10 Best Brunch Places in Dublin | Condé Nast Traveler

"Old meets new at this charming eatery by the Ha’penny Bridge, on the north side of the River Liffey. Set in a four-story, century-old space where James Joyce once worked—albeit, transformed with modern-rustic flair and featuring a heated rooftop—the team behind sister restaurant The Winding Staircase serves homemade baked goods and modern Irish dishes that are as generous as they are flavorful, drawing a crowd of neighborhood regulars and plugged-in tourists. The comfortable vibe makes it an easy pick for casual breakfasts and afternoon tea, while the upscale presentation (and prices) and touches like white tablecloths and fresh flowers take things up a notch at night." - Sandra Ramani

We ordered starter wings nachos and 2 sides of chips plus two alcoholic drinks. Chips were good, but we got 3 different sauces and I'm not exaggerating when I say they all tasted the same. The nachos where also pretty awful, soggy and unseasoned, if I wanted a bowl of soup I would have ordered it I would have cut my losses and moved on if they didn't charge us a 10% mandatory service charge that wasn't disclosed anywhere. We were two people, the restourant was half empty, it's standard to disclose mandatory tips, what a way to scam people into paying when you never gave them an opportunity to decide. Not only that who charges 20€ for a starter portion of nachos, especially when the menu said 16€??? 76euro for a little snack and a drink in the sun 💀💀💀 never again (chips were good tho, not mandatory 10% service charge good)

Google
The food was okay. Our server was a lady who perhaps was having a bad day. She seemed a bit irritated the whole time we were there. We say " good aftenoon", she gives us a blank stare. We say " thank you," she responds "eh.". And the bill comes with a mandatory 10% tip.

Google should really rethink the rating system and also have an option for zero stars. Because this is what this kind of place deserves. The waitress is friendly, but this did not make the fact, that the food was disgusting, go away. We are staying ok “Motel one”, so almost next door, and we already overslept for breakfast. So we went to this place to grab a bite. I ordered the “Burrata, courgettes, tomato pesto & pea vinaigrette”. What came was, the round usual piece of burrata decorated with the rest of the ingredients mentioned above. That’s it! Not even bread. The combination of taste turned out to be absolutely disgusting. Even with bread which we got served after we asked it was absolutely inedible. I would go so far to say disgusting. The Ambiance on the webpage is completely misleading. At least where we were sitting, the style was meant to impress a shabby-chic look, I guess. In reality the place looks rather trashy, starting off the floor, over the walls and so on. Cheap will be the right description. I have no idea how this place has survived so far with all the competition around. The beef sandwich that my husband ordered had nothing to do with a traditional beef sandwich at all. he said it tasted like it was prepackaged and the beef was hardly to be noticed between the ciabatta bread. We got charged for the sandwich, even though we both tried it and left it on the plates. God bless whoever came up with the kitchen menu and good luck.

Google
Food was good but for the price was expecting better. But it is a nice location for watching people and a nice atmosphere. Also should be more I was disappointed that there is no Guinness.

Google
Came for lunch and we both ordered the croque monsieur. Service was really friendly and efficient. The servings were large and delicious. Although slightly on the more expensive side, we would recommend this restaurant and would return.

The Irish Chef Abroad

Google
Fantastic restaurant named after the previous occupants of the building, the wooden mills. This is a cool trendy space with a fantastic riverside location. The staff are excellent and friendly. Very professional. Food was pretty decent but not quite perfect. Issue was immediately dealt with by the floor staff so we still had to a positive experience.

Google
Terrible experience at this restaurant. waiter was very rude to us, multiple hairs in the food, our group was moved to a smaller table in the middle of our meal to accommodate another walk in group and our drinks didn't arrive until after we finished eating. For such an expensive spot it was very unprofessional. Tourist trap to be avoided. Also there was a mandatory 10% service charge.

Google
Great food, service is excellent. I recommend to try the fish and chips!!!! Loved it.

Yelp
This is a well positioned restaurant that has amble outdoor seating which is perfect on a warm day in Dublin. The food menu is not what I'd call traditional Irish food -- seems to be more inspired by the US (Austin zones to mind for both the feel and taste of the place). Food is nicely presented, and service is professional. I went at lunch time on a Monday and so was not too busy. No problem getting a table.

