Disappointing First Visit to Wolf on Piedmont Ave This was my first time dining at Wolf on Piedmont Avenue, and unfortunately, it was not a good experience. We arrived before 5 PM and were given a limited menu that offered very few food options—mostly just drinks. After 5 PM, the server brought a new menu, but surprisingly, it didn’t offer much more. The selection was still quite limited and not very appealing. The service was also frustrating. While I appreciate attentive staff, our server checked on us far too often, which felt intrusive and disruptive. It seemed like they were rushing us through the meal. Even before we had finished our food and drinks, the server asked multiple times if they could clear the dishes, which was both annoying and uncomfortable. When the food finally came, it was a big letdown. The quality just wasn’t there—nothing stood out in terms of taste or presentation. For the price and reputation, I expected something much better. Overall, I was really disappointed with the entire experience—poor food quality, pushy service, and a limited menu. I had hoped for a nice evening out, but sadly, I won’t be returning.

Great restaurant! Wonderful bar. Every dish was delicious. Our server was friendly snd attentive. This is one of the best restaurants in the East Bay.

I don't know where to start. The place was packed and didn't have any room and they made a spot for me. The service was amazing. Everybody was friendly even the other customers around me, would recommend this place to everyone. The spanish octopus was phenomenal. Brussels sprouts were perfect and the tomatoes took me home. Thank you so much for the experience and the food.

I recently had dinner at The Wolf on Piedmont Avenue, with my aunt and cousins - it had been a long time since we all had the chance to meet up, so it was definitely a celebratory dinner of sorts 🤎. The restaurant definitely strikes a good balance between upscale and approachable/relaxed dining. The décor is a very elegant, elevated California style and it was a busy but intimate ambiance. The food was ALL delicious. We started off with the oysters on half shell 🦪, house made buttered naan bread 🫓 & a beautifully composed cheddar and black pepper popover. The short rib sugo rigatoni, which I had for my entree was cooked perfectly; it was tender short rib, and a beautifully subtly flavourful sherry porcini sauce. The cocktails we had were all well-balanced and creative - I recommend the Kiss from a Rose. Overall the service was good and our server was attentive for most of the evening, although there were two big tables and we were told that the kitchen was super busy and our food would take longer than usual. This certainly didn’t take from (or ruin) the experience - but it is something to consider if you’re in a rush or are tight on time. It’s not pushing culinary boundaries per se, but if you’re looking for a reliable, elevated neighborhood spot for a date night or small celebration, The Wolf delivers. I’d definitely go back again to try more of the menu.

Google
Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Standout was the naan appetizer with baba ganoush and feta. It was outstanding! I’d go back just to have that again. Nice place for a birthday lunch.

Google
The food wes quite good, my least fav was the ribeye, well cooked but a bit thin and the sauce was a tad sweet for my taste but over all a fantastic meal.

Google
Popped in for a late lunch and it was delicious. The atmosphere is elevated but not fussy, and it was nice and cozy on a cold afternoon. Comfort foods like popovers, Brussels sprouts and Spanish octopus were all perfectly prepared. The salad was beautiful. Creative cocktails with a few non alcoholic options are also available. Service is polite and efficient. We tend to dine at odd hours so it wasn't crowded when we arrived but it was quite lively by the time we left.

Google
great experience at the wolf! the service could’ve been better for sure, but such a great atmosphere and dishes. we got the little gem salad not pictured which was divine even the pickiest eater at the table enjoyed it. as for the mains, there was room for improvement in the asparagus risotto and the halibut. the restaurant demographic skews older so maybe that was the reason for the lack of salt. the burger was fantastic and in the running for one of bay areas best burgers for me. the pickles are a bit off putting though. the desserts here are amazing try as many of them as you can. the chocolate mousse was delightful and not too rich and sweet just the perfect bite. the banana caramel cake was also delicious the banana and or coconut wasn’t too overpowering and everything when together very well. would come back if the options for main entrees switched out a little bit.

