Google
Such an incredible experience from start to finish. Each dish was meticulously prepared and presentation was top notch. Wait staff was personable and eager to please. The experience starts in the bar area with drinks and you're then moved into the dining area. Not sure if it's common, but we were invited to a table in the kitchen for one course about half way through to meet the chef and watch all the action. The food, people, and atmosphere all made for such a wonderful evening. Highly recommend!

The restaurant is a part of the hotel, it has a beautiful hill top location with an amazing view of Porto from the terrace but also the window seats of the restaurant. The dining experience starts in the living room and you will be guided to the kitchen to experience the vibe and food and then back to the main dining area in the restaurant. Overall the service is good but for a Michelin 2 star restaurant it could be more attentive, I needed to ask to get my glass filled for example. Food is creative as expected, however flavor was not too outstanding and some dishes were a bit salty. I love the concept of eating local but when I get bread and butter as one course and churro as the main dessert it is a bit too standard for a 2 star restaurant in my opinion. I have food intolerance, the kitchen and the team really took care of it, so definitely good service on that part. It is overall a good dining experience but not the best 2 star food experience I’ve had.

Google
You can't give them enough stars. Impeccable, absolutely incredible quality of food with flavors and design unmatched by any save the world's best restaurants. They turn all of this into a true experience starting with the first 'moments' at a table in the foyer before leading you to your table in the dining room. You will also have a special moment away from your table, but I won't spoil the secret. I didn't take photos of the plates because there were 16 course and I wanted to enjoy them to the fullest instead. The menu changes seasonally in any case. Trust me on this, you will go to The Gastronomic Restaurant or forever wish that you had.

Google
Outstanding dining experience. We came for my wife’s 60th birthday and it was a perfect evening. Loved the start of the evening with champagne and appetisers in the bar area, favourite was the chicken piri piri. Superb ambience and a cracking view of Porto. Great cocktails! The gastronomic experience notched up a gear once seated in the dining room with some exquisite courses including an invitation to the chefs table in the kitchen for the Oyster course. Service is a perfect balance of friendly and super professional, they made the evening really special. Finished the evening slightly merry and with an extra portion of the very delicious chocolate tripe.

Google
We had an amazing evening at this great place! We requested a table near the window to enjoy the spectaculair views this restaurant has to offer! The food was absolutely amazing! And service is great! Special thanks to all the staff in the restaurant and kitchen brigade! This was one of the best restaurant experiences we ever had!

Google
A perfect dinner experience end to end. It started at the bar with snacks and sparkling wine. Then at the restaurant with a perfect view of the Douro and the city of Porto. The dishes are impeccably prepared , balanced and tasty. The wine pairing uses Portuguese wines exclusively and it is spot on. The staff were all super friendly and engaging making this a fun experience - not stuffy like in other highly rated restaurants. It is not cheap but it is worth every penny Congratulations to the chef and team.

Google
Was an amazing experience, punching closer to 3 stars! Definitely recommend the Prime wine pairing. Food was more on the seafood side which was perfect for us. Our main waiter Ronaldo was really friendly and helped us well!

We had an exceptional experience at this two-Michelin-star restaurant during our stay at The Yeatman in Porto. Despite it being the day of our arrival, the team was incredibly accommodating and were able to provide us a dinner reservation. They surprised us with a private dining room with an incredible view of the city that allowed us to enjoy our meal in complete privacy with our six-month-old daughter—something we truly appreciated. The service was impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, and the attention to detail made the experience feel both luxurious and personal. The culinary creations were exquisite, each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor—a true testament to the restaurant’s Michelin-star quality. We really enjoyed the soft shell crab, trout and sake, and tuna dishes. The desserts were also delicious. We are grateful for the care and flexibility shown, making our first evening in Porto unforgettable. This is a dining experience we would highly recommend to anyone seeking not only world-class cuisine but also thoughtful, family-friendly hospitality.

