The William Hotel Midtown

We truly enjoyed our stay at The William Hotel. We celebrated a birthday and the staff was more than accommodating for our needs. They responded to every email, eased my very stressed mind, and decorated the room so beautifully for the surprise. Lilandra and Keke were outstanding! These women provided a phenomenal service and I will definitely be back!

I had a wonderful stay at The Williams Hotel Midtown in NYC. The location is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel is very welcoming. What truly made the experience special was the outstanding service, especially from Lilly. She was incredibly kind, professional, and always willing to help. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel welcomed and taken care of, answering all my questions with a smile and making sure everything during my stay was perfect. You can bet that I will never forget the William Hotel. From the staff to the room, to the food everything was excellent. They made my 70th birthday celebration unforgettable. It is not a large hotel which made it so special. Every day I received housekeeping services and when I needed something they made it possible and if not they were very helpful in telling me where we could get it. In other words they went above and beyond what I expected in a hotel.

Stayed at The William and absolutely loved it. Creative design, spacious rooms, and details that really set the tone. The service was warm and effortless, and the location is ideal! Lively and perfectly connected to Manhattan. Would definitely stay here again.

This boutique stay in the city is a no-brainer choice if you love intimate, curated hospitality that makes you feel right at home! The rooms are so spacious that you will forget you are in New York. The property has spunk, character and the staff go above and beyond to make sure your experience is special and you are well taken care of! the Raines Law Room in the lobby is the perfect hangout for a cocktail in the Big Apple and if you can, upgrading to a suite is an awesome choice! You can get access to a huge rooftop-style balcony to round-out your quintessential New York stay!

Loved this little gem! The library rooms are adorable and the staff went out of their way to give a warm welcome. I like that they communicate updates and room info via whatsapp to make it seamless. I was also blown away by the size of my room. NYC rooms are typically very small, but mine was quite large with a seating area and kitchenette. Great central location too.

Excellent customer service. Friendly staff. Nice cocktail lounge. Nice, homey living room area. The kitchenette is nice and the studio is roomy, especially for midtown manhattan hotel room.

We had a great stay at The William, the staff was awesome as we dealt with a blizzard. And the hotel was tremendous and our room was great. We definitely recommend this for a visit to NYC!

This was our first time at this location, and I actually prefer it over the other one. It's very small, but the way it's set up has good people watching. The service was very attentive and the drinks were very good (as usual at Raines). The food menu is larger at this location and had better things. We had the chips and pastrami sandwiches. The chips were typical but the sandwiches were great. We were celebrating our anniversary, so they brought over a complimentary drink. We will be back.

Without a doubt, this speakeasy is an absolute gem in NYC! In my honest opinion, it's unparalleled. The cocktail prices are incredibly reasonable, coming in at less than $20, making it even more appealing than many standard restaurant bars in midtown. The ever-changing menu, carefully crafted by a team of creative bartenders, always keeps things exciting. Personally, I enjoy sitting at the bar, so I can catch up with my favorite bartender, Juan. You can also name your liquor preference and receive a delicious cocktail! It's truly a delightful experience that keeps me coming back for more.

My friend Katie M. and I were in need of a bar in this part of Manhattan on a drizzly Wednesday night, and we ended up walking into the Raines Law Room at the William. I'd had the original location bookmarked for over a decade and was pleased with the way this worked out. The William appears to be some kind of extended stay hotel. The decor is swanky and modern, but there's no reception area, and it had this strange, lightly haunted vibe when we showed ourselves in, like a Scooby Doo situation might unfold in the deserted lounge across the hall from Raines Law Room. The bar felt nice, though, attractive and buzzy, even in the quiet closing hour of a rainy school night. It looked like a luxurious living room, grand but intimate. We sat on comfortable chairs and enjoyed a few drinks. Service was prompt and friendly. I loved the cocktails. The Desert Bloom was a refreshing mezcal drink with bergamot, aji amarillo pepper, lime, and passionfruit. The Electric Guava was delicious and interesting, jalapeño-infused Oaxacan rum mixed with Select Aperitivo, guava, passionfruit, grapefruit, cinnamon, and lime. Pulling Threads might have been my favorite, a boozy, aromatic cocktail of gin, Salers, blanc vermouth, saffron liqueur, and orange blossom. I don't live in New York, but I'd love to revisit Raines Law Room on another trip, especially if I find myself in this area. It's a great bar with fantastic cocktails, and any ghosts in the William are probably not real.

