The Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas

We had an excellent stay for 9 nights here. Our room was very nice, clean and comfortable. We had questions as to where we would eat, so were pleasantly surprised how good the onsite restaurant was. They have theme nights so even though the menu was limited we ended up eating there most of the nights during our stay. ||We had a ground floor room which was nice as we could just walk out to the quiet pool. However, the property is full of Nene geese thus you had to watch where you walked. Plus the geese enjoyed our patio and left their droppings on it a lot. However, the hotel had someone clean it up at least twice a day.

Loved the facility and the property — everything was so clean, peaceful, and well cared for. The staff were genuinely kind and went above and beyond to help me check in early, even on a Sunday, which I really appreciated. It’s definitely a family-friendly resort with lots of families and kids around — I was probably the only single person there! Still, it was such a relaxing and positive experience overall. There is a higher parking fee and a few timeshare-related charges to be aware of, but the quality of the stay made it worthwhile. Would absolutely come back again! 🌺✨

The Westin Princeville resort is a very beautiful resort with very good views and grounds. We rented a car to get back and forth to other ares of Kauai. Highly recommend a car rental. ||One exception are the endangered geese that are allowed to roam freely on the grounds. Even the pools are not cordoned off to keep them for wandering in the pool area. The geese leave considerable amount of droppings in the pool area and swim on the pool to leave their droppings in the pool. They are allowed to roam freely without restrictions. Not a fan of walking all around endangered geese droppings.

It's been 8 years since we last stayed at the Westin Princeville. Fortunately, the rooms are still in good condition and the grounds are kept up well. Everyone we encountered was friendly. There have been some changes since 2017. For instance, they now charge $30 a night for parking, which we thought was outrageous. They promise daily room service, but in fact they're short-staffed and we only had our room cleaned two of the five nights we stayed there. It might be better if they offered an incentive not to have your room cleaned daily, as many other resorts do, until their staffing levels increase. Sadly, the Nanea restaurant is nowhere near the quality level it once was. We had cocktails there but dined elsewhere.

This stay would have been disappointing at any cost but was totally unacceptable at the high cost we paid ($526/night base rate, well over $600 with fees & parking). ||On checking in, we noticed a spot that looked like blood on the dust ruffle but decided to overlook it--throughout the stay, we noted more smears, including on the "do not disturb" door hanger; we left a note for housekeeping pointing this out and asked them to replace them, with a tip--they took the note and the tip and left the soiled doorhangers on the dresser. Worst of all, we found several spots of blood on the mattress pad the morning we left. We also noted grimy surfaces and dirty carpet elsewhere in the unit. Other items in the unit were broken/missing and requests to have them replaced were not filled promptly/at all. We did mention the blood to the front desk staff when we checked out and they were mildly apologetic but didn't seem especially surprised.||I hope the state of our room was something other guests are unlikely to experience, but there are several other things about this property I would not recommend. The towel card system is draconian and inconvenient, padded chairs around the pools + rainy weather on the north shore means it is hard to ever find a dry place to sit, pools are nice but very shallow, restaurant service is very slow. The bedding is not at all what I would expect from a Westin property--squishy mattress and pillows that are like sleeping on a flour sack full of balled socks. Walls are thin and we were woken up by a neighbor's TV before 6 a.m. $30/night for parking on top of these room rates is ridiculous, especially when parking near guest buildings is very limited.||The Hanalei area is gorgeous. To fully enjoy your time there, stay literally anywhere else.

Property was absolutely beautiful! Our room was very nice with a beautiful view. Kitchen had everything you needed if you wanted to make dinner. The pool's were nice, lots of chairs to lay out on. Lots of space to explore or spend time relaxing. The restaurant on the property was just Ok. I liked that there was a little market with a Starbucks in it. Staff was very friendly. I would certainly recommend this property for your stay in Kauai

Great location, nice and friendly staffing, absolutely gorgeous views, great pools, clean rooms, comfortable bed and pillows. Everything is 5 stars. The only negative is the restaurant. The wait is long for service and the price doesn't match the food quality. Seafood night runs out before 6 pm and the restaurant is supposed to be open until 9 pm.

Hands down this is a perfect place on the north shore. Views of the ocean from the pool is stunning. Pool side service is great and lots of local information. Thank you Nancy and Jonah for a great day at the pool. Grounds are immaculate. Parking by your room can be a challenge but there is a multi level parking garage close. Rooms are spacious and have everything you need. Our private lanai was a nice treat in the morning with a cup of coffee. We stayed here 2 of 8 nights on island. Wished we did all 8 here - next time 100%.

OMG, WOW!! First time at The Westin, Princeville and it was a truly great experience! We checked in exactly at 4 pm ( check in time) and never left the premises. hehe. Enjoying every moment here from check in to check out. Stayed here just for one night, weekend staycation and it was super nice! while here I was thinking of our retirement plans, def. stay longer here, -one week! Checking in was quick and easy, Anela who helped me was friendly, I know this place is huge, as she gave us our room key, towel card, parking pass, and map of the property. She explained it well as we had no problem finding our villa, after parking closer. There are 7 villa total and 3 pools here, We were at Villa 3, The rooms are a nice size, we got the studio room, comes with sofa bed, Queen bed, tiny kitchen area, whirlpool and even a washer and dryer. I loved our view, we got ocean/garden view, corner room and I enjoyed sitting outside, relaxing, on my phone and enjoying my morning coffee the next day. We never left the premises except for exploring the property, hitting the pools and taking a morning walk around Princeville area. We briught alcoholic beverages and take out foods, which we enjoyed meals in our room. Oh there's a family of Nene, native species. They sure welcomed us upon our arrival. When walking around, be sure to watch out for Nene poop. Also when we had some chips near the pool the Nene birds were smart, they come close to you for food. Do not feed the Nene! They are so precious! The Princeville has 3 pools but we only discovered 2 and never made it to look for the 3rd one. Can't wait to stay here again so we can check out the 3rd pool. I loved the quiet/adult pool and jacuzzi, I loved the views with the lush tropical views in the back ground. Everything was just perfect and relaxing, I am so happy I finally get to stay at a Westin property. Can't wait to be back again! Grateful always. FYI- Self parking is $25. & No early or late check out.