Yelp
Wow... there's a reason this place has two Michelin stars the attention to detail to the food, service and ambience is next level! The menu is set and you have an option to do a wine pairing which I definitely recommend! You start in a waiting area where they bring appetizers and offer wine and then shortly after we're guided to our table. At one point of the course we were invited into the kitchen to see the dynamic of the chefs and the process. Our waiters were so nice and knowledgeable. We liked one of the dishes so much they made it for us again. We left full and tipsy. The dining experience is at least 2 hours and I am so grateful to experience a dining experience like this. Genuinely broke my scale.

Yelp
We made reservations for the Yeatman Gastronomic Restaurant as soon as we decided to go to Portugal. We subsequently decided to stay at the hotel for a couple days as well - so, so, so glad we did (but that's for another review). Gastronomic Restaurant was, in one word, absolutely incredible. Okay, needed two words and I don't think that even really captures it. The experience started the moment we checked in. I don't want to detail everything out as I think part of the experience is not knowing how everything is going to go, and being surprised! The service was top top notch - and some of the servers were extra friendly and fun. We did a wine pairing and got to try many fabulous wines that brought the dishes to another level. Speaking of the dishes - amazing!!! Wonderful flavors and beautiful/unique plating. We were so, so full and rolled back to our hotel room afterwards. Sad the experience was over but happy it happened. Hopefully we will be able to visit Portugal again - if so, we will 100% immediately make a reservation for another experience at the Yeatman Gastronomic Restaurant!

Yelp
I had an amazing and memorable gastronomic experience at the Yeatman and highly recommend a visit. Upon arrival I was seated in the lounge area to order wine and be presented with the first set of appetizers. Those initial bites were so delicious that I knew I was in for a fantastic meal. After moving to the dining room I was taken into the kitchen to see where the magic happens. A tall table was waiting for me with some sparkling wine. A chef then provided the second set of appetizers that included caviar, waffles, and a little soft shell crab. Yum. After returning to my table in the dining room, the feast continued. Every dish was as beautiful as it was tasty. Service was impeccable throughout the meal. The view of Porto from the dining room really enhanced the whole experience. If I visit Porto again, the Yeatman Restaurant will definitely be on my must-dine list.

Yelp
Upfront - literally the best meal we have ever had. Service, food, experience, atmosphere. About 20 different courses that the team calls "moments". Yea, sound a bit cliche, but each portion is designed to be a culinary amazement and part of a journey the chef is taking you on. Yea, I know, sounds super hoighty toighty, but it is actually true. You don't eat the food, you taste it. Listen, we eat all types of food - street food, basic restaurants, I love to cook, and occasionally we splurge on the crazy - The Yeatmans is the crazy at its craziest - but an incredible experience. I am almost 60, have had many types of meals in many places with chefs that pour their hearts into their meals / evenings. Ricardo Costa at the Yeatman in Vila Nova de Gaia (across the river from Porto Portugal), is a maestro of the highest class. If you want the best dining experience of your life - or one of them if you are someone that drops this kind of coin to eat with some regularity - go to The Yeatman's. It is one of a kind. I will not be able to go thru all the dishes, but, yes, it was ~20 different plates. All part of a culinary journey that started when we showed up and had complementary drinks in the ante-room that also included the first several courses. We then went to the main room where we were blessed with having a Chef's course IN THE KITCHEN. I don't care if they do this with every party - it was killer. They spoke to us like we really mattered and we got to see them prepare the next course. In the quietest kitchen I have ever seen. (Reminded me a little of the movie "The Menu" without the bad ending.) The kitchen at The Yeatman is a marvel - the staff, the process, and Ricardo. Just best in class. We got the Yeatman wine pairing and learned a ton about Portuguese wine. (It was amazing - we took photos and are going to try to get it in the states - wish us luck). Completely worth it and Paul the sommelier was superb. The other Ricardo, Emanuel and all the staff were over the top amazing. I dropped my napkin and picked it up in 5 secs and one of the staff came over and said - here is a new one. I said "you saw that? He said, we see everything" (in a very nice way). Insane. My wife and I agreed this was the best meal we have ever had and was totally worth the very high price. This Is the "Special Occasion" place you dream of and the food and experience is something most mere mortals only get a few times in their lives. Would give 10 stars if I could. Thank you Ricardo, Ricardo, Emamuel, and all the people at The Yeatmans - you are the best at what you do.

