The Wild Oscar

"How did it strike you on arrival? The exterior of this boutique hotel—all stacked bricks and concrete arranged in harsh lines—looks like a modern, shared work space. But step inside and it's like a Wes Anderson movie come to life. Case in point: The display of antique-looking room keys hanging on a plush velvet wall behind the reception desk. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Expect a lot of young entrepreneurs or creative business types toting multiple Mac gadgets. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The rooms are spacious and modern, but still homey—like a young entrepreneur's New York City loft apartment, filled with leather, metal, dark woods, and funky Edison bulb lights. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Comfortable beds are topped with Egyptian-cotton sheets How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? Each room has a proper espresso machine and a minibar full of gourmet goodies. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The large bathrooms have marble walls, eye-catching tile work, and huge showers. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Don't worry, you can still connect all your gadgets to the free Wi-Fi. Room service: Worth it?Burgers, steak, eggs Benedict—expect all kinds of international staples. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The hotel has a small fitness center with the workout basics. If you're in Mexico City on business, there are also large private work spaces and meeting rooms. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? Many rooms have large private terraces and personalized concierge service." - Susannah Rigg

"Polanco has accrued quite a bit of cultural capital over the decades, initially as a hub for Mexico City’s intelligentsia, then as a frontier for boutique development, and increasingly these days as a hunting ground for club-hoppers and paparazzi. The next step is the Wild Oscar: something a little more businesslike, but no less stylish, globalized exec-chic fluidly transitioning between a series of loose- (or no-) tie environments." - Tablet Hotels

Google
The Wild Oscar is a solid boutique hotel in a very convenient Polanco location. It’s close to Reforma, Masaryk, restaurants, and museums, which makes getting around the city easy.||The rooms are clean, and well maintained. Beds are good, and the overall design is modern without feeling overdone. It’s a nice place to come back to after a long day in the city.||Staff are friendly and helpful, and check-in/check-out was smooth. The restaurant is also a plus — breakfast and meals are well prepared and convenient if you don’t want to go far.

The Wild Oscar is a wonderful boutique hotel! They have such attention to detail. The Constance (the restaurant) serves a great breakfast (the French toast is amazing!) and the bar makes excellent drinks. Shout out to the chefs Erika and Uriel as well as Juan, Guadalupe, and Jessica - they have given stellar service! The ladies at the front desk (I’m so sorry, I didn’t catch your names) were also incredibly helpful with recommendations and making reservations. Highly recommend!!!

Great location - short walk to restaurants and shopping in Polanco - and walkable to Museo Anthropologie and Historia Natural. We stayed for a few days with our college age daughter in a Terrace suite (be sure to ask for the sofa bed at the time of booking). Room is well appointed and comfy. Will recommend to friends.

Google
Excellent stay at The Wild Oscar, Polanco The Wild Oscar is a fabulous boutique hotel in the heart of Polanco. The location is perfect—quiet, beautiful, and steps away from great restaurants, cafés, and boutiques. The food at the hotel was the best I had in Mexico, and the hospitality was exceptional. Chef Erika, Jessica, Gerardo, and the front-desk team went above and beyond to make the stay memorable. A truly outstanding experience—I can’t wait to return.

As a longtime Tablet Hotels customer, this hotel did not disappoint. Friendly staff, amenities including a solid gym, made the stay worthwhile. Decor and ambiance give a quiet and relaxed vibe and the location is GREAT! Look forward to coming back 🥂

Google
My room didn’t have any windows- I stayed with a friend and her room was gorgeous- larger, two huge windows, natural light- We paid the same price. If they book you in room 306 just keep in mind it’s cramped and dark compared to other rooms and should be a lower price. Other than that it was fine, good location.

