The Westin Europa & Regina

"Note: As of August 2018, this hotel is closed for renovations, and is expected to reopen in 2019. In a paradox uniquely Venetian, the hotel manages to be central—minutes from San Marco, with a private entrance on the Grand Canal no less—yet maintains an elite seclusion when approached from land, where five joined palazzo comprising the hotel are tucked away. The grande dame has among the best views in Venice, plus all the marbled floors and gilded mirrors you could hope for. Look out for the Murano glass chandeliers and Rubelli silk wall linings in the guest rooms, too."

We went a long time ago but you come to a dock and busboy comes to grab luggage from it boat taxi. You enter right on the grand canal and if you walk out the back you are a minute from St Marks Square! Excellent location.

Google
For reference, I visited in June of 2018. Staff was excellent. The rooms were well furnished but tired and well worn. Which depending on your viewpoint can be charming or just old. In the bathroom, I move the curtain to open the window and the curtain and rod all fell apart— literally. Furthermore, one of the light fixtures on the wall was broken. Notwithstanding these minor annoyances the location is fantastic! Food - Breakfast is solid. Eating breakfast on the waterfront in the early morning is peaceful and is a real value to the hotel. Dinner - The staff was great, but the food was...rough. It looked nice but tasted horrible. If you have a credit on your room, don’t waste your time, there are better places to spend your time and money.

Google
Definitely a 5 star hotel based on the rooms and the staff. The location and facilities are beautiful and well maintained EXCEPT FOR THE BLACK MOLD IN THE SHOWER! However, I spent 20 minutes looking for my room and the hallways are well over 32 degrees Celsius. By the time I found my room I was extremely uncomfortable and hot. Better signage and comfort management would bump this up to 5 stars

Google
Service was very accommodating. They were able to switch us to a room with two beds rather than one king size without an issue. The location is great. It is within walking distance to many sites. The room was beautiful and kept neat and clean.

It was always my dream to go to Venice for my honeymoon and my new husband not only brought me there but took me here. This was my favorite stay through our whole 10 day trip through Italy. We got a great room with an amazing view and two balconies. The bed was heaven (which I soon realized is hard to find in an Italian hotel) and I even enjoyed the bathroom and shower (despite the clogged shower drain). They even had the best breakfast I had in Italy. The bar and bartenders were wonderful (also the best cocktails I had in Italy) and I really enjoyed spending time outside on the patio area between the two dining areas. So relaxing and beautiful! I really want to come back to Venice to spend more time in the city and swing it through this hotel!

Google
Great location, far better than expectation for Westin. Got upgraded to room with Grand canal view as spg platinum member. Room was spacious eventhough we didn't get a suite. Amazing view!! Loved that it had wood floor, not carpet. Every staff extremely welcoming& friendly. Promptly delivered dog bed& bowls for our 2 small dogs. Didn't feel hotel was outdated, very fast response& service to every request, included breakfast was standard and good. The only thing was there was no one to help us with luggage as we got off water taxi at their loading dock. It was my favorite stay in all of Italy trip!

Google
Beautiful hotel in a great location! It's very nice and quiet for as close as it is to San Marco. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Be sure to have breakfast on the canal at least once on your stay. The food is delicious and the view is unbeatable!

Google
Best view in Venice! The check in reception escorted us to our beautiful room. I loved this hotel, the staff was helpful and friendly. But when they opened the door to our room..... I was very impressed with the beauty of our room! Spacious, well decorated, comfortable, a tin of cookies waiting for us to try and a PATIO WITH A VIEW!! WoW! I highly recommend staying here, the location is central to the heartbeat of Venice. And the gondola ride is a must!

