"Hugging the golden crescent of Playa Conchal on Costa Rica’s northern Pacific Coast, the 2,400-acre Westin Playa Conchal is an all-inclusive (Westin’s only one) that has put great care into navigating the needs of both families and guests who prefer a more peaceful experience. A kid-friendly club features designated suites, all-day assistance of a “family concierge,” and exclusive activities, while the adults-only Royal Beach Club is almost a resort-within-a-resort, with its own lounge and private pool. Both have access to the greater resort, including the huge lagoon-style pool with swim-up bar, Jacuzzi, 10 restaurants and five bars, and the fitness club. All of the rooms and suites have balconies or terraces, and the Royal Beach Club suites also have a large outdoor tub. Guests also have access to the par-71 golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr."

Westin Golf Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal | Condé Nast Traveler

"The Westin Golf Resort & Spa at Playa Conchal sports a pretty good setup for a week of all-inclusive goodness. There’s a Gilligan’s Island vibe here—a tropical oasis buried beneath acres of dense foliage—and it wouldn’t be quite the disaster if we couldn't leave. The Costa Rican resort, hitched up on the country’s North Pacific Riviera, sits amid a swarm of national parks and wildlife refuges, adjacent to an 18-hole golf course—so you'll have plenty to do if you’re feeling adventurous. We won’t judge, though, if you decide to stay local and work on your swing instead. The activities desk is the fairy godmother of the place, dishing out options like tequila tastings, dance lessons, and Tai Chi classes, or helping to set up a friendly—okay, a little competitive—game of beach volleyball. Again, this is an all-inclusive deal, so we suggest hitting up as many of the 12 restaurants as you can muster, though we like La Sabana, in particular. It’s a place with more local flavor, serving up traditionally Costa Rican rodizio under a thatched roof, to the beat of local tunes—so seize the fire-roasted meat-on-a-stick while the night's still young. The wood-fired oven pizzas at Spirula Pizza Bar, incarnated in both sweet and savory combinations, are worth an investigation (and a big 'ole bite). Our favorite feature, though, is the swim-up Triton Pool Bar at the main lagoon-style pool—you can’t beat guzzling a rum and coke in near zero-gravity conditions."

The grounds of this hotel is amazing. It felt huge and everywhere you looked was lush vegetation. Loved how many animals we saw including monkeys, iguanas, and more. The room service was great! We are almost all of our meals as room service, and always loved it. The beach was great with hotel provided long chairs and umbrellas. There are also people selling things on the beach (not associated with the hotel) which I highly recommend you try! We did a wave runner ($90 for 30 mins) and had a massage ($20 for 30 mins). You can’t beat those massage prices! We had Sarah at the green table do ours. The rooms were always cleaned spotless every day! The employees were always very friendly and helpful! Such a wonderful resort and can’t wait to return!

The Westin in Costa Rica is an outstanding property from start to finish. To upgrade to the premium package is only $35 a day and they did it for free for us along with upgrading our room. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, the food is outstanding and very fresh. For those reviews complaining about the food, it not being good or cultural, I’m not sure what the heck they were talking about! My only wish is I would have liked to see a better bar selection, especially the premium liquors. The beach is gorgeous and yes there are vendors but they are very friendly and only trying to provide for their families. The rooms are very modern, private and spacious. Housekeeping did an excellent job made our room feel clean and welcoming daily. The pools are like bath water and never get too crowded. The gym is top tier with a ton of great equipment and free weights. My wife had a massage and said they went above and beyond exceeding her expectations and also gave her well over the paid for time. 5/5 for this resort!

