Stayed here in February. This trip was a birthday gift to my mom. After looking at other nearby Marriott locations, I settled upon the Westin because of the proximity to the arena, Beale st, as well as other historical places. When I checked in, the young lady only offered points as my welcoming gift. I stated I wanted breakfast instead. She replied I could not get both. Ma'am, you did not give me a choice. (1). After getting my keys and vouchers, I asked if there was anyone available to help with my bags. She said no. I was quite surprised that service wasn't offered. I started unloading luggage for 4 people. The. a young man appears. He ask if I bed help. I told him the woman at the front desk said there wasn't any bell hop to help with my things. He said I am the bell hop. (2). He said he was doing that and valet. As I am unloading my mom calls me to say there's an empty Pringles container on the table and a nuts bag as well. (3). I went upstairs, besides that, everything else looked in place. I just drove 19 hours. I did not have the energy to switch rooms. However, I told the young lady, in person, as I was still gathering items from our vehicle and had to go back downstairs. I told her I would do an inventory to make sure everything was in order with the snack and mini bar list when I go back to the room.. Well, after about 45 minute to an hour later, I went back to the lobby. I've completed the work and went to tell her, the same lady, about something else missing. She acted like we never had a conversation. (4) I ended up asking for a supervisor to explain everything to which I was looked at with what appeared to be skepticism until I pulled out my camera to show the footage of me conducting the survey. I told him to check to time on the video and match with the time items were moved around check in.
Oh my, there's so much more. Though it's months later, I did not have the energy to follow up with Marriott or review this experience, but I do have notes from that time. I'm stopping here.
I had 2 rooms booked, but canceled to second room the following day, which was when to reservation started. I refused to give them anymore business.
However, while I will spare you of the other 4 incidents, I must warn you about the contracted worker entering my room without cause. There was a lady from the same company, identified by uniform top, cleaning the room across the hall. I know because I wanted more towels and looked to see if housekeeping was nearby. Well, as we sat in the living room. The door entering the room opened. There was no knock at all. I called out hello because from where I was sitting, I could not see that door. Then the door closed. I got up went to the door, opened it and there's a male present with the same uniform the lady who was cleaning across the hall wore. I asked what he wanted, but he acted as if he was confused and didn't understand. The lady said something in another language to him. He said "nothing" and he moved as if he was lost. Let me tell you something. That night, as I was going out with my mom, I discovered I was missing a couple of things from my overcoat's pocket which hung in the hall since the first evening. I have no proof, but this was not a good thing to happen prior to me finding my items disappeared. We usually were out by that time of day, but just so happen, we were behind schedule.
2 stars for location, space of suite, amenities in bathroom, comfortable bedding, and the 1 person who gave me the overseeing manager's information, or so I think. I can't believe this is still a draining subject for me months later. I hardly ever write a review before contacting the company, but this is needed regardless, especially when there's so much more to highlight.