Yelp
A POLTERGEIST ENCOUNTER Proximity to major attractions Grand Canal, Santa Maria Basilica, San Marco Square we opted to stay at The Westin Europa & Regina, Venice. Our experience is one of a kind true to life story of ghost. Yes, ghost! Didn't believe in paranormal activity until I have encountered one here in Venice, Italy. A quick breakdown on service and ambiance before we head back to the paranormal encounter. We weren't impressed on the service. The ambiance looks decrepit and sort of ancient feel. Upon entering our room, the moment I stepped my foot in, there was an untold energy in the room. Gave my company a heads up about the obscure presence in the room. The night progressed, we laid down our luggage not thinking of any scary scenario whatsoever. When time for shower, strongly felt there was an energy staring at me. When brushing teeth, that staring thing was fixed. The clock ticked at 11:00 PM, the remote control on the TV flew down on the floor by itself. Shocked and horrified. A poltergeist activity just right in front of our faces. We recited some prayers. But didn't end there. The room started to change cold temperature. Figured out what to do next. Started to doubt the room was haunted. Exhausted decided to get some snooze. When I got to the bed, unknown energy gave me enough reason to not sleep where the head pillows were, instead I changed direction to the foot of the bed. I was choked during sleep about 1:00 in the morning. Jumped out of the bed, packed our bags, called reception desk requested to merge us to our second group down the hallway rooms so that we can all be together. Didn't tell front desk of paranormal, actual movement of the remote control slammed itself onto the floor. They probably heard a ton.

Yelp
For a hotel close to the best accommodations in Venice, this Westin Europa falls below expectations. Almost everything from accommodations to service was a notch off for a 4 star or SPG category 5/6 hotel. The best part is location, very close top great restaurants and shopping, so for first timers to Venice (which we are not), this is great. Starwood recogniIton is lacking, I asked about upgrade availability but did not get one. Still happy from the water taxi transfer arrival in style, I didn't mind. I got the room I booked for, I inquired about upgrade and canal view, not neither. Except when I came down later to ask a question, the same front desk staff (Alessandro) checked in another guest who also booked the same accommodation level, but was upgraded to a higher level suite. I overheard their glee and surprise for the upgrade, don't even think he was Starwood member. I am sure the hotel would give some room availability reason, but this difference in treatment makes me uneasy, no matter, I can ignore this discriminatory treatment and have a good time anyway. No thanks to Alessandro. Room itself was fine, but was a handicap access room for non handicapped people, so the shower to fit a wheel chair and no curtain was strange for the kids to use. The guaranteed canal view was a joke, there are buildings flanking each side so there is a tunnel vision view of the canal, yes you can see the water but that's it, no panoramic view across the canal, which is really the point isn't it? So here Alessandro let us down again, I asked for canal view, he says we have partial canal view, boy I didn't expect partial to be myopic tunnel vision. But we already unpacked and I am with the family, so didn't want to dampen their fun. Room service itself was fine, expect glasses are dirty, barely rinsed out so I can see how dirty they are. Definitely nothing from staff that goes beyond new shampoo and towels. Having just come from St Regis from our last city during this trip, where we got surprise presents every night, this no frills indifferent service and lack of unpgrades stands in stark contrast, this place falls below expectations. For a city like Venice, where it's history and art are magical, this hotel definitely is not memorable in a good way. From lobby to rooms, this hotel looks, smells, and feels worn out. We will not be back and would not recommend to a friend. If you need a place to sleep and shower, park your luggage and spend all day out, this place works. If you are coming for a special occasion, want some pampering and be treated first class, look to Luna Baglioni or Gritti. The Westin Europa barely earns its 4 stars. Which is too bad.

