curl up and read a book off one of its many shelves or enjoy a glass of bone broth." - Elise Taylor

A Review of the Mayflower Inn, Connecticut | Hotels Above Par

"At the heart of the amenities is a 20,000-square-foot spa that serves as the crown jewel and regularly attracts repeat guests; you can spend all day indulging in treatments, working out in the decked-to-the-nines gym, taking a yoga class, or cozying up on a lounger with a blanket and book in the airy relaxation lounge. The space also features a pool and an outdoor yoga and meditation garden, and I nearly spent the whole day there — it's worth the trip alone." - Shivani Vora

Amenities fit for a King and Queen. Luxury extraordinaire in a glorious rural setting. The friendly and knowledgeable staff, the cuisine, spa options and the “little things” that show attention given to the guest experience. My several days in splendid solice. When I passed Candice Bergen at breakfast, that was the proverbial cherry on top. To all at Connecticut’s Mayflower - Thank you. 👑

The spa canceled appointments I made three months ago (for myself and my mother who will be visiting from out of town) because they recently decided to rent the entire spa out for a private event. You can’t get worse customer service than having your appointments canceled two weeks out so the spa can make more money on a private group. It is certainly not what I would expect from a five star establishment. I can’t imagine ever making an appointment here again knowing it could be canceled on a whim. I have been a guest at the spa multiple times, but I won’t be back.

We had a wonderful time on our recent trip - especially loved the outdoor sauna. Such a relaxing spa and great gift shop. Highly recommend!!

The review is for The Well at Mayflower inn, not the hotel itself. I only gave it 2 stars because the spa itself has great atmosphere and is very aesthetic. But otherwise I had an extremely disappointed experience: I had the worst massage in my life. 1. First of all, the spa seemed really under-staff. I was there at 12:30 pm and all the lockers were either used or missing a robe. I had to check every single locker and finally went to front desk and asked for a robe. Also, a male attendant brought towels into the female locker room, where the guests were changing and showing. Excuse me? 2. My husband and I had a couple’s massage. My therapist either did not cut her nails or had very hard nail polish on. She literally left multiple fingernail trail marks on my back. After hours of my massage, I can still find trials of red marks on my back and the skin was still irritated and inflamed around it. After telling my therapist twice that she was hurting me, she put a dry towel (not soft sheet, but dry hand towel) on my back to create a barrier and continued the service. The towel was coarse…also what’s the point of applying essential oil if she were just going to rub it off with the towel anyways? At least the towel stopped her from hurting me, but it wasn’t a relaxing experience at all. I would have just quit the service, but my husband was getting his service next to me. His massage was okay according to him. 3. The hot tub/pool area wasn’t well maintained. We visited the area on our first day after we check in (around 4 pm). The towel rack was empty and I couldn’t find any staff to replenish. Used towels on lounge chairs next to the pool were not removed. There was hair everywhere on the floor at the sauna/steamed room area. The place is very aesthetic as shown on the website, but the experience was mediocre at best. It’s very unfortunate because I do enjoy my room and meal at the Mayflower inn, but the spa/massage experience kind of ruin our weekend gateway.

Absolutely loved my treatment with Lindsey!!!! She was so sweet, so smart and informative and gave me the best lymphatic massage and reflexology EVER. By far the best treatment I’ve ever had at any spa. Highly recommend booking with her!!!

Incredible spa. Booked a full day reconnect which involved about 5 hours of treatment. Left feeling totally pampered.
