10 Best Hotel Saunas Around the World Worthy of Your Next Sweat Session | Condé Nast Traveler

"This adults-only water-focused spa in Norway is designed for people who want to luxuriate in every version of H2O: saunas, steam rooms, plunge pools and meditation rooms are central, and the largely “Adam and Eve attire” approach encourages a natural, uninhibited relaxation that eases joint and muscle pain or simply helps you unwind. It’s a popular day-trip and weekend destination for Oslo residents looking for uncomplicated healing through water rituals." - Charley Ward

Fantastic way to spend time in Oslo! Everything is very clean and the style of the facility is very calming. The layout, check-in and amentities at the spa are wonderful. If you don't have a car, check the bus lines as you can be dropped about 300m from the entrance to the spa. I'd highly recommend for any visitors to Olso. A great opportunity to spend time quietly to unwind. There are several sauna options, and plenty of space in the large pool. Be advised, there are swimsuit only hours, but otherwise you may be relaxing alongside some sans swimsuit if you are one to prioritize modesty double check the schedule.

We had the pleasure of staying at this spa for a night during our Oslo trip, and I was extremely impressed from start to finish. Firstly, the spa facilities are plentiful, clean, and genuinely relaxing. I particularly enjoyed the jungle sauna and outdoor heated pool. We also had a massage treatment, which was very professional and attentive. I would recommend reading the spa guidance on etiquette/swimwear before booking, in case the local spa/sauna traditions (nudity or use of a towel in steam and sauna) come as a shock, but honestly it's barely noticeable after time. The food was also top-class. The brasserie menu was varied and fairly vegetarian/vegan friendly, and everything we ordered was really tasty. The breakfast buffet was better than many standard hotel offerings, with good catering again towards dietary requirements. The bar mixologists also produced tasty and creative cocktails. Finally, the rooms were in immaculate condition, and ours came with an amazing view of the surrounding forest. Beds were comfy, bathrooms well-stocked, and the hotel so peaceful. Left feeling relaxed and wishing I had booked a second night. The digital detox recommended by the hotel was really worth leaning into, it did feel like an escape from the real world.

Genuinely think this is the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Every single aspect of it was absolutely perfect, and we’re already looking at our next visit. The staff were brilliant, and they went above and beyond to make our trip special (thanks for the free drink!). Given the price, staying at The Well and visiting the spa is unbelievable value. The facility is huge and in really good condition, and the free sauna classes aren’t to be missed. Really can’t speak highly enough, thank you!!!

Just came back from my first visit to the well spa, booked the spa day pass. It was a great experience. Going on Saturdays is a mix of people wearing swimwear and not. But it shouldn’t distract you. Amazing facilities, with great customer service. I also got a massage which was great. Thanks, I hope to be back again in the future

I booked a one-day spa stay with massages for myself and my friends. To be honest, I was quite disappointed. The place looks much bigger online and the website mentions many attractions, but in reality, there’s only a small pool, a jacuzzi, and lots of unnecessary showers. There are many saunas, but the water jets—which are supposed to be one of the main attractions—are few, and some of them weren’t even working. The outdoor pools were very dirty. The sauna rituals were also disappointing. They squeeze a crowd of people into a small room. If these rituals are so popular, there really should be a sign-up system. It’s impossible to relax or enjoy the experience in such conditions. My massage, called “The Well Balanced 80 min,” was the worst massage I’ve ever had—especially for such an outrageous price. The room smelled musty, the massage itself was careless and rushed, skipping many parts of the body, including my feet and hands. It started 10 minutes late and ended 10 minutes early. They claim to be the largest spa in Scandinavia, but perhaps only in terms of unused space. My disappointment is probably the biggest in Scandinavia too. I definitely won’t be coming back.

The Well is a beautiful place, setting in a quiet forest south of Oslo. It's very easily accessible via public transportation. The pools, saunas & spas are bright, clean and relaxing. The staff of the spa, snack bar & reception wonderful. Do make plans to have a meal at the Brassiere restaurant. It's upstairs from the spa/pool area and you can dine in your robe! Evening pass is discounted and starts at 5pm to closing. A great escape from the city while visiting!

