"After a festive meal, I retreat to the historic hotel for the Home Alone Experience, a playful seasonal package with suite accommodations, an enormous ice cream sundae delivered to the room, a two-hour limo ride through downtown—pizza in hand, of course—and a shopping spree at local toy shop O.P. We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay during the holidays in Greenville, SC, especially our stay at The Westin Poinsett. A well-located, beautiful older hotel with excellent service--from the greeting by the valet, to the front desk staff, as well as the hostess and servers in their Spoonbread Restaurant. You can tell there is a focus on excellence from the top down, even during the peak of holiday season. We particularly enjoyed relaxing with a beverage in the lobby lounge and people-watching, in front of the huge and gorgeous Christmas tree. Also, the complimentary Italian cookies were an unexpected touch! Room service was great and a surprise birthday dessert and serenade by John B. rounded out a wonderful stay. We will be back 💯

Gorgeous hotel with very friendly staff. Loved ask the Christmas decor over the holiday season. Very reasonable prices at the restaurant and bar. Rooms were very clean and felt clean. Nice fresh crisp sheets. Comfortable bed. Location is very safe and near many restaurants.

My daughter and I did the Home Alone Experience and it did not disappoint. Everything was well planned. Everyone was so helpful and Savannah sent all the details outlining everything so we knew exactly where to be and when. The room was so cozy with a Christmas tree as well. We needed help on the dvd player and someone was sent up immediately. He was so nice and helpful. The hotel is on Main St so we were able to walk to a bunch of stores & restaurants. We would definitely love to go back.

Kids said, "BEST Christmas Ever!!" Savannah was so wonderful and easy to work with creating a tradition that we will have to repeat year after year! Kids loved the unique limo ride with pizza, snacks, and drinks provided! The OP Taylors gift card was a fun side quest and the ice cream sundae was delicious!! Top notch service at the hotel and a perfect location for Downtown Christmas activities! We were given a high corner room and the kids loved watching the Downtown Christmas scenes below! Highly recommend!

I stayed at the hotel weekly from May of 2025 through early December of 2025 while engaged with a client in the area. I enjoyed a great experience and especially want to thank some members of the staff for wonderful service during my stay. I would like to recognize Jeff in sales, Waldo and John in the lobby bar and restaurant and Cindy in the restaurant in the mornings. Each of these individuals helped make an extended stay a nice experience. Their service is exceptional and each of these individuals helped to make a weekly trip a warm and welcoming experience.||Thank you to the Westin Poinsett and a wonderful staff.

Mary was a great resource for our daughter’s bridal shower afternoon tea. We needed to have the tea on the Saturday after thanksgiving, due to travel plans. They generally do not schedule their “teas” on the weekend of the holiday. Mary reached out to the chef and they agreed to host our tea. The table was set beautifully. Their staff were kind and helpful . The food was delicious. We would recommend them for any special occasion or breakfast/lunch anytime!!

Location is top notch, especially during christmas time when Greenville turns into Christmas town. Rooms are clean, bed is comfortable , service is good. Cookies were a nice treat too. I loved that i got to explore Greenville by foot as its walking distance. Recommend to go during Christmas time to see the beautiful decorations.

Google
We were there to see a concert. The Soluna Quartet, they were amazing!! Never seen anything like it before. We were celebrating our 21 yr Anniversary. It was a fabulous experience. We were in the Gold room, we didn't stay in a room or eat there. What staff we did encounter were so polite and helpful. It's a beautiful building. We will definitely do an event like this again.

Yelp
I stayed here recently for work in the area. Checking in went well, the lady was helpful. The room she gave me was nice, everything was functional, but the bathroom was poorly designed and the whole room in from the previous "generation" of hotel room, so an update is needed.. hopefully in the next couple of years. The property was very impressively decorated for Christmas!! I loved how the large, two story Christmas Tree was in the main lobby and extended to the mezzanine level and they decorated it so very nicely! I also noticed the garland inside and wreaths outside. The whole property was nicely kept up to shape as well, so regardless of seasonal décor, I'm sure it's a beautiful place any time of year! This property has a restaurant onsite, Spoon Bread is what it's called. They also have the Piano Lounge. The Piano Lounge has a bar, which is a nice (and clearly popular) place to hang out and meet prior to leaving the property for dinner. Also a nice place to gather for that after dinner night cap with co-workers. Sleep quality was decent. HVAC in the room was nice and quiet... the worst part of the room was the bathroom, which I hated because you can't open the door and use the shower, because the door opens into the tub. They need to replace the door with barn style or pocket doors, like other properties have. Only other issue was the valet. I tipped a dollar on one drop off one day and the valet gave it back. I've never had that happen before. So, a dollar isn't enough and you prefer nothing at all? Noted! Overall, the stay was nice, but next time I'm in town, I'll try the AC across the street - It's looked way more festive outside and it's worth a try.

