The Yard Mediterranean Restaurant

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had our Christmas meal with friends at The Yard, and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. There were 10 of us and we were seated downstairs, where we had the entire floor and a private bar to ourselves – such a brilliant setup for a group and made the evening feel really special. The staff were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble at all – friendly, festive, and incredibly accommodating to everyone’s needs. They really added to the atmosphere and made us feel so well looked after all evening. The food was absolutely delicious. I only remembered to take a photo of my starter (black pudding scotch egg) because I was far too busy enjoying the food, the company, and the overall vibe to think about anything else! Highly recommend for group meals, celebrations, or just a great night out with amazing food and service. We’ll definitely be back.

After meeting Cristian in the town after a long lunch out, where he assisted me with my mobility scooter, we called in on chance. A great welcome on a busy night, we had a couple of small plates, a special & a couple of the regular mains. Good flavours all round and washed down with an excellent drop of Romanian Pinot. All round a good night out, but made memorable by the great service from Cristian & his team. First time in; absolutely not the last!

My partner booked this for Valentine's. Statyed with a super friendly welcome from the staff, offering the option to sit downstairs which it was absolutely cosy. Had a lovely time and food was nice, just at the end, cherry compote was missing on noth desserts, when we asked the waitress she requested it bur never came, by the time we pay we mentioned again and she just said I asked for it bur they didn't send it, we wished she had mentioned it before as the ice cream melted as we thought she was actually bringing to us.

Enjoyed our Groupon bottomless brunch. Warmly welcomed by Cristian, who makes a point of chatting with all guests amiably. Food was a platter similar to the menu, not quite the same. Cocktails were ok, not the strongest or most exciting and could have fitted a few more in, in our time there. Not offered more drinks for the last 20mins. Staff all pleasant. Cristian expected the restaurant to be busy and said it was fully booked. Got busier whilst we were there, not packed. Would return with another offer.

We booked a table for three people for dinner. I had the pan seared chicken which was the best I have had in a long time. Cooked to perfection and obviously sourced with care as it tasted amazing, served with tomato and chorizo sauce and sat on crushed potatoes. An excellent dish. My wife had a couple of small plates, lamb kofta and charred beef steak with sautéed potatoes, these dishes were also superb. Lastly my brother in law had a T-bone steak, cooked exactly as requested and perfect. I ordered a couple of side dishes, Parmesan and truffle fries, superb, honeyed carrots which whilst perfectly cooked and great taste didn’t seem to have much of a honey note so not what I expected but still delicious, I personally would like to see carrots cooked in orange and coriander because it is one of my favourites and goes well with most dishes. Almost forgot we had a couple of cheese boards to share to finish off , also really good and shared a couple of bottles of Malbec with the meal which we all enjoyed. Overall a fantastic evening, food superb and very friendly and good service. We will certainly return. Very highly recommended.

Excellent restaurant. Very attentive and helpful staff. Lovely ambience and atmosphere. We bot had rumours steaks and they were expertly cooked and prepared to perfection. The accompanying tomato, mushroom and fries were also top notch, and the pepper sauce had the right ratio of warmth to creaminess. Very enjoyable dining experience in the heart of Chester. Will return again. Soon.

Poor service , asked what I would like to drink I looked at the bar and noticed they had draft pumps and asked for a pint of draft lager and told we don’t have draft beer so told only bottles then chose peroni and the waiter returned with an open bottle of estralla which I am not keen on but felt a little forced to accept it. The food was poor ,my wife dislikes steak if pink so asked for well done and got medium rare so struggled to eat and we were over charged for sauces even though it was included in the set price. When it came to leaving they lost our coats and eventually located them . Overall it wasn’t enjoyable and a poor experience

The food was amazing! Pork belly bites with pickled red onion delicious, the flat iron steak amazing and the pork chop with creamy mash and perfectly cooked green beans was to die for. Will be back there very soon, just bought anither voucher.
