The Westin Leipzig (Leipzig, Saxony) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"From the outside it’s not immediately clear what caliber of hotel this is, especially in a city with as much distinctive architecture as Leipzig has. But give it a chance. Behind that ’70s exterior is a very modern, very sleek luxury hotel — though the Westin isn’t located in the old town, this is still the Leipzig of Wagner, Bach or Mendelssohn, not the industrial Leipzig of the GDR days." - Tablet Hotels

The Westin Leipzig is perfectly located at the heart of Leipzig. Within 5-10 min you will reach Leipzig Central train station, city center, and even the famous Leipzig Zoo. Many things awaited us and we couldn't manage to see it all. Anyways, the hotel has an adjecent carpark which is Euro 25/24hrs. Check-in was quick and efficient. Breakfast charges if not part of your room packages are rather on the higher side.|Due to our status with IHG we were invited for snacks and drinks at the lobby bar, however it took a very long time till food and drinks were served. Surprising for a 5-star hotel. A number of amenities were only available upon request and even the fridge needed to be requested, another first time for a 5-star hotel! Breakfast was pretty crowded and no life cooking stations too. Selection was good though. Staff attentive.

I’m old and tired, so is the hotel. ||Rooms, way too hot, whatever air conditioning they have is basically a volume control for the fans. It gets louder, it gets quieter, the temperature remains just the wrong side of too damned hot. ||The breakfast….. dining room messy, hot food was cold. There are legal limits to the temperature you are allowed to serve hot food, based on accepted health and safety standards, and this was way below that. I took one mouthful and left, just not worth the risk. ||Finally, there needs to be a Geneva convention on housekeeping practices. As far as I’m concerned, while breakfast service is still on, the rooms should be left well alone. I object strongly to being woken up at 8am by people trying to vacuum my room.|Yes, there are do not disturb signs available, but when you are getting up at 9:30, two hours before checkout, you don’t expect to need to use them. |They even have a list of which rooms have already checked out, so if they absolutely have to start early, use the list! ||Ultimately I had a bad nights sleep, was woken up by a maniac with a hoover and presented with cold food in a messy dining room. If that’s your thing, this might be the place for you.

This hotel is very reasonably priced and in a great location, very close to the central market area and an amazing zoo - highly recommend anyone dedicate a full day to exploring this. The hotel itself needs quite some work. The rooms are dated, but this can be overlooked if the service and other amenities are up to scratch. Unfortunately, at this hotel they are not. When travelling to Westins and other similar Marriott chains, we really value the lounge as a place to recharge, work a bit, and enjoy some small bites in between meals. Upon check in we were told this hotel did not have any lounge for Marriott Elite members. Once again, if this was the only inconvenience it could perhaps be overlooked. Unfortunately, it was not. To call the rooms spartan in their amenities would be a gross understatement. Even in the larger rooms there is no mini bar or fridge, and the TV is barely larger than a work monitor. The lack of a fridge may not have been such an obstacle, if there was an ice machine on the floor and if requesting a bucket of ice to the room did not attract an eyewatering €10 service charge. We were originally incorrectly given a twin single bed room, despite booking a king sized bed, but even when given the correct king room the bed is still made up with two separate single sheet sets. An impractical and unwelcome configuration for any couple with even an ounce of romance left in their lives. The next warning sign came on our first morning in the hotel, where after enjoying a leisurely breakfast and getting ready, we made our way out of the hotel and politely asked for housekeeping at the front desk. We knew we were in for trouble when the front desk responded by asking “what exactly do you need done?”. We did not need anything specific, we just requested a standard housekeeping - new towels, make the beds, empty the bins etc. We then left the hotel for 9 hours (once again, highly recommend the zoo) only to return to find a room that STILL had not been made up. Upon returning to the front desk, we were met once again with perplexed staff asking us to list out all the duties that their cleaning staff should be doing. Eventually we returned to a room that had been clearly been made in a rush, with not a single apology or explanation for the delay. We were partially drawn to Leipzig as a destination on our broader European trip, due to the chance to stay at a storied Westin location for such a reasonable price - due to many a pleasant experience at other locations in our travels around the world. Unfortunately the Western Leipzig has broken our chain of good luck with the franchise and would strongly recommend against others visiting this location, expecting to find the world class experience normally associated with the Westin brand.