Yelp
I recently stayed here for four nights while in Greenville. I was blown away by everything. From the moment I pulled up and was greeted by the valet who bought my luggage to my room. The front was awesome, friendly. The room was gorgeous, the bed so comfortable. I can't speak highly enough of this downtown location. You can walk to just about everything, shops, restaurants. Downtown is full of history. This historic hotel is a must when in Greenville. It is top notch with a excellent staff.

Yelp
I had a very short stay here for work -- just one night -- but it was my favorite of the stays I had in my work travel. It's such a beautiful historic hotel, and I had a corner room. The Westin Heavenly bed is exactly as billed! I mistakenly left something important to me in my room, realizing it after checkout, and when I called Lawanda M. was reassuring, telling me she had my item, and she would work with me to get it sent back to me. I was so grateful to get my item back! Thanks, Lawanda. The hotel location is fabulous, too, a short distance to the beautiful walking trails around downtown and close to the Peace Center and great bars and restaurants.

Yelp
This is such a delightful place. Perfect location, right in the center of town, close to everything. The hotel is older, but well maintained. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff are polite and welcoming. The rooms are of a reasonable size, neither small, nor large. There is a desk and a winged chair. The furniture is of an older design, which adds to the theme of the hotel. The breakfast here is very nice. It's a simple buffet, but has all that you need. The restaurant is classy. Valet parking is $20 a day, and the Vallette staff are my favorite people here. I love the elderly gentleman who I always get to chat with. This is definitely a wonderful place to stay in the heart of Greenville

Yelp
The history here is awesome. This hotel has a great story to tell. Staff was all kind and helpful. For an old hotel, the room felt clean and updated. We were not upgraded for status. The elevators (lack of ramps) can be a bit challenging for a stroller etc as you have to take one from front door to lobby and then a different one on up.

Yelp
We decided to try this property after a food tour took us to the restaurant on our last visit. The lobby is nice - complete with furniture, bar, and piano player during certain hours. There were also complementary cookies at check in! The hallway leading to our room was super warm and stuffy, but the temp in our room was perfectly controlled. We were in a basic King room. Pillows were nice and fluffy and the bed was comfortable. Valet will also bring up luggage. Bathroom was dated, however I do appreciate the effort of modern shower heads for ease but the water pressure was lacking and the towels were crunchy. We did not order room service but I peeked at the menu and it was reasonably priced. It's a solid location with easy access to all the things downtown. We glad we tried it out-but it wouldn't work for our family if we were staying more than one night.
google avatar

Yelp
What an enjoyable and fun experience staying here. It's in a fantastic location with a quick walk to Reedy River. Lots of things to do in the city. I am glad I had the opportunity to stay here and would certainly recommend it!!

Yelp
This review is limited to Thanksgiving Brunch, 2025. Had a 2:30 reservation, arrived 2:25. Checked in and waited. . . for 45 minutes! At around the 30 minute-mark, I asked the hostess, "is it normal for guests to wait this long after their reservation-time for a holiday brunch?" Her response was "yeah it happens." There was no "sorry for the inconvenience", no "I'll see how your table is coming", no "things are running slower than usual this year." There was zero pretense that she cared. We were eventually seated and the food was good, but waiting in the buffet line made it cold. A two-sided buffet reduced to one-sided at the carvers. The problem was not the carvers! They were keeping up. The problem was the one-sided station that followed. Simple to solve, keep it two-sided next year. We found everyone other than the hostess to be sweet and friendly, and we appreciated everyone who worked that day so we didn't have to cook.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful and stunning hotel. They have live piano music daily in the lobby. Great way to unwind after work, or enjoy while here on vaca which is what I did. I had drinks and dinner there as well. It was a whole vibe. Grown and sexy. No screaming kids running around everywhere lol. The bartender and wait staff were amazing. High recommend.

