I really enjoyed The Winery Hotel. It was a cute, boutique-like hotel with friendly staff, a comfortable bed, a good restaurant (The Winery Kitchen), a rooftop area with outdoor pool, and their unique winery which includes tours. TWH also includes free WiFi. Long story short, I really enjoyed this hotel and the half a star is taken out due to the lack of a clock or phone in the room and the fact that it's not cheap (but I guess you get what you pay for). I also noticed that the toilet was really tall. I'm 5'4" and only my toes reached the floor! lol
FOOD. Our room did not include room service. This was fine since we were jet lagged for the first day and a half after our flight. I think their breakfast was great compared to most other hotels I have visited. You can dine in the Winery Kitchen for breakfast from 7am-11am. While reservations are not mandatory, I would suggest you try to make them for a guaranteed spot as certain days and times can get busy (mostly the weekends for dinner). They had hard-boiled, soft-boiled, or scrambled eggs, liver pate, various breads (I loved their croissants), bacon, mini sausage links, oatmeal with various toppings, fruits (watermelon, pineapple, melon), etc. We also ate at the Winery Kitchen for dinner two nights in a row. The first night, we ordered from the a la carte menu. Their burger and veal sausage plates were delicious.
The fries that came with the burger were thick, crispy, and fresh. The truffle mayo dipping sauce was delicious (I'm a huge fan of truffles). I usually don't like veal, but their veal sausage was surprisingly delicious as well. The side of mashed potatoes with cheese was rich, tasty, and filling. For the second night, we tried their first 3 course menu (Tomato consomme, lamb racks, and creme caramel). The tomato consomme with goat cheese ravioli had a very clean, delicious taste. The lamb racks were cooked perfectly and included eggplant, zucchini, and polenta. The creme caramel with apricot, caramel, and berries (strawberries, blueberries, and red currants) included a poached apricot, apricot sorbet, caramel flan, and fruit. They also have the Terrano deli located on the ground floor (other side of the main entrance) for pizza.
SERVICE.
Again, our room did not include room service. We opted not to use the house cleaning service because we only stayed for two nights and we were still quite jet lagged. However, the staff working the front desk, the Winery Kitchen, and the bar were kind and patient with us.
UNIQUE OPTIONS:
We did not take a tour of TWH's winery, but thought it was a cute, unique option. TWH also has various wines on tap. You can go to the bar and load up a card to use at the wine tap. Each wine tap has a tasting option, half a glass, or full glass and includes the price for each. It's definitely unique. You can also just go to the bar and order your drink with the bartender.
TWH is definitely a cute hotel I would like to return to if I'm ever back in Sweden. It has a more comfortable bed than the Elite Palace hotel I stayed at in Stockholm.
FROM THE U.S...? I noticed that most hotels in Sweden really urge your to drink their tap water. The bartenders note that they water they use is no different from the tap water in the hotel rooms. If you still feel uncomfortable drinking tap water, head to the nearest convenience store.