Disappointing for a Westin. Only two persons working the checkin desk at 1800 and no one working at the Bonvoy elite desk. Finally a third person came but then there were three different random lines. It took over thirty minutes for the nine people in front of me to get checked in, and there was no expeditious handling for elite members. The room was comfortable but basic and lacked a refrigerator. The thermostat did not seem to actually do anything. There is no executive lounge, however there is at the Marriott inside the city ring. Breakfast was good but some of the staff were very rude (although the lady bringing us coffee was wonderful). The fitness center was too small & busy to use and I instead opted to go to a gym nearby where I could actually conduct a proper workout. The sauna was inoperative but the hotel still had the audacity to charge €10 to access the pool area. Unfortunately the hotel offers one of the nicest views of Leipzig, but their lack of amenities and attempts to squeeze every last cent out of their guests makes it an uncomfortable stay. As a Platinum who’s stayed at the Leipzig Marriott numerous times, I would highly recommend skipping the Westin.

Beautiful hotel. A bit outdated but the staff is quite friendly and helpful. Its location is very good. Close to the central station but you don’t really notice it. The swimming pool and sauna cost 10€ extra per person per day which is unfortunate. But therefore almost no one uses it. The gym is fine, 24/7 open and in the room price included. The bar ‘Falco’ on the 27th floor looks nice although we didn’t enter. It costs 5€ extra just to get in! But the most lovely thing is the incredible view!

I was at your hotel on the 11th of July, and I was very happy with the service. Especially from Herr Barth ( I think that is his name. Blond guy with a pony tail) He was very thorough and accommodating.

I am currently staying in an executive suite for several day. Check in was really not very helpful even with my membership level, when I asked for the executive lounges they say that there is no executive lounge, then they told me that I could have a drink down at the bar between 5 and 7pm with some snack, just after that they told me that is not more available.|When I arrived in the executive suite the balcony was dirty and not cleaned I had to ask for cleaning it. An our later I went to reception and want to ask where the breakfast was because they didn’t told me where it was when I checked in. So I was waiting at the check-in desk for the members but they didn’t want to come to me because she was staying at an other counter and didn’t want to move. may because I was not speaking German, that could be the reason.||Thi s is one of the worth Marriott hotels that I have ever stayed. ||At the end I didn’t receive any excuses or a drink to excuse them.||NOT an Bonvoy hotel to stay

I stayed at a hotel in Leipzig and was really impressed by how clean and well-maintained everything was. The rooms were comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it made for a very pleasant and relaxing stay.”

Yelp
Nice hotel located by a "city Center", which means tons of stuff to do nearby. Restaurants, shopping etc. The train station was also right across the street which made it super convenient. The hotel it was nice and pretty standard with most Westins. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the beds were comfortable as well. The breakfast was very good here. Large selection of hot food, deli items, fruit, cereal etc.

Yelp
I was staying in Merseburg at the Radisson Blu during a week-long business trip at Leuna. The original plan was Gayle to arrive (from Paris) on Thursday night, and that we'd stay at the hotel until taking a cab to Leipzig on Saturday morning, We'd then take the train to Prague. However, my host convinced me that staying at the Westin in Leipzig and taking a little time on Friday to explore the City would be an excellent alternative. I was easily able to take one night off the Radisson reservation and add a night at the Westin. The only "complication" was that the standard Company room was sold out and that I'd need to spend a few more Euro for an upgrade. The new total was still well within Company guidelines, but a bit higher usual. The travel agent also advised that I could check in at the front desk to see if the Company rate had become available. I started to do that when Gayle and I arrived at the Westin Leipzig. After feeling a couple swift kicks, I decided to abandon that line of inquiry. Or as Gayle later remarked: Why would you turn down an upgrade? And that's one difference between an economy husband and his first-class wife. We ended up getting an upgrade to the upgrade, at no extra charge. The room was fabulous and in Gayle's mind one of her best stays ever. The room was spacious, accented by white leather furniture, comfy chairs, a great bed and a complimentary bottle of wine. The view was panoramic and facing away for city centre. It was one of those rooms that you really didn't want to leave, regardless of city sights that were waiting. The next morning, an enormous breakfast buffet was available and included with the room. And since the train station was literally across the street, it was an easy walk to our next destination. If I'm lucky to pass this way again, I'll make it a point to stay at the Westin Leipzig. It was that memorable of an experience.