Stayed here for our honeymoon at the beginning of June 2025. Room was nice, wasn't superb but was nice - clean, well maintained and the bed was super comfortable! 👏 The food was great all over including the buffet and restaurants but keep in mind you can't make reservations anymore so go early or go late for best results. There's definitely something for everyone here to eat - we loved the to-go pizza spot and the avocado pizza 😋 The staff was nice, didn't approach us much or go out of their way, but we were overall impressed with the resort. We did go at the beginning of the rainy season so we did have quite a bit of rain, if you choose to do the same be ready to wait up early and hit the pool/ beach and be inside by like 1pm ha. Also! 👀 Beach side massages are $40/hr and don't be afraid to try it! We visited the purple tent and it was cash only but one of the best massages we've ever had. If were able to come back to CR we'll be back to this resort Cat cafe is right outside the resort and is a must see if you love kitties! Fun, good cause, close by and inexpensive

Exceptional service, really so much fun. If you’re gonna drink here I recommend requesting a few shots then mixing it in yourself. The drinks can be a bit light, but its to be expected. The beach is so much fun, I love huge waves. Pool is very well kept, and they have a swim up bar. Rooms are very clean and housekeeping is on top of it. The food can be hit or miss, but when it’s good it’s great. I wasn’t expecting the food to be as good as it was. I recommend the local flavors part of the Market buffet, very legit. Even with a language barrier, and me not speaking an ounce of Spanish, the staff is welcoming and accommodating. I really enjoyed my stay and it’s perfect whether you’re young or old. The wildlife is so cool here too!

Don’t get me wrong this place is nice. Great if if the price is right for you and I’m not sure how it compares to others in the area. The food is not great. You can find one or two good places but most are just filler places to go to when you can’t get into the good places. Service is good but expect to see a lot of people going to your room throughout the day. Different people for towels, room cleaning, room service, mini bar fill up, and whatever else. Just can be overwhelming if you’re a person who likes to tip because it’s a lot. Overall good place but it’s definitely the type of place that’s about the pictures and not the experience.

The Westin Conchal is a beautiful property with outstanding service, spacious and luxurious rooms, great food, an amazing pool, beautiful landscaping, and an incredible beach. It is very family-friendly with lots of activities. I would highly recommend a beach massage by the masseuses at the orange tables - very relaxing and professional. Costa Rica is a beautiful country with wonderful people. Our experience here has been excellent and our travel arrangements through Costco has been perfect from start to finish. Hats off to the staff at the Westin Conchal for making our family vacation a dream come true. Costa Rica - Pura Vida!!!

Currently at the end of our week long stay at this resort. Overall it’s been a great experience. The grounds are incredible and you get to see wildlife daily. The staff does a great job keeping everything clean and are always polite. The buffet is great, but the restaurants can be very hit or miss. One thing that was frustrating was the lack of food available near the pools. There are very few servers walking around taking orders, and the only option to grab a quick meal is a poolside grill that consistently only had 1 worker. This meant extremely long waits for a simple burger. He was doing the best he could, but needed more staff. The only other options for lunch are the buffet or restaurants which means having to pack up and leave the pool area. The beach here is great and there are local vendors selling items, offering massages, and booking excursions. We used Erik G in the blue google shirt for multiple excursions and he set us up with some amazing tours, I highly recommend him. The catamaran tour was the highlight of our trip. Overall the resort is great and has lots to offer, but the restaurant food could be improved.

This is a beautiful property. The best part of this property is definitely the staff. They are top notch, so welcoming, accommodating and kind. I can not praise Emanuel B. and Steven in the family portion of the resort enough. They both made us feel just like family! They were very kind and attentive, they went above and beyond on multiple occasions. Julia in the family pool is also a great asset, she really stepped up to help us when Emanuel was unexpectedly not there. The food and atmosphere were great at all the restaurants. This is a very large property and they do an excellent job with golf cart shuttles available all the time to help you get from one portion to the other. The property is very well kept and clean. We had a large family there, 11 people and 4 rooms. The resort went to great lengths to ensure our eldest family member/Abuela was moved to a room closer to the rest of us while the hotel was essentially completely booked. The staff went above and beyond the rest of the trip to take good care of her and ensure her safety. The location is beautiful with great beach access. If you are wanting to do inland excursions be prepared and expect a 2-3 hour drive to get there. Clearly this is of no fault of the property it is a beautiful beach location.
