What a surprise find in small-town downtown Corbin, KY. Downtown Corbin, by the way, is the closest place you'll find to the Gilmore Girls' Stars Hollow. Seriously.
Anyway, this is a local-sourced, chef-driven restaurant that's driving big city diners wild. If Wrigley opened in our city, it would be an instant success. This is one of the few places we've ever visited where two bites in we discussed when we'd come back for our next meal.
Service was friendly and homey, the way you want in the South. We ordered beer flights and asked for anything local on tap. Our server didn't disappoint with a variety - 12! - representing everything from ciders to sours, ales to Oyster-finished stouts (really...and it was good).
Dinner was the smoked salmon tacos (house smoked and OMG) with a side of roasted Brussels sprouts tossed with honey ancho chile sauce, and tempura-battered fish and chips (chips...not fries). Both were delicious. We hung out for a while so we'd have room for dessert: Chocolate chess pie with buttermilk ice cream and bourbon chantilly, all homemade. Oh goodness.
We came back the next day for an Americano burger and fries (for both of us - no sharing). Simply amazing. Delicious. Worth a second visit for sure.
We can't say this strongly enough: If you are in SE Kentucky, traversing I-75 north or south, stop off in Corbin to eat here. No regrets.
