Situated on the former site of the Versailles Diner, the owner Nick has followed in his father’s footsteps and expanded the family business, West Essex Diner, located on Route 46 East in Fairfield, where my partner and I decided to pay them a visit today.
Upon arrival as first-timers, this upscale establishment was fully energized by the music as a local favorite waited for their names to be called for a table from the host, who I knew from a different diner.
Within 30 minutes, we managed to get a table by the window at one of the two dining rooms, evoking an airy, bright, and casual vibe.
Their menu has everything one can imagine. There were pages of breakfast options and different lunch and dinner options.
We decided on the California Benedict and Meat Gyro open platter, accompanied by a small cup of Cream of Turkey and a large Greek salad. I must have been hungry and forgot to take pictures. 😬🤫😜😂. The food was exceptionally tasty. It was busy for a Sunday but not stressed; there were lots of staff, and things moved along efficiently. Our server, Sergio, was friendly and accommodating. The price was comparable to the area, and the portions were healthy.
This is a true example of New Jersey Diner!