Yelp
This place is amazingly exquisite... A hotel right on the canal. The room I stayed in wasn't facing the canal but facing a square which was fine because how can you complain about staying here?! The lobby is exquisite with its black and white marble, fancy chandeliers, and beautiful paintings. The only off thing about this hotel is their lift which to me isn't a big issue but if you're not picky you'd want it renovated. The hotel has a restaurant and bar facing the canal. It's truly an awesome place to sip a Bellini in the afternoon watching the sunset or watching the gondolas pass by. The room is equally exquisite with three main separate rooms: the bathroom, social/ living area, and the bedroom. The bedroom and the social area is separated by a fanciful curtain. There is a walk in closet and the bathroom is huge, it can actually be a marble room. The floor seem to be heated and there is a huge bath tub of you wanted to have a soothing bubble bath or a romantic one at that! There were two chandeliers that makes the rooms whimsical and you feel like your staying in a palace. One of my favourite thing about the room is the grand windows next to the bed. One morning when it was raining I just separated the curtains so I can see outside and stayed in the comfy cloud-like bed for 20 minutes...It was perfect! This was a memory I'll definitely store in my head about Venezia! The bed- amazing! If you like feeling like you're sleeping on clouds this is it! The down comforter was fluffy and soft. There were plenty of pillows and the bed can fit 3-4 people. As for the staff... They were amazingly hospitable and attentive. Overall this hotel is nothing but an amazing experience! It's romantic, sensual, functional, and dreamy. If you want to experience this in Venice especially with the special person in your life this place is great! If your single and want to feel like Casanova, this is an awesome place as well!

Yelp
If I can give this hotel 10 stars I would. I'm here in Venice from New York for two nights. The St. Regis is phenomenal from the moment you walk to the entrance you are instantly greeted by the staff. The building and room is beautiful. Fully renovated with high ceilings the service is just impeccable. Your definitely getting your moneys worth and your very close to all the main attractions as well as the designer stores!!

Yelp
The pasta was amazing. The flavours were paired perfectly. The tomato sauce was so good. Even simple dishes like pasta with tomato and basil were delicious. The seafood with pasta was extraordinary and the wine pairings were delicious (but then again you're in Italy). It is a pricy restaurant and I'm not sure that the price is worth it (pasta with basil tomato sauce is probably the cheapest thing to make. It should never cost over 10€....but then again you're in Venice, on the canal, in a hotel).

Yelp
I'm a Marriott person, so when they merged with SPG, I happily booked here! Check in is at 3pm, so when we arrived around 1:30pm, they told us our room isn't ready. This is unusual for Marriott Platinum members, so I was taken aback by this. We came back at 3pm and was told it will be another 45 minutes or so! We were told we have a upgrade so that was promising as it turns out, we got an awesome room! We had the view of the Grand Canal and had a balcony to stand on and view pretty much everything! Most of the staff is nice and helpful. Apologetic for the check in delay but what can they do? The concierge was helpful in giving us options and scheduling a tour to a glass company in Murano. Several of the concierge are members of Concierge Clefs d'Or, so you know they know their stuff. If they don't, they know someone that does! The breakfast buffet had a great selection of food juices. They had about 10 different types of juices! The hotel itself is definitely old Europe. Marble flooring, gold trim, heavy window drapes and old (and expensive) art. Location wise, it's a very short walk to San Marco. It's a minute away from Gucci, LV, YSL, D&G, etc. so you know it's in a good area. Unfortunately, you can't access the grand canal area directly even though the hotel is on the Grand Canal, so it's a few street turns away from the San Marco water taxi stop since you have to go around to get to the Westin.

Yelp
Came to Venice for vacation and stayed at the Westin Hotels Compared to other Westin's this is a much luxurious version. The color patterns a little mismatch but very grand feeling Staff was extremely nice And food is great

Yelp
I stayed here a number of years ago for a weekend in February, right at the beginning of Carnival. I coordinated a weekend with a lovely woman I was seeing - see had meetings in Milan and I was going to Munich after this. At the time I was Starwood Platinum, and I booked a King room with a view of the canal. As we checked in - after the train ride from Milan, the long water Vaporetto ride, and the cold walk from the square - the staff was quite friendly as they informed us ... I had been upgraded to a suite with a terrace on the top floor! Right across the canal from the room was the Basilica, with the Lagoon behind it and Lido off in the distance. The furnature was pure classical period style and the terrace was larger than my next room in Munich. Unfortunately it was February so the Terrace was of little use and some of the hotel facilities were not open. But it was fabulous anyway. Now, my stay may not be typical, not everyone gets upgraded to a $2,500/night hotel room. The location is great - easy walking to just about any part of Venezia. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not sure about wifi and connectivity - when we were in the room we weren't surfing the internet.

