Where to Stay in Chicago When Your Visit (Updated 2025)

"Set right along the Chicago River, I’ve found the Westin Chicago River North to be an upscale yet cozy four‑star with bright, spacious rooms (some with river or skyline views); all rooms include a tea/coffee maker, desk, and flatscreen TV, some even have Peloton machines, and there’s a fitness center — I’ve stayed at a lot of Westins and this is one of the nicer ones." - Matthew Kepnes

Chicago is like our second home and we come visit every two months. Jill checked us in and she was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived early and I had asked the hotel prior so they could accommodate our request. We waited for around 30mins and were able to get into the room. When we entered the room they were upgrading new phones in the room and I spoke to the director of the engineering and he was very nice and friendly to me and my husband. They had made sure to have a flyer in the room regarding that. Service express is the best. I left few clothes in the cupboard and Melanie helped track it and made sure security calls me back. I don’t have the name of the security guard but he was very nice. After everything I got a call from FedEx and they have prepared my clothes to ship back home. This was our second stay and we cannot wait to be back. Always the best and worth the money. Book the room with view and you’ll not regret it!!!

Beautiful hotel, very clean and comfortable room. Very quiet and the view was amazing. Loved all the little extras like the lavender oil and the snacks, and the hospitality from the staff was wonderful. Room service breakfast was 10/10 too. Can’t wait to come back!

The service at this hotel goes above and beyond, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat. When I had the misfortune of spraining my ankle the day before arriving, the staff, especially Charles and the ladies at the front desk, went out of their way to accommodate me and make sure I still had a pleasant stay. The staff here make the hotel incredible. The location is also perfect, and has nice views of the river.

Arrived after the Giants/White Sox game and were greeted by a friendly valet. Check-in was smooth and we were given a nice room on the 17th floor. The view was of the neighborhood offices and garage. We got a very good night's sleep. The area was convenient to the RiverWalk and we enjoyed strolling and exploring the area. The House of Blues was across the street and there were lots of restaurants nearby. We were provided breakfast (being Titanium). The buffet was good but not overwhelming. The servers were very friendly. The front office staff was always willing to be helpful with advice on walking the area and driving back to Guaranteed Rate Field. They generously provided an umbrella for a walk to Starbucks during a rain downpour. The location was an easy walk to Harry Carey's for dinner and the Navy Pier. Be aware of the daily valet fee and daily amenity fee.

I have to say the service has been consistently responsive and friendly - from bell services to the front desk. I am in Chicago for work this week and didn’t stay at my go to hotel (the Lasalle) bc I was attending meeting literally next door. The front desk even moved me up at my request after the first day and the views of the river from many of the rooms is terrific. Also helpful breakfast in the club for those working with platinum and above. Terrific stay so far and I expect to be back after this week. High scores all around and it’s hard to beat this location if you’re a tourist.

I just want to say this by far has to be the best experience I’ve had. First time ever doing valet and want to say that the valet attendant Jose from LAZ really did help me out with everything. He gave me all the info I needed from pricing to on how to retrieve my vehicle 10/10 service!!! Hotel was also super clean and I enjoyed the friendly staff inside as well ! Thank you guys for going above and beyond for your customers! You guys rock!!!

This is a perfectly good hotel. Good rooms and location. Good service and adequate restaurant/room service. Friendly, helpful staff. Just nothing that is great. Have stayed many times and will again, but it’s nothing to write home about. I don’t mean that as a slight (this is better than many hotels), but Chicago has some really great/fun hotels as well (the Gwen comes to mind). In another city I’d probably give it 5 stars.

I stayed here during my trip to Chicago for the Cowboy Carter Tour, and the Westin did not disappoint!||||Thanks to my Platinum status, I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite—and wow, it was everything. The high floor gave me the most beautiful view of the river, and the space itself was open, clean, and just felt peaceful.||||Every staff member I encountered was warm, professional, and greeted me every time I came or went. They responded quickly to all my requests, which I really appreciated.||||The room? Stunning. And that Marriott bed… always a favorite. So comfortable, I didn’t want to get up. The bathroom was spacious, and the hot water was consistently perfect.||||All around, this was a fantastic stay—comfortable, welcoming, and exactly what I needed for a concert weekend in the city. I’ll definitely be back!
