Had an amazing experience at The WORKS in Ottawa! The vibe of the place is super fun and welcoming, and the service was friendly and fast. We ordered burgers and poutine — and both were phenomenal. The poutine was rich, cheesy, and perfectly indulgent. The burgers were next level — juicy, full of flavour, and cooked just right. I had the veggie patty, and honestly, it was one of the best I’ve ever had. You can really tell they put effort into making it taste just as satisfying as a regular burger — so good! Definitely recommend this place whether you’re a meat lover or vegetarian. Can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu!

We got their 'Son of a Beech' burger; both their veggie patty and chicken breast burger options are great! Surprisingly, we prefer their weeds over the fries as a side, it is super fresh and tasty. Our favourite dressing/dips are the W sauce, Beechhouse, and Bacon roasted garlic aioli. We've also noticed that they package the takeout really well. While it is a bit on the pricier side for us, the quality and variety are higher than your average burger joint.

It had been a while since our last visit, and we weren’t sure if there would be seating for four on a Saturday night. Fortunately, we were seated right away! Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and quick to serve us. The burgers, as always, were fantastic, but the highlight of the evening was the Bang Bang Broccoli—it was absolutely delicious!

I recently enjoyed a wonderful lunch at The WORKS Craft Burgers & Beer with my boyfriend's family, a group of six, and it was truly fabulous! From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was inviting and perfect for a family gathering. The menu had an impressive variety of options, and we were all excited to try different dishes. Each dish we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented. The flavors were outstanding. The service was exceptional; our server was friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. Thank you Nidhi:)) Overall, The Works exceeded our expectations. If you're looking for a great place to enjoy a meal with family, I highly recommend it. We can't wait to come back!

The food is good, lots of choices of burger type, bun and sides. The tower of rings is a fave with dipping sauce as an appetizer then specialty burger with fries or salad. We enjoyed our meals but I will say there were fruit flies buzzing about our table and we left promptly after seeing some unidentifiable type of bug crawl across our table :(

Google
I used to come to this branch for the good juicy food, the amazing service that they were providing. Now, with this new ownership is all gone. The portions are way smaller and badly cooked (my chicken burger was dry like never before) and the burgers look frozen and at fast food level. Service wise, we are served by people in slippers (literally) who don’t know much about customer care. I lost a place I enjoyed for years and now it’s completely gone. It’s very sad.

I don’t usually write reviews, but this experience at The Works was bad enough that I feel like people should be warned. First off, the service was incredibly slow almost impressively so considering the restaurant was practically empty. You’d expect a quick in-and-out experience when there are barely any customers, but no we waited two whole hours to get our food. TWO. HOURS. For burgers and onion rings. I’ve waited less at fully booked restaurants on a Friday night. To make things worse, they forgot my order entirely. Everyone else at the table got theirs (eventually), and when I asked the server about mine, she just said something like “Oh, I’ll check,” then disappeared. No apology. No urgency. Just vanished into the back. I had to ask again after everyone else was halfway through their meals. It was clear my food hadn’t even been started. When it finally did come ridiculously late the onion rings were a soggy, oily mess. Like they’d been sitting in grease or fried in old oil. Completely inedible. The burger was okay at best, but by that point I wasn’t even hungry anymore I was just annoyed. What made the experience even more frustrating was the clear bias from the server. She was constantly chatting it up with one table of customers laughing, hanging around, making small talk for way too long while completely ignoring others (us included). It felt like she was giving great service to who she wanted to, and couldn’t be bothered with the rest. Super unprofessional. Overall, this visit was just a mess. Late food, forgotten orders, greasy onion rings, and a server who seemed more interested in socializing than doing her job. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but honestly, if this is what a “slow day” looks like, I can’t imagine how bad it gets when they’re actually busy. Wouldn’t recommend. Definitely not coming back.