Yelp
Wow, what an experience. We were greeted by the hostess and taken to a window bistro seat in the lounge, with a beautiful view of Porto for our introduction to The Yeatman Restaurant. We were offered an appertivo, given an explanation of the menu and the experience, and received our first course. Then we were escorted to the dining room, a nice cozy room. We had a window facing table to take in more of the beautiful views. We were then escorted into the kitchen to continue our courses, which was such an awesome experience. There were so many courses, it seemed never ending. Each bite delectable. Service was terrific, everyone had a smile and our server made us laugh a few times. We really enjoyed our evening here. How is this not a 3 star Michelin? A must when you are in the Porto area.

Yelp
I've been to many fine dining establishments, and this was easily the best dinner of my life. It is so hard to master a vegetarian tasting menu - and the Yeatman has done this beautifully. My husband got the traditional tasting menu, and while it was excellent, he preferred some of my vegetarian dishes. I would eat here every day if I could!!! Plus, the views are amazing and having guests eat a course in the kitchen was a great touch. The service was impeccable as well.

Paul S.

Yelp
Old, stuffy, and unpleasant attitude and vibe. We spent over $1000 Euros on a wine tasting (Master Class - which was wonderful), and was confusingly denied our multiply confirmed dinner reservation. They begrudgingly and rudely offered us a table, however we no longer felt welcome. And unceremoniously and happily left that caustic and toxic environment for a much friendlier place down the street. We were insulted and would add one final word: AVOID.

Yelp
Phenomenal food. Phenomenal service. Phenomenal views. Food: I broke out in a giant smile and began laughing at how delicious some of the courses were. My boyfriend, who isn't much of a food guy, was also very impressed by some courses. Longostine+chicken skin+nori= :) Tomato salad= :) The only possible complaint is that the butter for the bread lacked salt. Wine: Amazing wine list with tons of affordable by-the-glass and bottles alongside some attractively priced splurges. Real deal, not gimmicky, not a money grab. Service: The service was a nice balance of "serious classy" balanced with some refreshing (appropriate) banter and humor. Everyone seemed comfortable versus scripted/out of their comfort zone and that made a huge difference. The only SLIGHT miss was the wine pairing. The selections were great but I think the server focused a bit too much on the technicalities of the wines and maybe lacked conversational English to explain why each wine was chosen for a dish, what she liked, what we could expect, etc. She was very attentive, though! Refilling us on many occasions. View: That's pretty much what the Yeatman is about. They shamelessly milk this at every turn, but it doesn't get old. As the evening progresses, and the sun sets, the view morphs. Eventually, when the night falls and you can't see into Porto, you notice that you have a full view of the kitchen reflecting off the glass!

Carl B.

Yelp
Guaranteed to make a "best meal of all times" list. The food was incredible. The service was exemplary. Treat yourself to the wine pairing (all Portuguese) and enjoy what is certain to be a fabulous evening (And the chocolate tripe paired with a port is out-of-this-world).

Yelp
This 2 star Michelin restaurant was one of the best experiences we've had. We had something like 20+ courses, and for our 5 year old daughter they made a special sea bass dish for the kiddo along at least 15 of our courses... for free! The experience was unique and very well choreographed . They invite you to the kitchen to meet the staff and you can watch as the chefs make each dish. The service was impeccable and the setting was beautiful. It overlooks the entire river across from Porto. This was one of the most reasonably priced Michelin 2 stars I've been to. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I had the privilege of dining here for my birthday. They serve not only delicious food but amazing views. I would give this a 4.5 if possible. Unlike other Michelin restaurants I've been to, the dining experience started before we entered the dining room, with a beautiful view of the douro river. We were ushered in to the dining room at a staggered pace, so we shared the dining room with only one other table for a good 15 minutes. The standouts of the meal were the beginning dishes, such as the amuse bouche and soups and salads. Those were so bright, delightful and flavorful. As we approached the warmer dishes, they were still yummy but i just loved the first courses so much. My favorite warm courses were the crab puff, maybe because we were allowed to enter the kitchen and say hi to the chefs and his staff. I've never been invited into the dining room before so it was a realllly cool experience. And then there were soooo many desserts after such warm delicious bread. honestly i was stuffed to the gills, and i didn't get the wine pairing. somehow we ate it all and had to be rolled back home. really enjoyed this experience and i will never forget it because of the views and the kitchen experience! if possible to dine here, you should definitely do it!