Yelp
Awesome place, great service and the staff were helpful and pleasant to work with. Stephen, one of the valet staff was the best of all. He gave us recommendations for shopping and dinner and even used the golf cart to take us to dinner. Super friendly!

Yelp
This is a tough one because it's a historic building, meaning there are limitations. That said, this isn't really a Westin quality property. Rooms - clean, just ok otherwise. Things are pretty dated, a little musty. Food - i ate a lot of catering during my conference, and it was just ok for the most part. Location - great! Right in the middle of downtown and close to tons of restaurants and stores. Staff - outstanding. Everyone I interacted with was great. It's not awful, but I'd probably pick someplace else next time.

Yelp
If I hadn't been locked out of my room as the battery pack for the door lock died, then this would have been a good stay. Prior to this stay, I didn't even know the doors had battery packs as I never thought about it. But I've learned a lot about them since. Two weeks before they die they give a low warning signal so someone missed that. At checkout, I was told I should have noticed it. How would I know the signal if I didn't know about the battery to begin with? Then it isn't my job to maintain the hotel. I've also learned that other hotels replace the battery packs every 3 months so this just shouldn't have happened. When I couldn't get in my room with either key, I thought my keys had been deactivated so I went down to the lobby and waited for someone at the front desk. When I got to the room again those keys didn't work either. Maintenance came fairly quickly after my second set of keys didn't work. His master key did not work either. The next step was him going to get the charger for the door but that didn't work either. So the next step was him going to get new battery pack that had to be replaced by removing the face plate from the door. The maintenance worker even said that this shouldn't have happened. I was told management would be contacting me and asked to leave my number. But I haven't been contacted by anyone and never received even an apology. I will not return to the Westin Poinsett after being locked out of my room and how it was handled. I expect more from a Four Diamond Award winning hotel. As of 2/9/23 I have yet to hear from management when I was promised a call on the 29th of January or have my account credited for the nights I stayed, 11 days after I checked out.

Yelp
As much as I appreciate animal lovers, I do not appreciate living around/near your pets. Pet free is fine, just let me know what floor is pet free and which is not, because you don't want my medical bills from being exposed to pet dander, hair etc because someone needed to bring their animal with them to our hotel. During checkout, it's always a great idea to ask how the stay was, because I had feedback but nobody cared at checkout. It's 2024. Is Marriott really financially dependent on room phone call revenue? You charge for local and toll free calls! Really? Hilton is slated to be my go to for hotel accommodations in the future!

Yelp
Older possibly historic location in the center of the activity of downtown Greenville. Park your car and the rest can be done on foot or pedicab. Well maintained and clean hotel. A luxury feel. Staff was friendly and prices were reasonable. Highly recommend.

Yelp
It has been a very long time since I have been surprised by service, accommodations and value. The Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, SC has it all. This hotel recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary. It was brought back from near demolition in the late 90's. My wife and I loved the character they kept and the modern conveniences they added. The valet team, front desk and hospitality team were all incredibly nice and professional. The front desk said to let them know if we needed anything. My wife developed a blister on our walk so I asked for a bandaid. She quickly retrieved one with a smile. As we were walking out the front door the valet team asked if we needed a walking map of downtown Greenville. They anticipate your needs. The location of this hotel is perfect. You are right in the middle of the downtown of this wonderful little city. My wife and I are even thinking of moving to this beautiful place after our short visit.

Yelp
Historic and conveniently located hotel with great service, but dated and small rooms, particularly the bathrooms, which are tiny. If you want charming and quaint and are willing to pay a bit of a premium for it, this Westin may be for you. For others, especially families, there are plenty of much newer hotels by the major chains in downtown Greenville that would probably be much better suited for you. For Marriott platinum elites or higher, you receive a choice of extra points or breakfast. Unless you have breakfast plans elsewhere, the breakfast benefit is the clear best choice and is one of the more generous domestic breakfast benefits I've seen - the voucher includes a choice of any entree at the attached Spoonbread restaurant (including a buffet option) and coffee and juice if desired. Tax and gratuity are included with this option. Parking is valet ($20 per day at the moment) or you can self-park in a parking garage nearby for $7 a day, though this does not include in and out privileges. During my stay, the front desk had cookies available for the taking in the evenings. The fitness room has several Pelotons, if you're into that. This hotel is popular for events, so it's not unusual to see a wedding or other event being hosted, which can lead to lines for the elevators, especially as there are no stairs to access the rooms with. Overall, it's a beautiful hotel, but personally I would probably go with another hotel during future visits as there are plenty of cheaper hotels that are better suited for me.