Yelp
I popped in here just to have a drink. I tried their French 75 and asked for St. George Gin. It was delicious! As I'm now on a low carb diet it's tricky finding things to eat when I'm out and about. Not so here. I ordered the duck pate and they substituted the toast for endive. Spectacular! I paired it with a glass of their Laurent-Perrier Brut. Heaven. The pate is almost as good as foie gras. Could be my new hang out!

Yelp
The Wolf is my one of current favorite nearby restaurants. The food, cocktails, service are all excellent. Reservations are a must. The challenge I have with this place is that the decor and atmosphere do not match the high level of service provided. The dining rooms have a vibe of "yard sale furniture left in your college apartment after you've moved out". It's hollow and not cozy. And yet the servers are wiping the tables down and changing your settings after every course. It feels out of place, but I don't want to give it up. Instead I'd like to see some effort made to bring the atmosphere up to match. Cozy, sophisticated, comfortable. Thank you. The exception is a seat at the bar, where the vibe and service are harmonious.

Yelp
The last time we ate here was probably two decades ago when the restaurant was still called Bay Wolf. We had any early dinner reservation at 5:30pm and it was quite easy to find street parking within a block of the restaurant right on Piedmont Ave, though by 6pm, most of the empty spots had been taken so leave yourself time to find a spot and walk (if needed). We found the ambiance quite casual and relaxed. There was definitely a buzz in the place, especially as it filled up for dinner service, but it was never so loud that we couldn't hold a conversation. I really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, which was a great way to unwind after a long day working. Our server was fantastic - knowledgeable about the menu, he was efficient and courteous even while juggling 6-8 tables. He was awesome with the wine service as well - bringing us extra glasses and always checking if we wanted another splash. I'm used to servers that open bottles and then are never seen again but that wasn't the case here at all. Overall, the food was excellent. We enjoyed some dishes more than others, but everything was well-executed and really showcased the fresh ingredients sourced by the restaurant. We started with the duck liver pate toast and the Spanish octopus. The pate was delicious, but quite a large portion for two people. I'd highly recommend splitting this between four people as it's quite heavy and contains quite a lot of bread. The octopus was incredible - we both commented that this was the most tender octopus we've ever had and we really enjoyed the slight crisp batter on the outside and the fried chickpeas, which offered some textural contrast. I had the branzino as my main and my wife had the pork chop. I have to say, 95% of the time when I get fish, the skin isn't crisp or doesn't stay crisp by the time the plate comes out, but that absolutely wasn't the case here. The skin was super crisp without overcooking any of the flesh - absolutely perfectly cooked. The quinoa was swimming in a bit too much olive oil for my liking though. The pork chop was perfectly cooked. If you're not a fan of medium pork, you might want to mention this when you order because they didn't ask for the temp for us. The chop was so juicy, flavorful, and tender. If I had one minor complaint, I would've liked slightly better trimming to remove some of the larger chunks of fat, but totally recognize that some people love this. To end the meal, we shared the peach hand pies. The crust was so delicate, buttery, and flaky - you could wrap anything in this pastry and it would be delicious. The wine list is pretty good. They have about 40-45 labels of all different varietals, styles, and price points. The less expensive bottles (under $60/bottle) all had pretty large markups, easily 2.5x+ wholesale cost of the bottle, but this is fairly standard practice these days. Overall, we had a very enjoyable dinner. Excellent food and service, wonderfully relaxing ambiance, and great wine! What's not to like?