Yelp
Hotel was good. My room was decent size, bed wasn't like Westin heavenly. Flat square pillows were awkward and hard to sleep. I didn't think the service was that great. I wasn't expecting due to its location but I had a slight hope for being Westin hotel. Unfortunately my hope ended in just hope. One good thing about this hotel was breakfast. I really enjoyed wide variety of food especially real honeycomb. Don't see one of those often.

Yelp
A beautifully appointed hotel with good food and a competent staff. The room was relatively small, the beds uncomfortable. We gave up on controlling the room temperature with the thermostat and opened the window. (I was surprised that I could do that, given that we were on the 17th. floor.) The temperature of the water fluctuated in the shower. The bathroom was tiny. The room was clean.

Yelp
Price gouging. It said on the booking site that the wifi is free. Yet when we got to our room we found a card saying how you can pay for the internet. The pool is COLD. standard temperature for comfort swimming is between 26-30 Celsius. Theirs is set at 24 which is even below competitive swimming pools. We booked this hotel so we could lounge at the pool for a few days and wait out New Years. We couldn't spend more than a couple of minute in the pool and nor could anyone else who was at the poolside. When we asked at the front desk if they could raise the temperature to a comfortable level they said that they cannot because their costs will go up. Meanwhile, they're charging 5 euros per person to get into the pool!! If we had known this beforehand, we would not have booked at this hotel.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience here. First, they charge 15€ extra for breakfast, 5€ extra to use the pool, and my room was located under the restaurant, so it sounded like a bowling alley above me until midnight and then resumed at 0600. I complained and barely got an apology. Still had to pay full price for everything. The water pressure was terrible. The bed was as hard as the floor and the pillow consisted of a thin layer of cloth. I haven't slept so terrible since I don't know when. Never ever will I go back there.

Yelp
OK, this is what I had to say about the Westin the first time I stayed there: "The Westin Leipzig is a shiny-new-looking hotel. It's not at all 'hip', and obviously caters to business conference travellers. The rooms were clean, fresh and had all the amenities one would expect from a higher-end chain hotel. Very nice views out over the city. Location is central, but there are several large hotels in Leipzig closer to the train station. Notable is that the Westin is the only hotel in Leipzig to have a swimming pool. It's not the most amazing pool ever, and the decor (blonde wood slats in a 70-s style modernist design) is an odd choice, but it's clean, and it's nice to be able to go for a swim in the morning. The lobby is designed to be stylishly impressive. Restaurant and bar are on balconies over the lobby - businessmen singing karaoke at the piano bar were good for a laugh on our way back to our room." This time, I'm downgrading it one star, because at 149 Euro per night, they really ought to have toilet paper that doesn't injure your butt. "Soft" and "absorbent" are adjectives that one ought to be able to apply. In this case, they were not applicable.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, staff is overall friendly but beds are not as "heavenly" as in most Weston hotels, no teapot in the room and air conditioning does not get cold...cooler but not cold, makes this no more than a 3 star hotel in my opinion. Breakfast assortment is plentiful.

Yelp
The hotel itself is decent. The location is great, right next to Hauptbahnhof, Zoologischer Garten and Zentrum. The staff is friendly and helpful. What I found absolutely infuriating was how they nickel and dime you to death. Entry to the pool is €5.00. That would be fine but the water is freezing at 24°C and their concern is the heating cost!! And unless you have deep pockets and low expectations eat anywhere else. The toilet paper is really rough and hurts. The rooms are tiny but the view is very nice however that only applies if you are high up. The bed is rather uncomfortable and pillows are worse.

Yelp
A super hotel! Excellent service, clean rooms and good food. A large swimming pool and sauna area. If you want to spend higher prices, this is certainly a good hotel and gives value for money. Very handy to walk into the city or central train station from. Low budget travelllers wiill enjoy the very close-by Holiday Inn Express. Leipzig has a great many things to see and many wonderful places to eat. Well worth an extended visit.

Yelp
We stayed in the Westin for 3 nights in April 2011. The room was very clean and the view from it over Leipzig was wonderful! The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the central station and the city centre is also reachable on foot. At check out were were accidently charged 30 euros too much but this was instantly sorted out and the receptionists we very apologetic. They even sent us a letter through the post to confirm that the bill was now settled.