Google
Went for work lunch. Table of 3, restaurant not busy at all. Waited 20 minutes at the table without being acknowledged in any way. One of us went up and let them know we'd been waiting so long. They acknowledged it but still nothing... so 30 minutes total and we gave up and left. We let them know why we were leaving, and the response was simply "oh". That's it! They couldn't have cared less. You can't run a restaurant with zero service like that. Wasting a half hour of our time is not cool. We will never return.

Yelp
I'm always overwhelmed by the menu because I always want to try something new. This time, I tried the Son of a Beech with avocado, Beechhouse sauce, sun-dried tomato, and feta cheese. I actually think I've had it once before, but that would've been 15ish years ago so I think enough time has passed haha I also had it topped with shrimp, which I don't think the Works even has anymore as an ingredient. I chose a sesame multi-grain and upgraded to a Kobe-style wagyu beef patty, bun and sweet potato fries with a side of Beechhouse sauce. As you can imagine, this order was quite expensive, since the Works burgers are already pretty pricey. The sweet potato fries were worth the upgrade, in my opinion, especially with the extra Beechhouse sauce for dipping. They were crispy, not too greasy or salty, and there were plenty. I always love their unique Beechhouse sauce and it's perfect with the sweet potato fries instead of mayo or ketchup. I know it has carrots in it because you can see the small shreds, but it's not like a carrot dip (ha!); I just find it really flavourful. The burger was good, but I wish I had just ordered the standard Canadian beef patty. My husband ordered it and his was less done than mine, which I liked better. My patty was smaller and more cooked, which made it drier and bit less flavourful, in my opinion. The Beechhouse sauce and avocado helped the dryness of the patty, and the crumbled feta added that bit of salty flavour. The tartness of the few sun-dried tomatoes brightened it up a bit and wasn't overpowering. I also got a Caesar that was the daily special and it was good. The food was made and presented well and service was friendly. I'm sure we'll be back here if we're craving the Works in the future.

Yelp
The food and service is always Great at the Works Craft Burgers and Beers. Good place for families and work parties and social functions . My favorites are Barhaven and Hunt club. Book your Birthdsy party or family get together at the Works Craft Burgers and Beers. Plenty of parking and kid friendly . Check out the kids menu .

Yelp
Terrible experience at The Works 2525 Bank St. Ottawa location. My sister and brother-in-law were visiting from out of town and after raving about previous visits to several The Works locations over the past two years, we decided on this South Keys location. What a mistake. Unlike every other location we've enjoyed, the four of us were sorely disappointed in everything other than the decor and our super-friendly and apologetic server. We ordered Taste of Heaven, War Pig, The Tom Green and Bacon You Fancy Huh?. Our party of four arrived early that Sunday afternoon, appx 4:15pm and there was only one other table of two occupied in the restaurant. Despite the small number of customers our order was a FORTY MINUTE WAIT. My partner and I were surprised and disappointed with the length of time our order took to be served. He and I have enjoyed burgers at several other The Works in Ottawa and not one has taken longer than ten minutes for orders to be served. The delay could be blamed on the fact that ONLY TWO EMPLOYEES WERE ON SITE: One server and one cook. Soon more patrons began to arrive including a table of ten. I shudder to think of their own wait time; we left before they received their order. Now on to our own order: The cook had apparently only been on the job for TWO DAYS and his inexperience with the menu was obvious when we eventually received our burgers. None of my companions found Arugula on their burgers. The Tom Green was also missing both Beechhouse Sauce AND Avocado. My sister requested that the mayonnaise on her Bacon You Fancy Huh? be replaced with garlic aioli; she received neither. She also complained about her meal being cold and that the 100% beef burger itself was like "leather". My War Pig was okay but it was also served cold. In conclusion, the meal was a huge disappointment and an embarrassment for my partner and myself...I have even raved on Facebook that The Works makes the "best burger in Ottawa". I no longer stand by that claim. Not to be dissuaded by this 2525 Bank St. experience, my sister and brother-in-law have assured us that they will give Kingston's The Works a try. I believe that our dismal experience is entirely fault of management, who understaff (and undertrain) this particular location to the detriment of a patron's enjoyment on what should be a delicious and fun experience. SHAME ON THE WORKS 2525 BANK ST. OWNERS AND MANAGERS. WHERE ARE YOU???

