Yelp
Hotel was kind of okay.
Check-in was a little weird in that they couldn't seem to find my reservation and it took about 15 minutes, but was told there was a new system implemented on the very day we checked in, so I understand that transition is not fun, but..
Cutstomers should be able to trust the hotel site with what the hotel identifies as being provided - if they don't have things, they need to update their amenities/offerings. Bed had a severe dip in the middle, no working fridge (lost about $25-$30 on perishable food going bad because didn't know the fridge didn't work). Also lighting in room, at least one light didn't work. No robe, no HBO, furniture substantially knicked up and one of the most frustrstrating things are their outlets - you cannot plug in anything and have it fit tight to charge or keep a device on. As you can see in other reviews the housekeeping services are a little bizarre, especially if you're staying more than one day, but it really wasn't an issue for us personally.
Location is hard to argue with, but something needs to happen here in the way of upgrades. Not every hotel has to be super modern, but if you're an older hotel, you still need to bring something to the table to attract travelers and make your customers want to come back. If the 1990s were the last time they renovated, it may be time to put in new outlets, add some USB plugs, get working refrigerators/light, add microwaves to room and upgrade furniture, even if it's one room at a time.
Those issues seem like enough, but here's the biggest issue -
They overcharged me $227!
I booked and paid thru 3rd party on 3/12 and then stayed two nights 4/5 and 4/6. I had gold member status and the perk offered by the hotel as $12 parking credit and front desk and I discussed with them and they were aware. Parking is $50/day unlimited in and out. I should have been charged $88 (with my $12 off). They charged my incidental card $100 for parking and then a second separate charge of $215 like they charged me again for the stay when it was already paid for. I waited a few days for the pending charges to fall off, but then they posted. So, then I had to do a bunch of extra work to reach out to the hotel. First person I talked to tried to put it back on the 3rd party, but it wasn't as the bank ledger showed it came directly from the hotel. They then told me I had to talk to billing, so I had to call back. They also provided me an email, which I emailed showing my receipt from 3/12 from third party payment and then their posted charges, charging me double. Nobody from their hotel followed up with me at all. It's not like its a slight overcharge, it's $215 overcharge - you think that would warrant immediate action. The third party booking agency called on my behalf too as I provided them all of the documentation (which they didn't have to do, but I appreciate the effort). Called again the following day (now 5 days after checkout). Finally got connected to someone who seems to truly be looking into it. If it is not resolved today - I will begin the dispute process with my bank.
What makes me so upset though, is I shouldn't have to do all of this extra work for a booking I paid for in advance. It should have been easy. One $88 charge for parking and then any incidental holds release on the day we checked out (as we were very clean and no additional charges would have been warranted). And when you realized you overcharged your customer that much, whomever did it should be able to credit/refund easily - I should not have had to be bounced from person to person. If you can mischarge me that easily, it should be just as easy to fix it - they shouldn't get to hold "hostage" this much of my money!
My pending refund is not resolved. It has to be resolved as I won't just go quietly into the night over this much money. Will update WHEN it is resolved with outcome and how long it ultimately took.