Yelp
I had a lovely dinner here! The service was attentive (our water glasses were kept full), and the whole restaurant felt classy without feeling oppressive. And the food and drinks were great! Here are the details: I'm once again thrilled to report that I encountered a wonderful non-alcoholic cocktail menu. Feeling bold, I ordered the thyme after thyme. This drink was delicious and refreshing and not at all soapy (which sometimes happens with astringent herbal flavors). In fact, this drink was so wonderful that my boyfriend switched drinks with me! He ordered the aperitif spritz, which I also loved because it was so full of bitters. This spritz tasted like all the best bitter elements of a fresh cut grapefruit. It was fun to nurse this drink all through my meal. For appetizers, we got the popover and the duck liver pâté toast. The popover was perfect and the boyfriend and I playfully argued over every last crumb. The pâté was tragically disappointing. Sure, it was absolutely beautiful coming out, but the only thing you could taste on the toast was the peppery chutney drowning the pâté. I don't actually like duck liver and thought the toast wasn't so bad, but the boyfriend who LOVES pâté did not care for this dish at all. The entrees were roaring successes, however! I love duck confit and will order it given half a chance. This was a great duck confit: the meat fell easily off the bone, the tartness of the stone fruit balanced the natural savoriness of the duck. The cornbread soaked up all the juice on the plate. It was a perfect dish. The pork chop was also wonderful! I love a pork chop with a sweet sauce and still this pork chop exceeded my expectations. The flavors were totally on point. Perhaps the pork chop was a smidge on the dry side, but it was almost impossible to tell underneath the figs and sauce.

Yelp
As always the food was delicious. The Wolf does not miss! That said, it's a pet peeve of mine to be corrected by the waiter-- especially more than once. Jared made too grand gesture of folding my hubby's napkin when he made the mistake of putting it on the table before he was done, and corrected my pronunciation of Sauterns, for example. He also cut off our sentences a few times. We probably bantered too much for him in our celebratory mood.

Yelp
Wonderful place for a nice evening out. Great vibes and relaxing place to enjoy an extended meal. The duck pate was my favorite dish - rich flavors balanced by a tad of sweetness. The butter was better than the dipping sauce for the bread. The sauce went a bit much on the balsamic. We got the steak, the wild boar pappardelle and the branzino to share. The wild boar pappardelle was definitely the best! Great flavors in the meat and the noodles were wonderful. Service was excellent and the wine list is very good. My friends got cocktails and enjoyed them. The outdoor seating on the porch was really lovely and nice.

Yelp
Love, love, love! The Wolf is the perfect spot to celebrate a milestone, or if you're looking for an intimate environment. I came with my partner to celebrate our 3 year anniversary and we sat on the patio; the windows are sliding panes depending on the temperature but they also have outdoor heaters on the ceiling. For appetizers, we had the Spanish octopus which was cooked perfectly with a light char topped on a bed of crispy chickpeas and a yogurt sauce. We also had the duck liver pate toast which I don't think it's for me, but I know it's a fan favorite. My partner had the burger which he raved about. I stole a few pieces of his fries with their house made aioli which was so yummy. I had the Manila clam spaghetti and the pasta was cooked Al dente and the sauce was extremely flavorful. Afterwards, we opted out of dessert because we were too full but our server surprised us with a small dessert which was extremely rich and delicious. It was such a sweet gesture, we can't wait to come back!

Yelp
If I'm curt with you it's because time is a factor. I think fast, I talk fast and I need you guys to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please... with sugar on top. Clean the fucking car -- The Wolf, "Pulp Fiction" My car is definitely not clean. And time was not a factor here because last night I thoroughly enjoyed a 3 hour dinner of five with architects and a principal from Equity Residential. What a cool restaurant, with genuine service and outstanding food. And after having dinner at Commis 6 months ago, I can honestly say Piedmont Ave rocks as a Bay Area foodie destination. Everything was excellent: Octopus, Oysters, Duck confit, naan, wagyu steak, veggie polenta, pork chop. Shareable plates and the wine list is interesting with reasonable prices. I brought a Cabernet and we started with a very good Italian white wine off the list. There are other excellent choices as well. Parking is street and felt safe in the evening. Wish I had come to The Wolf sooner. Someone else paid last night but I would happily pay myself to have dinner here. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Amazing dining experience from start to finish! Our waiter was fantastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Just the right level of attention. The restaurant was lively and had great energy on a Friday night. The area around the bar was a bit louder than the room off the side. The food was hands down 10/10. Every single dish, which hardly ever happens. Really interesting flavors and twists for each dish. Unexpected in the best way!

