The William powered by Sonder

Excellent service. Liliana and her staff are amazing. The room was comfortable but the AC was noisy as was the terrace at the rear of the building next to the HVAC exhaust system for the hotel. If you want a terrace, ask for the front of the building and be sure to as for a higher floor as the bar on the first level is busy and loud at night.

Cool hotel with prime midtown location - just blocks away from Grand Central Station + 15 min walk to Penn Station. Hospitable service - chatted with all the front desk staff and one of the team members even came up to our room to reset the TV batteries after it wasn't working. We stayed in the superior queen + balcony - loved the interior/style/separation (not to mention, two TVs). Only thing that was a bit of bummer was the terrace itself - felt smaller/less luxurious than pictured, but no biggie. We'll definitely be back - and will have to check out the bar next time!

Great room, and Chloe and the team provided very warm service that went above and beyond. We love Sonders and stay in them frequently. They don't come to turn the room (that's the gimmick of the brand), but if you don't mind that you can stay in a great location at a very affordable price

After a long day of traveling, the brutally steep stairs to the building entrance are grueling. The lobby has a dimly lit, tastefully slinky vibe, and the front desk staff were always a pleasure throughout my stay. Chloe was especially eager to help and thoroughly informative. I truly appreciated her warmth and commitment to providing exceptional customer service. My unit was compact but didn't skimp on comfort (the bed was divine!) with great functioning A/C and long lasting hot water in the shower. The shower design was critically lacking though; no curtain or shower door, just a glass panel stretching less than halfway down the outer wall of the tub means water gets on the floor and makes for an inappropriate unit for anyone who may need to share a bathroom with family, colleagues, etc. Although there is a washer and dryer available for guest use, detergent is not provided. There is a restaurant/bar in the lobby, so there are often guests and staff scurrying around the common space. Also be aware that the elevator is extremely small, you may want to request a lower level unit if you are claustrophobic! Personally, I think there are other Sonders in the city that are more conveniently located than The William, although it is a straightforward walk from Penn Station.

We splurged a bit and stayed in a room with a full kitchenette and a private balcony (on which we cavorted during a late-afternoon thunderstorm). It was spacious, clean, well-appointed, convenient, and, for Manhattan, reasonable (under $400/night all in). We've stayed at another Sonder property, and we liked it, but this was a gem.

Hotel rooms in NY city are extortionately expensive, so we were happy to discover the Sonder chain of Hotels and The William, good value for money, budget boutique style accomodation. Amazing location near Grand Central Station and The Empire State building. I believe we were given an upgrade as we weren't expecting the useful mini kitchenette. Good sizes room, stylishly decorated, plenty of storage. Good sized bathroom, with great toiletries but the all too common problem of no shelving or place to put toiletry bags etc and too short a shower screen meaning water went everywhere.|Large window with balcony, although there is a very large and noisy communal AC units outside that means you have to keep door shut. Very interesting communal areas and quirky British type pub in the basement. Staff were friendly. We would certainly be very happy to stay here again on our next trip to NYC

Location is very good, staff is friendly and the rooms are pretty calm considering the noise outside. However the price per night is expensive (NY…) and no room cleaning neither breakfast is included. The most negative point which explains that poor note is that we found bed bug in the room!!

Great experience. The front desk staff let me check in earlier than usual which was a big plus for me due to the events I had to attend. The staff was really respectful and did great to accomodate. The location was perfectly fine for me and the lounge area has an old 1900s feel to it I guess its the whisky room which was pretty cool to me. Overall id stay again for sure which i plan to.
