The freshest fish in town! This is a gem and highly recommended. Two "shops" 1) select and purchase your fish, the 2) the cafe dining area to eat and get coffee. We (4) had the Snapper and chips (4x) and ate there in the cafe section. Can find a table inside or outside, with the view of the fishing harbour, the mangroves, and out to the bay. Of course, you can purchase fresh fish to take home! Yes, highly recommended. Thank you.

Great to sit out on the wharf for some fish n chips watching seabirds & locals. Had fish of the day (crumbed trevally) which was only $15 but pretty ordinary, and waaaay too many chips for us, but "c'est la vie" - the setting made up for that

Great pit stop. The ability to eat out on the wharf and enjoy the scenery was worth it. Lots of families and seniors enjoying fish and chips. Mussel Chowder was ok, nothing special. The smoked fishcake had an unpleasant sour taste to it. Lemonfish was tasty.

First time eating here. Was very lovely. Missed a slice of lemon sadly and the ketchup was very little for one dollar. That is the reason for 4 not 5 stars. Fish itself tasted great and chips were also good. Portion size is spot on!

We buy fish n chips from you every couple of months. In the past, your food has been lovely - but NOT TODAY! The food was very oily, and the fish was GROSS - see photos - and inedible - leaving a nasty fishy taste in our mouths, alongside the oil. For the $34 we spent, we feel ripped off! The battered sausage was lovely, on a positive note.

Freshest Snapper! Yummy scallops, oysters and chips. Squid rings were processed .

Best fish & chips I've ever had at a beautiful location, showing its best on a crisp autumn afternoon. No warning about how big your sausages are, so shocked and delighted all at once haha.

Yelp
Not at all hard to find in the small town of Thames at the edge of the Coromandel Peninsula. It doesn't look like much at all; low-scale and simple, but apparently quite the favorite with the locals for their excellent fish and chips. It is located on the oldest existing wharf in the area and it allows for stunning views of the water and trees. It was just the place for us to have dinner after our drive from Auckland. At this type of restaurant you order and pay at the counter; About 30 minutes later, someone comes and yells out the order number on your receipt and you receive your meal wrapped in paper at the table. The food came so hot that it maintained it's temperature throughout the meal. Both the fish and chips (fries) were absolutely delectable; definitely among the best we've ever had. As far as we were concerned, there was no necessity for sauces to accompany the meal, but if you wanted, you would need to count on paying a few extra $$. An interesting phenomenon we noticed was the extreme low-tide, which left the boats in the small marina stuck in the mud. Apparently, when the tide comes in, the water level easily rises 12-15 ft. and laps up to the side of the wharf. It appeared to us that Kiwi parents are very comfortable letting their kids balance on the 6" wide ledge, but the thought of a 5-year old tumbling down to the mud below nearly made my heart stop a few times. All in all, we highly recommend this place for a simple but delicious meal for a reasonable price and a view that can't be beat.
