First, the hotel receptionists were extremely unfriendly.
When we arrived at the hotel they did not smile or greet us, which felt racist.
We often use the Marriott family of hotels when we travel and a week ago we stayed at Marriott hotels in Brussels and Lisbon. The receptionists at both were very friendly and helpful, and it was a wonderful memory.
However, we felt terrible discrimination from the people at this hotel. My daughter developed a fever of 39°C on the train from Milan to Rome, so I explained the situation more than an hour before our arrival in Rome and asked for a car (for a fee, of course), but the man at the reception coldly told me that he could not provide a car unless I requested one the day before.I couldn't help but feel discriminated against for being treated in this way, even though in a hotel of this class there should be plenty of requests for a car on the same day.
When I asked for the wifi password at check-in, I was told in disgust that it was written on the bag with the key, but it was nowhere to be found.
There was no coffee or kettle in the room, so I called room service, but when there was no answer, I called reception, who angrily hung up the phone saying, "This is reception".As a side note, the coffee we ordered from room service, which we finally got through after several calls, was 13 euros per cup.
The lobby was beautiful and when we asked the lady at reception to take our picture, she didn't want to move a step and took our picture from where she was at the time, so we were so small that we couldn't even identify our faces without stretching them out. They didn't even want to take just five steps forward.
We have lived in Milan for over 10 years and have travelled to Italy and many other European cities, but we have never been so disappointed. Moreover, the response and service was such that I cannot believe that this is a five-star Westin hotel, and I will not stay there again.
It was such a disappointing experience that it has tarnished the image of the city of Rome itself. Rome is a wonderful, wonderful city, but it is really sad if people have the same impression of us because of the way we are treated by the hotel.
We would like you to stop judging and responding to people based on discrimination.
Accommodation that you really didn't like.
