The Westin Paris - Vendôme

I recently stayed at the Paris Vendome Hotel and was thoroughly disappointed. As a corporate traveler with a certain level of brand loyalty status, I found this hotel to be well below the standard expected from the Westin brand and Marriott Bonvoy benchmark. Even considering Westin as a mid-range brand, this property falls significantly short. The hotel is dated, and the staff was unhelpful and inattentive to guests' needs. There was a persistent moldy smell throughout the property, and parts of the hotel were affected by flooding. To make matters worse, I left behind an item that I am certain was left in my room, yet it was “not found” when I checked back a mere hours after checkout. The fault being mine two-fold: leaving an item behind, and believing this staff would have any incentive to retrieve it. ||The only redeeming quality of this hotel is its central and convenient location. However, given the plethora of much better options nearby, I strongly advise against staying here. This experience fell well short of expectations and experiences at Marriott Bonvoy properties elsewhere in the world. Marriott should seriously consider dropping this hotel from their portfolio. Save yourself the trouble and choose another hotel in the area.

We really enjoyed our visit at this hotel. The location was wonderful. We were able to walk to the Eiffel Tower and many other places in France. Our room was clean and comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom shower/bathtub was hard to get in and out of because of height.

Nice hotel in a great location. Highly recommended getting a room with a view of the garden and Eiffel Tower. Breakfast is nice with the option for fresh made eggs. In the morning there is a fresh coffee machine for a pick-me-up. In the lobby area is a nice courtyard restaurant that has good food and fancy drinks. Staff has been nice and the hotel is reasonably quiet from outside traffic. The nearest metro is about 3 min away. Sitting across from the park, there are 3 of your Paris must see sights within a 15 to 20 min walk.

We stayed at the Westin for a week in May-2024 for a trip. The location of the hotel is fantastic - within walking distance to so many Paris highlights. The preparation for the Olympics was in full swing so lots of the monuments were blocked off or had scaffolding around them. Location, Water pressure, comfortable bed, and the staff is where the ‘Pro’s’ stop and the ‘Con’s’ start. ||We have stayed in major European cities many times so we have some idea of what to expect. The hotel rooms remind me of dark and dreary dorm rooms. The rooms are small and there is limited room to put your luggage, minimal charging ports in the sleeping area, no outlet in the bathroom, no full length mirror and only one person can fit on the bathroom at a time. The view was of the interior courtyard roof, so no view, unless you like that. To get into the shower you have to step up about 1.5 feet(.5 meters) (water pressure was great!) so be careful if you have limited mobility. ||Every 1.5 minutes there is a rythmic thumping sound that goes on for 6 seconds (I literally counted because it was so annoying) and you can hear upstairs moving around and anyone walking in the hallway. ||There is no hotel store to get snacks or the like but the front desk is great with offering a bottle of water. The doormen are great to get you a taxi and the bar staff is excellent. ||In conclusion, I would stay here again if someone else is paying. If you are used to Westin properties elsewhere, this is not that, look elsewhere. Else, this hotel is simply OKAY.

This used to be a good place. Now I would give it a zero if I could. The room is tiny with one window the size of a pea. The beds appear to be roller beds. And - they charged my credit card twice - once when I prepaid and again when I checked in. Instead of enjoying Paris, I’ve spent hours trying to get them to fix the bill. Atrocious.

Lovely hotel in a nice area of Paris. Spacious rooms by Paris standards. Very comfortable beds; clean bathrooms. Fabulous breakfast buffet. Within walking distance of many Paris attractions: The Seine River, The Louvre, Champ-Elysees, Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame.

The star is for the comfortable bed and great location. The room was dusty as was the bathroom. The staff were not friendly apart from a lovely girl from the Netherlands on the front desk. One complimentary cup of tea per day per room!’ And I found out to get this amazing offer you had to ask for a fresh cup of tea as our cup arrived with teabags, no water no milk. I was supposed to ask for a kettle. I don’t see the need for the usual reply apologising for the experience not meeting our expectations. Please look elsewhere when going to Paris.

I have such fond memories of staying at this hotel almost a decade ago. My latest trip suggests that it is time for the hotel to be upgraded. The rooms are spacious, particularly by European standards. However, the furnishings and decor are tired and dated. The bathrooms are dingy and in need of upgrading. We weren’t able to check-in until 6pm, despite having Bonvoy status. The staff were generous in offering us a welcome drink as compensation, but the logistics felt clunky. That said, the hotel offered excellent value for a prime location in Paris’ premier shopping district and proximity to the Louvre. Surprisingly, there is no spa at this hotel.
