The Westin Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Hamburg's latest architectural landmark, the Elbphilharmonie, is a truly spectacular location: its futuristic superstructure set on an old warehouse building and connected by the Plaza. The Westin offers a magnificent view of the harbour and HafenCity, bright, state-of-the-art minimalist-style guestrooms, chic spa. North German cuisine in the restaurant Fang & Feld." - Tablet Hotels

Our arrival by car would have been far easier if there had been either better signage indicating where we might unload our vehicle or had there been a bellhop. It was easy to maneuver through the garage and park, a novelty for many European garages. Of course, we did not move the car again until the day we left. We enjoyed our well furnished, comfortable room with its novel porthole window that allowed us to have fresh air. I also appreciated that the windows had been treated to reduce bird impacts (and deaths). The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We found the bar with its great views to be far too noisy much of the time. Access to the performing center was great. There are super restaurants within walking distance. The only real downside was the unpleasant intense soap-like odor being pumped into the lobby near the elevators. I tried to hold my breath because it caused my allergies to flair up, resulting in a headache. I was ecstatic one day to see that someone had unplugged the machine.

Excellent - nothing left to wish for. Brilliant location, superb views, staff extremely helpful. We changed the room and got a free upgrade overlooking port and city. Parking on site was available - not cheap - but for the location okay.|The swimming pool had a good length and the gym was well equipped. Breakfast was a buffet with good choices.

This was a beautiful hotel on the water with wonderful views. The hotel is also above the symphony performance hall. Close to the warehouse district so we were able to walk to Miniature Wonderland. We were upgraded to a suite which was large and spacious with a larger closet and vanity area.

There is a such a potential with this hotel, yet our experience with the service was a disaster. After checking in, we waited thirty minutes to receive our luggages in our rooms that were misplaced some other floors. The front desk had young and unexperienced staff smiling when asked for someone responsible to talk to and room cleaner coming to knock at the door in the morning before 9AM.. Wondering if someone is actually in charge of details at this hotel.

Staying in Westin hotel was an experience I will never forget. The location is perfect and the view from the 17th floor is spectacular. The staf at the restaurant was really friendly and professional. Special thanks to Carlotta and Alina from the FO.These two ladies made us feel so welcomed. We will definitely be back soon. We where 2 adults and 2 children and had booked 2 connecting rooms. Upon arrival we got dropped outside on the place in front of the Elbphilharmonie where a very small sign indicates there is a Westin. You have to enter there and then take an elevator to the lobby. There was no help with the luggage. Checking was quick and our 2 rooms where ready. Huge disappointment on entering the first room as there was no view at all. Picture attached. We just had to look at the facade of the building. Super disappointing and this was not mentioned anywhere. Then we had to call the service because despite ordering connecting rooms as a family, the doors where locked. Went to the pool and noted another family had children slippers and bathrobes which we had not in the room. Had to ask again and then they came. There was also no amenity kit in the room and the mini / snack bar was empty. The showers where not comfy as the water pressure was far too low. One day housekeeping came in the room without knocking. Breakfast was ok. The bar was always packed because of many visitors from outside. |Now this 4 nights costet over 3000€. And this value is by far not returned. I would not go back and also not recommend.

Google
Good size rooms with comfortable bed. Staffs are fluent in English and polite as expected for Westin standard. Great view and got lucky sighting of a navy vessel. Only 1 small down side is the breakfast is the same every day. The range is also limited for a full 5 star like Westin. Other than this, all is perfect and highly recommended hotel in Hamburg

Google
I found this to be a quirky hotel, placed as it is on top of the Elbphilharmonie almost as an after-thought. The entrance is small and poky, the shape and layout of the hotel is odd but it works best when in your room looking at the view. The public areas are small and the pool was not quite what we expected. And the food and beverage prices were astronomical.

Yelp
This iconic Westin is one of the best options to stay at if Hamburg is your departure cruise port or if just visiting the city. Location is perfect to see the attractions with enough dining options. Views are spectacular as the viewing deck is even a popular attraction in itself. Beds a bit stiff as well as a stuffy feel, but the staff was great. Would happily stay here again.

Yelp
Ok giving the Westin only 3 stars for a few reasons. Mainly the AC in the rooms is non existent. Rooms are hot! And we have 68 rooms right now and everyone has said their rooms are hot. 2nd reason the gym sucks here. Crap fitness room! The hotel is very pretty with amazing views from the rooms. Comfy beds and probably the best shower in a hotel I've had in a long time. They fix the ac issues in the rooms and I would give this a 4 Star easy. Nice place to stay and friendly staff as well.