I recently stayed at Westin Princeville, and unfortunately, my experience was marred by the unprofessional behavior of the front desk manager Kala Hoapili. Upon arrival, there was a problem with our reservation--it appeared to be missing from their system. While I understand that such issues can happen, the manager's attitude in resolving the matter was incredibly rude and lacked any empathy. Instead of trying to help us find a solution, he accused us of not having a reservation at all and refused to consider that it could have been a mistake from the reservation department. His unwillingness to listen and his accusatory tone were the worst I've seen from anyone in the hospitality industry. It's disappointing to encounter such behavior in a place where customer service should be paramount. I hope Westin addresses this issue to prevent future guests from experiencing the same treatment.

This place is beautiful, but it's dead here. Feels like the resort that's been forgotten LOCATION & DECOR: On the most northern point on the island. Over looking the ocean and a beautiful golf course. Same decor you'd expect from a Westin property. Light, bright and luxurious with an island paradise feel. FOOD & DRINK: Hard to find. Not a lot of choices and the hours open are quite limited. Better to find a spot outside the property in my opinion. PRICE:$$$-$$$$ Luxury views at a cost for sure. It's a resort so expect to pay resort fees and all that ish. SWAG/AMENITIES: -fitness center -restaurant -gift shop -hot tub -swimming pool -Landry -room service -controlled temperature in unit -balconies and outdoor patios -whale watching -golf course -kitchenette with microwave and stove top in some units -Jacuzzi tub in room -Ocean views STAFF & EXPERIENCE: This place is just so dead. Staff was cool. Kind and professional. Definitely did all they could to accommodate any needs and requests. Extra pillows and blankets no problem. The restaurant seems to have hours that cater to an older crowd. Super clean facility. Not a lot of fit traffic at this secluded location. Daily activities were a nice way to have some fun at this otherwise desolate location. This was my partners home timeshare location for Westin, which she switched after this trip due to the overall lack of action and underwhelming location. But more like a retirement community than a Westin resort.

Loved our stay at the Westin! It was quiet, peaceful and had amazing plants, birds and views! We were in a 2 bedroom unit, which included a lock off. The rooms were comfy & well stocked with the basics. I did a lot of cooking, and the appliances worked great. We had a mid week housekeeping refresh & that worked out well. Parking can be a bit challenging, but we did ok most days. I would absolutely stay here again. It was beautiful!

Exceeded expectations!! We stayed here September 21 through September 24th 2023. We booked through the Marriott Bonvoy app and were able to get a decent price of $494 base room rate plus additional taxes $50.64, $23.28, $14.82, $20, .94 cents. Lots of extra taxes and fees but overall a great value IMO because of the size and quality of the room plus the location and amenities. The main pool is under renovation which is not a big deal because there are two additional pools which were both great and never very crowded during our stay. We stayed in building #3 in room 3228 which is oceanfront with a balcony. I reserved a standard room however I believe that this specific room was an upgrade because of my Marriott Gold status- a nice upgrade and feature of the Marriott Bonvoy program!! The property has a number of fresh renovations in progress. New paint, new furniture and decor, plus the pool renovations. The room was huge and we were surprised at the size. Room 3228 has a large foyer with a large closet plus locking safe. It has a separate alcove with stackable washer and dryer. The kitchen is full service with a full size fridge, microwave plus small dishwasher and cooktop. The sink also has a garbage disposal. The bathroom is large and has a separate jacuzzi tub, separate shower and separate toilet area. The bedroom area had a large king bed which is perfectly comfortable and a sofa plus dining area adjacent to the balcony. Our room has fresh paint, fresh decor and the laundry and kitchen facilities appear to all be new. Eating and dining is very expensive on this island so the kitchen is handy to prep meals and save money. The infinity edge pool with jacuzzi near building 6 is magical. All of the landscaping and grounds are kept manicured. Near the entrance to the hotel is a great shopping area with gas, groceries, wine market, post office and restaurants. It's just a 12 minute walk from the Westin. ALL of the staff were incredibly friendly and efficient. Joann at check in, Andrea and Cassidy in the Nanea restaurant and all of the pool and house keeping staff. We LOVE this Westin and highly recommend it!!!

It's been years since I gave management feedback about there never being enough shade areas (palapas, trees, shade sails, anything) at all three of the pools, and not a single change. People still get to the pools early and hoard the lounge chairs under what shade is provided. If you occasionally like a respite from the hot Hawaiian sun, then this hotel may not be your best option. Otherwise, however, it's a great place stay.

FANTASTIC location, wonderful adult pools. No spa, no restaurant (pool food at best) Westin heavenly bed is a thing of the past. Beds were not comfortable and was foam and not down bedding.

I'm not sure what people are complaining about in reviews. I am quite a hotel snob, sadly. This place was pure Heaven to me.

This is a beautiful, laid back resort WAY up north, away from the hustle and bustle. Lots of things to do on "island time". This is our 2nd year coming here and we'll be back again!! Reed from the owners membership team was incredible! He gave a great presentation and was very accommodating to our personal needs. Can't give a better recommendation! Mahalo Reed!!

From the moment we checked in we fell in love with this property. The ladies at the front desk were lovey and very thorough. The property is absolutely stunning and the pool area is not only nice but has a ton of games and a kids pool for the kids (the kids pool was extremely warm). The only suggestion I have is don't stay too long. I don't think I could do a week here but 2-3 nights is perfect.

