The Wilder Townhouse | Dublin | Smith Hotels

"Within strolling distance of Temple Bar and close to the Grand Canal, The Wilder Townhouse hotel is a handsome red-brick retreat on a sleepy residential street in Dublin. Built during the Victorian era, its name nods to a time when Oscar Wilde once resided in the Irish capital. The dapper design would make any dandy proud: jewel-coloured velvet chairs, polished parquet floors and botanical-print wallpaper, with vintage silk Ottomans, wood-panelled walls and original fireplaces in some of the suites. The chic Gin & Tea Rooms stock an elaborate array of Irish gins and whiskeys – just the tonic for perfecting those erudite Wilde quotes. Sláinte!" - Mr & Mrs Smith

Wilder Townhouse (Dublin, Ireland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Comfortably within walking distance of the Dublin city center, yet quietly sequestered in a residential neighborhood alongside the canal, the Wilder Townhouse splits the difference between country-house chill and urban boutique-hotel style. This Victorian classic retains many of its historical interior elements, while plenty of stylistic liberties have been taken with the décor. The Gin and Tea Rooms is a bar that serves light bites, and for restaurants and nightlife the whole of the city lies just on the other side of St. Stephen’s Green." - Tablet Hotels

Wilder Townhouse | Best places to stay in Dublin

"If you want to balance the buzz of Dublin city with a calming yet central bolthole, The Wilder Townhouse is just the ticket. Set within a gorgeous Victorian redbrick building, the Wilder has an eccentric vibe, with quirky touches to the interior (think bronze dogs and sewing mannequins) balanced with super friendly staff. If more Dubliners knew about the airy Garden Room bar it would be packed out every day – as it is, the light-filled, colourful conservatory is a great spot for a sneaky G&T (the bar is fully stocked with the best Irish bottles). There’s no restaurant on site, but no matter – the best dining spots in the city are just a few steps away on Camden Street. You’d never guess, though – the peaceful, side street location gives the place a real country house vibe. " - Nicola Brady

The Wilder is located in a very nice and peaceful part of Dublin. It was very easy to walk to the center, access great restaurants, parks, monuments and museums. Very close to Trinity and the historical city.|The hotel is charming and has character. Recently renovated and beautifully decorated. The staff was extremely friendly, kind, helpful and accomodating. Their Gin & Tonic welcoming drink was outstanding. We loved the breakfast and their delicious coffee. We loved everything about it. PS: if you can afford the largest room, go for it. As expected in Europe room are a bit smaller.

We booked a small room for our last night in Dublin. A beautifully restored historic building. The room is small as advertised but each detail is exquisitely considered for a small space. The 12 foot ceilings also help keep it from feeling too close. My personal favorite detail is the historic fireplace and mantle kept in the bathroom space to frame the sink. The front desk staff are friendly and welcoming. The welcome drink G&T in the bar The Gin and Tea room is a lovely way to start your afternoon. The neighborhood is quiet and real. Would definitely return for several nights.

First time visit in the Wilder Townhouse and only for one night but I loved everything about the place. Starting with the super location and free parking, to the very friendly welcome, to the cosy and beautifully decorated rooms with complimentary snacks and drinks, to the welcome Gin & Tonic in the cosy bar and then the fabulous breakfast. This place is a gem and fabulous value for money for the standard. I will definately be back!

This little boutique hotel is so amazing. Quirky and fun, but also quiet and friendly. Staff is amazing! Breakfast was so good. Large variety of food on the continental breakfast, but also a good selection of items on the hot menu as well. Not super close to, but 8-10 minute walk to all the things Dublin has to offer.

The little touches makes this hotel stand out - complimentary gin & tonic, olives and nuts, room had nice extras to go with a cuppa which included water and Bottled Milk in fridge. Fantastic choices on breakfast menu with cappuccino /latte at no extra cost.|The interior was fun and quirkly znd a very relaxing outdoor courtyard off breakfast room. Highly recommend The Wilder.

The Wilder is a lovely boutique hotel! My room, even a Shoebox Room, was very well appointed. The breakfasts were delicious, hot, beautifully presented & attentive to any allergies. The staff were very helpful & accommodating. The welcome G&T with juniper berries was a treat!

This is now my favourite hotel in Dublin. The historic building has been tastefully remodeled yet retains its unique character. They add sweet touches like complementary gourmet treats in the room and a turn-down service with a chocolate. The service was impeccable and the breakfast in the garden room adjacent to the patio was excellent. They definitely deserve their Michelin star!

Google
A fantastic place to stay in Dublin! The rooms are wonderful, the location is perfect (very quiet, but close to multiple attractions and great restaurants), the breakfast is superb, but most of all everyone working there is incredibly kind and helpful! I will be sure to stay here any time I find myself back in Dublin!

Yelp
Really lovely small hotel. Perfectly located, elegantly furnished and decorated. Rooms are cozy but very comfortable and quiet. Staff were also lovely. Breakfast was great and served in a comfortable and pleasant room. Walking distance to St. Stephen's Green, Grafton St. and many other sites in Dublin City. Definitely take a nice walk through St. Stephen's Green if you've not gone through it before. Highly recommend for pleasure or business travel.

Yelp
Absolutely loved staying at The Wilder. Peaceful and safe neighborhood, near canal with walking / biking path as well as gorgeous park at St. Stephen's Green. The rooms are truly "boutique" chic, very comfortable and spotless with complimentary Irish treats. We booked 4 rooms and each was charming and unique. The breakfast buffet is complimentary and really perfect, but you can upgrade to larger full meals which were also delicious. Easy 20-minute walk or light-rail ride to tourist area. Highly recommend this lovely hotel!

Yelp
Although we're only here for a short stay, my husband and I have been incredibly happy with our experience at the Wilder. The staff was incredibly helpful with accommodating our early luggage drop-off and allowing us to park at the hotel in the early morning the day of our check-in. The rooms are clean and the entire hotel is well decorated. The food was excellent and the location was the perfect base for our quick 24 hour stay while we explored Dublin.

Yelp
I don't write reviews very often but the experience at The Wilder was so amazing I felt it only right to share. My wife and I stayed here for six nights for our 10 year wedding anniversary. The staff at the Wilder made this the best trip we have ever taken. They made us feel like family from the moment we entered and went above and beyond the entire time we were there. I can't recommend the Wilder enough. It is the only hotel I will stay in when I am back in Dublin.

Yelp
Loved this boutique hotel! It's centrally located, close to St. Stephen's Green and the Grafton street shops and within a nice walk to the Liffey/Temple Bar areas. We stayed in the "popular double" room facing the parking area, which wasn't as noisy as I thought it might be, though you could definitely hear people walking on the gravel. The room itself is small, like Scandinavian hotel-small, but comfortable and whimsically appointed with quirky touches like animal portraits, etc. Oddly enough, the bathroom was on the larger end, and though I loved the idea of the glass door shower (also Scandinavian style), we ended up mopping water on the daily. The bar downstairs serves cocktails and light snacks . I would definitely recommend staying here as opposed to a hotel closer to the central area as it's quieter and less touristy.
