The Yuluxe Sheshan, Shanghai, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Hotel was easy to get to and room was clean. However, there was a strange odour that was occasionally noticeable in the room, particularly if air-con had been off - slightly fishy/musty like when fabric has not been dried properly. Otherwise room was spacious and bathroom clean. Good amenities, including dressing gown for kids. The outdoor pool areas were great, kids loved it. Staff were helpful but struggled with English at times, but came through with help of translation apps. The breakfast buffet has plenty of options, but lunch/dinner options at the cafe/room service are not as plentiful and despite saying 24 hrs, is only available until 10pm. The Shandy bar, despite having a basic cocktail menu to view, was unable to make anything other than a margarita due to lack of ingredients, which was disappointing. The grounds and surrounds seemed well kept with lots of options for adventurous, older kids. Would not recommend the 'animal ranch' though, we had a quick look in but were then told we'd need to pay 98rmb which seems very overpriced given the place was littered with animal droppings and what we saw was not promising. They have 'pandas' ie painted/dyed dogs in a small enclosure which did not bode well. But overall, for a little getaway with kids who like the pool, this was an easy staycation.

The room quite spacious and comfortable. We loved the tub, balcony and views. The hotel is beautiful and has many things to do. The outdoor pool is clean and very inviting. We really enjoyed the hotel and it is a great option for a weekend get away from the big city life. You feel relaxed as you are surrounded by nature and the food is quite nice. There is a lot of variety for all tastes.

Spacious and clean room with balcony. It's an ideal resort hotel for family vacation. Bob gave the guests a warm welcome and was very helpful in recommending places to visit. The hotel being quite remote and distant from public transport, it's better to drive there along the scenic route and go around with your own car. Hotel is close to botanical garden and national parks. The public broadcast is a bit loud at night, but it's quiet when you go to sleep.

The hotel is located in a quiet area, slightly off the road, with beautiful and clean surrounding facilities, including a pond, swimming pool, and a sand playground for children. The outdoor pool wasn’t open yet for the season but looked very inviting. The check-in and check-out process was smooth, although the young man at the reception was a bit shy and spoke very quietly. The breakfast room was large but quite noisy, likely due to the public holiday and many guests with children. It was hard to find a seat during peak breakfast time. The room was spacious and clean, with a balcony and electric curtains. The service was excellent, and any issues, like a problem with the air conditioning, were quickly addressed even late in the evening. Additionally, there is an indoor swimming pool and a large fitness room that looked very promising, but due to our limited time, we couldn’t try it out.

Wonderful stay ! A good place to build wonderful memories with friends. Lots of sceneries and fun-filled activities. The ambiance is really excellent. The scenery, the lake and the benches are comfortable and relaxing places to bond with friends. The room is clean and very spacious. They were hospitable to accommodated my request for a change of room. Food is delicious and satisfying. Highly recommend this place.

Amazing hotel. The staff from the concierge to the reception desk are friendly with warm smiles. The hotel has lots of fun activities, several outdoor pools and an indoor pool. My friend and I had a great time. Will surely come back to this hotel.

We were very disappointed with our family room and the amenities. We booked two rooms, one family one and one regular room and they were both identical in size and layout. We noticed that other family rooms have a tent and children's toys, but we did not have any. This might have been due to the fact that the hotel was at capacity during our stay. Given we have 3 young children (all 4 and under inducing an infant) we arrived 30 mins before check in to ensure a smooth process. However, after countless trips to the checkin counter, our room wasn't ready until after 5pm! And when we finally entered the family room, there were many things missing, like bar soap and towels.Regarding the activities on site, be prepared to pay additionally for basically everything. If you don't bring your own swim caps, they will charge you around 100rmb each including for your kids. Lastly, be aware that the animals at the petting zoo are not all kept healthy. We were pretty horrified at the state of the cow, horse, and dog in particular. They were constantly trembling (in 70 degree weather) and covered in flies. It was sad and very tough to explain to our kids.