Yelp
We spent two nights at the end of a vacation week in Mexico City. Loved our stay here. The hotel is creatively and artfully decorated. Has everything you need. The location is amazing -- just two blocks to Masaryk Avenue which has all the high-end shops, walking distance to a ton of cafes and restaurants, and a few blocks to Chapultepec Park and the Anthropology museum. We loved finishing our nights with a glass of 2018 Clos de Lom Isidra at the Saks restaurant outdoor pavilion which is 3 doors from the hotel. Would've of loved to know if the bottled water and mini bar snacks were free but not a huge biggie. TThe ambience is artfully elegant but playful, restful and intimate -- a much better experience than the big chains. Breakfast was included and was really special. The waiter was super nice in making our lattes and answering questions. And i know this isn't a reason to chose a hotel, but their Avocado Toast was the best i've ever had and truly a delight. The olive-something bread was lightly toasted on the outside and soft in the middle, the avocado was so creamy and flavorful (but that's mostly Mexico), the charred cherry tomatoes were beautiful and the olive oil was the best i've had on food -- light and flavorful.

Yelp
Super cute boutique hotel in the middle of Planco. Very cute. Very small restaurant and bar areas. Maybe sits about 20 people max inside and out. The rooms are nice and well decorated. We got an upgraded room on the first floor which has a roomy entrance and a couch. There is a nespresso machine in the room that gives it an extra half a star for me. Everyone in the hotel is very nice but that's the same for everyone in Mexico City. Breakfast is included and there is 6-7 options on the menu with a full coffee bar.

Yelp
A great hotel in a chic, hidden enclave of Polanco. While the place is appointed with the expected touches of modern sensibility and elegant comfort throughout, it's the staff that really makes this place. I can honestly say that each employee with whom we interacted over our six-day sojourn are warm, capable, and genuinely full of human concern. Case in point: after my boyfriend and I undertook an otherwise fun and delicious hosted crawl thru some highly-held taquerias and a mezcaleria, I came down with a bad case of something delicately known as "traveller's illness." Upon hearing of my condition, The Wild Oscar's manager and staff sprung to heroic action, first insisting on engaging a qualified doctor to come to my aid, and then running out to the farmacia to purchase the prescription meds I would need per the doctors advice. And knowing that I'd sent my poor boyfriend off on another pre-paid tour (one of two I ended up missing due top my illness) for the afternoon, the front desk and housekeeping staff called and stopped in with offers of tea, fruit, dry toast, additional towels, and the extra toilet paper that really saved my ass (yes, literally) that day and the next. Iris, Daniel, Eduardo, and a few others made the ordeal bearable for us, and I can never thank them enough for going above and beyond for us with such grace, good humor, and dedicated followup. They really made me feel I wasn't alone and so far from home while missing out on all the fun and cultural immersion I'd so been looking forward to during this, our first visit to Mexico City. From here on out, The Wild Oscar will be our home in CDMX.

Yelp
An amazingly classy and well-appointed boutique hotel in the heart of Polanco. Stayed here for a few days and really enjoyed it...classy rooms with just about everything you'd need for a short stay (albeit decorated in darker shades of color, which I personally I love) What I truly loved was the service and how hospitable the staff was. When I realized I forgot my shaving cream, they sent one of their staff out to grab me some shaving gel, unprompted. If you ask for something it is brought up amazingly quick. It is close to some amazing restaurants--Pujol and otherwise--as well some excellent shopping. Hope to stay here again on the next visit!

Yelp
This is a fantastic boutique hotel, centrally located in the Polanco district. The hotel is stylish , the rooms are well done and big enough with fantastic bathrooms. Best of all the staff is incredible, willing to help in whatever way they can.

Yelp
I loved this hotel. It's a smaller boutique hotel in an amazing location. The overall atmosphere was great- the Cafe/Bar downstairs was very nice and all of the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. The room was a bit smaller, but well decorated and clean and I especially enjoyed the private balcony that overlooked the street. It also felt very secure and safe. I felt that everyone who worked there went above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. The rates were also very reasonable. Would absolutely stay again.
