The Wildbirch Hotel - JDV by Hyatt

Pros: This small hotel is close to the airport and you can get an Uber to it for less than $15. It’s also walkable to the train station if you’ll be going down to Seward. The staffers were friendly and the room was very clean. We booked a harbor-view room but were given a room that faced a wall and had a loud road next to it, but as soon as we brought this to the attention of the front desk, they quickly gave us a new room. Cons: It’s not a quiet area if you’re looking for a really good night’s sleep. The hotel has a busy local highway that runs behind and alongside it, so you will likely hear trucks and motorcycles going by. You will definitely hear airplanes; big ones and small ones, and they’re loud, but those go by less often. Also, a “harbor-view” room is really just a view of the hotel’s parking lot and the local highway. So if you’re looking for a really quiet hotel, you may want to stay at one further south than 4th Street. This may lessen the traffic noise, but I suspect you’ll still hear the planes. I also recommend requesting a room with an actual bathroom door. We had a room with a sliding door on the bathroom and due to the gaps, it was almost like having no door at all. You can hear everything.

I dearly love this hotel! After years of struggling to find a regular place to stay in Anchorage that is not stressful, I am so pleased to discover WildBirch. I will be staying here every chance I get. The rooms are newly renovated with unique and tasteful decor, the room and linens were super clean, it has been quiet both times I have stayed, and the hotel staff is very helpful. I love the scent of the bath products! Hyatt itself leaves some to be lacking in their customer service when trying to negotiate price discrepancies online, I would recommend contacting the delightful hotel staff directly. The common areas of this hotel are clean, warm and inviting; no dingy stained carpeting to be found in this place! They keep it very clean. The little giftshop has nice selections, and you can purchase a brownie late at night at the front desk if you have a sugar craving. The parking lot is easy access to the hotel and feels fairly secure, with room options that look out over it so you can check on your vehicle whenever you would like. I almost didn't want to leave this review, because I am afraid the prices will jump once it gets discovered 😆 but the staff works too hard not to leave an appreciative note. The Wildbirch is a wonderful Anchorage option. Located in the heart of downtown it is within walking distance of so many things and a short cab ride from pretty much anywhere. The facility has been beautifully remodeled with a keen sense of the aesthetic. The onsite food options are very nice if you choose to stay in rather than venturing out. All the staff was friendly and helpful. It was very quiet and there was sense of security knowing that the staff was always present and ready to help with anything. I stayed in a portside king room and enjoyed the amenities as well as the view. Very clean and comfortable right down to the plush bathrobes. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.

I thought this hotel was great for my needs. There was a number of nice restaurants we can make short walking distance. The rooms are updated and have a unique character. I love that the windows do a complete blackout if you need to catch a nap or sleep during the daylight. Staff was friendly, bed was comfortable, shower was good and the in-room coffee and tea were great.

Downtown Anchorage is undergoing renovation and it is turning out GRAND! This totally renovated property is cozy and relaxing with a coffee klatch to brag about. The rooms are tastefully decorated with wood and leather accents and have plenty of room to hang your clothes via modern open closet. A corner seating nook is perfect for enjoying a cocktail with your loved one. For quieter room options ask for the 3rd floor toward the 3rd Avenue side (hotel parking lot side). View the ocean from the comfortable dining/bar area while enjoying amazing cuisine. You are right next door to the new Iditarod arch and a little over a block away from the 5th Avenue Mall JC Penney's store, and unique downtown shopping.

The Wildbirch hotel is a rebrand of the hotel to a Hyatt property along with a renovation. The hotel is located in downtown Anchorage in close proximity to some great restaurants and close to the shore.||The reception area is nice and cozy with a fireplace from which you can see the bar and restaurant of the hotel. Check-in was smooth and I had no issues. There is a charge for parking per day of $15 which in at the back of the hotel on the 1st floor.||The rooms were nice while a little small, but still clean and newly refurbished. The room had a refrigerator, safe, TV and coffee maker. There was no microwave in the room. I found the bed to be comfortable and the sheets to be very clean.||The bathroom was also very clean with no mold anywhere. While I wish they opted to refurbish with a full shower, the tub was fine. I found the water to be hot when needed, but lacking a bit in pressure. The towels were large and much better than most hotel towels I have used.||We did try the restaurant one night and only found the food to be okay and not great. Luckily there are some fantastic restaurants within a block or two of the hotel. While not noted, there is a workout facility on the 1st floor that has a lot of equipment including free weights and a Peloton. However, the workout room is basically all glass and next to the event area, so if there is an event going on, they are all watching you workout. I feel that they really need to frost the glass here.||All in all, I would definitely recommend staying at the Wildbirch hotel.

Newer hotel, recently renovated. Like the vibe as semi-rustic. Rooms were comfortable. Good hotel staff at front desk. On Fourth Ave, which makes it convenient to downtown Anchorage. Good blackout curtains. Price was inline with many others in the area and a good quality. Restaurant serves breakfast and dinner (lunch only on weekends). Coffee shop/gift shop only open in mornings.

The hotel is really nice and newly renovated with cozy and hip aesthetic. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good but a bit expensive- to be expected. The hotel was walking distance to restaurants and other attractions downtown. I would definitely stay here again!

This is probably one of the best hotels in Anchorage.. a bit more expensive but worth it! Don't judge it by the exterior but more by the interior, the rooms are awesome. Walking in... you have a small coffee shop/ restaurant bar/ check in desks complete with fireplace! The rooms are big with great king beds with quality linens/ nice bathroom/ lounge area/ large flat screen & nice lighting. Every room also has INDIVIDUAL climate control, an espresso machine and a rustic theme! Now this is a bit more expensive but you're paying for quality.. I looked at dumps that were merely $50 less in Anchorage. Great location as well & no bed bugs!! Book it/ Talk later

The staff was kind and helpful at check-in, made us feel welcome immediately. The room was perfect for two of us, and was hospitable when friends stopped by for a quick visit. We will definitely stay again.

Excellent! Well designed rooms, gracious kind staff, and welcome comfortable lobby spaces with gas fireplaces - great to come Home to after hiking or day long meetings. Also a very good restaurant as well as coffee shop. I highly recommend this hotel!

Today I went to check out "The Crimson" and had their signature burger. It was absolutely delicious and cooked perfectly. There is just something about a good brioche bun. Then, I hit a post workout push day in the fitness center. The workout area was clean and has fresh towels and conveniently chilled water from the dispenser. Overall a great day and the amenities were top tier!