Yelp
We came here for dinner one night. We started with a round of drinks, then had a burger, nachos, and steak for dinner. The food was surprisingly good for how it appeared. I was hesitant to order the nachos, but they were actually some of the best nachos we had while in Dublin. The place was cute and well kept and the staff were all really nice.

Yelp
Top notch food! Gorgeous location! Helpful and friendly staff! I loved it here! I would come back!

Yelp
A heads up for any minorities or generally just people interested in eating at Woollen Mills next door...As an Asian woman, I did not feel welcome. I was hurt & disappointed when I was refused seating after watching two entirely Caucasian parties ahead of me (one a walk-in for sure) get seated in a half empty restaurant. I was told by the host that the restaurant was fully booked...only to walk around the corner & book online a reservation for 15 minutes after my in-person inquiry. I walked by Woollen Mills multiple times during our stay in Dublin...no people of color, definitely NO minority parties seated at their tables. This is strange given how many international travelers are in Dublin in July. Not sure if you'll receive similar treatment at their sister property next door, The Winding Stair.

Yelp
Cute spot on the corner. Amazing and friendly staff. Tried the gnocchi (10/10), Cesar salad and Fig cinnamon old fashion (on the sweeter side which I like).

Lesley G.

Yelp
So glad we had dinner here. I had the roast chicken which was amazing and my husband had the lamb rage which he loved. Service and ambiance was great as well.
google avatar

Yelp
I came here for dinner with my siblings while on a trip to Dublin last week. The cocktails were great, and the restaurant is right on the canal which is so pretty. We started with the nachos, which were good! Nothing too special, but definitely scratched the itch for some Mexican cuisine while overseas. My sister and I shared the chicken dish, and my brother ordered the pork pasta. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, but the quinoa underneath it lacked in flavor and didn't do much for the dish. My brother loved his pasta. Service was quick!

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch and a drink. We sat outside, it was a beautiful day. Great place to people watch. Coming from America I thought we had good burgers but this was the best burger I've ever had. The taste as great. It was as they took a top quality steak, seasoned it up, ground it into a burger then cooked it. Damn it was good. The service was quick and they checked on us often to see if we needed anything. We'll be back in Dublin in a couple of weeks. I'm coming back here for sure

Yelp
I was in a group of 6. Great service, the staff were attentive & friendly. Lovely food, which came quickly. Good price. The ambience was very relaxed & warm, a great place for good food & a chat
google avatar

Yelp
It's between 4 and 4.5 stars as the ambience is quite nice and spirited, and the food and drink matched! This was not a planned stop, but it is highly recommended - and they had a small submenu of vegan/vegetarian choices from which I chose the delicious beetroot/apple burger and chips. To top it off had the amazing Dungarvan Black Rock Irish Stout - yes, please! This place would definitely be on my list upon return to Dublin, for sure. The waitress was friendly and we were served promptly even though it was fairly busy! Yes, yes, yes!
google avatar

Ginger M.

Yelp
It's been over a month since I've been back in America and I still think about this meal. I had lots of good food while visiting Ireland and this by far was my favorite. Service was great and super cute. When I go back to Ireland I'm definitely going back.
google avatar

Lindsey O.

Yelp
The food was great and the service was friendly. They have a nice little outdoor patio that was fitting since it was a nice day. I had the sea bream and it was delicious - I'd been between that and the fish and chips but decided to go a little healthier. The flavor was so good I'm glad I did.
google avatar

Yelp
I was at the Woollen Mills on 08/01/2022(01/08/22 august) and we had the best meal! The beetroot hummus alone has me going back tonight for my last meal in Dublin. The staff are super friendly and helped us celebrate my friends birthday, without us asking, but just by a casual reminder to myself that it was his bday at midnight! It was lovely. They brought us a brownie topped with caramel ice cream! Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Randy T.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and enjoyed my meal. I got a table by the front window which has a nice view of Ha'penny Bridge. I got the chicken Caesar sandwich and it was delicious. They brought a whole carafe of water (which as an American I appreciated) and came back to check on me multiple times. The sandwich tasted very fresh and I enjoyed it. Overall I was satisfied with my experience