Yelp
I could not have asked for a more fabulous birthday dinner than the one I had at the Yeatman's Restaurant! This spot is fully deserving of its two Michelin stars. The tasting menu was creative, unique, and so incredibly filling. The service was also exceptional and I really enjoyed the invitation to the kitchen for 'snacks' and some commentary by the chef. They were so generous for my birthday celebration and presented us with a mini cake made with 3 types of chocolate (and packed the leftovers for us to take away). Highly recommend this spot for those looking for a lavish fine dining experience in Porto!

Yelp
We arrived in Porto and pouring rain, after checking in, 6:30pm reservation doesn't seem to be too early anymore after staying in the room for 2 hours. It's Michelin 2 star restaurant inside the hotel. Beautiful view of river and Porto even in dark rainy day. The service is impeccable and food was excellent, they accommodated my BF's dietary restriction with a smile. Presentation and interpretation are the reason this restaurant deserve Michelin star. It took us about 3 and 1/2 hours to complete and the pace of the food was great. We had kitchen tour as a part of the snack course. I attached the picture of menu and the food in order. Enjoy!

Yelp
Dinner here really impressed. We were visiting Porto for a few nights and chose to dine here for one of our dinners. Made a reservation for seven people a month or so in advance and when we arrived, were taken to the private Tower Room with a private terrace and the best view of the city. Everyone was VERY happy and impressed with not just the excellent view but the restaurant and privacy we were given for dinner. FOOD: the food was absolutely incredible, but the dishes that really blew this place out of the water were the suckling pig and the veal. The skin on the suckling pig was cooked twice, once with vinegar, to yield the crunchiest skin I've ever had. I have never had such an amazing piece of meat before. Similarly, the veal was perfectly cooked, medium rare, and bursting with flavor. Every dish on the tasting menu was perfectly composed and plated. We all opted for the wine pairing as well which was incredible. SERVICE: service was outstanding. I wish I got our servers name because he was so great. Explained every single plate with knowledge and patience and happy to indulge our (multiple) questions. VERDICT: if you like fine dining and are coming to Porto, dining at The Yeatman is a must. Excellent experience and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Dined here as a part of a group experience, about 15 of us. The private room which we were promised only sat about half so we were separated which could have been easily resolved, but wasn't. The restaurant only had one other reservation table the whole night, so putting us all together in the regular dining area would of been an option, but the staff had no desire making that happen. That aside, the food was nothing to rave about. Some dishes were in fact good, but not 2 star expectations. Although the presentation of dishes and location of the restaurant were impressive, the food fell short. Out of the 4 Michelin star restaurants in the Porto area, this was by far the least impressive. Both 1star restaurants blew it this one of the water
google avatar

Dominique N.

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences in Porto! The 2 stars Michelin restaurant has a classic Mediterranean vibe, combining bright décor and old world style. Each dish presents a new flavor within Portugal's diverse cuisine.. The exquisite food is paired with a stunning view of Porto across the river. The chef @chefricardocosta has exceeded culinary expectations for over five years. The dinner tasting course consists of 13 small plates at 180 euros. It's pricey but an amazing experience.

Yelp
Not quite Michelin molecular gastronomy perfection in Porto but pretty good nonetheless. Set the scene: high atop the hills of Porto across the Douro River bridge sits The Yeatman, with quintessential Portuguese Pombaline styled buildings across the river yonder. This is not a restaurant where you make choices. The menu is the menu. You're either on the boat or not. Overall, the dishes didn't disappoint but not one was truly outstanding. They love their liquid nitrogen so if that's not your thing, skip this place. The two foods I remember as particularly tasty are the bread with homemade truffle butter and squid several ways. I'm convinced that if a Michelin restaurant cannot get the basics right, the star(s) ain't lit. Tip: make a reservation for 19:00 or 19:30 so you can see the sunset on their terrace. Get there early so you can walk the terrace and also the first floor of the hotel. Comparison to select other 2-star Michelin: Jungsik (overpriced), Tenku RyuGin (inventive with amazing service), The Yeatman falls in the middle.