Our home away from home. We absolutely love this property. We were married here in 2021. Since then we have been back once and plan on visiting again this year. No where else we would rather stay when visiting Kauai. We love walking down to Wyllie beach during sunset. It is so beautiful and peaceful. Even the ocean is quiet. For challenging waves we go to Secret Beach. Our favorite spot to bodyboard especially without a crowd. Most of the time we have the beach to ourselves. The Westin is close to Hanalei for dining and shopping. We love how close it is to hiking trails. One of our favorite hikes is Queens bath, a must see when visiting Princeville!! A big perk is having a kitchen and washer/dryer during our stay. Nice to pack light and eat a few meals in. They have a ton of bbq grills and their amenities are top notch. They also have a peleton bike in their gym! Ive been on a peleton running kick but it was nice to have the cycle option. Their gym is small but it has all the essentials needed for a good workout on vacation. We have not used the pool there but it is very kid friendly. Splash pad and a water slide. Once the boys are older we will bring them. Until then it's our spot to take time out for ourselves and reset. This place is very special to us. We 100% recommend the Westin Princeville. And we look forward to coming back!

As usual, the nicest day at a timeshare resort that has a kitchen in the refrigerator However, I felt the food was bad at the restaurant, and the games are pretty disappointing. The rooms are clean, however just has it and don't have a beach day. You can necessarily walk to.

The grounds are well kept and beautiful . The trail down to the beach is doable, although it's kinda steep & and don't forget the hike back up. We're both in our early 60's . The room: somewhat disappointing, had to request room service on 3rd day. It wasn't done daily as suggested. When they did come in no vacuuming etc. also the tile in kitchen seemed sticky from day one. Also room needs updating , the carpet was frayed and granite countertops and cabinets look dated The staff was great !! All very nice and helpful!!! They were a 5+!!!!!!

We loved staying here when we went to Kauai this past February. The place reminded of what staying at a Disney resort could look like. It was lush, sprawling with space, scenic picturesque views, grand pools (one even had a mini water slide for the kids), and an onsite mini grocery store + restaurant. This place is the definition of resort. Our room was huge with a kitchenette, washer/ dryer, huge bathroom and patio with sliding glass door that you could exit onto the grounds. The grass was manicured perfectly.. I just wouldn't recommend walking barefoot on the grass because of all the ducks. They are plentiful here and they poop everywhere (including in and around the pools).. I couldn't take a star off for that because I didn't mind them. Ducks and humans can coexist. Another plus of staying here was the whale watching you could view from the adults only pool in the back of the property. (Please don't ask me to tell you if that's north, south, east or west-- I use waze for everything including walking. Yes, I'm one of those.) If you're looking for beach front, this is not the resort to stay at. The beach was about a mile hike from the property which wasn't too far. During the day we were mostly out and about exploring the island and other beaches so using the one here at this resort wasn't necessary. I was content using the pools and jacuzzi's on the property. The pools are probably the highlight of this entire property for me. I love water and they had 3 total that we swam in. The biggest is the one directly in front of the main lobby. Unfortunately the swim up bar was closed during our stay (for Covid) but hopefully they'll get to open it up again soon. The towel service was great because they allow you 2 towels at a time which you could switch out whenever you needed so long as you just traded your used ones for new ones. You could do this at both the front desk or at the towel hut next to the main pool. As for the room itself, it was big with a huge bathroom- perfect if you have multiple people who need access (couples/ families etc.) The kitchen came with the basics-- coffee maker, some pots, microwave, dishwashing soap, laundry detergent for a few washes, and a kitchen sponge. The grocery store isn't too far away from the resort so it made it easy to pick up stuff if you felt like cooking. They don't clean the rooms here during your stay-- Garbage can be left outside your room and they were pretty good at picking up the garbage bags quickly when the staff would make their rounds. They were also really generous if we needed any extra shampoo/ conditioner/ coffee with creamer. All we needed to do was walk over to the front desk to ask for some. At night this place is gorgeous with all the tiki torches that are lit up throughout the property and next to the pools. And because there's not much light pollution out here, you can still see the stars shining so brightly at night. Gotta love that.

The grounds here are truly paradise realized. Very well manicured. The buildings are in pretty good shape. There is one building (rooms) that looks it's been skipped a few times . The grounds or block of buildings include a pool, spa and bbq's. This is nice if you don't want to be in the center of the general population. Bbqs are very clean and ready to go. We just added steak ! The spa....well let's just say they maintain the water but they do not clean the siding/tile. It was pretty disgusting from the built up sun screen. You could etch your name in it ( see pic). The beach was picture perfect but no real access. There was a trail about what seemed two miles if straight down eroded path. We walked halfway and it just got worse. It was decided to turn around not worth it. The service around the main pool area is sketchy. It depends on the restaurant, if it's busy no waitstaff can be found and you have to walk into the bar to order a drink and wait for it (food) While out at the main pool I noticed a man walking around the grounds with a clipboard. I asked him what he does he replied that he inspects the grounds and is in charge of the outside. I asked about the filthy spas encountered and he said they are cleaned daily before use.....well I took him over one the main area. He was astonished and said it looks to be months since it was cleaned, his words . Rooms were nice with great sitting balconies. We enjoyed our coffee and wine on them. We were visited by the many birds including the red headed cardinals my favorite. By the way Nenes run the place and have free roam. So watch where you step.

Beautiful resort! Very elegant. Love the views. Very quiet; almost a bit boring. Need a car. Very long somewhat treacherous walk to the beach. Hotel needs a shuttle to get to a beach or anywhere really. Nice staff.

Comfortable place to stay. Hanale is very accessible but it's a bit of a drive to the eastern, southern and western shores if Kauai. Staff is attentive and friendly. Facilities ate in good shape.

Very quiet resort compared to some of the other vacation ownership spots. I guess that's more in line of what Princeville is - remote and quiet... except for the roosters. Beautiful property... although most of the staff were friendly, they were not as helpful as what I'd expect at a "Westin" property. Being a timeshare owner, they also cut out a lot of the services that normally come with ownership. It felt like staying in just another hotel versus an owner's resort.