This spot has a very swanky vibe- small, intimate, darkly lit. Perfect for a date, a meet up with a girlfriend, or a business meeting. The drinks are also very interesting. The Vegas stage was very good, but a little sweet for my taste. The hearth of gold was also a little too sweet. I'll keep working to find the perfect drink.

Ham Croques: Rich and flavorful, these were a highlight of the evening. Service is always amazing! Overall, Raines Law Room at the William offers a sophisticated ambiance, exceptional cocktails, and delicious small bites. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a classy night out in NYC.

This is such a nice, intimate location. The cocktails are great and the food is also really good. The service is great and it's very "old New York" feeling. I will definitely be returning.

Beautiful place to grab some cocktails. The ambiance was what you'd like as an intimate setting or to catch up with a friend. A lot of thought went into the walls and the chairs and seating was top quality. We had sat at the bar and the bar tenders were very accommodating. Drinks were tasty, not the best I've had or would expect at the caliber of the place, but good enough.

Came here for a private event that was hosted here. We had the entire back room and there was a outdoor section to socialize. They had a very select cocktail menu, which all of them were well made. Love the interior design, keeping it on the sophisticated side with dim lighting. They also have a speakeasy location in Chelsea, which I highly recommend also checking out.

My new favorite speakeasy in NYC! - could make a reservation for a big group easily online - front desk, service, and the bouncer were all super friendly - dim and intimate vibe - the food was a plus!! I highly recommend the Croque Monsieur!!! It's so much beyond ham and cheese. My group were all impressed by it that we ordered another plate and the plate went empty in a second. The elote was awesome too It charged a mandatory 20% tip though and nobody said anything. I wish I paid more attention to the bill...

This is super confusing, but there are TWO locations--one in Chelsea, and one in midtown. Google maps only auto populates to the Chelsea location, so be careful! We made the mistake of showing up to the Chelsea location first. The guy was nice and offered to call the William location and let them know of the mistake and that we would be late, but something must have been miscommunicated because it seemed that the people at the William had already assumed we weren't coming and marked it as a no show. There were no more open tables when we arrived, but they were so nice about it and offered free champagne during our 20-30min wait for a table. The ambiance here is pretty cool, and my drink (the golden hive) was tasted very refreshing. I also tried my friends' drinks, which were all solid, with the exception of the con todo, which unfortunately tasted rather artificial.

I've never made it to the original location in Chelsea, so I don't have a point of comparison. BUT, I had reservations at Keen's and we had time to kill before, and I LOVE a good speakeasy. The slightly confusing bit is that my two friends accidentally ended up at the bar downstairs. You have to go up the stairs, speak to the host and Raines is to your left. Oh, take a peek at the wallpaper, it has personality lol. We had quite a few servers, all were top notch and the drinks were SPECTACULAR. On route to the restroom, I thought I had successfully given my credit card to one of our servers, but my friend thwarted my move, lol. All in all, I loved the drinks, the ambiance was great and we even enjoyed the serving of spiced nuts.

Not as intimate as their other location but the drinks are just as good. If you're nearby it's worth coming here than making the trek to the westside location.

The cocktails are amazing. Stuff are also very good. Food was delicious! Small sizes but definitely worth to try!

If I could give this cocktail bar a 10/5 I would. WOW! Incredible atmosphere, service, people, and the cocktails...I don't think I've ever had such unique and perfectly made cocktails. I went back two nights in a row. Absolutely exceptional. The interior where we sat the first night was cozy, private, and a little mysterious (speak east vibes). I got the desert bloom cocktail which was a spicy mezcal drink and that had to be one of, if not the best cocktail I've ever had out. It was sweet, spicy, with a HINT of smokiness from the mezcal. What I loved most is that you could taste the whole drink not just the mezcal. Superb. We also got tuna tartar and goat cheese bites which were both very good, but the drinks were def the star of the show. The second night, we sat at the bar countertop and were lucky enough to have Yazmin as our mixologist. She was electric...fun to watch, friendly, engaging, and by far one of the best mixologist I have ever encountered. She made me a chocolate cinnamon drink which I unfortunately cannot remember the name of but it was wildly good. For the second drink, I asked for Yasmin to make me a creation of her own based on a few ingredients which was gin and fruit. I'm unsure what the name of that drink was as well but it was a perfect balance of earthiness and fruity. Would drink about 50. Picture is shown of this cocktail. Long story short...I would recommend Raines Law Room to ANYONE. Go now if you can.