Regina S.

Yelp
We dined here one night while staying at the hotel. Ordered the degustation menu and the wine pairing. The food was great, beautifully presented and very flavorful. We were disappointed with the wine pairing, however. We really wanted to be introduced to the great wines of Portugal so we ordered the €250 per person wine pairing-- €500 for the dinner. The wines presented were horrible. Acidic harsh wines. The highlight was to be the 2 ports served but, this was not our goal. I would never recommend the wine pairing in any event. We ended up finding beautiful Portuguese wines on our own, it would have been helpful if the sommelier put in more effort in presenting his wine region.

Yelp
The Yeatman was fabulous! All the rooms have a breathtaking view of Porto and it is truly spectacular! The staff is professional and ready to help you with anything you may need to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They are also very knowledgeable about the wines, the area, etc. The hotel is across from Porto so you can walk from the hotel there, however there are a number of wineries along the way....so it may take you a bit. The Restaurant has a Michelin Star and it is well earned! We visited in July and it was warm overall but the evenings were chilly. They were ready with blankets for the guests, but it was still too cold! Portable heaters would have been great. This is definitely the place to stay during your visit to Porto!

Yelp
Exceptional service and food. The atmosphere was very romantic and the view was unbelievable. We had the gastronomic experience with the wine pairing. Everything was fantastic and we felt the food was way better than the three starred French Laundry we visited earlier this year.

Yelp
From the roof of Gaga, Porto lays below you twinkling into life at night. On warm summer days it must be terrific to be up here and enjoy the view from the balcony but on a wet April evening I was glad of a place at the window, observing with the benefit of double glazed protection. I settled in for the long haul, two hours or so of the finest North Portuguese cuisine, adventurous and benefiting from exquisite cooking, served by the friendliest of staff. I really cannot credit the staff enough; such a friendly bunch who assisted admirably when I sprayed the first amuse-bouche all over the table and rapidly found me a second. I had the four course menu, though this translates into many, many more and is definitely enough. Favourite dishes included the lobster and the sea bream dishes - utterly delightful.

Yelp
This is by far the best place we dined in Portugal. It is what you would expect from a Michelin rated restaurant...... Stayed here at the hotel for several days, and one night we ate here. Extremely great service and fantastic food. We all had the Chef's tasting menu. My niece does not eat hoofed animal, so we let them know and they accommodated without hesitation! The Pork lollipops and the duck was to kill for. Actual it all was great.... I am not a dessert person, but everyone raved about the amazing and abundant desserts served! They brought out this very large "sweets cart" that was loaded with goodies, after dessert was served so beware of sugar overload!! Personally I enjoyed the dessert wines..... We also had the wine flight with dinner, and I think it was extremely well paired with the food for using the local wines. Definitely a gastronomic explosion to satisfy all!! Oh by the way, the Yeatman is not actually in Porto, it is across the river in Gaia, so the the view of the old city of Porto is phenomenal..... Enjoy!

Yelp
Only came here for drinks - not the food (sadly). We were having a tasting at Taylor's and decided to walk up the driveway to check out The Yeatman and see what the fuss was about this Michelin starred restaurant. We stopped in for drinks (tip, don't order a glass of port here because you can get it directly from the source at the different port houses nearby) right after sunset and got to experience the incredible view without needing to shed the big bucks. There is an incredible port cocktail on their menu that was probably one of the best cocktails I've ever had, so if you're at all curious, I'd suggest ordering it. Aside from the view, the best part of getting drinks is that they bring out really delicious bar snacks to entertain yourself. I'd have to say, this is probably the most perfect place to ever have a drink.

Yelp
One of our best fine dining restaurants while visiting Porto Portugal Very creative presentations with good flavors. We also ate at Casa de cha de boa nova, which is Rui Paula's restaurant that just got two Michelin stars but the Yeatman's was better which was a surprise. We did eat at Rui's DOP while at Douro Valley and was better than Casa de cha de boa nova and just a hare lower than the Yeatman's Pricey but worth it.

