Our stay at The Wheatbaker was nothing short of extraordinary, and I am writing this as a heartfelt thank you to a team that truly embodies “The Art of Hospitality.”
We stayed from February 2 through February 15 for our wedding, traveling from the United States, and from the very first email exchange to the final moment of departure, every detail was handled with care, professionalism, and genuine warmth.
Before we even arrived in Nigeria, the communication was prompt, reassuring, and thorough. As a traveler with medical considerations and many logistical questions, this meant everything to me. Every concern was answered with patience and clarity, which immediately put me at ease about traveling so far from home.
Arrival at the airport can be overwhelming for first-time visitors arriving in Lagos, Nigeria, but the hotel arranged transportation that was seamless and incredibly well coordinated. A transportation manager was in contact with me even before I stepped off the plane, guiding me through each step until I reached baggage claim. A team was waiting as soon as I collected my luggage, assisting with every bag and coordinating directly with the driver. From the moment they received my luggage at the airport, I did not touch it again until I unpacked in my room. That level of organization and care made me feel secure from the very first moment.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was welcomed with a refreshing African style apple drink and warm smiles from every staff member. Check in was personal and comfortable. I was seated and cared for as an honored guest.
What truly sets The Wheatbaker apart is the deeply personalized service. The staff recognized us by name, anticipated needs before we voiced them, and consistently treated us with kindness and respect. Fresh cookies in the evenings, fruit baskets, handwritten welcome notes, and warm greetings every time we passed through the lobby made the experience feel intimate and special.
Another detail travelers should know is the complimentary laundry service. This was a tremendous blessing during a long international stay. The hotel will wash and return your clothing with care, which made packing far easier than expected. If I had known this beforehand, I could have brought fewer items and relied on their service. It is a thoughtful offering that adds real comfort, especially for guests traveling from abroad.
Although the pool and gym were still under development during our stay, the available amenities, including concierge assistance and a spa, ensured we lacked nothing.
What impressed me most is that this level of five star service was offered at a value that would be difficult to find in the United States. The Wheatbaker delivers luxury, comfort, and personalized care in a way that feels sincere and genuine.
We left with full hearts, grateful for a team that helped make one of the most important moments of our lives even more beautiful. We are already planning to return for a future anniversary and hope to stay in the very same room.
If you are traveling to Lagos, whether alone, with family, or for a special occasion, I cannot recommend The Wheatbaker highly enough. This is not just a hotel stay. It is an experience of true hospitality.
