I can't say I'm a HUGE fan of this hotel, but what keeps my husband and I coming back is the overall package.
Pros:
Wonderful location. It's located in Downtown Napa, therefore walking distance to Oxbow Market, and several of the restaurants in the area. Also it being in Downtown Napa, this is pretty central to the wine region in general, which is a quick drive to Yountville, St. Helena, etc. My husband is a Marriott guy, so this is probably the best and somewhat decently priced option in Napa. There are more inexpensive options, but they are way farther away, and honestly it takes away from the Napa experience. If you're from far away, even if just staying in Napa for the weekend, it is worth the money to stay in this central area to really enjoy wine country. As much as I hate the Napa Wine Train, what I will say is that this hotel is literally located across the street from the launching point. So if you somehow got tourist trapped into this experience, this is a good hotel to be stationed at.
Hopefully you're also a Marriott Bonvoy member, because the welcome gift here is a free breakfast, which is a voucher good for a $20 entree at their downstairs restaurant (confusingly not part of the Marriott group). This restaurant surprisingly has a great breakfast sandwich item with English muffin from Model Bakery!!! What a find!!! (usually hotel restaurants are no big deal). Speaking of restaurants, La Toque is located within the hotel, which was a 1 star Michelin restaurant for many years (only recently lost the star within the past year or so). My husband and I dined at La Toque maybe 1.5 years ago, and really enjoyed it!!
The other pro is that each time we've stayed here, we always get upgraded to the 1 Bedroom Suite with view of the swimming pool. The room has a kitchenette, dining room table, and balcony, not that we ever need the space. The lighting always seems to be weird in these rooms though, I'm guessing because the roof hanging over the balcony hides the lighting, making it quite dark. The rooms here are a little dated too, and build-grade quality - nothing special like a St. Regis or Ritz Carlton, but decent for a weekend trip here.
The common areas are nice though, with a nice looking swimming pool, and fire pit area, which I can imagine is really pleasing at night especially during the warm summer months. Also, parking is a huge plus. Do yourself a favor, save the $25 and park in the street, which is steps outside the hotel parking lot. It's safe in Napa, and you aren't saving any distance really.
Cons:
The price can be pretty steep - it's no easy cost to consume. The rooms are a little dated, and really nothing special, so therefore it makes it hard to justify the cost for the room itself.
Overall, I think the package of this hotel is good. The location, being able to get an upgrade, free breakfast voucher, free parking (across the street), nice common areas, are a wonderful plus. Just rooms and price overall a little high, but unfortunately this hotel knows its self worth.
