Honestly, it’s not even a competition. The location alone is unbeatable: right in the very heart of the city, surrounded by the best bars, cafés, nightlife, and everything that makes Helsinki vibrant and alive. You step outside and you’re already there. The hostel itself is a place of excellent taste and style. Everything feels carefully thought out, modern, cozy, and always spotlessly clean. The kitchen is absolutely immaculate — fully equipped, super organized, with everything you need to actually enjoy cooking. There’s a dishwasher, washing machine, laundry facilities, and everything works perfectly. And then… the extras. PlayStation for guests 🎮, super comfortable chill-out areas, a relaxed and social vibe, and even a MacBook available for guests to use — which is something you almost never see. It really feels like a creative, intelligent, and welcoming space, not just a place to sleep. The beds are extremely comfortable, with great privacy, so you can rest properly. The bathrooms are always clean, well maintained, and the showers have very hot water (which is a blessing in Finland!). Everything just works, all the time. But now, the most important part. At first, I thought the best thing about this hostel was the staff member Benedict. No, wait. That’s not true. Actually… it’s Rebeca. Rebeca is not just a receptionist — she is the soul of this hostel. She is incredibly kind, warm, helpful, friendly, and genuinely cares about people. She makes you feel welcome from the very first second, like you’re not a guest, but someone who truly belongs there. Her positive energy, her smile, her attention to detail, and her willingness to help with absolutely anything make a huge difference. Honestly, Rebeca elevates the entire experience to another level. You can have the best location, the best facilities, the best design — but it’s people who make a place unforgettable. And Rebeca does exactly that. She turns an amazing hostel into a truly special one. This is, by far, the most interesting, comfortable, well-located, and enjoyable hostel in Helsinki. If you stay anywhere else, you are simply missing out. Highly recommended. 100/10. I would come back again and again — mostly because of Rebeca 😊✨

The hostel is perfect for travelers in search of a fair accommodation at the heart of helsinki city centre. It’s quite strange though that receptionists and hostel staff are almost never present and the only appearances were the one of the cleaning maid. The result is that guests don’t really communicate or interact no matter the huge living room and sofas and the fact that they all have to share the kitchen amenities. What happens is that the level of tidiness and accountability for the usage of mugs, plates, cutlery depends on your luck and the guests who check in each and every day. By the last day we had partygoers stopping only for a night out and cans of pepsi and a bottle of vodka were left on the common table (not sure if it was a shy invite to indulge) while the sink and the dishwasher were crammed with badly rinsed stuff. It’s a pity cause the common showers, the toilets and the rooms were fairly clean, we simply expected the typical hostel experience where you manage to socialize a bit more thanks to the staff.

Had to sleep on the doorstep for an hour as everyone is under strict threat by multiple signs not to open the door to anyone and the hostel is completely unmanned, and unlike every other hostel on earth the keycard does not actually open the doors, you have to hope you have a phone with battery or you noticed the small piece of paper in your room with the codes on, and intuit that the keycard you were given only opens the final door or like me, you will be sleeping on the doorstep. The doorstep was quite clean and I did not get attacked which is always a bonus as a woman, but I very much did have to sleep on the doorstep for an hour. Great location! Would consider coming back.

Great location, the dorm was ok. The shower was good too. I liked that we all had to take our shoes off at the entrance. ❌ my drawer couldn’t be locked, it was broken (pic) ❌ no one at reception ❌ they charge you for a towel, so bring yours

It was good .. location right in the central location . Checking in was smooth , they emailed me the passcode for doors in the downstairs and third floor .. they gave me check in , an hour early .. washroom were clean , as the kitchen too .. you can make coffees all the time , for free .. a restaurant is there , cross the street , an Malaysian food , giving buffet for 14 euro , which was real good .. 599 meters , another restaurant REX , buffet is priced at 12.50 euro

What a terrible place! Handled by greedy people whose concern is only to make money from travellers. The reception closes early and they are not available on the provided whatsapp number. All of this makes for an unfriendly welcome to Finland. Book somewhere else, you can find more central and cheaper hostels run by nice people who even offers towel for free. Let's boycott places like Yard Hostel!

I had a brief stay at the hostel, very easy process to check in and very informative.. The only con is that one of the shower didn’t smell too good but overall it was clean and very comfortable

Stayed for approx 4 days at Yard Hostel on my solo city escape to Helsinki. It was one of the best hostels I've stayed in! It felt homey, calm and cozy. I decided to add a towel to my order after booking, and the staff were friendly to help me out with this. I really like that it's not a "party hostel", and the vibe in general is very calm. It's also a quite small hostel, so it never feels crowded. The location is also amazing and it's easy to get around town from Yard Hostel.

Centrally located hostel in the heart of all the action. Ten min walk from the station. Bit pricey compared to other places in Europe. Very much safe and clean. Bed wasn't that comfy. Atmosphere was alright, not much socialization going on. Breakfast is included, was also Aok. Overall decent experience.

New hostel in the really city center of Helsinki (same building as the commercial center " forum " !) . Nice decoration , cool staff, free breakfast so it s very good value for money ! I definitely recommend this place for s travel in Helsinki , a lot of shop and bar nearby !