Always such a cozy place for drinks and bites. We sat in the back room and ordered the ceviche, warm goat cheese and the tuna tartare. Emily was so pleasant and attentive. I had the Puebla old fashioned and he had the new wave. Both were great, but i really liked the new wave. It tasted like a beach vacation!!! Rez are a must or the wait can be lengthy. There is a small bar that's first come first serve, but there's only about six seats.

Raines law room was one of the best culinary experiences I have ever had. To my surprise, I've often been disappointed by cocktail bars Manhattan. The three cocktails I enjoyed were the best I've ever had. Raines Law room has a focus on South American Cocktails - popular during the height of the cocktail revolution here in the United States but lost in the current age we live in. Best cocktail of the night was Samba Steps, which uses Cachaca and blends apple cider, pistachio orgeat and rose essence on top of the typical lime and rocks. Special shoutout to Bruno's Vow, which combines top shelf mezcal and yellow chartreuse, a combination I have tried with no success. The heightened smokiness was at the center of a cocktail with dark and lighter flavored liqueurs. The ingredients paired well together and the prices you pay are fair. Highly recommend for anyone who has any interest in cocktails.

I've been here a few times and each time is exceptional. Tonight our hostess was Kimberly. She was so friendly, warm, and inviting!! She directed us where to wait so she could make sure our table was ready. After a short wait, she brought us to our area. Also, we had an unexpected addition, and the managers were thankfully able to accommodate us (THANK YOU LUKE!) - with advanced notice of course. Emily was our server, and she was amazing. I asked to have a drink altered a bit, and she went and asked if it could be done and it could be! There was a group of 7 of us and we all had a blast! All different drinks, I'm sorry I didn't keep track, and even some of the small plates, all rave reviews! The ambience was amazing as always and the music was ON POINT! Can't wait until my next visit. It is worth every penny!

Excellent drinks! The menu is different than the other location, but drinks are just as innovative and good. The waitress can go off menu or rather to one of their old menus if you want to try something and the 16 drinks they have on the menu aren't hitting the spot ;) The food here is very average. I recommend not eating here. Still giving it five stars, because it is primarily a bar. They should really just get rid of their kitchen all together.

This spot is a little more snug than the location in Chelsea. It did feel like we were on top of each other at the establishment. Same drink options. Gorgeous decor and people dressed up. I think I'd go to Chelsea just for the additional breathing room. Tip: Call them directly if you can't make a RSVP online. They are definitely able to help and squeeze you in (worked for me.)

Such a cute spot with "speakeasy" vibes - would be great for a date. It's a bit dark and a bit noisy so you will have to be pretty close to hear each other talk, but the vibes are nice and drinks & service is great. We had an 8pm res on a Tues and were suddenly able to come early - after one quick call, we were able to change the res to 730pm seamlessly. Upon arrival, our vaccine cards were checked and we were quickly seated at a cozy booth area (their seating for a group of 6 is quite tight, so I'd imagine this spot is better for smaller groups). Their menu is on a QR code with drinks organized by themes. Drinks are ~$19, and all drinks we ordered were amazing. I am personally a fan of fruity, floral and sweet cocktails (i.e., barely tastes like alcohol lol) and got the Aurora and Royal Hawaiian. Aurora was so sweet and fruity and almost felt like it didn't contain alcohol. This drink even smelled fruity when out ~1 foot from the face. Royal Hawaiian was more tropical and refreshing. I preferred the Aurora as it felt a bit lighter in flavor and less intense with the sweetness. Would still recommend both though for variety! My friends got straight bourbon, siesta swizzle, and some customized drinks, etc. and they all loved what they got - there's really something for everyone here!

