We spent 5 days in an ocean view room at the Westin. I recommend upgrading to this view. The room was spacious and clean. The outside of the hotel could use some TLC in a few areas but the inside is lovely. There are plenty of restaurants and the food was good. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The location is nice and close to many attractions. We enjoyed being on top of the hill as there was always a nice breeze. The walk to the beach requires a staircase but it was an easy nice walk. The beach provided chairs, umbrellas, snorkeling gear, paddle boards and sailing. We participates in the night kayak tour which was a lot of fun. Some reviews indicted the service was not good but we found the staff to be too notch, friendly and eager to make our experience a good one. We would stay at the Weston again.

Beautiful Villa in Sunset Bay overlooking the water. The water is smooth like glass and very swim/snorkel friendly. Absolutely the best for families. Sunset Bay has two bedrooms. One with king bed and the other with two queen size beds. It had a full kitchen and a pull out sofa if needed. We walked right out on the beach.

We enjoyed our stay here overall. The rooms could use a bit of updating, but they were comfortable and worked well for us and it was quiet. The service was great for the most part, though we were disappointed that the concierge we were assigned wasn’t available to welcome us and never responded to our email about restaurant reservations we booked through him. However the first shuttle driver we had, Neil, was amazing and we loved the welcome drinks they provided after we got off the ferry. One downside was that the on-site restaurants closed pretty early, and because our room was a bit far from the main activity areas, we often had to rely on the shuttle. It would be nice if they had some late night options past 9pm. That said, taxis were easy to access, and despite a few inconveniences, we had a good stay and enjoyed our time here.

We just returned from another fantastic stay and are already counting down the days until next year’s visit!||We arrived via the 4:00 PM Westin ferry (which provides convenient service from the STT airport directly to the resort) and were greeted on the dock with the traditional welcome rum drink—a great start. Our room wasn’t ready when we checked in at the airport, so we needed to collect our keys upon arrival. After a quick conversation with the welcome team, they contacted management to confirm that our villa had been inspected. Within five minutes, we were on our way to Building 22 (third floor) in the Coral Bay section.||This location remains our favorite—it offers lovely views of the skyline and bay, while still being close to both the pool and the beach. The higher elevation adds a nice touch of privacy and scenery. The villa was clean and well-stocked. We did have to request a replacement coffee maker due to a leak, but the concierge had it swapped out within minutes—great service!||We received housekeeping on one of our two scheduled days, and on the second day, we were sent a message apologizing for the miss and letting us know we could reach out if we needed anything.||Our kids love spending downtime at the beach and pool when we're not off exploring the island. The activities team does a fantastic job keeping guests entertained throughout the week—special shout-out to Timmy, who’s the best! Some of our favorites included Boozy Bingo, Bobbing for Beer/Soda, Name That Tune, Beer & Nachos, Sundae Making, Wine Down Wednesday, and T-shirt tie-dyeing.|While the pool and hot tub are beginning to show their age, we’ve heard they're scheduled for renovation from August through October. There’s a chance it could be pushed to the next low season to align with updates to the Sunset Bay buildings, but personally, I hope it happens this year so everything’s fresh for our return next April.||The food on-site is decent. You can dine beachside at Snorkels, order from poolside servers, walk up to the bar, or use the QR code on your umbrella card to place orders. The nachos, chicken fingers, and salads are all solid options. That said, we highly recommend venturing into Cruz Bay to experience the many great restaurants—favorites include Lime Inn, Woody’s, and High Tide. If you’ve rented a car or are up for a taxi ride, the Windmill Bar is a must-visit for the views and atmosphere.||One quick tip: the pool bar doesn’t open until 10:30 AM, so if you’re craving an early Mimosa or Bloody Mary, it’s a good idea to stock up on vodka and mixers at Dolphin Market just down the road from the resort entrance.||Overall, it was a great trip. However, one issue stood out more during this visit: some guests not cleaning up after themselves. Empty food containers, half-full drink cups, and paper trash were left on the islands inside the pool, around the pool deck, and on the beach. When the Westin team does their Area Cleanup (AC) in the early evening, their focus is on resetting the space for the next morning—not on picking up after inconsiderate guests.

