I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. What should have been a relaxing trip turned into a highly stressful and costly experience entirely due to the hotel's actions.
During our stay, the hotel damaged my car by breaking off my drivers side door handle. To make matters worse, before we had even checked in, we were blocked in by a construction lorry, which meant we were trapped and unable to access the boot of our car to retrieve our suitcases. At the same time, construction work was being carried out directly next to my vehicle, resulting in the entire side of my car being covered in sawdust.
While the hotel did cover the £30 for two nights of parking and provided two breakfast hampers, totalling £46, this only just covers the cost of the replacement part for my car - it does not cover the labour costs to fit it, nor does it address the distress, inconvenience, and disruption caused. More importantly, we had to approach the hotel ourselves to ask what they intended to do to rectify the situation - this was not proactively handled, which is unacceptable when a guest's property has been damaged.
Although the staff on duty were helpful and polite, they relayed a message from the hotel owner stating that they do not wish to contribute anything further towards the cost of the repairs, as they feel that compensating parking and breakfast is sufficient. I strongly disagree.
Minimal compensation and no apology from the hotel owner, does not undo the stress, financial burden, or inconvenience we were left with.
This experience clearly shows that the hotel does not go above and beyond for its guests, even when those guests have respected their property and paid over £450 for just two nights. We understand that if we had damaged their property then our card on file would have been charged. Therefore, the lack of accountability and underwhelming response to actual property damage of ours is extremely concerning and unacceptable.
I left this stay feeling thoroughly disappointed and stressed. I would strongly advise others to think carefully before trusting this hotel with their vehicle, or any personal belongings as they may be damaged. Furthermore, nowhere on their hotel policy does it mention that any damage to your car is at your own risk, and after seeking further advise from solicitors, compensation may not be deemed, so if you wish to avoid this situation (as you may not be compensated for any damage done), I would not choose this hotel as full compensation should have been offered.