Yelp
There is not much not to like at this wonderfully placed hotel on the canal. It's pricey but I think it is worth every dollar. The first night we had drinks at the bar sitting on the canal before dinner and well, we could not tear ourselves away. The dinner was pricey but just sitting there was worth bunches. The rooms were large and oh so quiet. Nice gym and wonderful public spaces. It's proximity to San Marco is perfect. We will be back.

Yelp
Great choice for location and upscale atmosphere. Location was an easy walk to the main san marco square without being too close. Luxury italian atmosphere with marble floors, decent sized lobby and restaurant area, helpful service. Rooms were fine, what youd expect for europe - adequate but not large, nice comfortable bed. This hotel is a perfect use of Starpoints for a free stay, youll save a lot of money by not paying room taxes and the dollar doesnt go that far in euros anyway.

Yelp
Pros: Very beautiful hotel with an amazing view from the resturant. Service is average compared to price I'm paying. You get wifi, 2 free water bottles, no iorner, no coffee machine, TV without channels, if you want you can pay €35 for a movie Cons: over priced for what you get. Dinner was very expensive. Paid a €48 service fee for a $€50 dinner. I don't recommend this place. If you do stay DO NOT eat there.

Yelp
I did not stay at The Westin Europa & Regina and I wished I did! I had my wedding dinner there on June 10th 2015 so I will be writing a review for their restaurant instead. You can't go wrong with any of the food selection, it is delicious and I will be going back there on my next trip to Venice! We consumed: APERITIF: CLASSIC BACARATA Prosecco Colmei D.O.C.G., Spritz, Bellini and virgin Bellini, Acqua di Gio Olive all'ascolana, deep fried vegetables, shrimps cocktail MENU: PUNTA DELLA DOGANA Veal carpaccio with herbs and crunchy vegetables dressed with balsamic vinegar from Modena Creamed risotto with Cavallino garden vegetables Beef medallion with crunchy potato and cherry tomatoes au gratin Strawberry sorbet Wedding cake Coffee and venetian biscotti Everything on this menu is delicious! Thank you Europa & Regina for the wonderful food and great quality service! :)

Yelp
Venezia! Venice landed smack in the middle of our two week European tour. After several days of walking all over London and Paris, this Westin stay was perfect timing for much needed down time. Don't get me wrong, we ventured out and explored the shops, cuisine and "streets" of Venice. But, we also took time to enjoy the luxury this hotel offered. Our room was spacious and lovely with both an adequate view of the grand canal but also antique shutter doors in the large bathroom to enjoy the view of other hotels and the sounds of a nearby church bell ringing on the hour. The bathroom itself was vast, complete with a full European bath and sit down shower. It was very hot and humid during our stay so the bathroom itself was a treat to cool off, and rejuvenate with the spa treatments, luxurious robe and slippers. Thank you Westin!!

Yelp
The Westin Europa and Regina Venice is on the located on the grand canal and within a short walk of St Mark's Square. The staff are very friendly and attentive in every detail. I take a trip every year for my birthday. This is a tradition I have been doing for the past 12 years. Hotels always request passport or national ID at check in, so they can see your date of birth. This was the first time I ever had a hotel firstly notice and then acknowledge my birthday. I returned to my room the night of my birthday and found a handwritten card along with sparkling wine and a cake. Thank you to the hotel staff for making this day that more special. It is these small things that make a difference and encourage customer to return over and over. Grazie et mille.

Yelp
Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Great bed. Recommended. We booked 2 rooms for the family and both we're upgraded. On the water and only a 5 minute walk to st Mark's square
google avatar

Yelp
Great location. We could walk absolutely everywhere and it was right along the water. We loved the entrance and admittedly the room was really nice given it was a birthday celebration. But it lacked a bit of character. The chandeliers and mirror felt fake and plastic compared to some of the charm of the Danieli and the Bauer, but it is hard to compare anything to those two. Overall it was a great experience.

