I completely recognize that Marriott hotels and their brand in China has to be different during Covid. But I have stated multiple Marriotts in China since Covid, and I was somewhat disappointed in this one. The original room that I was given was supposed to be an upgrade, but it was very warm, and in a very unfortunate location. Luckily, they were willing to upgrade me and provide a much cooler room that was very comfortable during my stay. The location is excellent, and the view from my room was ultimately very beautiful. Staying at this hotel during Thanksgiving weekend, I was hoping for a little bit more western comfort. The breakfast was very Chinese, with several small Western options. I literally had to ask for cheese. The TV channel options were also very minimal. Three channels in English, with no western news options. And the Wi-Fi was very very slow. But the staff was nice, and I was able to charge our Tesla for no charge, which was a really nice gift.

A very large, well maintained hotel. We had a large room enough to fit 2 kids, comfy beds, and very quiet even though there were others on our floor. In off season, we didn't encounter anyone who spoke English, but they recognize our Marriot status and we got upgraded and late check-out. ||For kids there is the indoor pool...a children's pool that's about 1.5ft deep and a larger lap pool, big enough for real exercise. Even in the dead of winter it's not too cold, although the floor is freezing and the large pool room is drafty. The sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are in the locker rooms.||They also enjoyed the squirrel club which is a large room consisting of ball pits and slides. Costs 50rmb/child. I'd say if your kid is over 7 he is too old. We wandered around the outside lake area and gardens, empty and very peaceful. Outdoor pools and water areas closed in winter. ||We ate at all the restaurants because if you don't have a car, you need to Didi everywhere. Breakfast buffet is pretty much everything under the sun. Lunch at le cafe is pricey, food came very slow (they did warn me). The pizza was actually really good. We ate at the shandy one night, which is a bar/gameroom. Looked like a good bar, and you can play billiards, ktv for a price. They serve chinese bar food aka kebabs, it's a lot of food, but they don't have a kitchen so it comes from upstairs and is a little cold. The servers were very nice to our kids and gave snacks as we waited. The bar has an outdoor seating area that's probably great not in the middle of winter.||The best restaurant was yu garden on the 5th floor. Chinese menu but it has pictures, everything we ordered was fantastic and presentation beautiful. Every dish is accentuated with little baby shrimp. The servings are large too. Also, tons of families so they are very used to children. It was also the most crowded places with the families eating pretty early, so even in the middle of the week it was pretty full at 6. ||The only negative about the hotel, is you should have a good understanding (we didn't) of where you want to go and how to get there. We used didi but I think some attractions could be walked or biked or bussed more easily. On didi FYI, this place is called le meridien still. |

In overall, not a good choice at such a high price: 1. Check in: the overall altitude of the receptionist was ok, but obviously not well trained for Marriott member's benefit. No welcome gift was provided to Platinum guest, and no introduction of the benefits to a Platinum guest; 2. Room: upgraded to Kids club room, and all decorations looks nice to a Kid (better less than 4 years old since will be a little bit boring for elder kids) 3. Public facilities - Indoor Swimming Pool: for kids, the size is not big, but still ok; - Outdoor Swimming Pool: few facilities for kids' fun, but not well maintained: some dirties in the pool and moss on the steps, and kids shall be careful not to drink in the pool and not to slip on the steps - Little zoo: good even charge for the food for little animals, but kids like it a lot - Kids playground: big enough as an indoor playground, but again, for kids more than 5 years old, will be a little bit boring. 4. Food The breakfast was not bad, with quite a lot choice. Be aware, kids for free is strictly controlled by height

Everything was great--I booked two rooms for a large family but was unfortunately not able to make it in as I had last minute meetings scheduled. However, my dad reported back and had a spectacular time. They upgraded us to rooms with a better view and the two attendants--Carina and Zoe in particular gave my family just phenomenal service so thank you to you two. The breakfast was really really good apparently. My dad says he will want to go back for another family vacation so looks like we'll be coming back for sure. From what I've heard, I recommend this hotel and especially thank Carina and Zoe.

During the pandemic with young toddlers it’s difficult to go anywhere far and being only 40 minutes door to door from downtown Shanghai the Yuluxe Sheshan is an ideal location. The area has lot of theme parks, sculpture garden, and plenty of activities but we barely made it out of the resort given all the on-site amenities. The Squirrel Club kids play area is bigger and better than most kiddie centers found in malls, petting zoo was a real surprise and treat, and 3 restaurants made feeding the family in between activities easy. Rooms have been remodeled since past stays when the property was a Le Meridien, refreshed with a more luxurious and boutique feel. It’s always stressful traveling with toddlers and the front-office manager Dwight really took care of us with preparations and recognition of Bonvoy status really making our stay special. We went in the winter so weren’t able to make use of the private beach and lake but will plan to come back in Spring.

I stayed at this resort lately during my visit to my parents who were moving to a retirement facility nearby. It is a nice resort an hour drive from hustle and bustle CBD Shanghai. The rooms are spacious, some with fantastic lake views. You can walk the resort ground to the adjacent Sheshan Forest Park or Sculpture Park. But as this is a family oriented resort there are many noisy young kids during weekends and school holidays. But the main disappointment was the food. The breakfast was excellent and has lots of western and Chinese selections. But that's about it. I dined at two restaurant, the Le Cafe and the Yu Chinese restaurant. They are both very expensive and the Yu restaurant doesn't offer any discount to Marriott members. I don't mind paying top dollars but in both case I don't think the food worth the price. And the biggest disappointment was the coffee. I had a few friends came for visit so I thought it would be nice to sit in the lobby and have a coffee as there is no executive lounge. The coffee were bland in taste and they were lukewarm when served. And it cost ¥50 for a cup which I think it's outrageous. |Overall it is a nice resort and if I stay there again next time I will just get a taxi to the town center and eat there.

The hotel provides spacious room and very comfy bed. Unfortunately we didn't get the benefits of our gold membership until we did the check-out and a nice lady in yellow dress asked us about our experience. She corrected it in a very professional manner and promptly by giving us vouchers for activites and a little doll for our 3 y.o. daughter. The Chinese restaurant provides tasty food (some oily) but is a little pricey imo. The Western restaurant and breakfast was good. We had an issue with the design of the bathroom sliding doors. My wife got her fingers pinched when sliding one to the end of the rail. Otherwise, what makes it a great destination are the sand beach, the little farm and the greenery around the hotel, which all make a nice escape for your kids looking for outdoor/indoor activities.

A great spot to stay with kids. Loads for children to do. Your 2 year old had a blast even though it rained the whole time. The room wasn't as nice as i was expecting and our "river" view room was basically a drainage canal. The staff were very accommodating. It was a very busy weekend - mothers day - and there were a few mishaps. But the staff handled them excellently. For example, early check in was not available upon arrival but the staff quickly prepared the room and were in within 20 min of our arrival. However, maybe too quickly, because the bed sheet had sand on it. I called the desk and with in 5 min there was someone there to replace it. They also forgot to bring up my bag as they said they would and have a child in need of a nappy change i was rather irritated however, here again the staff respond immediately. Mistakes happen, i'm ok with that, its the response to mistakes that is important and they did a great job in this respect. Food was also good. The indoor kids pool was excellent, the play room was great, the little farm was cool ... great facilities all around. This was my first time staying with SPG member hotel ... will do so again gladly.