Yelp
Celebrated my MIL's birthday having dinner here it was her choice. They were busy at 5:30 when we arrived for our reservation but were seated quickly. It did take about 10 minutes to order drinks but after that the service was as it is expected to be at a restaurant like this fast and frequent. The menu had a nice selection of meats like beef, pork, chicken and fish. We ordered 1 of each and were happy with our meals. What they didn't have was vegan choices. They only had a fresh pasta option which is made with eggs and a flatbread which is what my FIL ended up ordering because he didn't want to eat a salad. Casual vibe with muted decor.

Such a great experience and food! The place is beautiful and very clean. The staff is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about their food. Highly recommended for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
It was a party of 3 for dinner at The Wolf. Birthday season is in full effect. The honoree chose this restaurant and a good choice I will add It is always great eating great food and celebrating each other. There was a great mix of food ordered. I always order the burger if there's one on the menu. The birthday girl ordered the seafood stew and we had appetizers and wonderful drinks. The service and server were on point. Dessert was a scrumptious homemade ice cream sandwich. Amazing way to end the night.

Yelp
This neighborhood gem offers top quality service and menu offerings. A bustling vibe creates the ambiance and surroundings that are conducive to enjoyment of the meal (and drinks!). All professionals here, smiling folks bringing their A game. I'm glad to have stopped in, hope to return next time I am in the mood for a creative menu in an upscale yet approachable spot. Bravo The Wolf. Good people in staff!

Yelp
The Wolf: Drinks: fantastic chard and mixed cocktail (5/5) Food: pate toast, umami bucatini, smoked steelhead salad, fries, cod sando (5/5) Service: Dan = awesomely attentive (5/5). Ambience: new bay with an homage to old bay leanings (5/5) Went with friends everyone enjoyed everything very much. I struggle to see how people review Wolf as a four star restaurant, and not a 4 1/2 star restaurant here on Yelp. A Great epicurean experience: accessible, friendly, stellar food with good consistency (quality and presentation) across multiple offerings (both food and beverages). Head on over, Wolf does not disappoint!

Yelp
7.12.2024 - Not quite what I expected. It's always hard to get reservations at this spot so this time, I decided to walk-in with my girls. Friendly hostess who took our name and number down was probably the only genuine and professional service that we've received. Waited about 30 min for 3 bar seatings to open up. Forget the name of our server/bartender, apparently, she was "new" and she had some long red nails, which I found it to be pretty unprofessional. Also, her service seemed really off. Let me elaborate. First issue: From getting our waters to drinks, it took a while. Second issue: Requested extra bread, but didn't get it until our meals were served. Third issue: My gf asked for her thoughts on two dishes, but her food pitch was very....basic. After deciding on getting the Duck Confit, our server repeated her order and somehow thought it she ordered Foie Gras. Of course, my gf corrected the order. When our entree's were served, instead of Duck Confit, it was Foie Gras. Once the food runner dropped off the plate, we immediately told him, "we ordered the Duck Confit." He took it away, looking annoyed, and without any apology or acknowledgment that it was a mistake. Fourth issue: The Duck Confit was extremely salty. At this point, my poor gf was hungry so instead of sending it back, she just ate it. Fifth issue: When our bill arrived, we saw that the server/bartender didn't charge us for our drinks. As honest people, we notified her. She immediately added our drinks to the tab, but when I saw the new receipt, she charged me for the most expensive glass of champagne when the champagne I've ordered was middle price range. Unbelievable. How shady is this chick? She apologized and said that she was new on the job. I kinda want to believe her and I kinda don't. Regardless, too many mishaps for our first experience dining at The Wolf. She probably needed a shadow or someone overseeing her work, but shouldn't have been allowed to be on her own because it made our experience super sour. It's not like the food made up for horrible service. They both fell short.

Yelp
Just went back to try it again. Food and atmosphere were amazing. Went with a group and it was family style and all items were delicious. One person was vegetarian and the chef made an entirely separate plate for the individual. Will go back

Yelp
Such a neighborhood gem! The vibe here is cozy and welcoming, and the drinks and food were incredible. We started with the duck pâté toast (so good) and then had the duck and pork chop..both cooked perfectly. Our server Jared was awesome and made the night even more special as we were celebrating an occasion. If you're looking for a farm-to-table place with cozy vibes, delicious food, and a warm atmosphere that isn't overly fancy but feels just right, this is it. Highly recommend and making a reservation! It was a packed spot on a weeknight!