Yelp
Looking for a traditional full Irish breakfast in the city center (that was served before 10 AM - as most of the places we found were pubs and they didn't start serving breakfast until 10 AM), I happened upon The Woollen Mills with the help of Yelp. Located at the other side of Ha'Penny Bridge, just north of the Liffey, The Woollen Mills was modern and clean inside. My boyfriend and I both ordered their take on a full Irish breakfast and it did not disappoint. Two fried eggs (freshest eggs I've ever had), tomato, mushrooms, two thick slices of AMAZING toast, fresh Irish butter, blood pudding, sausage, and thick cut bacon ... we were in heaven. We devoured our plates and didn't eat for hours and hours later - but we were happy and full. And that's all that matters.
google avatar

Demi S.

Yelp
Such a cute little place, right in the heart of Dublin! Great ambience and a really nice menu. The staff was great and very knowledgeable. I would recommend the mushroom sandwich, and of course the chicken wings.
google avatar

Amy C.

Yelp
When I went I got a chicken Caesar salad and a margarita pizza. The food was decent nothing too different. I was disappointed at the service! The waitress who seated my boyfriend and I was quite rude. She only came to take my order once and never came back. I only drink water usually and she never came back to refill my water once. When I asked her for a box she seem frustrated and again never came back to give me a to go box or check in on my meal! My boyfriend had to go to the front to pay. Interestingly enough no where in Ireland asked for us to leave tip. The host asked my boyfriend "how much rio would you like to leave?". We regretfully informed him 0 because of the poor service.
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
Great service and food here at our first stop in Dublin! We had the cauliflower steak, capricciosa pizza, margherita pizza and Korean chicken burger. Sat outside on the patio overlooking the river.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic food!! Pizza was amazing and this is coming from NYers. Wings were yummy!!! Great service! Beautiful view. The side salad was soooooo fresh and simple, totally delicious!!

Yelp
What a gem! We had an amazing time at this quaint restaurant. Perfectly lit atmosphere, wonderful food and superb service. We are in town for only a short time but this would be a favorite frequent spot if we were local. We shared the Irish steak shell which was fantastic, and the burrata appetizer was incredible. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. Front of house staff need some training on friendliness. Asked for bill waited 20 min asked again followed by just pay at till. Food fine but again waited several minutes for a spoon to eat my granola. They eay they spoke to some of our wonderful tourists wasnt what you would call Irish hospitality. Walk on by in my view.these guys own other restaurants that are much better so what happened????

Lisa B.

Yelp
Very mediocre. Restaurant was empty but server rushed us to order. The gnocchi was overcooked and the lamb ragu tasted overly tomato-y. Burrata starter came with one slice of courgette and one grilled scallion - no bread. Which was fine since the Burrata was so firm that it wouldn't have been easy to spread. Companion's burger was ok. I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Popular bougey upscale brunch offering right near the river. Woollen Mills seems like it would be the kind of spot for Sunday Funday with the crew. They have a nice patio outside and a vibrant, well-lit area inside. We sat outside to enjoy our breakfast. Food is upscale Irish pub fare and the flavors are much more exciting to match. I had absolutely nothing to complain about from my meal. Didn't blow my mind, but it was good, solid, interesting stuff. Cocktail program seems to be on point here as well. I sampled my wife's breakfast cocktail and it was precisely-made. Overall, a good option for a boozy, upscale brunch.

Louie L.