Coming by bus for the first time, it was easy and well deserved. The spa is amazing as always and the rituals are so nice. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. The brasserie serve delicious food in a cozy restaurant. The bedroom are spacious, well decorated and the bed 🤩, perfect place to sleep like a baby. Breakfast, there again 100% amazing between the quality of the food, the choices and the welcoming staff. Always a pleasure to have a break at The Well. 🥰

I visited Oslo for a long weekend and had been recommended The Well by other tourists. I visited The Well spa as a day guest on my last day in Oslo (30min by train from Oslo central station) and it was the highlight of my trip so am planning to return as a hotel guest. The woodland setting was stunning with the autumn foliage, the facilities are first class and the staff were all super helpful and friendly. I went on a Sunday in September, and it was pretty busy (I estimate around 150+ guests), but with so many saunas, steam rooms, pools and showers to choose from it was not an issue. The only issue was remembering which robe, towel and slippers are yours, but apart from that, the whole naturist spa experience and the sauna rituals were truly sensational. I cannot wait to visit again!

Yelp
The Well is by far the best spa experience I have ever had. We ended up spending about 5 hours there. Multiple sauna rooms. I did 2 sauna rituals, that were really amazing. The first one was performed by a Russian girl and the second one by a Finnish lady. The music was very upbeat and they both did sort of a dance with a towel. I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone that visits Oslo. Definitely the highlight of my trip. I also had a juice that hit the spot. Carrots and ginger.

Yelp
I have been to heaven, it's called The Well! During my 60+ years on this planet, my wife and I have visited numerous spas throughout the US and Europe, receiving hundreds of spa treatments. This spa trumps them all! It's a very special place. No spa or wellness clinic world wide can compare to the sophistication, beauty, professionalism and expertise by the staff and the entire resort. The Well has set the bar so high, I am uncertain it can be topped by any other spa or resort. It's super clean, beautiful and the spa treatments, sauna's, steam baths and hot tubs make you feel like you are experiencing either an out of body experience or in a dream. We spent two weeks traveling from the north cape, all along the coast of Norway, and our visit to The Well was our best experience and made our trip worthwhile. We had two full days of sightseeing in Oslo and choose to trash those plans and spend the entire time at The Well. Our room was clean and queen size bed was very comfortable. Shower was better than any hotel we visited along our two week trip. We dined at the Brasserie restaurant and food/service was the best we experienced along our two week trip. The food and dishes at the Brasserie were better than most Michelin five star restaurants we have ever dined. Even the bar tenders were awesome, drinks were delicious and unique and they were knowledgeable about everything Norwegian. We were their two day and spent every single minute from 8am to 22pm in the spa. Approximately 75-80% of the people there we in Well Swim wear and the other 25-10% were natural. If we lived in Norway, we would be regulars! In my opinion, The Well should be designated a Norwegian national treasure. If I could rate them 100 stars, I certainly would.

Yelp
First I'd like to say, thank you for the availability and the opportunity to stay at your establishment. I had the please to stay for 5 nights and my only regret, I didn't stay longer. Next time, I'm staying for a few weeks. This place is nothing but apart of heaven. The staff were extremely helpful and amazing. Even the other guest guests were very polite and fun to be around. It was a very pleasant experience and well needed. I'd recommend this establishment to everyone. I look forward to rebooking again in the future.

Yelp
This spa does not disappoint. Hands down the best spa that I have ever visited. Multiple steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs, pools, massage jets , out door pools and bar and my favorite was the waterfall cave. I can not describe how gorgeous, relaxing and spectacular this place is. 3 levels of everything you could ever want. Be prepared to stay the entire day as I only was there 3 hours and wished I would have stayed longer. Pay the extra and do the day delux package. You can take the free bus from city center . Amazing, amazing amazing!