Yelp
So here's the thing. This hotel is fine, generally speaking. But there's something shady about it. My wife and I booked a reservation to stay there in early June. Upon our arrival, the woman at the front desk reacted in alarm when she saw my wife was with me, as she claimed I had only booked a room for one person. She claimed that the queen-sized beds in Europe (what I booked) are similar to the single beds in the U.S. and that I must have misunderstood. She then told me that we'd have to upgrade to a European King, which was the size of a U.S. queen-sized bed -- for nearly double the price. I balked, because I didn't feel like spending another 200 euros per night. After a great deal of uncomfortable back-and-forth, I convinced her to let us keep the room, despite that it was only big enough for one person. And much to our delight, the "European queen-sized" bed was precisely what we expected: a U.S. queen-sized bed. It easily fit two people, just like our bed at home. It was actually a lovely room, with a great view and all. I couldn't have been happier I stuck to my guns. I'm not sure what their game is at this hotel, if they just try to upsize room charges, or if they somehow really believe that two people can't fit in a queen bed. But it's bizarre. I contacted Starwood, and they provided no apology and claimed that I was mistaken, and that the queen sized bed I slept in only fits one person. The whole thing is so very, very strange. We didn't run into any problems like this with any of the other 7 hotels we stayed at during our Europe trip. And I've stayed in dozens of Starwood properties in multiple countries and had never experienced anything like this. I noticed they've recently changed the website to indicate that these queen rooms are "French beds" that only fit one person -- despite showing a picture of the bed with the caption "double bed" below. The only other option is the King, which consists of two twins pushed together. So they've apparently doubled-down on this bizarre policy. This was an expensive hotel to begin with, so I was very relieved not to have upgraded the room for nothing. I know it's Venice, where everything is expensive. But I'd suggest trying to find a more honest hotel if you've got lots of money to spend on a nice room. And if you don't, then just go to a cheaper shady spot -- no use in paying up for these sorts of antics.

Yelp
You feel a bit like a movie star, alighting from the water taxi right from the canal, and entering the gorgeous corridor leading to the concierge. There's also an entrance from the back alley, but why would you? This property is a gem, there's no faking it, no phony smoked mirrors, no pretended luxury, this is Venetian style at its best. Plus, you're on the beginning of the Canal Grande, steps away from Piazza San Marco, it doesn't get better than this in terms of location. I don't think I could spend a whole week here, but you don't want to miss the experience of having at least one breakfast on the terrace by the canal. The food is not bad (not incredible either, to be fair), the view is amazing, you forget the cappuccino and find yourself staring at the Basilica in front of you, wondering who life can get any better. While the service was quite slow, I found that it was more attentive than in other Westins in Italy, and for the price you pay, it'd better be. I did not manage to get the suite this time, but if you've got some Suite Night Award burning a hole in your virtual pocket, this is the place to spend them.

Yelp
We have stayed here several times over the years. It is part of the Starwood collection and is tied in with the Gritti and the Danelli. They provide a private Vaperetto service between all of the hotels. It was much better several years ago because Starwood also owned two hotels on the Lido and the same Vaperetto also served those hotels. So you could get a free ride to the beach and use the facilities of those hotels including the bars, restaurants, pools and cabanas. It was great to be in the heart of Venice and be able escape the heat and to pop over to the beach for a cool refreshing dip. The other great thing about the Europa and Regina as opposed to the flashier and better known Gritti and Danelli is that the rude, annoying New York and LA crowd are all hanging out in those other hotels, the Europa and Regina is usually filled with a lot more normal people. The location is also great because it is off the beaten path so it is extra quiet at the same time being very close to St Marks. It is also directly on the Grand Canal so the view is great. We have gotten to know some of the staff over the years and they are all wonderful. And, of course, it has those great beds.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to have an oppurtunity to travel here using Starpoints travel points which you should look into if you travel for work or pleasure. It is really well located and offers a great close location to San Marco Square. The hotel is beautiful and oppulent, in the true Venetian style. The service is 5 star and the room we had was spacious, very quiet, luxious, and comfortable, and had a small outdoor balcony, which was perfect for reading relaxing and watching the boats sail by. The front desk and consierge sevices were used daily to inquire about various things and getting reservations, and they exceeded our expectations at every turn, in making this a great vacation. They offer shuttle services for pick up when you arrive, which is a plus and allow dogs, (we traveled with a Standard Poodle). They also have a small gym and a great lounge bar with Piano. note: we traveled here in Oct 2008

