Honest Review – Marriott Titanium Member|Currently Titanium, previously Ambassador with Marriott.||I travel frequently throughout the U.S. and Europe for work and have stayed at high-end properties like the Four Seasons in Costa Rica and the St. Regis in Puerto Rico. For family vacations, we’ve been to most destinations in the Caribbean and Central America (I travel with my wife and four kids).||This year, we wanted to experience Brazil and decided to stay at a Marriott property using points. Given the size of our family, we booked two rooms. Upon check-in, we were surprised by an additional $1,700 USD charge for having three people per room. While this was ultimately my oversight (I later found an email outlining the charge), it still felt steep.||As for the all-inclusive experience, we only dined on-property twice during our seven-night stay. The food was the same each day—mediocre at best. I appreciate the effort to showcase local fare, but the hotel should either add more variety and kid-friendly options or consider making it adults-only.||On the positive side, hotel leadership was professional. The GM and senior staff were excellent—no complaints there.||However, English is rarely spoken at this property. If you’re coming from the U.S., be prepared to use a translator app and don’t expect to see many other English-speaking guests. We encountered just one European couple during our stay. Bar and service staff didn’t speak English, which I understand given the local hiring focus. Still, if this is to be a premier destination, the property needs to offer better support for international travelers.||The drinks were average—not what you’d expect from a mid- or high-end beach resort.||The beach was very nice. The pool was average.||Live entertainment was a highlight—local music, dancing, and a great atmosphere.||Rooms:|Felt more like an older Sheraton than a Westin resort. We tried several times before arrival to secure adjoining rooms (with a family of six, this is important), but the request wasn’t accommodated. We didn’t make a fuss at check-in, but it was definitely a disappointment.||We ended up going into town most nights for dinner, which was a fun experience overall, though the food was average. If you’re used to dining in large U.S. cities, don’t expect to be wowed.||All that said, we’re glad we visited this part of Brazil. The buggy tour and natural pools in town were fun highlights.||Bottom Line:|This property has potential, but there’s still a lot of work to be done to make it a true high-end destination.
