42 Best Things to Do in London, From Vintage Markets to Art Museums | Condé Nast Traveler

"An essential East London space since 2011, this boundary-pushing venue champions new talent, bends genres, and puts unheard voices center stage; it even throws the odd after-party for events like Trans Pride." - Connor Sturges

This theatre is closed for now but patiently waiting for it to reopen because I have seen many wonderful plays here. Waiting and hoping it reopens soon!

We went to see Saturnalia and we enjoyed every minute of it. This was a great performance of young actors in a cabaret style, but with a strong hipster-ish and contemporary approach. It is a modern interpretation of Saturnalia, the Greek holiday. Will definitely go again to see the other shows.

See this show before The Yard closes! Tennessee Williams' breakthrough play, great acting and imaginitive production in thus special place make it such a relevant experience

Just watched "The Glass Menagerie" at The Yard tonight - it was brilliant and moving! I have seen about 4 or 5 things at The Yard now and they have all been really impressive! The venue and staff are so nice too! I wish them all the best and look forward to the opening of their new space!

The Flea was BRILLIANT tonight. Go, people, while you can. I loved everything about it - the acting, the costumes, the set. The whole cast is fabulous, but Norah Lopez Holden's performance is outstanding 👌

Alas, the theatre is closing, but the venue will continue as a community arts centre. The production of The Glass Menagerie came highly recommended, and it didn't disappoint. Fabulous performances from a cast if three and an intimate, atmospheric setting brought the drama to life.

We came here for a kids craft session, and it was great - our littleuns enjoyed making puppets & dabbling in performing related arts & crafts. There was storytelling, book swap and nibbles, etc and all the staff were very friendly and put a lot of effort into the few hours. Will definitely come back for more theatre related fun

Yelp
A small theatre running mostly avant-garde shows, The Yard fits right into Hackney Wick. It's a two-minute walk from the overground station and accessible by a number of bus lines. The theatre also has a bar and restaurant, so you can eat and drink or snack before or after seeing a performance. Theatre seats are hard but cushioned, and the space is sharply raked so all spots have a good view of the stage. The show I saw had booming sound and colorful lighting and both were well supported by the venue's lighting and sound rigs. You can bring drinks from the bar into the theatre if you want to sip while watching. While I didn't order any food, the fully-vegan menu looked great. Prices seemed reasonable and things coming out of the kitchen smelled good. There's also outdoor bench-style seating so you could even come to The Yard just for a vegan North African meal with a beer from one of the nearby breweries.
