On the Grid : The World Bar

"It's a place that has a famous warm and cosy beer garden, a giant open roaring fire and is a well loved hangout spot for locals, travellers and friends alike. Great vibe, good food and really lovely staff. You can go there for lunch, afternoon drinks or for the live music and DJ sets. Do not miss the teapots drinks!" - makebardo

We kind of fell into coming to dinner here and we so glad we did. Warm cosy atmosphere, we tucked into their happy tea pots and we happily surprised at the meals. 3 huge tacos, a massive portion of fish and chips with mushy peas and the star of the show the korean fried chicken wings all at a great price. Wish we knew how good it was going to be sooner so we could of tried more. Located just down from the waterfront right next to its sister Yonder.

I had the most bland fish tacos of my life at World Bar. Not even the “spicy aioli” could save these things. No seasoning in the fish batter and none on the slaw. My server was nice but all the other workers kept congregating at a table right next to ours and they were being incredibly loud and disruptive.

Come for the ambience, not food or service.. My friend's order was taken wrong, the other order also came out wrong. About $31 for the burger and fries. The bun was tasteless, patty dry and cheese not melted. Fries were sent back for having burnt ends and was given back just rearranged. Our server was young and had attitude.. needs to grow out of it. Didn't feel like staying for a drink after that..

Pretty typical bar/restaurant - everything was good, nothing out of this world but all fairly stock standard. Good place to pop in for a drink and something to eat on the fly. Had the pulled pork tacos which were good.

Although it caught the last of the sun on a Sunday evening and had live music, we sat down because on the menu was a smash burger. We were excited for this having wanted to try ferg burger but the line was huge. Unfortunately, this was NOT a smash burger and should not have been listed as such. The patty had no resemblance of having being pressed into the grill and then bun had been toasted too much and made the entire thing really dry. Silver lining was that the pulled pork tacos were bigger than expected and pretty tasty

A fantastic Sunday night enjoyed by all. A warm, cosy bar with an open fire & great live music. Really good food for sharing or not if you are with teenagers! Amazing staff. Delicious food & great drinks! Will definitely return & highly recommend!

Thursday night Nachos night specials $25. 645pm booking. Went to order 2 nachos and 2 other meals. Sorry NO NACHOS left. You’re kidding it’s only 645pm. Sorry they say. So we asked if we could have tacos with similar ingredients for $25.. The waitress didn’t confirm nor deny if she would honour my request and I saw her speaking with the manager. We ate our meal which took a considerable amount of time and the pub really wasn’t crowded. We went to pay, I asked if they would honour the meal we wanted and had ordered originally. The owner came over and said things run out, that’s how it is. I said you should have removed it from the specials menu since it was so early in the evening and basically because you havent, you should in good faith honour what we wanted. I would have understood if it was 8pm but it was peak dinner time and they clearly had not prepared accordingly. He was argumentative and wouldn’t budge. So would I recommend it .. NO it’s not good customer service.

I ordered a chicken Caesar salad, the salad arrived: the chicken was all black burnt. I told the waitress, if it’s possible to have a cook chicken but not burnt and have a Caesar dressing. Her reply: this is a Caesar dressing. Which is not as working as a chef and I can tell it’s not. So she asked me if I want the salad without any dressing instead… They brought me back another salad with raw chicken… I don’t recommend this place for eating and won’t go back anymore for sure. Not even clean. Needed to ask to clean tables before and found dry bird poo on the ketchup bottle sauce.