Yelp
There are plenty of reasons why this Westin is one of the better ones. First the location was pretty good. Right by the water so plenty of places to eat and shop. Also walking distance to a few local attractions. There are also plenty of transportation options including the ferry boat which drops you off right by the hotel. Second is the architecture and set up of the hotel itself. It actually sits on top of an Orchestra House so the entrance, you have to take an elevator up to the 8th floor which is actually the lobby of the hotel. Large seating area as well as huge glass windows so you it is a gorgeous view from all around. You also get access to the plaza area to actually walk around the edge instead of seeing from inside the hotel lobby. The plaza area is an actual separate tourist attraction that you have to pay to get access too, so that is a perk that comes with your stay. The rooms are nice and modern. Pretty comfortable and very unique. Huge windows, which my room faced the front of the hotel, afforded you great views and the ability to look over "the edge" from inside your room. A smaller window opened up as well. The bathroom and your bed was separated by a glass window which also had a shade. Breakfast here was pretty good, which the standard European spread. Eggs to orders as well as fried, hard boiled and scrambled. Beans, tomatoes, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns etc. Also the standard cold cut and bread selection which both were good. Also a good greek yogurt selection with fresh fruit. Seating area had high tops and regular table tops. I plan on coming back to visit Hamburg and I definitely want to stay here again.

Yelp
Lovely hotel. Comfortable room, stylishly designed, well appointed. We did not spring for the 50€ upgrade for a room with a view - but I was actually enchanted with the internal air shaft view - and amused to learn from the emergency exit floor plan that it backed onto the concert hall. (No we couldn't hear anything.) Hotel lobby is on the same floor as the outdoor viewing terrace for the Elbphilharmonie; we were able to access that and take the curved escalator down to ground level. We sprung for the hotel breakfast - it was an excellent German buffet with a little of everything. Hotel has a beautiful pool, and a sauna. Also - we arrived early in the day, and were able to do an early check-in - at about 9:30. Since we'd just gotten off of a transatlantic flight, the early check-in was a godsend.

Yelp
The hotel is a-mazing on the outside. Not often you get to stay in an architectural landmark. In fact, staying in this hotel was how I sold my wife on the idea of coming to Germany in the first place. Architecturally, it was fascinating on the inside and outside, and thanks to the complimentary access to the 8th floor lobby of the Elbephilharmonie, we were completely satisfied with this angle. In addition, the concierge Mr. Oliver Sick went absolutely above and beyond to make sure we had a fantastic time there. We enjoyed (briefly) getting to know him, and because of him, we had a truly memorable experience in Hamburg and at the Westin. Like Justin M., I am SPG Platinum, but I didn't experience the same perks. That's fine, I paid extra (points) for the Hafencity view and I got exactly that. That was great. I agree that the Westin Club was not well appointed, and it felt like an afterthought. However, I appreciated that it existed, and found it handy as a place to relax. I felt like the front desk was not very welcoming, and our keys were not properly configured for the club. That was inconvenient. We were also told by the restaurant host that we could not take breakfast at the restaurant unless the Club was not serving it at the time. That was a shame because I thought the (complimentary as Plat) breakfast buffet was excellent. Overall, I was put off by this, but unfortunately my expectations in relations with hotel staff are lower in Europe.

Yelp
This is an ultramodern, luxury hotel with some serious issues... The good: overlooking Hafen City in Hamburg and sitting on top of the Elbephilharmonie, the views from any room are incredible! The rooms are resplendent in their furnishings. This place should have been a home run. It wasn't, far from it. The bad: Where to begin? Lets start with the 30 euro per person breakfast that's highly overpriced for cold cuts, bread, and some breakfast sausage. Yes, that's typical fare for hotels in Germany, but, damn dude... 30? On checking in, the connecting rooms that I had reserved were no longer available. No explanation given. And other than some nonsense of moving our family into king sized bed rooms that connect, no solution was offered. Though, two separate managers felt the need to explain that this to me twice, and in exactly the same way. The really bad; DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!! depending on which employee of the hotel I spoke with and at seemingly random points of my stay, the parking garage was either 50 euros a night if you took your car out first thing in the morning and parked it somewhere else or you can leave it in the parking garage for the low price of 150 euros a night! That's right, 150... Let's put that into perspective: The parking garage at 39th and 8th in Chelsea, New York City is somewhere around $47.00 a night... I know I'm not comparing apples to apples here, but, seriously?!? Long story short, don't eat here, don't park here and you'll have a very nice time.

Yelp
One of the newest and nicest Westin Hotels in Europe. They upgraded us to the Horizon suite and it was outstanding...SPG platinum status has its perks. The hotel staff was among the best I've experienced anywhere in the world, going out of their way to assist. The only issue I experienced was the SPG clubhouse was lacking in terms of offerings...perhaps the worst I've experienced at any Westin.