I'd do '0' if I could. Two nights was about $1,500.00 and I wouldn't put my dog there even if they paid me to. It's old and dirty and everything else in-between. Needless to say this is what WESTIN has come down and is it ever sad!!! I don't know where to begin so I won't waste my time or your's just trust me. Just a couple of things before I go... Cheap furniture and nothing matched. Plastic for dining table seat cushions, rusty base on lamp, closet door broken, wouldn't slide, sink was clogged up, dishwasher FILTHY & OLD and track was damaged so couldn't roll the rack in or out, dirty and cheap carpeting, didn't dare remove my shoes. Towel rack broke away from the wall. There's more but you get the idea. Oh.... and CHECK-OUT is 10am... 10AM! They started calling the room as well as knocking on the door to make sure we'd be out by 10AM and when I answered the door I told the lady I'd be out in 5 minutes .... get this, she didn't understand English so pointed to her phone for me to speak into so the phone could translate to her what I was saying. Also, our flight was delayed so we were late arriving and starving. We asked about room service, what a question, of course no room service so I asked if we could get something to eat... another stupid question. Everything closes at 9PM, even the grocery store down the street. Needless to say, DON'T!!!! DON'T even think about it!!!!!!!!!!

This place is very nice - the pools and the restaurant are lovely. However, many of the rooms don't have ocean views and about a third of them have parking lot views which will be VERY disappointing to all those who spent their big vacation dollars to come here! Also, I'm extremely disappointed with the Concierge service here. I booked a boat cruise several months in advance of our trip. About a month before our arrival I cancelled it and I am still waiting today for a refund. Update: the Concierge apologized and explained that my refund was not processed. Me: "I know, that's why I'm calling." Them: "Sorry we will process right away." Wait for the next update! Hello- no refund yet but another promise that "it will be processed"

This hotel is an oasis and then some overall! We were gifted a timeshare here as a place to stay for our honeymoon, and we enjoyed about every minute there. Fantastic food at Nanea restaurant, super friendly service, BEAUTIFUL location right on the waters of the north shore of Kauai, everything within reasonable distance, and a very nice studio suite that was well equipped. Our only gripe was the timeshare presentation we got sucked into. The first guy was very chill and relaxed and understood we weren't in any spot to purchase (not that we ever will), but the guy after him basically almost held us hostage because 'we promised us 90mins of our time." Not ok, he even knew after we said no, and why he didn't get that or acted a bit hostile is baffling. Luckily the gal after that to close out the meeting was super understanding and was mortified that happened. But anyways, an awesome getaway that's pretty much secluded enough but got something for everyone. We'd be back for sure.

I was really excited to stay here based on recommendations from friends about the location and facility. However, my stay could've definitely been better because there's a lot of room for improvement on the customer service and cleaning side. As soon as we pulled up to the valet area, there was a car in front of us, blocking the left side/fire lane. The two valet guys there just stared at us as we proceed to wait, and wait, and wait as they helped the car in front unload their belongings. Not once did they wave hello, direct the customer to pull over to the front, nor did they even acknowledge our presence with anything other than blank stares. When we finally pulled forward and park on the right side along the curb, we slowly exited and began to unload our trunk. Not once did any of the valet guys come up to greet us, ask if we needed help with our bags, or ask if we're checking in. With our bags finally on the curb, I walked up to one of the valets and mentioned that we're checking in. Still staring blankly as if I had said something so crazy, so absurd, he finally asked if I needed help with our bags. At this point, we were both so annoyed by the complete lack of customer service that we just proceeded to the front desk with our bags in tow. We arrived just 5 minutes before the actual check-in time and were told that our room was not ready but should be shortly due to their "extensive" cleaning service for COVID-19 precautions. "No problem", I thought, as I understand how important that is. As we sat in the lobby, I saw guest after guest check in and receive their room keys, while we continued to wait for about a 1/2 hour until someone finally came to us regarding ours. Our room was spacious, well-appointed, and seemingly clean. We decided to fill up the tub but were shocked to see that the jets blew out so much black, slimy, scaly debris. It was pretty disgusting. Other than the poor customer service, the grounds are quite beautiful. I guess they'll always have that.

If I could give this facility less than 1 star I certainly would. It is a lovely property where the staff (and GM) simply don't care about you or your family. It started with getting sick on the fish from the restaurant there. Then a day or so later we come back from a dive trip to find our room blocked open with the safety bar. I told my wife to stay in the hall while I checked the room. Finding nobody in the room I brought her in and immediately called the front desk to report it. They said they would send security and an hour or so later (as we stress about what was missing or potentially hacked) I called them back since nobody had shown up. They said they came and scanned the lock so they knew it was housekeeping and would "talk to them". The next day I got a message from the "on duty manager" to say sorry. They didn't come to see us or check on us so the following day I went to talk to her. She, of course, wasn't working that day so they gave me another "on duty manager-Asia" who told me that this does happen but not very often. If it happens once it's BAD, if it continues to happen it is a management/training issue and they simply don't care about you, your safety, or your property. We asked them to move us to another property and they refused. They said that we could check out early if we wanted and they would credit us unused nights. Try and find a last minute hotel in Hawaii right now!! They didn't care, didn't try to help or accommodate us (except for $100 meal credit) so we will never go back to this property. STAY AWAY!