Yelp
We had a simply lovely lunch today to celebrate a special birthday on the patio. We loved the burger and fries. It was cooked to perfection with cheese and amazing fries. We also loved the little gem salad and run dessert cake. Most of all our server , Melanie, made the day with her kindness and amazing service. Thank you to the whole team.

Yelp
The Sakura pork chop Milanese is a giant piece of meat pounded flat and served katsu style. Delicious sauce on top with carrots and arugula. We also got fries for the table. Fresh cut. Delicious meal!

Yelp
We came here for our 18th anniversary. It was a very quiet, sweet spot to celebrate at. The waiter was super nice and very attentive. We ordered a salad, brussel sprouts, the rotisserie chicken and the duck. Everything was really decent. I would say the rotisserie chicken was pretty spicy though. So if you cannot handle spicy food - def wanna get something else. Their dessert menu looked good, but we were too full to indulge ourselves. The server was super sweet and brought one of their lemon curd ice cream sandwiches for us to celebrate our anniversary with. It was definitely the best ice cream sandwich I've had in my life. The cookie was like a ginger molasses with tart lemon ice cream. It was honestly the highlight of the meal. Def must get!

Yelp
Really good food with decent service. We had a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night for dinner. Upon arrival we were seated immediately on the patio. The servers were fairly attentive and willing to switch out our plates when requested between courses. They did seem a little busy though and were not quite as attentive as I would expect at this price point. Drinks also came out a little slow. The food however was delicious. We got the octopus, tartare and pork. This was some of the most tender pork I have ever had, highly recommend. The tartare and octopus were also amazing. I really enjoyed the crispy char on the octopus and the fried garlic combined with the creamy tartare was outstanding.

Yelp
I've been to the Wolf twice. Once for cocktails, which were delightful. The second time for dinner. Dinner was fantastic. We started with the popover, naan, tomato & peaches and octopus. They were all delicious, though the naan and tomato & peaches were my favorite. From there, we had the bucatini cacio e pepe (soo good), scallops (even better) and fisherman's stew (this was the one dish that I found disappointing - the white fish was a little overcooked and there weren't other seafood items in the dish, which I should have known from the menu but apparently have come to expect from a fisherman's stew). We finished the meal with a dessert that was like a panna cotta with fresh fruit and crumble on top. I wish I remembered the name. I didn't have the highest expectations - I'm not a huge dessert person. But this dessert was perfection - so light, airy and flavorful. We also of course ordered a few cocktails throughout the meal, which did not disappoint. Our server was so friendly and wonderful for the first half of the meal. Not sure what happened on the back half, but he seemed a little irritated with us, so that was kind of a bummer. But it was still overall a great evening. This is a great spot for a date night or catching up with a group of friends. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance were amazing. Jerrod was our server and exemplifies the kind of attitude and service every manager and owner should strive for to represent their brand and business. We will be back for the octopus. Or was it the scallops? No, it was definitely the ribeye. But that bottle of wine was delicious too. We left The Wolf howling!

Yelp
Our family group of 9, celebrating 4 June birthdays, had a fabulous dinner @ Wolf last night. The food was delicious, the service fantastic, and the ambiance felt like home. The special cocktails were superb, as was the suggested wine. We sampled several appetizers & enjoyed them all. We tried a variety of the entrees from the risotto, duck, pork chop, burger, and halibut. Everyone finished everything on their plates. A special shout out to Jackie, our waiter. His bright smile lit up the room and he made our celebration spectacular!

Yelp
I ventured here twice in one month because I wanted to be sure it wasn't a fluke the first time! It wasn't- everything and everyone was great! Menu was not overwhelming. Portions of food were perfect. Warm and pleasant environment with welcoming staff. The cocktails were amazing and dare I say perfect! Parking is a bit of struggle- if you can take a car share service- do it! The. You can eat and drink to your hearts delight! Can't wait to treat myself to another experience here!