Yelp
The food is just alright, and the same thing can be said about the service. The ambiance...there really isn't any. If you need a quick bite to eat, this place is ok. If you want a foodie experience you should go elsewhere.

Yelp
Delicious but pricey. My favourite is the Tragically Maple. Sweet potato fries are good with the bacon garlic dipstick.

Yelp
I have been there twice. Burgers were super dried both times. The staff was friendly though.

Yelp
This place used to be AWESOME in 2018/2019 but has significantly gone down hill, not sure if they sold to new owners or what happened, but the burgers used to be huge and delicious , now patties are small and burger still tasted good but was dry and boring Too bad I just returned to the area after a few years and was excited to get back here and was totally let down

Fred C.

Yelp
Been a while since we've been there for obvious reasons with the Covid restrictions. Did frequent reasonably often. On our list now to visit again soon . Have too many hamburger combinations to try to list. Fun to go there and enjoy with a cold beer. Good service. Nice atmosphere.

Yelp
We love going to this place whenever we can! The service is great, the options for the burger choice and it's toppings is extensive - it allows us to pick and choose different sandwiches and burgers each time we go. I prefer the regular fries to the poutine, but it is still tasty. My favourite meal has been the peppercorn crusted burger, with "strip cheese" topping choice, on a multigrain bun. Love this place!

Yelp
Took my kids (17 and 19... lol) to the Works yesterday. It was our first time there. The food is fantastic, and the portions are huge. We got the spinach dip too and we're so stuffed haha. My daughter is vegetarian so we are always looking for a new place she can eat and she loved the burger here. My son ordered a milkshake and it was massive haha. The waitress was great and super friendly - and the other staff very friendly as well. The decor is pretty cool too (think industrial/steampunk). We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I'm truly blown away by the hospitality and generosity shown by the owner of this restaurant (Mike D)! After noticing my dissatisfied review from my prior visit, Mike very generously wrote me an apologetic message on Yelp, and offered a complimentary meal for my mother and I. I have just returned from my visit there, and it was absolutely perfect! Mike had reserved a table for us by the window, and we were served by the nicest and most attentive server named Brock. Although Mike mentioned that he would not be able to make it the evening of our visit, I was suprised to be greeted by him, while he personally brought our food out. He was so nice and warm to my mother and I. He even came to check up on us a couple of times! Now onto the food part of this review. My mother had ordered the Juicy Lucy burger, with the Get Baked poutine on the side, while I ordered the Barking at my Cow, with the Longhorn poutine as my side order. The burgers were both juicy and tasted super! The juicy Lucy burger oozed melted cheese from the center, as I took a bite from my mother's burger. It was topped with lettuce and tomatoes, and was really good. But I had especially enjoyed my own burger, as it was topped with tender pieces of brisket, bacon, caramelized onions, cheese, and BBQ sauce. A carnivore's heaven! The poutines were amazing! The Longhorn poutine was topped with thin slices of brisket, gravy, barbecue sauce, and cheese curds. The Get Baked poutine had all the essentials of a baked potatoe: sour cream, cheese (curds), gravy, green onions, and bacon. Truly yummy! I feel so satisfied and content with the delicious meal, and the extreme form of hospitality that Mike had displayed to my mother and I. I will definately be coming back and supporting this great local restaurant!

Yelp
Despite my wariness of the northern palate, I've found that The Works is simply one of the top burger joints I've ever been to. The milkshakes are leagues beyond the competition. (That one line really deserved it's own paragraph). Their burger selection can't be beat! Seriously. Beef, turkey, chicken, mushroom, even elk?! Yup! Plus all the toppings anyone has ever thought to put on burgers, plus a few more! (My coworkers really enjoyed the peanut-buttery "SK8R Boy"). Oh yeah, the menu is full of interesting-titled burgers laden with inside-jokes or Canadianisms that I didn't always understand. This location is hidden away through some residential areas... it's a bit far from Kanata, but just fine for those unofficially-long Friday lunches with my coworkers!