Yelp
First of all, what a beautiful place, elegant and cozy at the same time. I was very well served, with a very helpful and attentive staff. The food was great. I've ordered nachos as a starter and it was delicious, especially the guacamole, which I'm a fan. The turkey schnitzel was exceptional, with a very interesting combination of flavors. All in all, a great experience and I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
Great place for a delicious, and satisfying breakfast. We did not have reservations, so we arrived right when the restaurant first opened, and the place was pretty empty. If you come later in the morning, you could run into some problems getting a table right away. We had the full breakfast and it was really big? The menu didn't specify how much would actually be on the plate, in the future we would just share one plate. The tea was nice and strong and pipping hot. The eggs were over easy and the sausage was really flavorful and very well seasoned. Breakfast here is the way to go. Although it could be worth a try at lunch. They have a nice patio area, which would be really good if the weather is agreeable. Come hungry and leave happy. On a side note, the service was polite and efficient. Efficient being the key word here.
google avatar

Johana F.

Yelp
Omg it's like colossal portions of food. It was amazing. The wings are to die for. And the mac and cheese was was exceptional. I absolutely wanted them both and they were huge portions. I wasn't ready for it and didn't finish it all - but I definitely tried to eat it all
google avatar

Yelp
If you are going to walk around wearing gloves all the time without ever changing them what hell is the point!! View is great, food is good. Just lost interest with the whole lack of cleanliness protocol thing!

Yelp
We came here for dinner our first night in Ireland. Maybe I was grumpy, maybe i was sleep deprived, maybe i was jet lagged, maybe I was hangry, I don't know but I wasn't blown away to start I felt like everyone hated me... Beginning of the evening: Cider and a beer please.... We started with the scallops and I thought HOLY HELL this is it! This is what I've been waiting for all my life. Perfectly cooked scallops. Oh... people DON'T hate me.. I'm deliriously tired. Oh no. Was I weird to the waiter. I'm so sorry. Cocktail time! Hello I'll have a whisky and spiced fig ol' fashioned please, and thank you. HUZZAH!! I was happy and awake and pleased and warm and very much amiable. Dinner: I got a sirloin steak and husband got the irish black ray. My steak was slightly over cooked, I'm a very strict medium rare but more on the rare side kind of eater. It wasn't a problem really, the meat was tender and seasons quite well. Husbands fish was interesting, I don't like fish 90% of the time but this... this i really liked. I kept begging for another bite. He finished it. He's a jerk. The staff was lovely, and I am a crazy person who had not slept in 2 days. I'm sorry. You are fantastic and the food is well worth it.

Yelp
I wasn't gonna go back to the Woolen Mills but an event brought me here so it wasn't my choice. Why? Why would anyone spend that much money on such average food? A burger on the brunch menu for 18euro? Do I get to keep the gold embellished plate? I understand they get a lot of footfall given the location but as a local...surely there's many other places that you can spend your Euros in. Nicer places. With nicer food. And better overall service. Even the coffee isn't good. The only good thing about my last visit here was the waiter Simon (shortie) who kept a cool head and positive attitude dealing with about 30 people on our table. Well done!
google avatar

Yelp
Woollen Mills looks perfect from the outside. A nice location, right across Ha'Penny Bridge (from which you have a lovely view from any of their windows), a rotating and interesting menu. Like an Irish hipster friend who graces you with their presence on vacation. My first visit, I had a really nice banana and nut bun with cream and a latte. Messy latte art, tsk! But the bun was honestly one of the best buns I've had in Dublin so far. The problem was it was so small that I could have eaten it in three bites. When I went to ring, the guy had charged me for them separately so I nearly paid double instead of the 'special' price. Luckily the person (manager?) ringing me up caught it. Today I came in for a proper breakfast and ordered a plate - sausages, poached eggs, fried tomato and brown toast. The sausages were fatty and nicely fried on the outside but were lukewarm inside, which made all the fat congeal in a short time. The tomato was nicely flavoured. Eggs were great. Half the toast was burnt. I also had a fresh-pressed orange juice and in total it was about 16Euro. Was it worth it? I don't think so. I must have paid for the view. Here's the thing, I do feel as though the quality of the food is good. It's the execution that is not so good. And today the service was just terrible. When I came in there were three total tables. After we got our food the guy (manager?) quickly looked at my table to see if I was eating, then asked the other two tables how their food was and if they needed anything. When I flagged him down, he put a finger up and said "Hold on" then proceeded to do something at the register computer. Really? I finally had to flag someone else. After I was done eating, the guy started clearing my table... But he was in mid-conversation with two other servers. So he came for a plate, talk talk, put plate away, talk talk, came back for the butter cup, talk, came back for ketchup, talk talk. Then he randomly came back for the salt and pepper mills (what is that about), spilling salt and pepper on the table - talk talk. He didn't even talk to me once while clearing, so I doubt he noticed the burnt toast or congealed sausage on my plate. I did not see him do this to any other table. As I paid, he still did not ask how everything was, he seemed distracted on his phone. Very rude and unprofessional. I'm still in Dublin another month and have two more people coming to visit for two weeks... I will not be taking them here. So. TL;DR: Nice view, food is good quality but not executed well or expensive for portions and customer service is terrible. Unfortunately, I can't recommend.