Andrea L.

Yelp
Ate here for the second time and The Yeatman exceeded my expectations again. We got the tasting menu and wine pairing and it was all divine. The most memorable dishes were the barbecue chicken and the cuttlefish. For the price that you pay, you are definitely getting your money's worth. What's even more amazing is that they refill your wine glasses during the wine pairing!! I have dined at other Michelin star restaurants including Eleven Madison Park and consider The Yeatman #1 In my book. I highly recommend all foodies to check it out. They do an excellent job bringing together all of the tastes of Portuguese food in an elegant and modernized way.

Yelp
My husband and I went here during our honeymoon for one of their Thursday night wine dinners. The Cartuxa winery was that week's sponsor, and everything about it was stellar. The wine dinner is run kind of like a dinner party, and when we got there they were serving sparkling wine and hors d'oeuvres in the lounge. There was a fire in the fireplace, and the terrace was open, so you could enjoy the view of the river and the city, and come back inside to warm up. They had rosé and regular sparkling wine, and a variety of creative and delicious hors d'oeuvres. My favorite was a foie gras lollipop that was dipped in savory white chocolate. After half an hour or so in the lounge, we went down to the wine cellar for dinner. They seated us at tables with people who speak the same language, so my husband and I were seated with a lovely couple from Australia who now live in Edinburgh, and with the director of the foundation that produces the Cartuxa wines. It felt like a lot of locals go there with friends for a fun night, because most of the tables were filled with people speaking Portuguese who seemed to already know each other. (I don't blame them. If I lived anywhere near there, I'd go at least every few months.) Dinner was maybe five courses, all with paired wines (that they kept refilling), and it was all stellar. Between courses, the director of the foundation would stand and introduce the next wine we were going to have; that was in Portuguese, so we missed a lot, but he told us a bunch about the foundation and their wines during the meal, and it was a really great experience. When we were there, the restaurant had one Michelin star. I was not surprised when they were given a second. This was one of the best meals I've ever had. The staff was flawless; the food was a work of art; the setting was beautiful; the company was all wonderful; and the wine was an experience unto itself. I planned our visit to Portugal to make sure we were in Porto on a Thursday night so we could do this, and I am so glad I did. I would happily go back to Porto just to enjoy this again.

Roy F.

Yelp
Suggest Paparico instead, real Portuguese food, great service, splendid local wines with a knowledgeable wine guy. But, if you favor visual impact, this is the place for you.

Yelp
Perfect dining experience with great food and great atmosphere. Highly recommend to take your time and enjoy every dishes they serve. It took 4 hours to enjoy "complete" courses.

Yelp
Superb experience! From the moment we arrived all the way to the very end. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, courteous and super professional. You are treated like royalty! The sommelier deserves an individual mention for extensive knowledge and great recommendations ! The food presentation is very unique and the flavors don't disappoint. A ** restaurant that deserves ***!!!

Yelp
What a way to finish a our travels through Portugal! An unforgettable dinner that has to be one of our top food experiences of Europe. Chef Ricardo Costa, provided us with creative dishes from start to finish that went past the pretentious and truly displayed an understanding of flavors, textures and composition. These were traditional flavors of Portuguese cuisine but re-interpreted for a contemporary experience. There was a lot of fresh Atlantic fish and sea food on the menu, and farm fresh local produce. The Yeatman is also a luxury wine hotel, but we did not stay there. They have an award-winning wine cellar, which we visited and some of the wines that were suggested were amazing, including a red 2010 Reserva by Sociedade Agrícola Castro de Pena Alba that became one of our favorites that we have tasted between Spain and Portugal. The starter of sardines with artichokes was surprisingly delicious. The lamb and suckling pig, along with the baked breads are still in our conversations. Keep in mind this was a Michelin Star rated restaurant in 2012 and 2013 so the prices are only for the brave, but we thought it would be a fine way to celebrate the end of our trip and we were not disappointed. You can take a tour of the hotel during the day as we did and it is quite a magnificent place to explore.