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful, which alone would be fine, if all you came for was to LOOK at it. If you want complimentary accomodations, and a place to eat that won't break your pockets, this is NOT the place to be... NO iron, or iron board, NO microwave, NO refrigerator, NO coffee pot, NO movie channels, NO places close by to grab something REASONABLE to eat. Hotel Restaurant sells water for $9 a bottle, needless to say how RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE a meal is... NEVER, NEVER AGAIN!!!

Yelp
Lovely hotel, however they had a private party that was playming music so loudly it was next to impossible to sleep. The hotel staff said they would be playing the music untill 11pm. I have greatly enjoyed my trip to Italy but I can't wait to say good bye to this hotel. I hope they decide to change how private functions work in the future, as for me I will never know for I will never come back here. I do want to make an addendum, the hotel staff did get the party goers to lower the music after asking them twice; and it was lowered to a much more tolerable level. The hotel couldn't be more beautiful and the staff are excellent. I am still annoyed at the major inconvenience but appreciate that the staff still tried to help. Be careful there could be a large event at this hotel. I had previously rated this hotel 1/5 and felt it was unfair, hence the addendum.

Yelp
Terrific hotel, particularly for those with SPG status. I used two suite night awards to be upgraded to the One Bedroom Deluxe suite with a view of the canal. A note and bottle of champagne from the manager was waiting in the room on our arrival; a nice touch for our romantic getaway to Venice. I was particularly impressed with the evening concierge who was able to fulfill peculiar requests (watch battery replacement) as well as the common ones (excellent pizza). Venice can be tough to follow on a map with few landmarks and many small alleyways, but this concierge made all our journeys seamless and easy. Lastly, the breakfast buffet is robust and worth every cent to eat out on the terrace and start your day. Especially worth it to select free breakfast if you have platinum welcome amenity option. Thank you for a terrific stay!

Yelp
We were given a room we wouldn't let anyone stay in. We had to move the bed away from the wall until we got a larger room. We were told $55 euro for water taxi but cost us $70 Euro. We had asked for a 3:30 pick up we had to ask what is going on at 3:45 as nothing was being done. Never were told about no coffee in the room, but was complimentary since they didn't have machines on the room. Very disappointed for over $500 a night we should've had a much better experience. We moved to another hotel. Thus the water taxi charge

Yelp
This hotel was very pretty and I have to say the concerige Marco was so nice and helpful and he deserves a 5 star! However a couple things, 1 we asked for ice which never came and there is nowhere to get it yourself. Second on our last day there we purchased pastries at some of the bakeries. We headed back to the hotel as it started to rain and they had a patio with umbrellas and covering so we decided to go out there as we had been out there earlier in the day. We sat down and I ordered a coffee to try with some pastries. I understand there were from there but the coffee I just ordered was not to mention that I'm spending a fortune staying in a water front room. I asked if I could please have a fork when the waiter rudely told me I was allowed to eat it there. First I completely understand but I just ordered a coffee and in a guest at the hotel... so what's the problem. I don't care where you are this is bad customer service when we are spending so much money and trying to enjoy the view for 20 minutes. In additional its a pretty noisy hotel, you can hear every door slam, vacuum and people talking. I have stayed at many Westin's throughout the USA and other countries and didn't love this one.

Yelp
This is an amazing hotel and a great value. The hotel Danelli which is the same hotel group is approx. 5 to 7 times the cost of this hotel but very similar in amenities. We received a penthouse with terrace for approx. $1,500 Usd a night. The room was huge with large terrace over looking the huge cathedral on the grand canal. It had a large salon, huge bedroom, dressing room with large closets and large marble bath with double sinks, separate tub and separate shower. All with great hair care and body products. The staff was more than accommodating. Daniella the manager came out to great us on arrival and personally showed us to our room. They had given us a rosé champagne, carnival desserts and chocolates waiting for our arrival. This was my second year staying in the hotel for carnival. This year myself and partner are on a very specific diet. We spoke to Daniella the manager. And she arranged with the chef to bring out foods and prepare it perfectly and double checked with us the day before for our selections. We also lost our luggage for three days and the concierge followed up 3 and 4 times a day to track the luggage down. They delivered it to the room and called me immediately upon arrival. They also delivered toiletries and offered to help in any way. I would strongly recommend this hotel if you are going for a suite category for just the staffs ability to help, accommodate and make you feel most welcome! Enjoy! Arrivederci!