Yelp
Our favorite place to go for breakfast or just coffee and a pastry. The people here were helpful, even letting us put our two bags up by a pillar out of the way. We were one of the first in the place for breakfast after arriving early in the a.m. on our flight from NYC. This is a lovely place with comfortable seating. We had cappuccino, with the full breakfast and the poached egg breakfast. Both were filling. Everything was cooked just right. It was so good we went back a couple of times while we were in Dublin.

Yelp
Went here for brunch last sunday and we were seated on the upstairs terrace - which was really quite lovely overlooking the liffey. The beardy waiter was efficient and friendly. The location probably explains the ridiculous prices. Almost all dishes on the brunch menu were well over 15 €. The burger costs 18€?!? A bowl of cockles and mussels 23 €! These are prices you normally would expect to pay for dinner. Even though there were about 20 brunch options (quite original options too, it has to be said), none of them were particular healthy. Me, trying to be good, ordered the poached eggs with artichoke hummus and pitta bread. It came with 2 aubergine fritters. Tasty enough, but worth the €16,50? ...Me thinks not!!! The previous day I had a similar brunch elsewhere for nearly a tenner less which tasted just as nice. The coffee wasn't great...quite bitter. Glad I finally got to try brunch here (I walked by so often), would I return? nah....

Yelp
Fantastic Irish food with excellent flavors. Had the bangers and mash and it was lovely.

Yelp
This restaurant is a must see when coming to Dublin. We sat on the rooftop overlooking the river and had a lovely evening. I started with the avocado hummus and would recommend it in a heartbeat. The ling fish was also very delicious with a crispy egg on top. Our table split the ice cream and bakery samples for dessert and loved them all. Overall this was a great experience.

Yelp
Our group of four ate here last weekend and oh my word was it good! We started with a few cocktails while we decided on the grub. The boys had G&Ts and the girls went with whiskey sours - which were made with fresh raspberries and were quite refreshing. For our starters we had the veggie platter, tin of anchovies and the butternut squash with poached egg. Everything was beautifully presented and I was thrilled that they allowed us to have the veggie main as our starter. It was the perfect amount of food to kick things off. For the mains we were once again in sync with two orders of the venison cushion and two orders of the braised pig cheek. The meat was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. If anyone is scared of the word cheek please take the plunge - you won't regret it. I'm smiling just thinking about it. As this was our first time I couldn't leave without sampling their dessert, could I? No. It was hard to choose but the server sold me on the bread and butter pudding. It was a typical recipe but very well executed. Woollen Mills has a great atmosphere and even better food. Will return!

Yelp
I made my first trip here recently on the recommendation of a friend. Best Recommendation Ever. We were greeted by a very friendly host, who showed us to our table and promptly brought us an ice cold bottle of water and helped us with the menu. We both opted for soup and a sandwich. Realistically, one sandwich between us would have been enough, they were huge. I chose the coronation chicken, it was phenomenal. I haven't tasted anything quite so good in a while. The mango chutney gave it a little kick, perfect. We had a soup of the day, also delicious. Our waiter was great, checked on us a few times and we also noticed him checking on a few other tables around, which is always nice to see. I love the fact that you can watch the chefs prepare the food, we were even giggling along with their jokes. After lunch, we moved outside to enjoy a latte and watch the world go by. I like the fact that the outside has a glass surround and a canopy. You're outside but also feel sheltered. I will be making a trip back here for lunch in the very near future. Be ready for me, Woollen Mills!