Craving some cocktails, we decided to check out the other Raines law room location. This one is featured in a hotel which gives less speakeasy vibes, but more space for an AC-ed waiting area which was a godsend in the hot humid summer weather. We were able to walk in on a Thursday night and be seated within 15 minutes. The waiter gave decent recommendations for our cocktails. I loved my Blue Hawaii - a sweet refreshing icy drink that helped cool me off, capped with a small slice of pineapple. We got some macarons as a small dessert - they were unfortunately quite small and topped oddly with whipped cream. The ambiance and decor was fantastic and my party and I had a great time. We were a little unlucky in that we were not seated near a bell, so it took us some effort to flag down a server. Overall, a solid place in midtown for a nice cocktail with friends!

The cocktails are decent here, but the place just feels crammed and not well-soundproofed. The speakers are way too loud and even after telling them to turn down the music, it was still hard to listen to each other. Maybe I was expecting too much, but I just thought it would be a more calm, jazzy and 1920s style place, but instead the decor looks classic, but the sounds just remind me of the hustle and bustle of NYC. I get New York is just like this, but for a Speakeasy I just expected a little more room. The vibe is still overall classy though and I think it's worth a shot to check out.

I found myself at Raines Law Room after an in-person work meeting in Manhattan (the first one I have had since February 2020). Pre-COVID, my colleagues and I would usually go out for drinks after meetings so we were excited that we can finally resume that ritual. One of my colleagues suggested here - its Yelp page looked enticing and since I had never been here before I was excited to check it out. From what I could gather, Raines Law Room has two locations - this one in Midtown and another in Chelsea. The exterior is kind of inconspicuous, blending in with the brownstones that line 39th Street. Walking in, it has the look of a house with compartmentalized rooms, but once you go into one of the rooms it totally gives off speakeasy vibes. The room we were seated in was intimate and cozy with somewhat dark colors, chairs and couches to sit, and small tables. There was a nice looking bar that served as a focal point, and from what I can see, other rooms that gave off similar vibes. Their cocktail menu is separated by theme, and they also have a good selection of wine. I got the Pear of Aces which was quite good - I appreciated the creativity they put into their cocktails and also the fact that you can order off the menu just by giving suggestions and tastes you're looking for. We were a little hungry, so we explored their small plates menu. We went with the snack tray that contained spiced nuts, cheddar, and kalamata olives. I also noticed they offered a meat and cheese board which was right up my alley. They gave a small selection of components to choose from so we went with sopressata, blue cheese, and more cheddar; the board was also served with grilled sourdough, mustard, and jam. I thought it was great - big chunks of cheese and all the components worked really well with each other. Service was great, the staff was super helpful and everything came out at a good pace. Overall, I had a really good experience at Raines Law Room - I would definitely return for after/before dinner drinks. The creative cocktails, tasty snacks, and awesome aesthetics make it stand out from its peers.

Be sure to make reservations. We came here after dinner down the block, Ramerino Italian Prime. (If you want romantic dinner, that's a perfect place to go before drinks.) We really liked it here. There are four rooms. We were in the library. The waitress was really friendly as well as the rest of the staff. One member was kind enough to show me all the rooms and explained how you can book parties here too. We loved the atmosphere and the drinks were on point. We would definitely return. We also want to try this spot at Chelsea too.

These people could give 2 shits about their customers. They say that they are OPEN on their website and it turns out they are CLOSED for a private party. We crossed the whole town! Get it together and update your website!!!

Lovely, intimate setting. A bit smaller than anticipated, but they make good use of space and were very creative. Bartenders were incredibly knowledgeable and host/hostess at the front door were extremely helpful and got us seated promptly. For drinks, we ordered the New Wave and Plum Role. Neither were too sweet or overpowering; very well balanced. Loved the bar/space so will be back when I'm in the area!

COVID report: vaccinations are required. Finally visited Raines Law Room at the William (I've been to the other location, but this one has been on my list for ages). I had the Sherpa & Spice cocktail, which was amazing. Service was great and the decor is swank. Super cozy spot.

Recently hosted an event here for a friends wedding after party (about 25 of us) and it was so great! Booking the space was easy, and our bartender Bob was amazing. I loved that we could play our own Spotify playlist and the drinks were delicious. Highly recommend!!