Yelp
The Works is a neighbourhood institution in Ottawa. It's a gourmet hamburger joint that's kind of cool to hang out in. Lively and festive environment. They serve some delicious burgers out there, and I have to say for the money they serve you a sh*t load of food! I ordered a platter and I could not finish it! Ok I had the blue cheese burger with onion rings. I love blue cheese on meat and this burger hit the spot. It was meaty, juicy and messy to eat (in a good way)! The onion rings were really good too; super crispy and greasy (in a good way)! Service was quick and friendly. The serving staff doesn't believe in letting the moss grow under their feet! Overall, a good experience... This is a great family location... They serve a staple of the North American diet!

Yelp
Really, really good hamburgers! There's also a good selection of veggie burgers and various stuff for the kids. I was particularly impressed with the service - we booked for 5 adults and 10 children, and they accepted our reservation. They placed us in an enclosed area, which allowed the children to run around a little without disturbing other customers. The waitress was very friendly, and SOOO patient with the kids - she should have been a teacher! Just a warning - it get REALLY busy at this restaurant. It seems they've started taking reservations, which would be advised!

Yelp
This is a cool restrant. But there are some complaints, the service is very slow but is kinda worth it. 2 complaint the washrooms are smelly. 3 complaint. The works is loud, cause of people. Yelp
I ate here for lunch this past weekend with three other dining companions. We decided to start out our meal with the poutin martini. It tasted amazing with the fries, onion rings, cheese curds and gravy disappearing quickly. For my entree I got the pony express on a whole wheat bun with an elk burger and a side of bold slaw. This was my first time having elk and I enjoyed it with the patty being seasoned nicely. The burger as a whole was delicious with the combination of franks, cream cheese and horseradish being exceptionally good. Whoever thought about combining the savory cream cheese with the other sauces on a burger is a genius. The bold slaw came out in a huge dish and had a nice and slightly spicy flavor that I enjoyed. The bottom line for me is that I would definitely head back here again in the future. I would really like to try all of their burgers although I wish that they would serve unsweetened tea.

Yelp
I have been to many Works locations but this ranks as one of the best. The staff were super friendly and very casual in conversation. The food was excellent as always is at the works. This location wasn't too busy at the time we went and we had a lovely relaxed meal. The tower of rings is a MUST as is the poutine.

Yelp
Before you read this review, just let me put it out there. I'm not a burger connoisseur. With that it mind lets begin this review. I've been here twice and tried two different burgers which I am failing to recall at this moment. What I do remember is that one of them had blue cheese, that actually had a nice bite and flavor to it. The pepper corned spices on the burger were also appreciated over the typical slathering of hot sauce offered at other burger joints. I'm also a BIG fan of their sweet potato fries and spicy mayo YUM!. I'll probably stroll in again sometime when I feel like taking a long lunch from work.

Rene G.

Yelp
Meh. It's overpriced and very ordinary. I prefer Five Guys or Burgers and Shakes. Not impressed.
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
Great value for your money. It's a small Works so you may have a long wait before you get seated but it is worth it. Nowhere has a better selection of hamburgers that are done to perfection.
google avatar

Matthew J.

Yelp
Yeah, it's a burger place and it serves burgers. As a lover of burgers I had the chicken sandwich which was fried with hot sauce, had blue cheese in it and bacon. It was delicious, absolutely delicious
google avatar