Julie K.

Yelp
This was a lovely restaurant with nice options for both vegetarian and meat eaters. Service was friendly and food was tasty.

Yelp
Delish! We are here from the USA and used Yelp to find food. Another big hit. We ordered the antipasto and pizza. The cheese pizza and capricciosa pizza. Big pizza. Nice portions. Great service, super nice staff.

Yelp
We've managed to visit the Woollen Mills a few times now - once for a weekend lunch, and another time we popped in on a weekday night for dinner. I love everything about it. The bright open space with plenty of sunlight in the day, the casual friendly staff and hearty good food made with excellent ingredients. For lunch, we tried the soup and (MASSIVE) tuna sandwich with a salad plate, piled high with a selection of 3 interesting salads. Everything was fresh and delicious and plentiful. The samphire salad with pear and hazelnuts was particularly nice. For dinner, we tried the smoked pork belly, which just melted in our mouths, and the wild boar chilli. Good flavours and generous portions. A side of homemade chips rounded off the meal, and even that was done particularly well. Crispy thick-cut but with tender fluffy centres, and served with roasted garlic aioli... the kind that makes you "accidentally" keep eating long after you're full. Best of all, there are still so many things on the menu I want to try! I think this is my new local go-to for a casual meal.

Yelp
I like this place BUT I always leave with a slight nagging feeling... So let me start by the things that put me off - and make this more of 3.7 stars review: - The coffee isn't good. I'm sorry, but it just isn't, and that's a big let down not only if you're finishing a meal with it but especially when you go there for some (delicious) cake and want a nice hot drink to go with it. - I think everything is overpriced. - The dishes are a bit all over the place, and that extends even to the salads. I love that they have a lot of different ingredients, some that you don't commonly see being served in most places, but just because you have them it doesn't mean you need to use them all at once. However, this place is good. Even though it gets quite full at times there's always someone there to find you - or not - a table without making you wait around too long. Service is nice and friendly, even if a bit sparse at times. The space is lovely, and it's maybe its most attractive feature. First you have the beautiful renovated façade, with its cast-iron frames and pillars. The ground floor consists of an open plan facing the kitchen area, plus a small deli to the side where you can find their yummy cakes. There's also some tables outside on occasion. Upstairs there's more room, including a beautiful airy terrace that's perfect on a warm sunny day. The whole place feels cozy and calm, the décor is simple, hinting at a rustic feel. Even the bathrooms in the basement level look good! The food is nice, between a lighter lunch menu that includes salads, the deli pastries and sambos, and a dinner menu, they certainly have a diverse offer throughout the day. The dinner menu has plenty of fish courses, but also good vegetarian options, both of which make me so happy to eat here. The drinks list is also good and they went to the trouble of finding nice pairings, particularly for the desserts. Safe bet for a casual but nice meal, anytime of the day, even if a little bit dear for what it is.

Yelp
Totally annoyed by the service in here. It just ruined the whole experience. All these new hip places don't know how to act around diners. It's like they know they will get the crowed so who cares. They gave us a table upstairs tucked away. When the waitress was near (I had to take advantage as who knows when she would be back up) and had taken another order I shouted 3 times for attention and she walked off. Another diner got her attention and she said I will be with you in a few minutes. That's all she had to say instead of ignoring me. And I was loud! Anyway they brought the food which was lovely. French toast and my boyfriend got the fry. He didn't get toast so he had to go downstairs to ask for the toast. 10 mins he waited for toast until I got up to go ask for it. I asked the waitress and she said oh here it is as it sat on her tray while she stacked glasses. I let it rip obvs. Leaving then paying the bill, the manger doesn't even look at you or ask you how it was. Incredible.

Yelp
Last time I checked, people go to restaurants for food, not for attitude from some waitress who can't even get my order right (and gives me a problem when I tell her kindly that she messed up). The service here is ABYSMAL. It's a beautiful restaurant and the food is quite good but if I wanted attitude I'd go right home to my mother and get a good dose. :) Not a fan.

