Where to Eat, Stay, and Play in the Adirondacks—the Birthplace of the American Vacation

"Just opened in Tupper Lake, the Woodshed on Park serves French-Canadian-influenced comfort dishes, such as Québec-style shepherd’s pie. Its intimate setting is all dark wood and low lighting, which invites whiling away the evening over craft cocktails."

Literally cannot say enough nice things about this place. The ambience is so cozy and unique. It feels like a place you could spend forever in. We reserved for my besties birthday and got seated at a table with menus that said happy birthday on them so that little extra touch was just so thoughtful. We shared a couple of dishes and they were soooooooo phenomenal. Cooked to perfection and the flavor profiles were insane. Our server, Alissa was extremely lovely. The best attitude and absolutely made our night! She was so attentive and thoughtful. We felt so welcomed and appreciated the whole time. We already had such a good day and she really just elevated the good vibes to the next level! I got two different martinis and BOTH were so so good. And we got to try, at the end of dinner, the Persephone’s curse which i had already been eyeballing at the beginning of dinner and it was sooooo refreshing. Thank you to everyone for making this night so special! If I didn’t live so far away I would be here regularly. It was hard to leave at the end tbh😂

The Woodshed on Park is a cozy gem in Tupper Lake. I had the chicken and biscuits, and it was one of the best comfort meals I’ve had in a long time. The biscuits were golden and buttery, the chicken was tender, and the gravy brought everything together perfectly. The cocktail was balanced and delicious, and the warm, rustic atmosphere was complete with charming Halloween touches made the whole experience even better. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

We are visiting Lake Placid and decided to see what is there nearby for food. We found this place on Google Maps and decided to go. The service was great, the cocktails were delicious, the corn ribs and sourdough bread with mushroom pate were the starts of the night. We order the signature burger medium, but we got them well done and they were not to our liking. The lemon buttermilk pie was good, but the peach one kind of undercooked.

Hands down one of the best restaurants in the area (and entire upstate area)!! We love ALL the food we ordered and the service is excellent. Their spread and bread is must try, the best bread ever! We were staying in the area for two nights and definitely regretted not going back for the second night. You cannot find any place better than them. Decoration and mood is so great, and they have their own mech!

Awesome place for a dinner. Service was outstanding, team was on top during entire meal. Cocktails were really well done and on point. The Brussels sprouts appetizer is really good, as the main dish we had the Fried Chicken which was probably one of the best we’ve ever had but the corn bread can be better, we also had the Chops which was underwhelming and the Steak which was really good, although at $45 was certainly overpriced. Desserts can definitely be improved. With all this said the place is definitely worth a visit.

My partner and I came to eat here for New Years Eve and this place did NOT disappoint. This restaurant is an experience and it seems those who don’t like it, probably need to get their loyalty cards at Applebees exclusively and leave this place for the people who have culture, class and understand art. This place could be in any major city with a Michelin rating. We got the prefixed menu, which was so wonderful to be guided through extremely well thought out flavors, pairings, and the service couldn’t have been more perfect. Our server was attentive without being overbearing (I think her name was Kiah? Kaya?) and incredibly knowledgeable on everything. I’ve dined across the country and to find service like this in a small town in the Adirondack was shocking, dare I say heartening? To be served a meal with such care by another person is exactly the energy of how I wanted to go into 2026. I’m especially dreaming about that sunchokes & truffle tart. Will visit again…. Also for the seasonal cocktail menu that was incredible. Again shocked to find such high quality in the middle of upstate NY.

Google
Spooky yet cozy funky decor with intimate yet casual vibes, excellent and interesting from-scratch food that was all hits and no misses, creative tasty craft cocktails, fun and casual-yet-professional service that walked the line perfectly between attentive and giving us space to enjoy our meal, the spruce tip ice cream was such a fun surprise! Really wonderful evening. Every bit of staff in front and back of house on Friday August 1sts first seating did a great job.

Good Lord! Go here, OK?!? What a fantastic place/ environment/ food/ service... ALL of it! Bees Knees, Spicy Marg, Tom Collins, NY Strip, Skillet Chicken Biscuits... no dessert for us but the little gift box truffle they give you was a little kiss on the cheek goodbye!