Yelp
I remember my last trip here (3 years ago) it was usually very good, however I was actually very saddened by the quality of the food this time. During this visit I had gotten the Man-of-War burger, with the peppercorn crust on it. Let's see where do I even begin? The bun did not feel very fresh and it crumbled a bit away as I would bit into it. The burger meat itself did not really have any flavor at all to it, the only saving grace was the horseradish sauce and the peppercorn crust which, sadly, were the only two things I could taste from the burger. The sweet potato fries also were dissatisfying. They were not crispy and hot either. I could take a fry and twist it a whole 360 degrees and it would not crisp away. I hate to make references to other restaurants in a review for one, but another place I know of in the same city has perfect sweet potato fries, if you try to twist them they flake apart to reveal the delicious inside of the fry. I'm hoping this was just a one time thing and maybe I just caught them on a bad Monday.
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
I love burgers and started going to this location years ago and have been back countless times, usually trying new burgers each time. I have enjoyed every burger I've tried except when I chose the elk as the meat, which is now off the menu anyways. I absolutely love the unique burger toppings, the amazing sweet potato fries and onion rings. The food here is just unreal! The wait time for dinner is usually at least 15 minutes in my experience, but this gives you the opportunity to peruse the menu, which is very extensive so not it goes by quickly. The staff are excellent and appear to have tremendous support from management. They are upbeat and friendly. I have never ever had a bad server here and when it's too busy the manager pitches in. You get a real sense of care and teamwork here and it's a welcome change to some other local places. A really unique and fun place to eat! I strongly recommend Hold the Phone, Soul Train and any burger with Kraft dinner or eggs. The sweet potato fries are worth the upgrade. The beach house sauce is awesome too if you're getting onion rings.
google avatar

Tejasvi K.

Yelp
Best burgers.. Their kamikaze flavor is my top favorite. They also serve best milkshakes
google avatar

Coy W.

Yelp
I like The Works, or maybe I just like The Works in Westboro and Glebe, or maybe I just haven't been to The Works in a long time and the burger isn't as good as I remember. Whatever the case I found myself not enjoying a Works burger like I have in the past. Sure there are better burgers in town, but none of them offer the variety of this place. That wasn't the problem today. My burger came and half the bun was wet and mushy and the patty was really overcooked where part of it was dry. I'll try one of the other 2 locations in the near future and report back.
google avatar

Tammy B.

Yelp
Well I have to say my last visit to The Works was disappointing. We were a big group-5 adults and 6 kids but that shouldn't mean the service should be terrible. The food was pretty good-I will give it that but I would like to note the burger party size and the toppings have decreased in size. Service tonight was horrible-started with forgetting to take the adult orders so the kids were done before we even started, we had to repeatedly ask/remind our server of things we requested and the bills were a disaster. We love the Works, but tonight was disappointing.
google avatar

Nicholas P.

Yelp
I heard a lot about this place before I tried it and when I finally did go in, I was surprised at how busy it was! We ended up writing for quite a while before we got a seat, then had to wait some more to get our order to us. The food was pretty good, I liked that they had so much on the menu to choose from. It was a filling meal but was a little on the pricy side. I liked that the atmosphere was different from anywhere else I had ever eaten at before. There was a garage door which you can walk out of to leave the restaurant! Pretty unique. Overall, I would recommend this location to a friend.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing. If you like great burgers and are in the Ottawa area, this is the place to be. The burger menu ranges from complex (the "down under" has a fried egg, beets, pineapple, peppercorn, and cheese) to classic (bbq sauce, cheese, and bacon). You can also switch the normal patty for elk or organic beef. We also tried a smoothie which was also very good.
google avatar

Geoff M.

Yelp
The theme is quite interesting, set in a garage like environment with a strong industrial "machine room" decor. The Works is a great place for those looking for a unique take on traditional burgers. I strongly recommend starting out with a tower of rings with a shake. Very yummy! While the menu makes for great reading, you'll be hard pressed to decide on which of the myriad of burger combos to choose. All told, this unique casual burger joint is worth the visit.
google avatar

Jonathan G.

Yelp
I go there every year for my end of season dinner with my landscaping crew. It fills us up nicely, which is always a hard task with a bunch of landscape labourers. I never have any complaints.
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
Food good as always service great, music a little loud but 5 star cos they sold me a salt and pepper shaker that looks like a light bulb I really liked
google avatar

Trevor T.