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area. The portion sizes are good enough (maybe the octopus dish could have been slightly larger) and the flavors are absolutely delicious. The cocktails were well balanced and delicious. Our server was extremely personable and knowledgeable and cleared and replaced each place setting between courses which was a nice touch at this price point. The space seems to be an old house that was converted into a restaurant which had some charm. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Very delicious food and even better service. Came here the other night and ordered the pork chop which was easily one of the best pork chops I've eaten. Perfectly seasoned/cooked. Also, they have some of the most professional staff in the business. Everyone is extremely attentive and always ready to help with a request. This place is a hidden gem.

Yelp
Food, service, ambiance: most. excellent. ....as were the brussel sprouts. This is gonna sound weird - but I can't stop thinking about them...ANYWAY There were fancy cocktails which the cocktail people rated favorably, the duck was great, the pasta with the lamb-yummy-& don't get me started on the desserts...but the sprouts...oh baby oh baby..

Yelp
Honestly incredible. Everything about this place is amazing. The food, unmatched. The service, the best in arguably all of the Bay Area. The ambiance, perfection. I came here with my husband and had such a pleasant experience that we came a week later. Dan was an awesome server, Melanie and Britt were also so warm and helpful. Do yourself a favor and come here!

Yelp
Service 5/5 Food 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 Had a wonderful lunch at The Wolf. Came on a Thursday at 1pm with a friend and was seated right away. The staff was very kind. Cod Sandwich with Fries - very tasty and light. Good flavor and would recommend. Matatlan - great mix of pineapple and mezcal Would recommend!

Yelp
Everything we had was underwhelming. Let's start off with the pop over that basically tasted like an onion bagel. The pop over had black pepper but only on the top, so it's not consistent. The onion butter was okay, but mixed together with the popover you get the flavor of a subpar onion bagel with some fresh cheese on top with the pecorino. My coworkers pesto pasta was overpowered with the chili oil and the waitress that said this would be a hearty meal must have mistaken my coworker for an 6 year old because it was more like an appetizer. The corn soup was lackluster, overwhelmed by the paprika and cream. Barely had any corn flavor. My fish sandwich was one of the blandest fish sandwiches I've ever had. Just fish fried with no seasoning. Plain, or so it tasted. I added all the dressing I could to it to give it some flavor, and it still couldn't save this sad white fish. Fries were an extra upsell, and it was lukewarm and meh. Give me Wingstop or fast food fries over these any day. My horchata ice cream with churros was the worst. Who puts cold churros in between the horchata ice cream with what tasted like canned peaches. It was an odd first grader moment where I felt like some child dreamed up this dish. Sad all around. The server was also unfriendly and seemed overwhelmed with her tables. I can't recommend this place. We barely had a 3 star average experience.

Macy M.

Yelp
Rude waitress made us feel so rushed and not important at all, we ordered so much food , the ahi , bread, salad , gazpacho, ribeye , and lobster pasta , wine , 2 mixed drinks, surely we should have been treated kindly , NO. Also the reviews are deceptive. This is NOT 5 star food. The ahi taste like McDonalds collab with non sushi grade fish, the ribeye was so tough my mouth hurts and there was no lobster in the pasta . The mixed drinks taste rancid honestly. I'm so upset about this experience I was so optimistic and happy to be there. Bread was the best thing we had. Go somewhere else .

Yelp
Ambiance is great, we had a business dinner here and it was a good fit for what we needed. Not too fancy but not too casual, somewhere in between. Very cozy inside, upstairs. Definitely overpriced for what it is. The appetizers were the highlight for me. The popover and the Brussels are good. I'm vegetarian and they only had 1 option for the entree and it was risotto, which was super oily and disappointing. The flavor wasn't near what I'd expect for a creamy mushroom risotto. Apparently the ribeye was good, they put a nice chunk of truffle butter on top. The cocktails were OK. Overly sweet in my opinion. Old fashioned had too much simple. The service was extraordinary. I think that's what set it apart for me. I wish they had more vegetarian options, especially being on Piedmont in Oakland.

