This Cultural Wine District in Porto, Portugal, Has 12 Restaurants and Immersive Drink Experiences — Here's How to See It

"Portugal is a small but mighty country in many ways, including its microcosm of different landscapes that produce some truly excellent wines. At The Wine Experience, the art of demystifying wine is presented to visitors through education on the soil, climate, and grapes that produce the region's sparkling, red, and white wines. This is also a sensory experience, where tastings, vision, and smell are employed to deepen your relationship to the glass." - Travel + Leisure Editors

This is probably the most informative and interactive, yet gorgeous museum I have ever been to. The structure itself is gorgeous and curated in the smallest detail, they also make you try some wine at the end which is a big plus. Overall it is worth doing while you’re in Porto; also check out the chocolate museum and the Taylor’s establishments, they are amazing too.

Great interactive museum with a plethora of interesting information for any wine lover. Even though I’m not a huge wine drinker, I decided to bring my wine enthusiast friend to this museum. Having said that, the museum was quite interesting and enjoyable - especially the interactive quizzes and aroma guessing. The experience ends with a wine tasting. We tasted three different wines, all of which were very delicious. The guide made sure no one bothered us during the tasting. He was super friendly and helpful and we all learnt something new about the wine tasting! Additionally, the whole museum complex is quite cute and looks like a small village. The only downside - we struggled to find the right building. The gift shop was also quite good.

The Wine Experience Museum lies in the WOW (world of wine) area in Porto. There are a lot of different museums in this area and you can get a better price (price reduction) when you book more than one museum. You can pay online or at the Museum. Online you can see what you get for the admission prices. The Wine Experience Museum was €20 per person and it includes a wine tasting at the end of 1 white wine, 1 red wine and 1 port wine. The museum is very well explained in English and Portuguese + there is another translate option with QR codes but I don’t know if that’s any good since we speak English almost fluently. The museum has a lot of information with videos, photos and interactive quizzes. We were pleasantly surprised by the wine tasting. The guide was really clear to inform us about the tastes and aromas in English. It didn’t feel rushed. To us, it was worth the price of admission.

Great experience! Must see museum in Porto! I went with my 13 old son and honestly I didn’t know what to expect. It was a great experience. I’ve learned so many new things. You can see that there’s a lot of work out in this museum to make a very pleasant and knowledgeable experience. You will be able to immerse in the wine world, from understanding the regions of the planet where wines are produced and why, the wine life cycle, from moment the grapes are planted, to the moment they are harvested, the types of soil in Portugal and how they are comparable with some other soils in other countries…. And so on, and so on.. You can spend easily 1 to 2 hours there. At the end, a great cost and benefit wine tasting!

The Wine Experience museum did an awesome job walking you through grape growth and wine production in many different media formats and presentation styles. Informative, fun and enjoyable. Our tasting at the end with João was also great!

One of the best wine experience museums in Porto! Even in the world! Separate rooms for detailed information about wine making steps, each room is each step for the wine making process, at the end of the museum you have a tasting of three glasses of Portugal wine with Somalia. In conclusion, the museum is so attractive and interesting and worth your time for sure! I highly recommend to visit if you are in Porto

This sleek museum in the new World of Wine (WOW) complex is worth visiting for someone with even the slightest interest in wine. I have done several winery and port tours over the years, but I learnt plenty here, and the information is presented in a way which makes it easy to absorb. The lower section deals with the whole process of climate, growing grapes, and prepaying the wine, plus the various types of grape. Upstairs focuses mainly on Portuguese wine growing areas, finishing with a tasting. There are plenty of options to see individual cellars or vineyards in the Porto area, but this brings everything together in an accessible, enjoyable way.