Yelp
MALENA THE ***** In the midst of the aftermath of Hurricane Helena and a power outage in Greenville, SC, I made a reservation through Expedia for The Westin. The policy stated that you must call 3pm the day before your check in date to cancel your reservation. I called the hotel and was informed to call Expedia which I did. Malena is an employee of The Western was unprofessional, inconsiderate, and racist during the conversation telling me that I did not call in time. Although Expedia called and stated that I did call before the deadline, she stated that she did not care, what a bitch. Unfortunately, people are being exploited by individual like Malena, who are about greed and capitalism while people are trying to recover from Hurricane Helena. I would not refer an enemy to stay her, because Malena does not give a damn about anyone.
google avatar

Ngelah A.

Yelp
Valet and Check in were smooth and polite. Concierge after a coldish reception leaving off small details (like make a reservation) that has the service as basic. The bedding was heavenly and room was small but acceptable due to the age of the building.
google avatar

Mary J.

Yelp
Great historical hotel centrally located. Staff was great. Only negative, the food was not very good outside of breakfast. Bland and way toooo salty!
google avatar

Carol C.

Yelp
This landmark grand old hotel is set in the perfect location on S. Main Street in downtown Greenville! It is a Marriot property and like all their hotels has professional, courteous and friendly staff. There is daily valet ($20/day) or an attached garage (CC only) for $7/day along with exit fees of $2/day if you come and go. The access to highways is very efficient as well. Rooms are dated in decor but in good repair. The beds are very comfortable and there are four pillow options offered on each bed! The bathrooms feature good rain shower heads but still have the dreaded plastic curtain to close off the tub when showering. Lighting, towels and counter space are excellent. The bathroom fan didn't work but I prefer that to an automatic fan that turns on when you flick the light switch to "on". The staff at the front desk are welcoming and willing to accommodate special requests. The lobby bar lounge is laid back with good cocktail service and often a piano player. The furniture however is very old and worn. No holes, or stains but just OLD! The Spoonbread restaurant has a great variety on their breakfast menu along with a buffet on Sunday. I found my breakfast to be perfectly cooked as I requested (poached eggs, English muffin and fresh fruit). My friend quiche was inedible as it was not cooked properly. Our server offered her something else instead in order to rectify it but she declined. We were still charged for the meal but that doesn't matter to me as I was paying. She could've had something in place of it. The location is SO IDEAL if you want to access both North Main stores and shops or the variety of the Westend restaurants and shops. Falls Park is just a few minutes walk to the West and the Joe Jackson Museum and Fleur Field ball park are a mile walk to the west. I found this location to be perfect!! One more thing, for an old hotel the elevators are remarkably fast! Also, the hotel gym is more than adequate and very well maintained with excellent equipment. I would stay here again!

Yelp
Wow! Huge disappointment. We've stayed there approximately 6 times before since my husband has business in Greenville every year. Some years the property was not as good as others, but this year it was just plain awful. First thing I do after checking in any hotel is to make sure the sheets are clean. (I know, freaky but you won't believe how many times they are not. I'm talking upper Marriott hotel brands, not flea bag places). The white duvet had clearly been slept on because of the wrinkles and it had "brown matter" ??? in 2 separate places. Called the front desk and they came up to see it, apologize profusely, and change our room. Later that evening after getting in bed I noticed 2 "white" stains on the brown blanket on the bed. Called down again and had them bring up a clean brown blanket. Honestly, we would have just left and gone to another Marriott in town but it was such a busy weekend with the Christmas Parade that it would been nearly impossible. So we just stayed. Then, there is the "free" breakfast that is included. Whether you order from the menu or get the buffet, the food is stone cold. The coffee urns are always empty and there is no cream for the coffee. There are typically 2 waiters working the entire restaurant while there are a couple of other employees staring at the buffet. The first few times we went to this hotel, it was not like this at all and we kept hoping that it would return to its former glory. We are done. Done. Done.

Elija H.