In full disclosure, I checked out of this property on July 1st, so this review is 3 weeks dated. This hotel was extremely ill prepared to be open. They are charging Ritz Carlton prices with a Courtyard experience. I feel a bit bad using Courtyard in the analogy as Courtyard is 10X more creative with their market/food than this place and most Courtyards offer shuttle service (so maybe a Motel 6 is a closer comparison). I'm sure they will blame COVID but the other Marriott properties on the island were vastly superior in terms of their preparedness, amenities, communication, food, etc. We started our trip to Kauai at the Marriot Beach Club in Lihue which was fantastic. It was fully open with poolside service, multiple top notch restaurants, great staff, rentals for the beach, etc. Then we went to the Westin Princeville and felt that we were stranded on the set of Six Days, Seven Nights. I feel awful for the staff at this hotel whose job is to pretty much say "no" and "I'm sorry" all day long. It's really unfair to the staff who are clearly dealing with the incompetence of management and/or ownership. My issue, which has been mentioned in other reviews, is the incredible lack of disclosure of what we were to expect at the hotel. They should notify you that a rental car is required if you plan on staying there. There were no restaurants open on site for some reason despite every other Marriot property on the island serving food. There were also no places within walking distance, and the on site market was completely bare. I ate an egg sandwich for dinner one night out of desperation (they had one left from breakfast that day) since I was sick of the awful $20 convection oven pizza. It was ridiculous to have such limited options considering it was the only option. My daughter got a cut on her face that absolutely should have received stitches, but the operator said I would have to call a taxi because they didn't have a shuttle to help us get her out of the property and to a medical center. The taxis were all completely booked, so we honestly had no choice but to doctor her up in our room on our own. The hotel was more concerned about how my daughter got hurt for liability purposes than her receiving proper medical care. They did not want to bring us bandaids or Neosporin until they were given more information about the injury. You can imagine how happy I was to walk by two shuttles the next day, parked. Would have been nice to know they could have used them to help us in a moment of need. As a result of the inability to feed my family at this market, I was forced to rent an old car on craigslist for an exorbitantly high price due to the rental car shortage. I did not feel comfortable doing this but didn't have a choice. I honestly feel that the lack of disclosures on what to expect at this hotel could have put my daughter's health at risk and it is dangerous to not have a proper food supply for guests with no easy way to obtain your own food. In the end, I think the staff was trying hard and can't imagine that it is enjoyable to work at this property with how it is being managed. Management and ownership need to step up immediately or reduce rates by 50%.

I stayed in 1 bedroom condo for 8 nights. Replied to an email request for rating survey. While the condo set up and view was nice, the condo was filthy. The oven was so dirty, I didn't want to use it. The grout on all the tile floors was black instead of white (next to edges). Additionally, the shower and tub were grimy and the fixtures were all corroded and had massive mineral buildup due to leaking. I was contacted by manager to schedule a cleaning, which was already scheduled for the next day. The cleaning made no difference, only sheets and towel change an garbage emptied. It's very sad as I'm an owner of timeshare with Vistana and this property is one I will not be returning to.

This is one of The Westins properties and I must say this property is very well kept and our room had a great view of the ocean and golf course. We ate most of our meals on the property and the sweet potato fries were so good we had them every day. We were never disappointed in our meals during our stay so I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful property with many gorgeous pools, friendly staff, amazing views and nice amenities. They provide almost everything you might need. Our room included a washer and dryer which we really appreciated. Would have packed less if I knew that! Full size refrigerator in the room. Electric cook top with two burners. Plates, bowls, glasses and silverware. Knife block and basics for cooking. They had two small frying pans but no pot to cook in. Hall closet includes an umbrella which you might just need in Kauai. The bathroom is really nice with jet tub and very nice shower with granite counters and nice quality toiletry products. The bedding is also nice. On the down side, there is no direct beach access and the "sister" property they say you can go to for beach access and other amenities is closed for another year or so. No spa but there are good mobile spa services. Check out my other reviews. The on-site restaurant has a bit of a limited menu and no breakfast but there is a grocery store just a moments drive away and you can make your own! Do not arrive even 10 minute early to check in. 4 pm check in is real. We didn't get a calendar of activities on the property when we checked in and there is nothing on the website so that was a miss otherwise it is an incredible place to stay.

We have been vacationing in Maui for the past several years, staying at the Kaanapali Westin Resorts established a high bar of opulence. As an owner, I have the option of vacationing at numerous resorts within the network, lending us diversification of destinations and experiences. To fully disconnect from the daily grind, we typically immerse ourselves for at least two weeks in the wealth of natural beauty of Hawaii. This year we chose to visit Princeville Hawaii. A two-week stay and convenience require a one-bedroom villa at a minimum, as a cramped hotel room can hamper one's comfort and vacation even in Hawaii. The Westin Resort villa provides an accommodating sojourn with a full kitchen, a dining room, a living room, and bedrooms, depending on the selected villa plan. As I expected, our two-bedroom lock-off villa was quite luxurious but not pretentious, with great views, spacious, clean and includes private balconies. The villas are current and refurnished at ten-year increments. This particular property is due for refreshment, with renovations starting the spring of next year. I do have one criticism on the claim of inclusive full kitchens, they lack an oven to bake in. Nonetheless, it's a dwelling away from home with full amenities, including an in-unit washer and dryer. This particular Westin resort met my expectations and did not disappoint in matters that were noteworthy. The staff expressed care, hospitality, charm, pleasing attitude, and professionalism. At every request, the staff delivered and followed up with a call to ensure my satisfaction. My dedicated concierge was equally impressive. The property has pool options, depending on your needs. The main pools, central to the property, offer a kids pool and play area, my least favorite for obvious reasons. For tranquility, I mainly utilized the "quiet" and "infinity" pools/whorl-pools distant from boisterous and insubordinate children. The resort situated at cliff's edge, poses a drawback, the lack of direct access to a beach. There are two remedies, a beach adjacent to the property requiring a steep hike or a complimentary and brief shuttle/drive to the Princeville Resort with full access to their beach. The Princeville Resort, formally a St. Regis property, affords amazing views of the bay and full accommodations through resort partnership, including free valet service and a 15% discount at their restaurant. Overall, I am overly pleased with my stay and the accommodations the resort provides. The only compromise is the lack of convenient beach access, but with Kauai being recognized for its spectacular beaches, its a deficiency that encourages adventure.

I was invited here on a "presentation package" with a deal I could not refuse. And I'm so glad I went! I've gone through previous timeshare presentations with other companies and found they were hostile, pressuring, and rude. The salesmen here are very respectful and seem genuinely straightforward. Also, the property is located on a cliff with immaculate views. The rooms feel very luxurious and comfortable too. It doesn't have a beach but has 3 pools and close distance to popular beaches. Keep in mind this resort is in a remote part of the island, so if you want something more busy, I'd stay more south, but I prefer a relaxing and peaceful area when I visit Hawaii. The staff are great and the Nanea restaurant is delicious with great service. The only downsides is the amount of Nenes (Hawaiian goose). There are a lot by the pools and poop everywhere which is disgusting. I wish the resort did a better job cleaning up after them or keeping them away from the pool areas. They are cute though.

