Currently sitting at breakfast, which is cereal, milk, and raisins (we were told “European style” parfaits are made with milk). We are the only two guests, yet the only staff member who is here is nowhere to be found. I’ve had to run around to look for him every moment of this stay (I even had to wait at the door, knocking and ringing the doorbell, for several minutes, before I could even check in), and the other workers around the house just act like we don’t exist. It seems like the house is preparing for a large event, but if caring for two guests would be too much in the process, I figured reservations would not have been available, but that is just my opinion. The house is gorgeous, historic and beautiful. Like other comments say, it’s not the Marriott, so the blinds don’t open, and the TV is small, but its charm is nice, and the location is super convenient! There are so many details tucked away in this place, and it’s so rare to be able to stay in a place like this. If the staff cared more about their current guests, maybe this wouldn’t have been such a sad visit. $400+ for a night here seems kind of ridiculous, if this is the treatment we get.

The bed was most comfortable. The location was perfect. Off street parking. The gardens were beautiful and inviting. We had the entire common room to ourselves in the evening, we played checkers and had cocktails inside because it was raining outside. Breakfast the next morning was perfectly delicious. The whole stay was relaxing and refreshing.

Beautiful Mansion in the heart of Chicago right by McCormick Place. The bed and bedding were super comfortable. My only complaint was Netflix wouldn't work. Breakfast was fantastic. I would definitely stay there again.

My girlfriends and I were so excited to stay in the Wheeler Mansion this past weekend. We were enjoying some girl time and going to the musical "Hairspray". Well the mansion did not disappoint! This is a beautifully elegant boutique hotel. Each room had something different to offer as far as artwork and decor. To the grand foyer and beautiful antique pieces that lined the living room and dining room, it was such a joy to stay there. David the Concierge was excellent, very attentive, friendly and also drove us to the theater. David also suggested for us to eat at the Pilsen Yards for dinner. The food and service were excellent. I can't say enough about our time there, we will definitely go back, plus we want to see it in the summer because the grounds look just beautiful.

This is a beautiful Historic Hotel in a nice neighborhood within walking distance of a lot of history. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable, and the grounds are peaceful and relaxing. The hotel has bicycles you can use, which is wonderful. Festival was the hotel manager, david, who treats everyone like family. He noticed I had a flat tire, texted me about it, and then filled the tire with air and gave me a great suggestion on where to get it fixed a few blocks away. I also appreciated the parking spot that came with the room. Would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend.

A really good choice. Know what you're getting into - this isn't the Hyatt, nor is it the Holiday Inn. There are no in-room fridges or microwaves. The floors creak, and the bulbs don't all work. There are no vending machines, and no elevators. But what you ARE getting! A quiet place or rest & relaxation. There are 11 rooms, so there aren't crowds, there is no noise to deal with, everyone who is here belongs here. There's a delightful gated patio/lawn area in back - perfect for relaxing. There are bikes for cruising. The building & rooms are clean, beautifully antique (predates the Chicago Fire!) and the service is great. David cares about his guests, and does a stand up job as host. I'll definitely be back!

Had a great time visiting The Wheeler Mansion with friends for a girls weekend..We arrived Saturday afternoon, checked in, had a snack and off we went!!! First a Matinee at the CIBC Theater, which was just a short ride away. Then a great dinner and drinks at Pilsen Yards!!! David, the Manager at The Wheeler recommended the restaurant for dinner and secured our reservation!! It was such a great place!! |Breakfast is included with your stay so no need to find a place!! We all were able to place our orders the night before, it was so delicious and convenient!!! |We had plenty of time and space to visit in their beautiful sitting room!!!|I would highly suggest a stay at The Wheeler when visiting Chicago!!! It’s a hidden gem!!!
