"Linden's Local Eatery, The Whippet, is a Winner! One early morning, with close to zero sleep and after a quick photo job in the area, I made my way to the Whippet in Linden as I'd heard it was awesome. On walking in, I was quite surprised as to how busy it was during the week. I found a spot at the back in the corner and ordered a cup of hot choc and something warm to eat. The hot choc arrived with a cute little piggy in the foam! That made my day :) The breakfast was pretty good, but I think I need to go back for a lunch to test out their food offering a bit better... and also when I'm more awake, But as it's stands the hot choc was really nice (just be careful of the really high coaster) and the breakfast was pretty decent. So if you're in the area and looking for something to fill your tummy, make your way to the Whippet. Here's a little tip: The guys at The Whippet manufacture their own furniture out of recycled wood for use in the store and then change it out every few months, so they sell the furniture at decent prices to make way for the new stuff. Keep an eye out and you could net yourself some well priced wooden furniture!"
The food here is very tasty and definitely worth trying. The restaurant is usually busy, which shows how popular it is, but service is quick and efficient. The only downside is that the staff tend to rush you to leave once you’re done, which makes the experience feel a bit hurried.

This was my first visit to the place, and I loved it.
Whether you prefer a nice coffee or a more relaxed drink, you can enjoy it in this cosy atmosphere.
You have the option to sit at a spacious indoor table, by the wide-open windows (as I did), or at a terrace table.
The staff are friendly, and the establishment is clean.
With a film lab nearby, this charming venue will definitely become a regular stop for me in the near future.

Excellent coffee, fun breakfast menu with many things I would like to try.
The home made tomato relish was the standout for my breakfast, but the eggs were also perfectly pushed and the rye was softly toasted, something not many places get right.
I would have made it 5 ✨ if it wasn't for the outside staff who failed to guide us, just saying "sit anywhere",, but we were happy that we pushed on, and inside we were welcomed.

Charming place for a lovely brunch. Food is on point, service is fast and friendly, and the atmosphere is suited for any occasion - social or business. Would love for the coffee to have a bit more depth.

What a wonderfully run establishment. Very rare to find businesses being run personally by the actual owners! But this is what makes this establishment such a huge success! Friendly staff to greet you and make you feel so welcome from the moment you step in! Service was fantastic, where teamwork between waiters ensures that things run smoothly and your every need is attended to. The food…? Fabulous, delicious, well presented and reasonably priced for the level of quality you get. I had the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, my dad had the spinach and feta breakfast quiche (photos below). Eggs were perfectly poached to medium as requested and the English muffins were light and tender. Never took a picture of the coffee, cheesecake or the chocolate pastry I had, but they were all just as delicious as the mains. PS the fact that they are pet friendly was an added bonus!!! Thank you for the best breakfast experience ever! Well done to the entire team!

Lovely ambiance, decor but only 1 heater.. service was great....very unique menu but the Korean buns that I had was just overwhelmingly saucy... I thought it would be bao buns so a bit disappointed, pistachio cappuccino was too sweet- normal coffee with pistachio syrup and pistachio sprinkled. The bobotie omelette was better. Please consider bringing back the corn bread

Pretty fitting that The Whippet won 89th best coffee shop in the world for 2025 and that I'd rate their coffee 8.9/10. Their signature Ethiopian+Costa Rican blend was well extracted and I enjoyed the flavour; there was, however, no traces of crema even on the sides of the cup of my black americano and the coffee was not served hot but rather the lower regions of warm. More effort could go into warming the cups sufficiently and using hotter water. On a hot note, this seems to be "THE" cafe to be at in the Linden area, full of life and vibe, there was about 50 tables of which 85% were occupied on a Sat morning and thus I commend the staff for smoothly finding us a seat. Service and the pain au chocolat was great! I have heard, though, that the actual meals could do with a bit of perfection (for such a celebrated cafe) but will leave that up to the individual and management to handle.
Lovely street and shops/cafes in the area to visit. We will be back.
