Ho Chi Minh City: Where to Eat, Drink, Stay, and Play

"The Workshop, on the top floor of a crumbling building in D1, is particularly serious about it, serving specialty beans to third wave coffee devotees."

This has been one of my go-to coffee shops since the early days of specialty coffee in Vietnam. After 9 years, it still feels the same. Great coffee. Delicious food. A space that strikes a quiet balance, not too loud, not too quiet. The large windows open to a beautiful city view More than just a coffee, it’s a place that still carries the spirit of old Saigon

This place is wildly famous! Though the street-level sign is so small you'd easily miss it. Entering the first floor feels like walking into a condemned building. You'll need to navigate narrow, steep stairs up to the third floor. The coffee and cakes? Decent but forgettable. The staff are lovely though - which almost makes up for the completely uninspired food.

It wasn’t very easy for me to find the entrance, I at first thought I’m at a wrong place, but look at the entrance in my pictures if u got confused like me😹 I paid 175.000vnd for this omelette 🍳 prices are about 45-100 for the drinks and 130-200 for the food. it’s a bit expensive for me but it was delicious and cooked very fast. I recommend this place to visit 👍🏻 u can bring ur computer and work here but today around 6pm it was a bit crowdy. It’s not quiet but also not noisy.

Had the coffee latte , americano , english breakfast and pancake! The mix of mangoes and apple on the pancake really made the pancake unique. English breakfast was also good. We then ordered the salted coffee recommended online and it was really amazing . It’s a bit hidden on the street, so keep a lookout.

I come here for the vibe!!! Starting with the unnoticed entrance and the vintage wooden stair case, then open up a huge space with vaulted ceiling and well lit with natural light. The coffee and tiramisu are must-try no matter what time you visit. But do try out the place on a weekend for brunch, when you can look out the window to Dong Khoi iconic street and see the traffic flow under the gentle sunlight and tree shade. Order beautiful breakfast and enjoy the beauty offered by Saigon.

Had breakfast around 9:30am and was about 70% full. Remote working crowd and some breakfast goers too. Quick service and delicious food. Plus the iced tea and coffee were fantastic. Really enjoyed my meal and would absolutely come back. Prices were very good. To find the place go up 2 flights from an unassuming door on the street.

A quiet work place hidden in district one, you need to find the entrance and take steps to 2nd floor. Spacious and quiet place, plugs at window seats. Wouldn’t say the food was great but the coffee is good. There are also tea options.

This cafe is a real gem! Its industrial decor fits the voluminous space very well, and the art on the walls lends it an organic and artistic feel. The coffees we had were expertly crafted and lacked no creativity, and the service was knowledgeable, forthcoming, swift, and friendly. Especially Trung stood out, with whom we had a pleasant conversation and who looked after us very well. The premises are suited for a quiet coffee with a book, for a date with friends, or for co-working as there is plenty of space, power points as a decent wifi, and an abundance of natural light to make it suited for prolonged periods. The building itself is quite 'smudgy and old' which adds tons of charm to entering and walking up the dark rectangular staircase. It offers lots of IG photo ops ; ) . If you are carrying an upright piano or a load of suitcases, climbing the stairs to the cafe may be a bit of a chore, but otherwise its all part of the experience and fun, and at the end of the climb you're rewarded with a superb cafe! All in all I highly recommend this 5* coffee!