Yelp
Went with a group, we ordered plenty of dishes to share, maybe too many ! However, everything was so delicious we cleaned every bowl and plate, hmmmm! Simply great food presented and served wonderfully, period. Staff was super and did a very nice job with our table. We'll stop there again, for sure. Strongly recommend.

Yelp
Best restaurant I've eaten at in the Adirondacks, hands down. Fantastic service, fun alt vibes, and delicious food. My body was craving fresh produce and Woodshed delivered in spades. Don't skip this Tupper Lake gem!

Yelp
We are visiting the area and went to The Woodshed on the recommendation of our Airbnb host. What a wonderful experience! The ambience is very cozy and intimate with the lighting and all of the warm woods- unique and very well done. Staff was great- friendly, attentive, and efficient. I enjoyed a fun cocktail (they specialize in these) which was delicious -presentation was so cute with a miniature clothespin holding a sprig of herb to the rim. We shared the spoon salad and Smoked trout appetizer and enjoyed both. Our table chose the Trout and the Roasted Chicken large plates and both were awesome! Delicious French cooking with sauces that make you want to lick your plate clean! We highly recommend the restaurant!

Yelp
We loved the food!!!! Best chicken and biscuits ever, but not like any you have ever had before. Served in a cast iron skillet! With roasted carrots, chunks of chicken, a light gravy and topped by three homemade biscuits! The goat cheese was also fabulous! Served w grilled bread. Service was exceptional! Hostess was welcoming, staff was attentive. The ambience is amazing. Old books, old lamps, old dishes! An authentic coal stove greets you in the entryway and there is a commercial ice box in the bar! The most charming place I have been to!

Yelp
My wife & I had a lovely dinner at Woodshed - the servers were so nice and efficient and we just walked in a were sat immediately! The ambiance was super cool - I loved the vibe - it was a little dark, but it didn't feel overly intimate. As for the food - it was exactly what I was hoping for - super yummy, healthy and fresh. The bean & French onion dips were delicious and the fried chicken & Pate (Sheppard pie) was so good! I'd definitely come back again, no question!

Yelp
Amazing food and service not to mention the cocktails. Owned and operated by local people and using locally sourced ingredients, this shows what Tupper Lake people can do! It's small so get there before they are at capacity!

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant with a great cocktail and drink menu. Had some great bites and starter plates. Fast and efficient service. Very fresh herb forward in flavor profile and comforting classic dishes. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
An absolute gem! The atmosphere takes you back with all the antiques that decorate the place. The food is "comfort food elevated" if that is a thing. Four of us enjoyed 3 different appetizers/small plates. For dinner we shared 2 and both were just awesome! Cocktails were amazing and oh so amazing! Loved this place!!!

Yelp
We had a great meal at the Woodshed on Park celebrating a friends birthday. The ambiance, service and food were 100%+++.

Yelp
The owners Siobhan and Evan are not only incredibly knowledgeable about food and beverage but they know how to provide an experience for their customer. I cannot get over how beautiful the restaurant is, and I didn't expect NYC vibes in upstate NY (or honestly NYC quality, which is what we got.) Blown away. Siobhan's knowledge of wine is incredible and if you like good and natural wine she's the absolute expert in my book.

Yelp
Absolutely check this place out. Amazing service; wonderful cocktails, and great food. The ambiance and design is also pretty cool. This is definitely a very welcome addition to the dining scene in Tupper Lake. The one downfall is that they do not take reservations so there is a chance you'll need to wait. I would recommend getting there early.

Yelp
We heard so much about this place! The couple who own it apparently have years of restaurant experience in NYC and other well know places. The ambiance is cozy and warm, beautiful decor and detail. The food was incredible! They are a welcome addition to the few good places to eat in the park. I will visit them every time I am here. We had the bacon wrapped dates, which melted in your mouth. The cornbread was served in cast iron so it was crunchy around the edges a bit, fresh baked, with a plate of honey butter for dipping. The chicken and biscuits were fluffy and flavorful. The burger was excellent and they have home made fries and house made bun. While we didn't have a cocktail, which they are know for, we enjoyed their wine selection. They literally have a pot belly stove in the kitchen to create their own coals to cook on (did I mention the burger was yummy?). They go the extra mile here - well worth a drive for dinner!