There are lots of good reasons to stay at this resort. But first, BE AWARE that you are automatically booked on a ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Westin provides the shuttle to Red Hook from the airport, then you have to wait for the ferry. Our wait was almost 3 hours and there was no food available at the ferry station. The ferry cost $139 per person round trip! We had thought this was included with our stay but only found out when we checked out that it had cost us $280 for the 2 of us to get to the island then back to the airport. The local ferry from Charlotte-Amalie to Cruz Bay is only $13 per person so we feel like we were taken advantage of by being scheduled to take the Westin shuttles without being told it would cost such a ridiculous amount. It only costs $3 to take your car to St. John which makes $139 even more insulting. ||The resort itself is quite nice and we enjoyed it very much. The rooms are well-stocked for a long stay and are very comfortable and clean. The landscaping of the resort is gorgeous! The pool and beach areas are really nice and roomy. Kayaks, paddle boards, and small sail boats can be used for no charge but if you want to use 2 beach chairs and an umbrella, it will cost you $35. Pool chairs are free though. Snorkels restaurant is excellent with lots of healthy, well-prepared options. Lemongrass is a step above that but be aware that it is closed Mon/Tue/Wed. There are free shuttles running throughout the resort every day and evening. Taxis are always available to take you into Cruz Bay with rates running about $7/person one way. It's only a mile away but it's very hilly and too narrow to walk safely. All in all, we recommend the Westin St. John Resort but next time we will stay somewhere with easier access.

I agree with some of the other comments. This was our first visit, and hoping to have an enjoyable relaxing experience. The room was a nice floor plan and worked well from that aspect. The facility was nice and had nice amenities, they just weren’t maintained very well (except the landscaping). The pool has a lot of caulking hanging out, and just general disrepair. The employees just don’t seem to care (with the exception of the bartenders at the pool). We didn’t have cold water for the first 3 days. They had conflicting instructions on how to do things, such as get rid of the trash in your room. I called as instructed (on a phone system that barely worked) and set it outside as instructed. No one picked it up and the animals got in it. They called later and asked if anyone picked it up. I told them “no” and they said again they would send some. Still, no one came, and we picked it up the next day. I don’t mind paying for good food, but we paid a lot, and very rarely had anything good. The first night we arrived, my daughter and I went down around 8 pm to get dinner. We were told the restaurant was no longer seating as they were closing. This was the only place that was “open” and so we weren’t sure what to do. The hostess said she she could give us something to go, which we did. Then three other families came in and had the same issue. One was able to get seated, apparently the hostess just didn’t know they were still open and serving for another hour. Once we got our food, mine was awful, ahi tuna that was supposed to be seared, was fully cooked, and over cooked at that. My daughter’s flatbread wasn’t much better.

This resort was nice and very convenient to the water ferry. They had lots of shuttle taxis to take you around to all areas of the island. There were also golf carts on the site to take you to and from the parking area. The hotel was very well located with a wonderful, clean beach area. The beach area did have some water traffic but it was not disturbing. There wasn't any snorkeling activity however. They provided paddleboards and kayaks for guests only. The pool was large, clean and lots of fun. They had bingo and water aerobics and several planned activities throughout the week. Towels were provided and lounge chairs and umbrellas were plentiful. The only disappointment was the cleanliness of the unit upon arrival and throughout the stay. The floors and the carpet were not clean when we arrived. The bathroom and kitchen area were clean, so we were fine. We were there 7 days. Our sheets were never changed. On the fifth day of our stay, we came in to find several clean towels, but the dirty towels were there throughout our stay. When I mentioned it at checkout, I was told we should have called for service, so keep that in mind. Just disappointing to find Westin so unobservant of their guests needs. With that being said, we would choose to stay there again since we are owners, due to the pool and beach area.

This is my first trip down here since buying a timeshare here, and now believe it to be a huge mistake! The grounds are adequately taken care of, the pool hasn't been cleaned all week and I haven't come across a friendly staff member yet. Twice I have tried to get answers regarding services at the property and both times have been a less than pleasant experience. If you have the opportunity to consider staying at this property, I highly suggest looking elsewhere. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but have to when it's this bad!!