Drinks are weak, food is mediocre, staff is rude. On top of that, my friend felt that she was racially profiled by a staff member there. Based on our experience I do not recommend this place. There are so many amazing places in the city.

Very dimly lit and loud setting. Not good for a group of four. The drinks were fine but overpriced, like most of NYC. What was annoying was they didn't wait to see if we were done (we ordered 2 drinks each plus food) and just shoved the check on our table. Basically hinted we needed to leave (we had only been there 1 hour 45 mins). Very disappointing experience for the price you pay.

This was my 2nd time visiting here and recently went here to have a few cocktails for my birthday and the service was exceptional!! Sat at the bar this time and our bartender Bobbi was the BEST! Felt like we became friends instantly. We ordered 2 rounds of cocktails and each one was DELICIOUS and WELL-BALANCED! He was very engaging with us and we spoke about different cocktail bars and his go-tos. He even gave us samples of different liquors because we were genuinely curious about the taste. One of the old-fashioned we tried had cacao in it and there was a nice chocolate note. A very memorable birthday indeed!

Walked in early in a Saturday and my husband and I were able to be seated right away. It seems like they've opened an additional room so a lot more seating now! We came just for drinks but later in the night got a meat and cheese board. I got a mocktail which I really enjoyed (mocktails are really well considered here and there's a separate list with some options) and my husband got some variation of an old fashioned, which he liked enough to order again once he finished his first drink. So definitely worth coming for the drinks! The cheese plate was great and came with a huge amount for the price. I have a small cheese appetite so we brought most of it home (and I used it to grate very small amounts of cheese onto things ). The chairs aren't the comfiest...but they do look very nice. Atmosphere is great too. Pretty quiet, cool decor. Would happily come back if looking for something to do post dinner and in the area!

I really enjoyed the aesthetic this place has to offer. Clean, elegant, dark and very minimal noise other than the music. I really liked the staff and their recommendations. I enjoyed that I felt cared for by the staff in that space. The drinks were phenomenal. Rustic, spicy but still maintaining those fruity flavors. They have MANY drinks to offer for whatever liquor lover. I wish I took a photo of the presentation because I loved how minimal the flowers look on the drink. I hope to be back soon I 100% recommend coming here for a night out with a date. I don't recommend this for a group of loud friends.

Some of the best mixologists are here from the other descriptions, and ironically I didn't get a single drink. I was here for a business event and ended up coming late. They were very accommodative and managed a custom menu and to serve up enough to keep the teams happy. Space to host events and a reasonably tight entrance policy keep it limited and not too crowded. Note the entrance is up a steep set of steps. Not sure exactly how someone handicapped would enter but maybe they have another entrance for them? Bathroom was down the hall and had no napkins, just a hand blower.

I rented the Hawthorne Room and the Garden Terrace for a private event for my 40th birthday. Everything was fantastic - planning from Seattle remotely was super easy with Lauren, all of the event team on the day of was fantastic [I am just horrendous at remembering names!], food was great and everyone loved it [I did apps, a carving station, and desserts], as my 1st sober major event I was so excited to have such high quality mocktail choices, and guests loved the cocktails. The space was awesome, clean, inviting, etc. All in all could not have asked for anything more!

Came here with friends on a Friday night to have ~fancy~ cocktails and enjoy our time in the decorated lounge space. We made a reservation in advance and were quickly seated and served. We each ordered a cocktail and small bites to share. The cocktails here are boujee and artisanal at $19 a drink, but very interesting! The menu is pretty extensive with lots of options to suit different tastes from floral to spicy to old fashioned. I ordered the Isla Belle, which is a tequila based drink with cilantro, lime, jalapeño, and chartreuse. my friends got: La Sonora, Plum Role, Rolls Royce. We also ordered the meat & cheese platter ($20) and the 4 macarons ($12). The drinks were strong and beautifully presented. The menu descriptions were quite accurate and I could taste the flavors and notes of everything in each drink. My drink (Isla Belle) almost tasted like a green juice because of the cilantro, which I personally love but I know is not for everyone haha. The macarons were also delicious! I'd skip on the meat and cheese board though-- it came with a selection of crackers and fruit too but overall the portion wasn't astounding for the price we paid. The vibes of this spot are classier with dark ambient lighting and decor, so it would be a great spot for a date or a chill place to gather with friends if you aren't looking for somewhere too chaotic or lively. While I enjoyed my visit and had fun with my friends here, it is fairly pricey and I don't think I would crave going out of my way for a revisit unless someone else suggested it!

