The White Swan Inn

I stayed overnight at The White Swan as part of a shooting party and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The hotel is dog-friendly, though you do need to book one of the higher-priced rooms — which, to be fair, was very nice indeed. Thoughtful touches for dogs included a bed, bowl, treats and poo bags, which were much appreciated.|The room itself was excellent, with a cracking large bath and a great shower in a wonderfully warm bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable, ensuring a very good night’s sleep. Tea and coffee were provided as expected, though it would have been nice to have fresh coffee or coffee bags rather than Nescafé instant.|If you’re dining with a dog, meals are taken in the snug rather than the main dining room. This turned out to be a real bonus, as the snug has a lovely fireplace and is arguably a nicer, more atmospheric place to sit. The bar offers a very good selection, and we were particularly pleased to find Hennessy XO available — a great touch.|Breakfast was perfect, rounding off the stay beautifully. Most of all, the staff in both the bar and restaurant could not have been more welcoming or attentive.|I very much look forward to returning next year.

We met up with friends for one night. Had a room in the courtyard which was very nice with every thing spot on. Had our evening meal in the dining room. The young staff attending us were a delight. Made sure we had everything we needed without being rushed. The meal itself was delicious and well presented. Good choice for breakfast. We checked out but were able to leave our car parked until the afternoon allowing us to explore the Castle and church. We will return

I wanted to have a surprise event for my wife’s 65th birthday and wanted a small intimate event space for twenty people.||I contacted Simon and Kathleen at The White Swan Inn here in Pickering. They were both super helpful and completely understood everything I wanted to make this a momentous evening.||On arrival, everything was set up perfectly in a beautiful room, with a lovely fire, and a huge table set up for everyone. Dinner service was looked after by Jessica, and we couldn’t have had a more engaging, caring person to look after every little detail. Supreme service, so a hue shout out to her.||The people helping her, fast efficient and so professionally friendly.||Now the food. I consulted with Simon and Kathleen about the menu. The Chef organised a menu that was designed to meet everyone’s need, I had the lamb that literally melted in your mouth with a burst of flavour.||I can recommend the people at The White Swan

We were in Pickering to see the Flying Scotsman on the North York Moors Railway and wanted a convenient hotel. You can’t beat the White Swan on the High Street for a perfect location. ||The service was exceptional from the moment we arrived (the duty manager carried our bags upstairs); to the bar staff, to the restaurant servers; to the time when we left (even the housekeeping staff carried our bags to the car.) Staff training must have been excellent.||Parking was very easy round the side of the hotel and WiFi worked well in all areas.||We ate in the restaurant one night, lovely food and brilliant service. We also had breakfast at £20 per person – quite dear we though but the choice was extensive. They even had Marmite when we asked for it!||The ambience in the upper bar, with comfy chairs and warming fire was superb with lovely beers and fine wines. Note: fine wines and supreme service again comes at a price – expect to pay at lease £30 for a bottle of wine!||All in all a lovely stay.

We had a wonderful overnight stay here arriving in very heavy rain. 2 young staff were very welcoming and helpful with parking access to our room, also carrying our bags. Our room was spacious, very clean, lovely and warm, comfortable bed, well equipped bathroom - everything well planned for the comfort of guests.|We didn't eat in the hotel as we were meeting friends out, but the breakfast was very good with pleasant service.|How we loved reading the information pack - best ever - very clever and highly amusing.|Well done to all the team. We will definitely stay again when we visit family in Yorkshire.

What a delight. Lovely old building in the middle of the town with its own sylvan car park. The hotel is quaint and our room was spacious with an upstairs bedroom and a downstairs bathroom and 'living room' with a TV in both. Comfortable bar area and a warm welcome from the staff. One lady in particular seemed to be everywhere and doing everything efficiently all the time, with a smile. A lovely breakfast room and a commendable breakfast menu. especially the boiled eggs and soldiers. Plates could be warmer, as cold be the coffee. Our evening meal was a tale of excellent and a unresolved problem.

Booked for our Sunday lunch, good job to as they were packed, one of the best Sunday lunches in a long time, Roast lamb in the menu too, what a treat!! Beautiful flavours and the kind of gravy you can just drink!! Lovely house Italian red wine, super lovely staff, especially the FOH guy that lived in SA, sorry didn’t get your name, lovely conversations with him. Highly recommend this pub, food, drinks, ambience and service all spot on!! And the chefs clearly know what they’re doing! Will be back, thankyou guys x

Called in for food, not booked, but we were accommodated. Lovely menu choices. Very pleasant staff, excellent service and delicious food. Would definitely recommend and we'll return another time.

A great roaring log fire (it's November) a crisp Pinot Grigio and great food. I'll say no more!

After change of the management the restaurant is no longer worth a visit: poor quality, high prices!