Yelp
stayed at this hotel or a weekend getaway and loved it. The rooms were clean and comfy, the staff was super accommodating and the location is good for exploring this city Id definitely stay again!

Yelp
I would like to thank the people at the Westin. After I lost my car in downtown Greenville today the woman at the Front Desk was able to help me by calling Parking Services. Also they allowed me to stay out of the cold which was amazing considering I only had a T-shirt and it was January. If they treat people who walk off the street looking for their cars this well I can only imagine how they treat their guests.
google avatar

Diamond W.

Yelp
I wanted to visit the Westin because almost every review raved it was a luxury experience- that was not my case. I was happy to be on the 7th floor with a beautiful corner view but I was put by the stairway exit. The constant traffic/slamming of the door was an instant downer because it was so loud. Looking back, I should have asked for another room. The room looked outdated but I'm assuming it's to keep the historical feel? Cleanliness was okay. The coffee pot in my room was dirty and the sheets smelled like most hotels- a tad musty. I expected better for the price I paid. I think dining in/room service completely ruined my experience. There was no microwave so I didn't want to have food delivered/take to go but I didn't mind at first because I anticipated eating at the Spoonbread. I was let down! I tried multiple things but was disappointed each time- excluding the yummy cheesecake. I wanted to dine at the restaurant instead of just ordering room service but the first and only time I went, as soon as my food arrived, the server gave me my receipt. She did not do that to other guest. I felt rushed and unwelcome. That was the only uncomfortable experience with staff. I hate that this is my experience, I thought about contacting the manager but I'm sure there's nothing they could do.

Amy B.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with wonderful Christmas atmosphere. We stayed in room 208 with a view of the courtyard and the beautiful Christmas tree.

Yelp
5 stars isn't enough for this place!!! I wish I had taken pictures of the room beds I laid in it!!! Talk about nice staff, comfortable bed and a shower that looked like it was from a magazine!! They had a wall dedicated to all of my the famous people who stayed before. After staying the night I understood why everyone is choosing this place. I am definitely coming back!!!!

Yelp
This hotel was okay. The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly, but the rooms are pretty small and in our bathroom the tile was cracked, the tub was scratched and dinged, and there was no soap. The biggest gripe is the wedding that was held. Once the music stopped there were people running around in the hallways making tons of noise into the early morning.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
This is the best, most peaceful hotel in downtown Greenville. The bed was super comfortable and we couldn't hear anyone above, below, or next to us. Our room was a good size for the price and well appointed. The bathroom was incredible with a huge lighted mirror and shower with a shower head and extension sprayer. Their bath products are top notch from the soap and shampoo to the soft towels. We had one issue with someone smoking in the room two doors down from us and the front desk promptly investigated and resolved the issue, plus treated us to free breakfast. Classy place!

Yelp
This place is a classic. Centered perfectly in town. Great service. If you don't mind a little older property with stairs like Hogwarts you'll love it.

Yelp
Lovely hotel w great service. Love the old feel of the hotel. Bed was comfortable. Noise level on the 9th floor wasn't a problem at all. Great location to everything.

Yelp
Bah. I should probably start with the good... the had my company discount, and the desk staff was nice at check in, oh and free cookies at front desk, . I feel like it's kind of pulling the rug out from under me... I am frequently in Greenville for business, and I usually stay at the Marriott, but I noticed that Starwood was a part of the fam, so . Anyway, I stayed at Aloft across from Tupelo, and that was great. When it wasn't available this time, res suggested Westin. So here we are, pulling up to a pretty busy intersection with no place to park and check in (not their fault, 2 tour buses not moving). I double park and check in (get keys actually, as I checked in online--do it, so much quicker). I digress. Minus 1 star for a personal choice. I was almost the youngest person in the lobby (I'm 45). Minus 1 star, the room was decorated by my grandmother, and pretty much smelled like it (see pictures). Minus 1 star for the bed. There was what I can only describe as a pee pad under the flat sheet (yes you are right, there was no fitted sheet). This absolutely was a huge mistake, and I dearly hope it wasn't there because it was a handy accessible room. Anyway, with that setup, it formed folds under me that made me toss and turn all night, thanks for 8 o'clock meeting (again, see pictures). Probably would have stayed that way, if it weren't for the service. It's a service job, omg. What is there to get. So, I went downstairs before work, showed the male desk clerk (08/03/2017) the pictures of the pad between my sheet and the mattress. He hadn't a clue. I said ok, that's fine. "I need you to fix it, so I can sleep, please." He asked if I was going to be in the room, and I said I wouldn't be back till at least 5, upon which he said he said he would talk to his manager and fix it. Cool! I ended up going out with work peeps till ~ 945, and upon getting back my bed wasn't made (not their fault I went "green "), but that effin pad was still sticking out. Omg, I stripped the bed, pulled the pad out, and remade my bed. I was livid, as you might read... never again. Good luck.