Kinda disappointing for the price. Rooms and buildings are worn with age, elevators are old and small and slow, kiddie pool structures are faded and the sea turtle fountains are visibly decaying in the water, pool is not well maintained (bugs and leaves floating in it, for instance), etc. In addition, there is only one restaurant, but no host (just a sign-in sheet standing there at the front), so patrons get very confused and frustrated. Also, no housekeeping or room service, both of which you'd hope to have at such an expensive destination resort. Similarly, poolside food/drink service appear to occur only intermittently. That said, the location is beautiful, the rooms are nice and spacious, and the bi-level main pool is really cool. This place was probably amazing 20 years ago, and likely can fix a lot of issues when fully staffed, but just not worth $700+ per night in its current condition.

The only thing I can say about this place is that the staff is very friendly/helpful and it's in a good location. My negative review is due to 2 things: 1. The garbage stations that are right next to the elevators. It reeks (really bad) every time you go near there ( we were on the 3rd floor, couldn't avoid it). 2. There is no AC in the hallways so the garbage gets to cook during the day . Westin vacation properties have really take a hit since they were sold to marriott. It's horrible. Whatever you do decide, DO NOT buy a timeshare with Vistana/Starwood (check the reviews and google online timeshare ownership)

The resort property is beautiful. The customer service is incredibly poor. Arrived at resort around 2PM. Check in guaranteed 4PM room still not ready at 4:20. Finally got it after we called to complain for the 3rd time at close to 5PM We booked a "Garden" view room. Not sure what they consider a garden view but our view did not reflect our expectations. Picture below. They have only one on site restaurant and it is only open until 7? This is a travel destination and nothing nearby for weary travelers who have to wait until close to dinner time for room and bags. Who thinks that is good customer service? Then to toss your bags to rush for a meal and be treated with very poor customer service at the restaurant, off to a very poor. Not a great first impression. We had only One robe in Room. We called for a second one Waited and an hour called again. We are tired and unimpressed. Most large resorts have a convenience store on premise that sells basic necessities, toiletries, OTCs etc. their "Market" has some sandwiches, a few souvenirs but basically zero general merch. Nothing within walking distance. They try to sell time shares here. Though the property is beautiful, the amenities and customer service are seriously lacking. We'll pass on the investment here

Second time staying at the Westin and love it. Our entire family of 15 meet up at this spot for vacation. The grounds are beautiful, the staff is super nice and I love the island of Kauai. The pools are beautiful and perfect for kids-I feel very safe letting them go as a pair to the pool. I love the chickens, roosters and Nene geese that visit every morning. I know with the pandemic that staffing is short but this location is trying their best.....we will be back in 2 years! Thank you

I'll start by saying that the pool area is quite nice with pretty views and great space to lay out and relax. And while it does look beautiful from helicopter shots and photos from vantage points you will never be able to see, this is by no means a Westin. I have stayed at dozens of Westins and this property does not meet the standards that the brand is known for. I know we are in COVID times, but this hotel does not even meet the expectations that other Marriott properties (including those in Hawaii) are currently setting. There is no excuse for a "resort" to not have a full service restaurant for all three meals a day. Having hours of 11:30-7pm to-go orders only is extremely weak. No room service either btw. It isn't like this property is close to many other food options. And let's not pretend that the little grab-and-go "market" fills this gap. It doesn't. There is no cleaning service whatsoever during your stay. No garbage removal, no beds made, no towels replenished. This is made worse by the fact that the body wash was empty in the shower upon arrival and there was a half eaten block of cheese left in the refrigerator. I guess they are not even fully cleaning between guests?? Totally unacceptable. The parking is abysmal. It is a complete pain to find a spot near your building. Valet doesn't help since you would have to walk from the check in area across the property to your room. Did they actually charge me $18 a day to circle for 10 min each time and then walk blocks to my building? If you called this place a Springhill Suites and priced it appropriately, I would be satisfied with my parking lot view. However, as a $400/ night Westin "resort", this is a bad experience that definitely did not meet expectations.

The Westin is beautiful well maintained with very friendly staff . Be sure you know what your looking for. The WestinPrinceville is not a 5 star ocean resort with all the amenities. First the property is a time share the villas as they call them are very nice , kitchen , washer dryer , shower and bath tub there isn't as swimmable Beach but there are several nice pools. A lot of families here and they have barbecuing available to cook outside. Resteraunt at the Westin is very limited no breakfast and the resteraunt doesn't open until 11:30 and closes at 7. There is a store that serves coffee , pizza , breakfast sandwiches but a sit down and be served a good breakfast non existent. Resteraunt s are far and few between there are a few in Hanalei but expect a wait for dinner. Kapaa is a 40 minute drive for a more diverse choice of restaurants. So if your looking to hang out at the Westin property cook and swim in the pool this may suit you. For us was not a property we would return to.

Littering the worst customer service! Booked a reservation here for 3 nights, accidentally got the first day wrong and was actually coming the next day. Called to change the reservation and they said they could not modify it. So we figured we would just keep the reservation and not worry about a refund on night one because we were not able to make it that day. We showed up the next day to stay the other 3 nights we had booked and already paid for. They denied us saying we were a no show. Refund will take 7-10 business days to process. So we are now here without a place to stay or the money we paid.

Had a very relaxing afternoon here when I stopped by for a bite to eat on my day off. Maya from the Princeville Bistro & Market was very kind and helpful. She really went the extra mile to make sure that all of my needs were taken care of. Good selection of salads. Pancho Graham played beautifully soft guitar music. The atmosphere of the property is very soothing and comfortable. The grounds are well maintained, and the view of the ocean is lovely. All the staff were very welcoming and polite in a sincere way. They went out of their way to do the simple things, like holding the door open and offering greetings. I know a good hotel when I see one!

This was for our trip in 2019, it was the best experience I have ever had in a hotel. Multiple pools, all of them heated. Kids pool was in the middle which had very easy access. Breakfast restaurant in the middle as well. Activities throughout the day for kids and adults. Bathrooms with showers located all over property. Shopping center and some restaurants near by the property as well.