Yelp
Was seated fast and since it was my first time here got a good introduction to the bugger menu. Order was fast and easy lots too choose from. I had the Smokey Mountain bugger off the lunch menu. I like the idea of bottomless fries & drink to go with your meal. In all I had 20 mins for lunch they got me out in 15 mins with a bill under $16 with tip. Any other burger joint will have a hard time match this!
google avatar

Melina A.

Yelp
Cool little neighborhood joint. Too bad they have to cook the meat to an unappealing grey.
google avatar

Greg O.

Yelp
Start with the "tower of rings"! Burgers and shakes are great, albeit getting a bit pricey!

Steven P.

Yelp
Food is great. Service is friendly and the wait times are decent. Easily the best burger joint in Kanata. Many different burger options, many of which look quite delicious, so there is bound to be something likeable on the menu for everyone.
google avatar

T K.

Yelp
Great burgers and service. Always go when I'm in the mood for a superb burger. I've had better onion rings though, but the curry dipping sauce makes up for it.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
You just can't go wrong with the Works, but the Kanata location is particularly exceptional due to their wonderful serving staff. Each time I've eaten here I have found that the servers take the time to get to know you a little and make a personal connection above and beyond just trying to get a good tip. The staff here are genuine, and even with the place packed full of patrons you are sure to receive helpful recommendations and exceptional service.

Jeff J.

Yelp
Our table was given away to the next person in line. And we were made to wait with our 7 month old baby. The person who got our table whole party was not even there. The resolution was a arguement from a employee and we were told to wait for half an hour. We left. The Kanata Works sucks.

Emilie M.

Yelp
I came here with my aunt and uncle. This is one of their favorite places. I can see why. It's really great. We went around 5 PM and it wasn't too crowded and got seated right away. We started with the tower of onion rings. Very crispy and yummy. I also loved the sauce options that came with it. I got chipolte mayo and some other kind of mayo. Nice touch. It was so hard to choose a burger. There are like 50 options. You can also choose if you want the burger to be beef, turkey, veggie or elk. Crazy amounts of options. I got the "North of 5th burger. It came with diced tomatoes, avocado and tiger shrimp. It was massive and so good. Had lots of toppings. I has sweet potato fries are a side and they were also really good. They have me a huge amount. I couldn't finish them. I really liked the server. Very pleasant and fast. As the place got more and more busy, he managed to keep up with everything. I really liked it, and I will be trying it again in other locations.

Andrew R.

Yelp
The manager Alisha and waiter Jeremy made my experience over the top! They were very friendly and made me feel like I was at home!

Caroline M.

Yelp
we went on a Tuesday at 7 the services was ok but the waiting time was unusually long then we got the burgers with fries omg I got the kobe style burger look like it was for kids tasted ok my wife took the burger with brie tasted ok but was falling apart while she was eating it and the fries smh worst fries I ever had it was like if they were serving fries from yesterday that stayed on the counter all night and the bill with 2 beers $60 ...for burgers ???

Tom P.

Yelp
My father-in-law took me an my son here a couple years back for a milk shake and some burgers. We live not too far away and heard that this was a great place to go for good eats. Well, our experience was less than fantastic. It took about an hour and forty five minutes to get our orders. All in all, the burger was pretty good, but nothing so great that it justified that kind of wait. We justifiably complained, and the manager, who was not overly friendly, gave us some coupons for free shakes - on our next visit. Since then, I have heard that it generally takes too long to get your order from this location. What am I missing? It takes, what, 10 minutes to cook a burger on my bar-b-q (fresh or frozen)... you think that they would be churning out the burgers. Maybe the cook is too confused with all the millions of burger combinations...

Rob R.

Yelp
Great food & good service. Our family enjoyed the many burger choices offered on the menu. The fried dill pickles & tower of rings were a hit. Interesting idea for a restaurant. A little pricey for burgers for 4 people but the food was great & portions were good.

Pat S.

Yelp
absolutely bad frozen burgers just a big lump of meat with a hint of the fixing really gone down hill in the last few years tower of rings Is the only saving grace