Yelp
Spectacular hotel. Cleanliness, service, and comfort are what you pay for. Pet friendly, and boy did they treat our puppy like she was family! (Us too! Lol) will definitely stay again. So convenient to everything. Parked at the hotel, then we walked everywhere for 3 days.

Yelp
Beautiful!!!! Absolutely stunning in an original building lift untouched kind of way. The antiques are original the lobby and lower levels take you back. The staff is top notch. The rooms are clean and spacious. The hallways are wide and clean as well. I literally can't think of one thing or staff member that I have in countered that's negative... come relax and soak it all in.

Yelp
24/7 room service, elegant lobby and very nice employees and accommodating bellmen. Old school feel very peaceful great location. Food was excellent and priced very fairly

Yelp
This is supposedly the #1 hotel in Greenville! I beg to differ! Stay at the Grand Bohemian if you want a luxury experience. My sister and I booked a double queen. Here is what we got: 1 bathrobe for 2 people, 1 water bottle for 2, 1 paper coffee cup for 2 people, 2 wine glasses with the single bottle of water for 2 people and plastic cups no different than stays years ago in Motel 6. Bathroom amenities were limited to a single occupant as well, despite the room accomodating 4. Dinner at this'4 star, 4 diamond hotel consists of sitting in the lobby bar and selecting from an extremely limited menu, but if your idea of a luxury dining experience includes Reuben's and burgers you have found your place. We left early and will never return.

Jennifer J.

Yelp
This review is based on the nighttime manager refusing to honor Marriott Bonvoy's policy of complimentary upgrades for Gold status members. Despite it being 10 pm at night when we checked in, and an upgraded room being available, we were told we would have to pay an additional $80 to receive the upgrade, which was the same pricing available to anyone on the website, regardless of Marriott status.

Yelp
A friend and I recently had a lovely High Tea experience at the hotel's Spoonbread Restaurant. This was made extra special by the staff member, Mary D., who oversaw all the arrangements (even to serving the tea herself!), and the Chef and his kitchen crew who provided a wide variety of yummy treats. As this was a birthday celebration, they even surprised my friend with a special treat and gift! Additionally, the ambience of the historic hotel and Mary's knowledgeable insights, made the experience all that more special. If you're looking for a unique, charming, and enjoyable opportunity to surprise someone special in your life.... this High Tea did the trick!

The Westin is a very classy hotel in a historic building right in the heart of Downtown Greenville. Fantastic location! Love the grand fountain out front! From check in to each time we valet parked, we were treated like rock stars. The difference between self park and valet is only $10 per day more and totally worth it! We were able to book a last minute deal for a weekend getaway on Priceline. The front desk only had a room with two beds (which was actually no big deal) but gave us a huge room on a high floor with a great view! Plus they gave me my SPG points! The room was very clean and the beds were super comfy. Really appreciated the Starbucks coffee and mini coffee pot. Short but sweet visit! Would definitely stay here again!!

Yelp
I stay at this hotel at least three times a month - why, yes... I do travel a lot for work. Everyone who works the front desk is polite, helpful and welcoming. I've never had a question or request they didn't quickly help to resolve. The same goes for the doormen downstairs, who've always helpfully scrounged up an umbrella when I've needed one or rushed to help with a door when my hands were full. Rooms are spacious and very traditional but comfortable. There are coffee machines, cozy robes and big screen TVs in all of the rooms I've stayed in. The suites are practically palatial. Rooms haven't been updated in at least 10 years, is my guess, but everything is well maintained and clean. The piano lounge in the lobby has a nice little bar and serves a limited menu until 10pm. They make a very decent old fashioned. Tonight I enjoyed the low country corn and crab chowder. It was a little on the bland side, but otherwise satisfying. It's not too rich or overwhelmingly creamy like some are. It's full of rich chunks of crab meat and fresh, slightly crunchy corn. A touch more seasoning and it would be a delight. I frequently enjoy the cesar salad topped with a salmon filet. The salmon is always without fail beautifully cooked. The cesar dressing is fresh and lightly applied. It's a solid bet and I always enjoy it. The bartenders are nice, helpful and present when needed but do not hover. The two I see most often are a chatty young man who's getting married soon (congrats!) and a woman who gives frank, solid advice about the menu and wines. The hotel would do well to recruit a younger clientele, as other reviewers have noted. The lobby and bar are frequently filled with an older crowd. It would be lovely to see more diversity of all types on future visits. I'd bet a regular Thursday night thing geared toward a younger, more creative crowd that featured their in-house pianist paired with a great local DJ and classic cocktails would be a hit.