This is the second time we've come to Raines and really enjoyed it. Definitely a great spot for a second or third date before or after dinner or a very promising first. Here's what we got... 1. Amber Old Fashioned (5/5)... if you're an old fashioned fan, this is your go to. It's a bit stronger than traditional but delicious and the citrus is paired perfectly. 2. Oaxacan Old Fashioned (4.5/5)... I personally would have given it 5/5 but it is very mezcal forward and my bf is less of a fan of the Smokey flavor. If you're a mezcal fan, this is your drink. 3. Spin on the Oaxacan Old Fashioned (4/5)... second round he asked for only tequila and he said it was spot on. Only 1 star off bc the drink was a bit short. A note on ambiance and service.... We had a 9:15 res and were seated at the back section right in the throughway of tons of traffic and in view of the bathroom entrance. I wasn't super happy as it was not relaxing at all and not the kind of ambiance I go to pay $18 per cocktail for. Midway through our first drink we asked if we could potentially move our table. Hostess was super accommodating and was able to shift our seat to honestly the best seat in the house. I totally understand this can't happen all the time but we felt really valued and will likely return because of the hospitality.

Fantastic sit down bar with an incredible ambiance. Came here with a fellow yelper and we had such a good time. Service was a little spotty but honestly If she didn't work a 12 hour shift and me having a couple hours sleep we'd have stayed all night long. Drinks were strong but the menu was a bit intimidating with descriptions that don't really describe the taste of the drinks. I stuck with a good tried and true basil Hayden while my friend opted for a fancy cocktail. Not to her liking they graciously took it back and made her something else that she loved! Highly recommend this place for a good night out

Went here for an afterwork event and it was cool. Very low key and relaxed environment. It has a classic vibe to the place with the hotel attached to the restaurant which make the place look really good. Appetizers were good and same as the drinks. The staff was very accommodating as they provided great service to my party. Definitely a nice place and looking forward to coming back here.

I really wanted to love it here, but was so disappointed when I arrived and realized it was this Tiny little room that was about 1000 degrees and they were closing by like 11 PM... a complete waste of a 3 block walk...

Such a cozy spot for cocktails in midtown! I definitely love the original downtown but snagging a seat can be difficult. This second outpost is definitely not as well known...but maybe it should be kept that way! COVID precautions are well-taken with cleaning and distancing measures in place. We did not feel rushed with our cocktails at all and the ambiance is like a classy library. I love it! Drinks are strong but not bitter. Recipes are well-thought out and there is a variety for those who like more traditional or modern cocktails.

They provided great recommendations for drinks and were pretty fast with getting food and drinks. They were attentive but not overbearing! Drinks and food: strong cocktails with good alcohol! They have an expansive menu of cocktails and you are likely to find something that you enjoy! For food we ordered the shrimp and it was really good Covid safety: I was seated indoors because they dont have outdoors abailable in this location. But I felt super comfortable indoors. The waiters wore masks and Everyone was seated very separately. One place that is actually following the guidelines

The atmosphere, the ambiance was just perfect! Exactly what we were looking for! We were local for dinner and wanted to continue the night in a spot that was just right for quiet conversation with a sultry feel and Raines was just what we had in mind. Emily was totally amazing and was able to come up with drink not on the menu.

First time here...Cool spot overall. The ambiance is really beautiful, but the way you enter doesn't give much of a "speakeasy" feel. Every easy entrance which takes away from the fun (for moi). The drinks are Didn't try the food but definitely slim pickings and the options are very similar. The music though...? Not my cup of tea and that's really the downer for me but may be a plus for others. I definitely want to try the other location as I've heard different review as far as the vibes are concerned.

Great ambiance! Awesome cocktails; some slightly pricey even for NYC. Get here early for a seat. We were staying in a Sonder room above the location and were fortunate to snag a great spot at the bar on our first night. Make sure you check out the interesting wallpaper.

Great service. Large portions. Cozy tables. We went early so not a big crowd but close to time square so I'm sure it gets busy before and after show time
