I was very excited to spend my 53rd birthday at the Westin Punta Cana the 2nd week fo July. When I arrived with my daughters, we were amazed by the calm and relaxing vibe of the hotel, which we were seeking. The staffmember who first greeted us and got us all checked in was kind and enthusiastic. |I do feel, though, that a resort of this caliber where families are bound to travel should have a "family room" that sleeps three without charging for breakfast and an additional guest fee. My daughter paid for breakfast daily, and was charged a sizeable amount per day as an "extra guest." This seemed a bit much to me. That being said, the service at breakfast and the breakfast selections were terrific. |The biggest glitch in our visit, though, was when I put my earrings down on the dresser to change to go to the pool, and when I came back to the room to freshen up (approx two hours later, after the room had been serviced), they were gone. They were gold, yes, and I should have put them in the safe / remembered to put them back on my ears, but again, at a five-star resort, a guest should feel safely able to leave an item out without fearing it being stolen. I speak Spanish fluently (I am a Spanish teacher) and it pained me greatly to have to "snitch" on housekeeping, but I had to report it. The security folks were gracious and they did take my issue seriously, but as a Marriott resort, this sort of thing really should not happen. |The Dominican people are wonderful and hospitable.