Yelp
Stayed here May 2012 This hotel is very centrally located to the main areas of interest in venice so it's extremely convenient. Very close to shopping and of course all the waterbus stops. It also has it's own boat landing so if you take a taxi you get right off at the hotel. Very lavish hotel with so much history and charm. Cool downstairs bar! Having said that, if you are expecting a super cozy bed and breakfast, this is not for you. This is an authentic full 5 star european hotel with history. Rooms tend to be a little darker with an extremely rustic feel. We were upgraded to a suite and our starwood concierge Annette arranged a bottle of champagne for us. Staff was very accomodating and friendly. Concierge was very thorough. Prices are high but you pay for the location, history and charm. Used points for our stay.

Yelp
A grand ol' hotel in an exceptional location, but I doubt I'd stay here without using Starwood points for the room. Drinks on the deck can be a sublime moment even though the drinks are preposterously expensive. I recommend seeing at least one sunset on the deck. What a view. Going home, I also recommend spending the extra cash and taking a water taxi from here to the airport. Gondolas are overrated.

Yelp
We stayed here for our 25yr wedding anniversary this Spring. The property is lovely and the location is great. At the concierge desk Alessandro is amazing!! Breakfast is an experience and one of the best buffets I have ever seen. Even my husband who is not a fan of buffets , was impressed. i would give this hotel 4 stars if it werent for the rude front desk staff! BEWARE... you are treated as though you were a bother and lucky to even be spoken to by these snooty women who check you in. It unfortunaltey set the tone on the way in and way out. Dont even think of stopping by to ask a question. DO NOT bother any of these women unless you want to be treated like you are a piece of chewing gum on the bottom of their shoe... amazing they are in customer service! We have traveled all over the world and never encountered such unpleasant , arrogant, rude, rude women.

Yelp
A wonderful hotel in a wonderful location right on the Grand Canal in Venice. We arrived via water taxi and after a short walk over a few bridges we arrived. The building is hundreds of years old and the hotel magically hides right inside. People expecting a typical big city Westin will be disappointed as again it is hidden in a very old building.. The rooms are small but well appointed including quite a bathroom, in fact the bathroom was almost half the size of the room. Our room's balcony (just enough to stand on) looked out of the courtyard where the lobby is. It was a bit crazy to find our room even after we had been in there a few times, a little bit of a labyrinth which was cool since you are walking between old connected buildings. We had breakfast one of the mornings, an expansive buffet, which we ate while watch the boat races on the Grand canal right next to us. Amazing location, historic accommodations!

Yelp
Fell in love with the view from our balcony room. If you plan to stay in Venice, make it worth your stay and pay the extra $ to have a view of the Grand Canal. Concierge service was excellent and gave us amazing fine dining recommendations. Great location and no need to haul your luggage across town to get to a water taxi as concierge can make the arrangements and the dock is right in front of the hotel. Would definitely return for our next trip to Venice!

Yelp
We were upgraded to a suite...the suite was pretty amazing. There are stairs required to get to some of the rooms... Breakfast was absolutely fantastic...great food, amazing view, and champagne. Who can ask for more? The location of the hotel is also great...just a short walk from the valparetto stop. Only noteworthy item is to know where you are going...the hotel is hard to find if you do not have a good idea of the location in advance.

Yelp
I stayed in Room 524. Room not up to the usual Westin standards. Room was dark. Lacked any decoration on the walls. Check out the official hotel website: you will see bright airy room with paintings and blue paint.. Familiar with the Westin double shower head? Not in our bathroom. Not even a bathtub. Had a shower smaller than the old style phone booths. Great location. Terrible service.