Yelp
The Woolen Mills is an adorable, convenient find with outstanding waitstaff. We came in late just for small dish, dessert, & lots of drinks. The mac and cheese was good- but the salad on the side was a bit awkward. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing! I've never had one this good! The cake was just perfect consistency and slightly warm- not too sweet- the ice cream and caramel they use are perfect. I'd definitely recommend it! Their cocktails were good and their wine selection is very nice too!

Yelp
We ended up going here twice in one day, but completely by happenstance. Booked a 9:30 AM reservation for breakfast via OpenTable, but didn't seem necessary as there was plenty of space at that hour. We were seated and though our drink order was taken right away, we had to flag down a second waiter because the first/host had a miscommunication and they were never put in. I was rather impressed by their coffee/tea selection, ordering a sort of DYI Black Chai. Both the Peanut Butter French Toast and the Ha' Penny Fry Up (pictured) were sizable and delicious. Service was prompt and friendly (coffee mishap notwithstanding), and the overall experience satisfying.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant and good food! We were lucky to step in and had a very tasty vegetarian meal and salad. Good service, friendly staff, food is freshly made.

Yelp
Lovely warm ambience with an open kitchen and rustic wooden tables with comfy cushions... I could easily while away a good amount of time here. Service was efficient and friendly although the waiter had to run to and fro from the kitchen to enquire about gluten free options for my coeliac friend. The food menu was split into Fish, Meat, Vegetables with a menu dedicated to the old Gruel restaurant. Personally I found the last menu most interesting and I ordered the turkey and sage schnitzel which was lovely and hearty. To be honest, I was slightly wary of black sole tongues and ox tongue fritters on the other menus! Other dishes selected by my companions included the roast chicken, the bacon rubs (GAW-JUS!) and the pork shoulder which all went down very well. Desserts included chocolate and orange cheesecake, coffee walnut cake and Jaffa cake + Ferrero Rocher ice cream. They tasted as good as they sound but I'll recommend to share as they are quite rich and come in generous servings. It came to about €75 per couple for our group of 6 for 6 main meals, a couple of sides, 3 bottles of wine and 4 desserts. I felt the food was reasonably priced although the Pinot Grigio we had was overpriced at €30 per bottle.

Yelp
After a long flight we finally made it to Dublin! We headed straight to our apartment to drop off our luggage and then grab a bite to eat. We found this restaurant right next door. I love the decor of the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and took our order right away. We all ended up ordering the soup and sandwich deal for under €10. I ordered the turkey sandwich with the soup of the day, broccoli soup. The sandwich consisted of turkey, cheese, chipotle mayo, and guacamole. I asked for no pickled gherkins and mayo on the side, but the waiter said that all the sandwiches are pre-made so they cannot be customized. He was able to take out the gherkins but this was still a downside. The sandwich was ok but I wouldn't order it again. Soup was also just ok. For dessert we had the chocolate cake. When I asked the waiter how big a slice was he said he would get us a large slice so we could all share (it was 6 of us). This was really nice of him to do. And the cake was delicious!

Yelp
I have always heard people describe certain food as being better than sex which lead me to question their sex life That's was until I had eaten at the wollen mills. I dined here a number of times having worked on bachelor's walk it was close by and had seen it been transformed from the old wool shop to the delightful food emporium. Having tasted the pork scratchings on my first visit I was left less than impressed but having tasted what could only be described as a mixed grill on my next visit I had been introduced to food heaven The gammon steak had been grilled to perfection and the accompanying apple sauce can only be described as orgasmic inducing and the fried egg was the icing on the cake having never eaten a fried egg before this particular egg not only changed my view on fried eggs but also changed my world as I had been missing out the full benefits of the full irish for years Looking forward to my next visit where I will be sampling the range of cocktails

Yelp
This place was PACKED so I just did a takeaway coffee and pastry. I chose to go with the passion fruit brownie. Sadly, I felt the brownie wasn't chocolate-y enough, and wasn't passion fruit enough either. It was more of a lightly chocolate flavored dense cake with a hint of passion fruit. Coffee was good though - I ordered a cappuccino and it was perfect.