I love Hawaii and this was our first time visiting Kauai. While the island is gorgeous, our stay at Westin was concerning. To start you will notice chickens and roosters everywhere. This is normal for Hawaii, but this was my first time seeing so many on a resort and hearing crows at 5 AM right outside my window on the first floor. I called front desk to see if there were earplugs available and they said no. I called concierge to see if there were any to purchase and the woman on the phone told me to go down the road to find some. She shared this is a normal Hawaiian experience and that they can't just chase wild life out. I explained that this was my 4th visit to Hawaii but my first time experience something like this. I absolutely do not want wild life chased off property, just to be provided earplugs since this is a known issue on site and the windows and walls don't properly drown out the sounds of rooster crows. Just seems like a resort like this with an ocean front would have less poop all over the ground/ outdoor seating and at minimum a set of complimentary earplugs to be able to sleep in.

Sorry to have booked at this property. Look at other options. Parking is challenging with limited availability. You will pay a premium to park. Rooms need an update along with better cleaning.

I have a reservation for tomrorow and I have covid. I had to cancel my reservation but the policy is that they charge 1 night plus taxes and fees (around $1,000). The hotel would rather I come there with covid and infect all their guests and staff than provide a refund. Crazy what the priorities are here. If you care about getting sick, I would stay somewhere else!

Enjoyed my stay here. Room was cozy with a full kitchen with supplies. That was neat. Outside our building (building #5) and near the pool, there are grills. If it weren't for the fact that I didn't come on vacay to cook, I'd have cooked/grilled. Service was great. Can't complain. Room cleaned on the daily when we didn't have the "Do not disturb" sign. Two pools. The infinity pool is away from the main building, between buildings 6 and 7. Tucked away and quiet. Has a Jacuzzi. Nice view of the beach. Loved that. I never went to the main pool but walked by it loads. The pool chairs were surprisingly very comfy. You get a free shuttle ride to the Princeville Resort (previously known as St Regis) so you can use their public access beach. As Westin guests, we get 15% off on foods and non alcoholic drinks (caveat, they charge you 18% gratuity automatically). Based on previous reviews, I didn't even try to access the beach at the Westin but I saw signs for beach access so I can't imagine it would have been difficult to access it. We only ate at the Westin restaurant once and it was for Sunday brunch and supposedly much bigger than their regular breakfast. And boy, was it one of the best hotel brunches / breakfasts I've ever had (second to the Waldorf Astoria in Rome, Italy). My favorite dishes were the omelette station, the pork benedicts, the chicken... The desserts. Omg everything was so tasty and savory. I wanted a mimosa but opted out ($10 for 3 glasses, not bad). I did have the guava juice. Scrumptious. So I can't tell you anything about their general breakfast but the brunch is SO worth it. I know regular bfast is $26/person, not sure about brunch because my money maker refused to tell me, but it is more expensive. In Kauai, a car is a must. There is a shopping center in walking distance with food options, including the Spot North Shore (MUST TRY, see my review on their page). Otherwise you need a car. My money makers had a cool deal with the hotel where they got a car included, that was neat. The car made a HUGE difference. Unless you are okay paying insanely for a ride share or taxi or just staying at the hotel your whole stay, you REALLY need a car. Definitely was fun. Forgot to mention the gym, it was nice and big. Definitely worth using Overall I'd come here but keep in mind that this trip was funded for me so I was enjoying it in a different way (ie I didn't have to think about it's worth in terms of money).

DO NOT STAY HERE. Save your money, time, and heartache that fighting with them on the back end will cause. We switched our reservation from another property to stay here and it was the biggest mistake we could have made. We were here for our honeymoon and hoping for a relaxing few days and instead were treated to a trash filled dump. The rooms were dirty and smelled awful. There was mold growing in our shower. Trash pilled up in the hallways. Management was unavailable during our entire 5 day stay and to boot we were yelled at by staff when we tried to complain or ask questions. I even had a container of food thrown at me by an employee. I asked each day to speak to the manager and each day I was told he was "off property". I followed up several times on the back end asking to speak with the General Manager and each time was told he was unavailable. A month after returning from our trip I was finally put in contact with the GM who claims he was on property the entire time and lives on property as well. I also watched staff scream at a guest in front of me during check-out. Needless to say our honeymoon was ruined by this property and no one at the resort seemed to care. We were later told by the neighboring time share that management recently changed and guests have been complaining left and right. Save your money and go elsewhere.

The quality of your stay depends a lot on which room you get, and unfortunately about 1/2 of the rooms that are available face a parking lot -- and you might not even find a parking spot in the lot that your room overlooks. Also, there is rooster noise all night long, and it is worse depending on where your room is located. Finally, they will try to sell you a time share and housekeeping is inconsistent. The map shows that it has 7 buildings, but the reality is that 3 best-located buildings (3, 6, and 7) are time-shares, according to the front desk. The rooms in three of the other buildings overlook a parking lot if you are on the parking lot side of the building. The remaining building (2) has a few rooms on the end that overlook a parking lot and a common bbq area where on two nights the grill lights shined into our room. Building 2 also has the most rooster noise because it backs up to an junglish area/path to the beach where a lot of roosters live. The roosters crow all night long, beginning as early as 2:55 am one night -- we were so thankful that I brought ear plugs I had received from a hotel in New York City. Building 1 is the worst because it is located between a parking lot that backs up to the area where a lot of roosters live and its front side looks into the side of the main building, and some of the rooms even overlook a loading dock. To add insult to injury, on 5 of the 6 nights that we stayed there, the parking lot that our room overlooked was full and we had to park on the other side of the main building -- which is not great when you are carrying things. Even for the rooms that don't overlook the parking lot, very few provide a view of the ocean. The rooms that have the best view are on the third floor of the non-parking lot side of building 4. I asked if we could be moved to a different room, but was not provided with any that were any better, and even then, they would not be available for a day or two. Moreover, if you move rooms, you have to check out at 10 am and check back in after 4 pm -- so you don't have a room for 6 hours, even though you are paying for one. I felt like the front desk did not care about us enjoying our stay. One unwelcome thing -- when you check in, the front desk tells you that you have been assigned to a concierge, but when we talked to that person, she only tried to get us to attend a 90-minute sales presentation to buy a time share. Finally, housekeeping was inconsistent. Even though we requested daily housekeeping, they did not show up on two of the days during our stay. When they do service the room, it does not include fresh sheets -- they just make the bed. They didn't clean our room very thoroughly -- we wore white socks in the room and the bottoms of them became very dirty. The grout in the shower was dark in spots and the shower felt old.