Yelp
Really amazing place. Highly recommend. Nice people, friendly vibe, and INCREDIBLE food. Highly recommend the rock fish dishes, and the Amante cocktail. I have not been to a place that makes you feel so welcome; message to management: NEVER CHANGE

Yelp
I love The Wolf, so much so that I'm ready to pronounce it my local. I've had all manner of meals here from board dinners to BFF catch ups, date nights, and plenty of midday meals. It's great for nearly any occasion. During my last dinner here I split the French onion soup, beet salad, burger, and apple cider donut cake with my husband. My friend and I shared the butter lettuce and pea shoot salad, meyer lemon spaghetti, and the italian cold cut sandwich when we most recently lunched at the Wolf. The food and service is always spectacular.

Yelp
Fantastic place for a bite on Piedmont. The special curated menu for the season made it difficult to chose the best item for our lunch. The rosemary pappardelle was flavorful and a unique dish that couldn't be replicated at another restaurant. Definitely would love to try more form their menu. Overall, service was great, even if our party was for 12! The server always checked in, and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Amazing restaurant in the Oakland hills! The Wolf was one of the first restaurants that was recommended to my wife and I when we moved to the East Bay. I can see why... We were sat at the bar and were greeted by the bartender. He went through the menu with us and offered his suggestions on what to order. The menu changes based on what's in season, but I ordered the risotto and was blown away by how well it was prepped. Flavor wise, it was immaculate! The salads were all great and the oysters were started with were delicious. We are definitely going back and will be a part of our restaurant rotation!

Yelp
The service was exceptional and the quality of the product was outstanding. The only problem was there was a fly in the dining room and constantly hovering our food.

Yelp
Based on the reviews and hype I have to say this didn't live up to my expectations. Pretty high prices for what you get, and the service wasn't particularly good. The competition for restaurants is stiff in this area, so while it was fine, I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
I had called a few days ahead of time to make a reservation for a party of 5. Came here with family for a dinner, as my brother was visiting from out of town. We had a reservation, and when we arrived, we were told that the party sitting at our table were wrapping up a birthday party and it was going to be a short wait. Okay, fine. We waited. And we waited. Half an hour passed. Understandably, we were upset. My brother, a New Yorker, was pissed. And that's putting it nicely. The waitstaff brought over champagne for him to try to make it up for the wait. They kept telling us the birthday party was going to leave. 45 minutes passed. That was unacceptable. My brother said in New York, any restaurant that made you wait, especially when you had a reservation, would go out of business. Still waiting. Jeez, whose birthday party was being celebrated? Some sort of entitled celebrity who overstayed their welcome? We walked out. We were halfway down the block when a hostess chased us down and told us our table was FINALLY ready and persuaded us to come back. We came back, but my brother gave the poor gal an earful while she led us to the table to be seated. Once we were seated, the food and service did make up for it. I suspect that the waitstaff must have been instructed to go above and beyond with service to make up for the egregious wait. WHAT WE HAD: 1. Complimentary fries. My mom raved these were the best fries she's had. 2. Garlic naan is amazing 3. Octopus was so soft and tender, not rubbery nor chewy 4. Duck was flavorful with crispy skin 5. Scallops were alright 6. Steak was phenomenal 7. For dessert, the chocolate tahini caramel tart was great. The waiter, a bespectacled African-American gentleman, ended up vibing with my brother. He gave great wine recommendations, gave my brother wine tastings (my brother and his girlfriend are total wine snobs), and made lovely pairings with the food. 5 stars for food. But the wait really was atrocious, especially for a reservation, and would receive 1 star by New York standards.

Yelp
The vibe, the service and the food is always amazing at the Wolf. My friend and I hadn't seen each other and so we were just dying to catch-up during our dinner. We never felt rushed or that we needed to order more food just to hang out. The star of the show for dinner tonight was their strawberry crostini. It was Ana amazing balance of the sweetness of the strawberry and honey against the savory richness of the whipped feta. It was so good I had to pause in our chatting to thoroughly enjoy it!!