Yelp
This place isn't atrocious or anything, but for the price point, I think many of these rapturous prior reviews might be smoking something I would love to get my hands on. Lobby is whatever, rooms are about equivalent to what you'd get at any hotel chain that charges half what this place ostensibly does. Location is good, but there are loads of other less expensive places in spitting distance. Bed not great, no service to speak of, nothing remotely special. Greenville is cute and all, but how is it considered worth $350 a night for a nothing room here?

Yelp
We just completed our 4th conference at the Westin. We cannot say enough good things about the sales team, management and staff at this hotel. Not only is it a beautiful and convenient location, but the team there helps us add the magic to each of our events. They take care of our people and they even make sure our staff eats when we get too busy. If you're looking for a 5-star meeting location, or venue for your event, you couldn't ask for a better group of people to help you. Rita, Kristin, Yveline, Dennis, Chef Curtis, Mary and especially Mike Graves -- The Uncharted Veterinary Conference team is forever grateful for all you do for us.

Yelp
Overall I was not impressed with this property, and I recommend someone from Westin corporate take a serious look at their check-in procedure. I arrived around 11:00pm on a Friday, they couldn't find my reservation. I book through Hotels.com (Expedia), and stay in hotels about 250 nights per year (you read that correctly). I ONLY use Hotels.com as I prefer to stay where I want to be as opposed to being locked into one or 2 brands. The woman checking me in tried several times to locate the reservation, went into the back office several times, and then eventually gave up. I showed her the confirmation on my phone, and giving quite an attitude she says "You told me you booked through Expedia, that says Hotels.com". I guess you're new lady, because Hotels.com IS Expedia. Her attitude is what bothered me the most. After she gave up she acted like I was an inconvenience standing around as I was trying to fix the problem. A hotel not finding a reservation has happened to me exactly twice previously....both times were the hotel's fault. So I didn't believe her, but fine, I will call Hotels.com. At this point it's 11:20pm. Thirty seconds later I'm on the phone with Hotels.com and am put on hold while he contacts the hotel. A minute later he is back, and says "I just spoke with the on-duty manager Jake, he is fixing the issue now and will come out within 10 minutes to get you checked in". Of course, because Hotels.com is awesome. 15 minutes later....no Jake. I go up to the front desk, and inquire about Jake. "He'll be right with you". 5 minutes later Jake comes out, and says "I will have to redo the reservation since it's not compatible". OK, but I want to make sure I am not charged for the room twice. "You didn't pay in advance for the room, which is why I have to charge you again". I always choose the option to pay in advance on Hotels.com, but OK maybe I made a mistake this time. I ask him for a receipt so I have some proof later on if I was in fact charged twice. "I can't give you a receipt since nothing has posted yet". HUH?!?!? If you are running my card for a transaction you need to be able to give me SOME kind of a receipt. Turns out the reservation WAS paid in advance and he just didn't want to admit to me he made a mistake. They never charged me for the room through the Westin. I finally got to the room at 11:45pm. A 45 minute check-in is NOT OK, especially at that time of night. I was 5 minutes away from walking to the Hyatt Regency down the street that's how long this process took. A few other notes: 1. The hotel is really old. Not up to Westin standards. I stayed in this room in my grandparents house. 30 years ago. 2. The pianist in the lobby bar stopped playing at 8:30pm on Saturday night. There was no one in the bar except for me from 7:00-8:15pm...A bunch of couples showed up at 8:15pm. If the bulk of your customers are showing up at 8pm have him play from 8-11 or something. 3. I really appreciate live music....and I hate to question an artist's abilities ( I work in the entertainment industry)...but the pianist/vocalist was not very good. Maybe that's why there was no one there until he left LOL 4. This isn't unique to this hotel (just a rant).....the whole "not cleaning rooms during your stay" is a farce meant to save the hotels money on staff. Many hotels are cleaning daily, I hate some chains are refusing to do it. 5. The pistachio-encrusted scallops at "Maestro's" next to the hotel were AWESOME.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try out the lounge that has a full menu and live piano player. Christmas garland and poinsettias adorned the glamorous hollywood twenties decor along with a huge and beautifuly decorated Christmas tree. The ambiance was cozy and service was delightful and they are dog friendly as well. We had the cheese tray, beads and spreads, chocolate layer cake, and cornbeef Reuben. It was all good and great prices. Look forward to our next visit! https://youtu.be/u6ZLjt8fscU