My home timeshare is nanea in Maui. This is my first time on Kauai. After reading so many bad reviews about bird poop, roosters, parking, bad service and restaurant I was expecting to be horribly disappointed. Especially since nanea is a great experience for us. The resort is clean. There are birds but I haven't seen bird poop on lawn or any where gross. In fact it was more clean than our nanea villa last time. The resort has a older Hawaiian feel, laid back, but still modern. Pool was great for us and our family. Great bbq stations and the restaurant was quick and easy to order drinks from. Good drinks too. The parking wasn't a problem and service was excellent. And I loved how it was much less crowded than Maui. This resort has constant seats open next to pool, and there wasn't a rush to wake up early to save seats. We go to Maui off seasons and it's still a problem! Our kids really have been enjoying our time and we love the island. So glad we decided to come. Oh and we haven't been working up by roosters (they don't even start till 6:30 and not loud with doors closed) and omg the activity coordinators and service/ management on this resort super attentive. They even came and had our kids do complimentary sand art and we did so many crafts. It's a very nice touch and loved the custom resort feel.

Struggle to give the three stars - First and foremost - THIS Is NOT a RESORT. This is a condo association slash time share with Holiday sized pools. Second - SERVICE THE ROOMS - we are here for 6 days and they do not service unless you ask - and when you ask - they forget. No direct beach access - definitely need a car to just go to a beach. Is in middle of a planned community. Just not a fan. Big rooms which are nice - but with not housekeeping or service it's like you are back home doing all your chores. Also - prepare to hike in from the back 40 for parking - in the rain. Maybe this should be two stars.... Not what I expect from the Westin Brand.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving Lunch!! Amazing service and food. Beautiful live music was also being played.

Located on the North Shore of Kauai, it's about a 35 minute drive from the Lihue airport, (with no traffic) resort is very clean and grounds are well maintained, staff is exceptionally courteous and make you feel like you're in the aloha state, not many islands still have that aloha spirit, pools were very nice and clean, they have a small bar at the pool area along with ping pong table and pool table, have bean bag toss. The rooms were nice and spacious, we had the one bedroom, has all the kitchen utensils, refrigerator, freezer, we were only here for 3 nights, didn't make use of the kitchen much, there is a foodland grocery store nearby if you wanted to pick up any groceries and cook yourself. I would recommend this resort for its a nice place to relax and enjoy the views, Hanalei is a small town nearby about 10 minutes away, beach is a little past the town, resort has no beach access.

Without a doubt, The Westin has some prime real estate property on the North Shore of Kauai. Lush gardens, expansive views of the ocean, all the amenities of a modern resort are at your fingertips: gym, spa, four pools to choose from, massage out in the gardens, private and romantic spots all over if you need to hide away from the kids. (this is a kid friendly resort) You'll be charged $$$ for the said amenities, without any breakfast included (unless you forgo housekeeping) but at least parking and internet are complimentary. The staff at the Westin did an awesome job accommodating our request to be transferred from a really dark location (2nd floor, building facing the East but the views are obstructed by tall palm trees and bushes) to a much better one facing the ocean AND the golf course on the West side. We still ended up spending 2 nights in the less than desirable room and 3 nights in the room with the better view. Initially, the check in person informed us we would get transferred ONLY if we pay an additional $100 a night. We declined, I mean, this isn't the St. Regis! Westin's rooms are all set-up with a kitchenette with a washer and dryer in the room. (it used to be a time share property) so unless you book one of the premium rooms, you're stuck with a queen sized bed. This is where the problems started for us and didn't really improved despite being transferred to the other room with a better view. I typically sleep great on Westin's signature Heavenly beds. But due to the size of the bed and the mattress being lumpy and lopsided, we didn't get ANY good night's sleep the whole 5 nights we stayed at the property. My hubby even asked for a rollaway bed on the last night but decided to just sleep on the sofa .. which we all know, for a guy who's 6'1", that's not gonna cut it. A nice perk for staying here though is you'll have access to their sister property St. Regis, who has a private beach. Just make sure to bring your own towels and not use their pool. Having said my peace and spending $400 a night at the Westin, we were entirely disappointed in the experience. We'll pass this 'hotel' next time and stay in the South Shore instead.

After returning home and having a few days to think about our stay at the Westin Princeville, I'd like to point out a few significant issues we had during our stay. We had big expectations before staying at the property. But also modest ones, that the would have normal hotel services, only to discover upon arrival that those would not be provided. We were not notified before-hand and would have likely made different travel plans if we had known about these issues. 1. No hotel shuttle. We purposely did not rent a car because we knew the hotel had a shuttle to the Princeville Village only to discover that it wasn't operational (well more accurately sitting in the parking lot). This forced us to hike back and forth to the village with food and drink, because the hotel was not serving food. 2. House keeping. When we arrived we were told that there would be no house keeping. That's the whole point of staying in a hotel. I would have stayed in an air b&b instead. I spent the extra money on a hotel because of the services that the hotel provides. 3. Food. Part of why we booked the hotel was because we wanted to chill by the pool and order drinks and food. We understand that the hotel is under staffed but you should have notified us, in advance, telling us to stock up on food and drinks before arriving (or something). Again, we didn't have a car so that was a big issue for us and I'm sure other folks. We spent A LOT of money on this hotel and we are proud Bonvoy members and only stay at Westin properties. This was a big disappointment. We understand the staffing issues the island is having but this should not come your customers expense. At this point we would not come back to the hotel and would not recommend to anyone else.