Yelp
This is a very fine hotel! Excellent location, excellent room and balcony, and excellent breakfast! Their cappuccino is great! The hotel staff is friendly and helpful: they provided us a temp Wi-Fi access while we were waiting for check-in, and they allowed us to extend an hour to checkout. We and three kids had a very pleasant stay!

Yelp
We loved this place! We upgraded to a room with a full canal view (room 250 i think?) and while it was pricey, it was totally worth it! The hotel is really centrally located, and only a few steps away from St Marco square, and all the action. Our room had an amazing view of the famous Santa Maria Della Salute Church, and of the grand Canal! We were there for 4 nights, and walked everyday for about 6 hours a day. We were there in August, so it was super hot, but the great thing about Venice is that there are plenty of hidden ally ways, and areas of shade to escape, guzzle some water (or Sorbeto in our case!) and cool off. I recommend getting lost! Getting lost is so much fun in Venice! Lastly, if you workout alot, the gym is just ok....but isn't that the case with most hotels?

Yelp
I mean PLEASE. This hotel was so amazing! The staff was excellent. The rooms were beautiful and big. The breakfast buffet was delicious. We had to take a boat taxi to get there, but the location otherwise is wonderful. Close to shops, San Marco square, and museums. Hope to have the chance to stay here again.

Yelp
Nice hotel, but the room was ok and the service was horrible, especially for the price. The front desk lady was extremely argumentative and was not able to answer some simple questions. We asked where breakfast was served and she replied "in the restaurant" and so we asked where the restaurant was and got "near the balcony" and then asked where the balcony was and got "next to the restaurant" (and around again). Took us 5 minutes to even find where we could eat! Answers to questions are answered constantly with its the customer's fault. Not up to Westin standards and not worth the huge premium. Find somewhere else.

Yelp
Our room was perfect! We celebrated our anniversary here, had Champagne and strawberries to our surprise in our room!:) we loved the view from our room, perfectly located in the middle of St Marcs square.

Yelp
First, let's be clear, it is unbeatable. You are right on the Grand Canal, you are right next to St. Mark's Square, you are at a 5-star hotel. Yes, there are other more secluded and opulent hotels but the combination of location and quality make this the best choice. The staff is superb and the breakfast buffet is the best you will experience in the world. Anything you want really and you eat right on the Grand Canal. On the nit-picking side, it was more Venetian feeling before Westin bought it. Now you have the at-every-Westin furniture and the leaf-shaped soap I got at the Westin in Long Beach. It also is as expensive as it can be. Beers are 10 euros each at the bar ($13-14). There is no wifi in the rooms, only a cable internet connection. Wifi in the lobby is something like 12 euros per hour or 18 for the day. Some of the rooms are a bit of a walk from the main lobby so you may want to request a room close to the front. Also, views of the canal are not full views. Given the U-shape layout of the complex it is possible you can get a canal view room with a lot of building in it. Also the suites have taken on a very business feel. We had one but rarely used the "living room" side. It was somewhat a waste. Many US TV channels (I got to watch the Flyers playoff game live!) but the TV quality was poor. Overall, the best choice in Venice but can be improved.

Yelp
This hotel is awful I'm a world traveler and this place is a dump honestly I've stayed In Westin hotels and the rooms are not as dirty as this hotel. The service is not nice and the entire hotel is a dump rooms are so old honestly this is a place not to go I've been all over the world ex china London Russia and even Fiji and this place sucks had a friend who went back and it was better

Yelp
Nice hotel and good location. Rooms are typical European size. Service was a little slow checking in. Staff was overall pretty nice and helpful.

Yelp
Great hotel in a great location. Did not have a good view and were placed in the Regina building which is less preferable, but they were sold out and couldn't switch. Concierge, Alessandro is the best! The front desk a bit overwhelmed at times. The breakfast is outstanding. The staff fabulous. The room was well appointed and beds very comfortable. A bit pricey due to location.