Yelp
Food was very expensive here, they got everybody at our event confused with free parking etc. Plus the card return wouldnt open when we tried leaving so. Everything around us was in walking distance but it has been a headache being here. 400 a night didn't seem worth it, bathrooms were decent tho

Yelp
We love this classic, elegant, and historic hotel. From the old world charm of the lobby, to the wood paneled elevators, with such comfortable beds, and a superb staff, this is our hotel of choice when we stay downtown. Food and drinks are outstanding, service is excellent, and we enjoy valet parking on cold winter mornings. All within easy walking distance of all the restaurants and shops downtown Greenville has to offer and a minute walk to the Peace Center. We will be back in a few weeks to again this jewel.

Yelp
More like 3.5. Based on location and priceline deal cost ($103+ tax= $123 approx)..if i had to pay standard price i wud be very upset and it wudda been a 2. However.... Room meets a basic standard for cleanliness and comfort.. there was no WOW Factor... Room location trickey.. Shudda had a sign to point out the one room # we were assigned to of the number sequence was not going to be in normal location of the rest of the rooms.. Not good for the OCDers like myself... For the standard cost i feel it shud include a fridge and microwave... Js Updated to a 2 after seeing that weave in the shower

Yelp
The hotel is amazing, wonderful professional staff - from the bellman, front desk, house keeping, restaurant and bar staff they are all true professionals and understand hospitality. Location is also great - walk out and three blocks to the left and three blocks to the right several eating and drinking choices. Come to the bar and you will have Dorothy, Patrick, and MaryAnn as your bartenders and you will feel at home.

Yelp
I spent one night at the Westin Poinsett for the wedding of my friends Jorge C. and Alma M. in Greenville. A large chunk of the wedding guests, including a great number of my friends, came from out of town and stayed at this hotel. The Westin ended up being a convenient headquarters, located right in the middle of a cute downtown. We got a good block rate, and everything from booking to check-out was easy. The parking was very cheap, I think with an overnight max of something like $7 or $8. (There was one of those scary signs at the entrance listing charges for first 15 minutes, 30 minutes, etc., but they were in like $.25 increments?) Service was friendly from check-in on. I had half a sandwich I wanted to refrigerate, and room service actually sent up a guy with a tiny refrigerator because there wasn't one in the room. Our room was pretty decent. We booked a room with two queens with a note that we wanted a king, and we were able to get that change without having to ask. We had plenty of space, and the bed was comfortable. I wouldn't say it was particularly luxurious or anything--the room, and the hotel, felt a bit dated--but it was just what we needed for the night. There were also a couple of wedding events in the hotel--an unofficial afterparty and a post-wedding brunch, both in the lobby. The lobby bar was pleasant and relaxing, with no one in it but us late on a Saturday night. The brunch was at Spoonbread, the Westin Poinsett's restaurant, with seating in the lobby, but I was too hung over to partake. I sat with everyone, nauseous and miserable, and it seemed like the rest of the crowd was having a good time. I ended up getting aspirin from the front desk (I think they charged me a buck or two) and running back to my room. I actually puked in my mouth in this elevator and had to hold it for nine floors. Good memories only at the Westin Poinsett.

Yelp
I had the best experience at The Westin, everyone was so kind and accommodating. Britton and Janise were so helpful and made the stay perfect. 5 Stars truly isn't enough for this hotel! Me and my husband stayed here after our wedding day and they made the day that much more perfect!
